From getting an insight into the life of crime lord, John Gotti to learning about the creator of Wonder Woman; Hollywood has covered our ‘infotainment’ quota for the upcoming months. When you have names like Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson, making the stellar star-cast of the film, you can already imagine how exciting the journey is going to be. Our beloved Wolverine, Hugh Jackman will play the American showman Barnum. The movie is slated for a December 25 release.

The movie is releasing on October 13 and we are really excited to watch this one.

Kangana Ranaut may or not respond to every single news report about her, but her sister Rangoli sure does. After calling Hrithik Roshan a “stalker uncle”, Rangoli has slammed the actor after he finally broke his silence.

Hrithik had written in his statement, “I have surrendered all my devices including laptop/phones etc which are still lying with the cyber cell, but the other party has refused to do so.” Rangoli shared an e-mail allegedly written by him to Kangana, which has “sent from my iPad” at the bottom. She wrote, “Hrithik gave his laptop for private forensic investigation which he paid for not his I pad… any guesses why ?? (sic)”

Hrithik also wondered how a relationship between two high-profile celebrities could be kept so hush-hush. “No evidence, no paparazzi pictures, no witnesses, not even a memento in possession like a selfie taken at the alleged engagement,” he wrote, adding, “The only so-called proof presented of this alleged ‘relationship’ was a photographed picture in the media. This was immediately exposed, the very next day by friends including my ex-wife.”

Sharing the picture in question, Rangoli asked him to prove that the picture was photoshopped. She further asked, “Is dat not u, who has grabbed Kangana’s waist like a creep and smelling her neck, who seems disinterested?”

Hrithik’s ex-wife Sussanne Khan had come to his defence when the picture was first leaked and shared another picture, which showed that she was also present at the same party. To this, Rangoli said, “So what if ur ex wife ws dere, I don’t knw bt we all read rumours about hr affair with your friend. (sic)”

Meanwhile, Kangana’s lawyer also responded to Hrithik’s clarification and said that the reason Kangana had no pictures of their relationship was because he did not let her take any. Being a married man, Hrithik supposedly wanted to maintain his spotless image.

Looks like Bollywood will finally show us a good crime thriller after a long hiatus. The trailer of ‘Ittefaq’ was released a while ago and yes, it totally looks the kind that we want to watch. Remember the good old crime stories like ‘Talash’, ‘Ajnabee’ and even ‘Kahaani’? Now that’s the kind of genre we are talking about. 

The trailer begins with the classic interrogatory line, ‘Toh hua kya kal raat ko’?

The movie stars Sidharth Malhotra as a crime suspect who has probably murdered his own wife and also Sonakshi Sinha’s husband. The latter is also a prime suspect and the trailer shows two sides of the same story.

However, the best part of the trailer is Akshaye Khanna as the sharp and fierce cop who trusts no one and suspects everyone.

The film is a co-production between Dharma Productions, Red Chillies Entertainment and BR films.

The movie marks the debut of Abhay Chopra as a director and the interesting part is that it is apparently an adaptation of the Yash Chopra film that goes by the same name.

Just last week, pictures of actor Ranbir Kapoor with Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in New York went crazy viral and now, a video of Dimple Kapadia with Sunny Deol, holding hands, is swiftly becoming one of the top trends on the Internet. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the alleged ex-couple were spotted in London and flew to the city last month for a holiday. Self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan was one of the first persons to share the video on Twitter and wrote, “Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia are enjoying their holidays together. They are looking beautiful couple.” (sic).

As soon as the video popped up, Twitter soon started revisiting Dimple Kapadia and Sunny Deol’s alleged romance, which dates back to the 80’s. “Ishq chhupta nahin chhupaane se, kya faayda darr ke zamaane se,” tweeted a user. While Sunny Deol was criticized for spending time with Dimple Kapadia. “Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia affair still continues. Wonder how his wife accepts this. Ajeeb rishte of Bollywood,” “Sunny Deol is the latest example of ‘men are trash’. He has a wife, but overseas with Dimple Kapadia,” wrote the Twitter users.

