Bollywood divas – Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut are killing it with their smashing appearances at the coastal region.

After wearing a formal pantsuit on day two, Deepika Padukone opted for a pink fluffy dress for her red carpet appearance. In an Ashi Studio couture gown and jewel-toned pumps, she aced the look. Her smokey eyes and hair tied in a top-bun added the required drama. While she went dramatic with her eyes, the dimpled-diva chose a nude lip shade.

Mesmerised by her look, beau Ranveer Singh commented on her picture, “Gosh.” Choreographer Farah Khan even suggested that she should have worn this pink outfit at the Met Gala. This is what she wrote, “Should Hav worn this to the Met Ball..fabulous (sic).”

The actress made another change on day two, in which, she looked like stunning!

On the other hand, after stunning everyone in a beige bralette and formal trousers, Kangana Ranaut stirred drama on the red carpet in an embellished jumpsuit. Messy hair and jewels by de Grisogono, she completed the look perfectly. Prior to this, she had worn a six-yard inspired by the sixties, and this Nedret Taciroglu jumpsuit was her inspiration from the seventies.

Well, who do you think earns brownie points for carrying their outfits with panache?

This is Kangana Ranaut’s first time at the gala. She is representing Grey Goose, which is celebrating cinematic excellence through its global platform Vive Le Cinema. The brand is the official celebration partner at Cannes every year and this year, it chose Kangana to represent and celebrate Indian cinema at the Cannes Film Festival. Kangana was invited for an interactive session at the India Pavilion too.

Kangana Ranaut is living up to her bold and beautiful image as she’s making smashing appearances at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. After making an appearance in an embellished and backless gown in the French Riviera on Thursday, the actress stunned everyone by stepping out on the red carpet in a trussardi bra and jacket, paired with trousers, Manolo Blahnik shoes and a necklace by Alighieri. Needless to say, she looked resplendent.

Known for her experimental styling, Day 1 for Kangana at the Cannes film jamboree was about dressing up in a retro avatar. She wore a black shimmery sequinned sari by Sabyasachi Mukherjee and flaunted a bouffant-inspired hairdo, reminding Bollywood buffs of a style often flaunted by the evergreen Sharmila Tagore in her heyday. Kangana Ranaut was in conversation with censor board chairperson Prasoon Joshi at the India Pavilion, organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in association with FICCI.

It’s only a matter of a fortnight before Cannes Film Festival regulars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone head out to the French Riviera, armed with the best stylists and bespoke ensembles in tow. Kangana Ranaut, who is set to make her debut at the film festival this year, has already begun working on her look with a few international stylists.

A source, who is working on the actor’s look, reveals, “Kangana has told the stylists that the three colours she is keen on sporting for her red carpet turn are white, grey and blue. She is open to the idea of flaunting a different colour if something extraordinary catches her attention. The final look will be zeroed in on by next week.”

During her three-day visit, she will strut down the red carpet on May 10 as the brand ambassador of Grey Goose. Kangana Ranaut will also present an international film as part of the global celebration of cinema. “The remaining two days will see her doing media interactions where she’ll speak about the status of women in films.”

Kangana Ranaut says she admires ace designer Neeta Lulla for effortlessly fusing contemporary and traditional fashion. “The one thing I truly admire about Neeta is how effortlessly she fuses contemporary and traditional, giving the wearer the best of both the worlds,” Kangana said in a statement to IANS.

Lulla, best known for her bridal couture, is currently styling for Kangana-starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The actress will be inaugurating the designer’s store in New Delhi on April 9.

Kangana said, “I’m very excited that one of my favourite designers is launching her store in the capital.” With an online presence and a flagship store in Mumbai, Lulla’s brand is all set to make its presence felt in New Delhi with a brand new store.

“The brick-and-mortar retail space is something that has always excited me but films have kept me busy over the years. The New Delhi store is our first venture into this growing market and we are optimistic that it will play a key role in the long-term growth of the brand. “We are looking forward to adding more stores over the next five years in different cities,” said Lulla.

kanganaWhen we talk about being blunt and straight-forward people in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut’s name instantly pops up in our heads. She’s not the one who minces her words and we know this because of her famous battle against Hrithik Roshan.

Apart from being a brilliant actress, Ranaut is also known to speak her heart out irrespective of giving a damn about people’s perceptions. In one such recent interview, while talking about her forthcoming film ‘Manikarna’, Kangana expressed, “I am doing one of the biggest epics of 2018. No other film with a female lead has been made with a higher budget”, emphasizes on how proud she is of where she has reached in Bollywood and all the more how she has reached in Bollywood.

Revealing more about the same, Ranaut revealed to The Week, “I had to fight for my career and the money that I get paid. I have my houses and properties because I fought for them; not because of others. Big production houses exploit actresses; they don’t get the kind of money you think they do”.

Some also think that Kangana is digging her own grave by speaking out loud against a Karan Johar or a Hrithik Roshan. On commenting about the same, she asserted, “People think that I am fighting a battle every day. My life must be miserable. I must be having no future because I’m not friends with the Johars or the Roshans. It’s far from that”.

She’s fearless and speaking about the same, she stated, “To be honest, I do not go out thinking that I have to change society or make it douchebag-free. I am a good person, but not a great one. I am fighting for my rights. If I look like I am fighting for the rest of humanity, it is because fighting for your cause can lead to a collective cause”.