Dimple Kapadia and Sunny Deol co-starred with each other in films such as Manzil Manzil, Arjun, Aag Ka Gola and Narasimha. Several media reports claim that Sunny Deol, despite being married, had given Dimple Kapadia the status of a wife and he was the main reason behind the actress’ separation with late actor Rajesh Khanna. However, none of them ever acknowledged their alleged romance.

Dimple Kapadia married superstar Rajesh Khanna in 1973, few months before the release of her debut film Bobby. Their first child, daughter Twinkle Khanna, was born in 1974 and Rinke in 1977. The couple separated in 1984 but never divorced.

Ramsay brothers and their epic collection of horror movies. Terms like cringeworthy, bizarre and sleazy don’t even begin to define these iconic horror movies, which at one point were the only source of entertainment for us. Although our film-makers have come a long way from where they began, back in the day we loved to watch a white saree-clad pyaasi chudail in some shady puraani haveli, taking revenge from some lustful zamindaar who possibly murdered her.

But, we have to give the 80s or 90s movies some brownie points, because they didn’t have any of the latest technology or VFX to f**k things up, they just ruined these movies solely with their acting along with baseless and senseless scripts. We agree that some films were truly amazing and way ahead of their time, but then these movies were released and we lost our hopes in Bollywood (in making good horror movies) all over again. While others would talk about ‘The Exorcist’, we were scratching our heads deciding which DVD to burn, ‘Amawas Ki Raat’ or ‘Khoon Ki Pyaasi Daayan’. 

But we can’t be selfish and keep all these golden movies to ourselves. Since life is all about sharing, we would like to make your souls cringe as well with these hilariously shitty horror movies from back in the day. Feel free to send in your suggestions to add to this list.   

1. Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche – 1972

A disloyal wife and her boyfriend kill her rich husband and bury him 6 ft under the ground. So is the key to the locker that has all the cash, which they desperately wanted. The man now returns as a zombie to avenge his death. Don’t even try to find any logic here because it was buried with that man.

2. Dak Bangla – 1987

A man moves into a mansion as a caretaker along with his wife, and suddenly finds himself being haunted by a mummy in the dungeon with a dark past. Don’t look around for a man wrapped in white toilet paper, because Indian mummies don’t follow dress codes. The guy with the red face is ‘mah man’.

3. Mahakaal – 1993

Archana Puran Singh, known for her *ahem* ‘subtle’ laughter, is the lead actress constantly under the attack of a man wearing steel claw gloves. Yes, this one is apparently based on the American horror film ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. They tried copying the West but then the Ramsay brothers saw the Bollywood signboard and rerouted the script to fit in magical snakes, sacrifices and a bloodthirsty evil magician, Shakal.

4. Papi Gudia – 1996   

Who needs Annabelle when you have a ‘Papi Gudia’ at your disposal? The gist of the movie is that a black magic practitioner transfers his soul to a doll, which then starts to walk, talk and kill people. We bet even Karishma Kapoor will not remember being a part of this film.

5. Purani Haveli – 1989

Call it budget constraints or love for underground dungeons, but Bollywood seems to be fascinated by purani havelis and the various victims it draws to the monsters locked in there. Add a tinge of a soppy love story and a spoonful of a lustful butthurt loser plotting against the main leads and there you have the recipe for a classic, f**ked up horror movie.

6. Khoon Ki Pyaasi Daayan – 1998 

A tantric tells a man to sacrifice two girls to improve his sex drive and manliness. Again don’t ask us about logic, we just lost it at the baseless connection between killing women and improving one’s sex life. It’s like charging your friend’s smartphone in hopes of getting a full battery for yours.

7. Pyaasa Shaitan – 1990

Literal translation – thirsty Satan! We understand some men are thirsty, but you don’t really have to make it obvious with such crappy movies. The film tells the story of a demon who sacrifices young women to attain immortality, just like the directors wanted us to sacrifice our brains before watching this insanity!

8. Khooni Panja – 1991 

We know people are possessed by ghosts, but this movie is special because here a girl gets possessed by the scary hand of a woman who was murdered by her in-laws, hence the name panja. The woman then seeks revenge against those who killed the owner of that ghost hand. *Facepalm*

9. Phir Wahi Raat – 1980

Who wants to celebrate their birthday with their friends, when you can celebrate one in a haunted house in the countryside? Well, at least Asha and her boyfriend Dr. Vijay consider it a ‘killer’ birthday plan. Quite literally, because Asha is soon haunted by a grotesque woman, who wants to kill her. Sounds fun!

What’s worse than a gruesome murder or an evil clown that loves to feast on kids? A murderer being haunted by his wife’s spirit inside a house full of deadly rats! This is not a story that we are cooking up, this is the basic premise of the upcoming Netlfix crime-thriller, ‘1922′, which is based on Stephen King’s novella of the same name. Imagine the nastiest and scariest of sh*t in the world – something that can make you pee in your pants out of fear – and you can trust Stephen King to already have something prepared on that. We are not complaining, we are actually in love with the various forms of phobia that this man introduces us to, with his bizarre imagination. If you feel bored after watching ‘It’ and looking for something spine-chilling, then this one is for you.

Netflix recently released the trailer of the ‘1922′ which revolves around Wilfred James (played by Thomas Jane) who loves his farm and his home a little too much. For him “A man’s pride was a man’s land.” But his wife Arlette (Molly Parker) wants to move to the city. When James refuses, she asks for a divorce and tells James that she will take their son with her to the city. Tensions aggravate to an extent where James conspires with his son to kill his wife. However, things don’t end there. The real action begins when the wife’s ghost comes back along with an army of rats to haunt the sh*t out of James.

The trailer looks eerily creepy and teases us with an open ending, leaving us confused as to what will happen to James. ‘1922′ has been directed by Zak Hilditch who is known for making movies like ‘These Final Hours’ and ‘Transmission’ and by the looks of the trailer, Hilditch has done a fabulous job in keeping the fear and mystery intact in the movie adaptation. Pick any movie adaptation of Stephen King’s work and they will speak volumes about the talent this man has in instilling fear among people, with his firm grip on horror, supernatural fiction, suspense and fantasy genre. Having said that, we also can’t resist ourselves from coming back to his work again and again and probably that’s the charm of King’s books and the adaptations inspired by it.

Well, life Arlette says, “Life is rarely fair”, and here even the darkest of secrets don’t stay buried for long. So get set to unravel these dark secrets on Netlfix on October 20th, but if you can’t wait that long then don’t worry, the premiere of Stephen King’s ‘Gerald’s Game’ is just around the corner.

We had met her recently at the Ganpati puja at Antilia and were delighted to find that Kavita Khanna, the dignified and graceful wife of the late Vinod Khanna, had put aside her grief and was once more participating in the swirl of life.

As is known, Kavita had set aside her life to care for the ailing and much-loved actor and politician, and had hardly been seen at social events over the past few years. Now, on the persuasion of her family and children, she had decided to re-enter the ebb and flow of daily life and her quiet and wistful presence, undoubtedly buffered by her spiritual studies, was a welcome validation of time and tide.

This weekend, Kavita and her lovely daughter Shraddha attended a pop-up dinner at a five-star hotel. They had opted for the vegetarian meal, while the budding actor Sakshi, who is the spitting image of his father, had dropped in the previous evening for the non-vegetarian option. Restaurateur-businessman and owner of Kolkata Knight Riders Jai Mehta, wine aficionado Sanjay Menon, and Gautam Singhania were also present on the occasion.

Helmed by noted ad-maker Suresh Triveni, Vidya will be seen playing a wife and a late night Radio Jockey in Mumbai. The movie is tagged with #MainKarSaktiHai, already giving us a very clear idea that it tends to be an inspirational tale.

In the one-minute clip, she is seen talking to listeners in a very sexy voice and shocking many around her. Her antics and innocence will leave you in splits.

The movie also stars Manav Kaul as Vidya’s husband and Neha Dhupia will be seen as her boss.

“Middle-class housewives have been portrayed as hassled and troubled in Hindi films, but I’m a huge Hrishikesh Mukherjee fan and he showed that even middle-class families can be happy. I want the audience to walk out with a big smile on their face,” Suresh said during a media interaction.

Talking to PTI, Vidya said, ‘Tumhari Sulu’ is a fun film. Sulu is a late night RJ and it will unleash the naughty side of me.”

Akshay Kumar turned a year older a few days ago and social media was flooded with wishes for him. From his wife, family, colleagues and fans across the globe, everyone came together to make this day a virtual hit.