There’s no denying that Kangana takes her own stand and is thus criticise for the same. What are your views on this scenario? Tell us in the comment section below.

Kangana Ranaut says next will tackle stigma attached to being individualistic, Raj eager to reunite with Queen star

Kangana Ranaut in Mental Hai Kya post

“Ain’t I getting fishnet stockings back in fashion,” laughs Kangana Ranaut, referring to her zany look in Mental Hai Kya. Ahead of the film rolling, producer Ekta Kapoor has piqued the audience interest by sharing quirky looks of Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao from the promotional photo shoot. “The film deals with mental illness and hallucinations, but Ekta decided to take this route.”

Besides the incentive of reuniting with his Queen co-star, Rajkummar Rao says the “unique script” floored him. “I chose this part because I’ve never heard of such a character. I get a kick from challenges. Comfort zones are boring.” For Kangana Ranaut though, the choice was driven by a personal reason. “The way my life unfolded in the past few years, I realised there was so much stigma attached to being different. ‘Mental’ or ‘psycho’ were the terms used to shame me, but these can’t be used casually as swear words. When this script came along, I knew I had to do it to break the stigma around it. High time we made individuality aspirational.”

Ask her how will she walk the tightrope of depicting mental illness and she assures, “We won’t show people as pitiable, sympathy-seeking characters. We’ll portray the issue with sensitivity. The film takes a stand against equating individuality with madness.” Though they’ve worked with Kapoor on separate projects before, this marks the trio’s first collaboration together. Quiz them if they are worried about creative differences and Rao says, “We are all friends. Movies are more about teamwork than egos.”

With three bright minds on board, Ranaut says they’ll have a fair share of creative differences. “We are like-minded people who know it’s not going to be hunky-dory. I am not a sulkpot. That’s how Raj and I have come this far in life. Strong opinions don’t mean either of us is going to act like we know it all.”

mid-day had earlier reported how Kangana Ranaut had requested Salman Khan to part with the title Mental since she was keen on naming her next so. Though that didn’t work out, producer Ekta Kapoor devised a way to get another title that she says is “more fitting” for the Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao-starrer – Mental Hai Kya.

Kapoor says that she wants to give a facelift to the thriller genre with this project. “This is one of my favourite scripts. We’ve tried to bend the genre by adding dollops of black humour to it. With the crazy looks, the aim is to redefine thrillers.”

The Prakash Kovelamudi-directed film sees Kapoor scoring a hat-trick with Kangana Ranaut and Rao. “I have worked with both of them before. Raj and Kangana teaming up together after Queen further adds to the excitement. They have always taken the road less travelled, and played characters that have been emotionally and physically challenging. As artistes, they are hungry for something different and I identify with this drive.”

The untimely demise of Sridevi has left her countless fans as well as Bollywood in a state of shock

The untimely demise of Sridevi has left her countless fans as well as Bollywood in a state of shock. While a steady stream of B-Town stars visited Anil Kapoor’s Juhu residence yesterday to condole the death of the superstar, several others cancelled events that were scheduled for the week. Shabana Azmi took to Twitter to announce that she and husband Javed Akhtar would not be hosting the annual Holi party this year. “Our Holi party at Janki Kutir stands cancelled on 2nd March in the wake of Sridevi’s passing away (sic),” she wrote.

Rani Mukerji, who was slated to release a new song of Hichki yesterday, called off the launch. Another ardent fan of the superstar, Kangana Ranaut was stationed in Bikaner for the shoot of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi when she heard about Sridevi’s death on Sunday morning. So distraught was the actor that she cancelled her shoot for the day. The unit of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor-starrer 102 Not Out too decided to defer the filming of their song on Sunday, as a mark of respect to India’s first female superstar.

Ram Gopal Varma, who had directed Sridevi in Kshana Kshanam (1991) and had often described her as his muse, was grief-stricken by the unfortunate turn of events. He postponed the announcement of the title and poster of his new film with Nagarjuna, to a later date. The music launch of Maniesh Paul-starrer Baa Baaa Black Sheep, scheduled to take place today was also called off.

Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika may lock horns with Kumar’s Gold on I-Day weekend

Akshay Kumar may have slim chances of banking on holiday weekends in 2018. After pushing the release of Pad Man from the Republic Day weekend to make way for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Kumar may not be able to entirely cash in on an Independence Day release for his next, Gold, either. The development stems from buzz that Kangana Ranaut is also eyeing the August weekend for her Rani Laxmibai biopic.

Pointing out that a take on the warrior makes for a fitting Independence Day release, a source says, “Principal shooting for Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi will wrap up by March. However, an elaborate post-production schedule will follow. There are opulent war sequences and fight scenes, hence, abundant VFX work will be done on the film. The makers estimate a minimum of three to four months to complete it.”

While Ranaut too would have preferred a solo release, the source says that the holiday weekend will permit sufficient room for both the films to flourish. Given that Gold is also a patriotic tale, inspired from India’s historic Olympic hockey win in 1948, it also makes for an appropriate I-Day release. While a trade analyst had alluded to the change in the release date, producer Kamal Jain had said that an official announcement hadn’t been made.
