Rajkummar Rao is one of the most underrated actors in the country, but that hasn’t stopped the man from carving his own niche in the industry. Working with the quiet brilliance of an underdog, Rajkummar has found himself in the league of class actors like Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. While ‘Aligarh’ and ‘Shahid’ established him as a brilliant actor, movies like ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ proved he could pull off commercial roles with as much ease.

At a time when the industry is full of stars and newcomers are pulling off lead roles in big budget films, how does an actor as brilliant as Rajkummar Rao deal with everyday disappointment and rejection – something that is always a part of an artist’s life, no matter how big they are.

Rajkummar Rao's Advice On How To Deal With Rejection Is The Secret To Being Brilliant © Instagram/Rajkummar Rao

While speaking to Bombay Times, the actor said,

“I love what I do. For me, a film set is the best place to be in. As long as I am acting, it doesn’t matter whether I have faced rejection. I don’t even think of it or talk about it, because I don’t carry my past as a baggage. Neither am I futuristic; I don’t think about where I will be five years from now. This is life. Yahaan sab kuch hota hai. Rejection is also a part of it.”

Rejection is something we all have to deal with, no matter who we are. One could be a successful CEO, one could be an iconic Bollywood star – rejection knocks on everybody’s door. And when it does, we have two options. We can either let it overpower us and all our decisions or we can choose to forget about it till it stops making a difference. Most of us do the former; and it’s only human.

But the day rejection and failure stop mattering to us is the day we truly begin our journey towards brilliance in whatever we do. The shadow of impending failure never lets you truly give your best to something you do. Likewise, the weight of past failures prevents us from going out there and taking life by the horns.

If there is one thing that will distract us from the fear of rejection, it is work itself. When you work without the fear of failure and the lure of success, you focus only on the thing that matters the most – your work. This is not just the secret to being brilliant, it’s also the secret being happy. For failures cease to deject you; they are merely statistics of what did not work for you.

As Rao says, “This is life. Yahaan sab kuch hota hai.”

The much-awaited and highly-anticipated movie of all time – ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ – finally saw the light of the day last Friday. And if the Box Office collection is anything to go by, the Marvel movie has already broken the record of being the ‘highest opening weekend’ for a Hollywood movie in India, by minting close to Rs. 120 crore in just three days. And the numbers will only rise from here on.

I am sure most of you have already seen the movie by now. But am I the only one who contemplated uninstalling Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, just to avoid spoilers? While, this might sound like an exaggeration, but the internet is a cruel place and friends are demons ruling hell when it comes to doling out spoilers.

After all, this is one movie that most of us have been eagerly waiting for since the past decade and we can’t let anything ruin the experience for us. Having said that, this is also one movie for which you can’t even miss the post-credits scenes, bloopers or the deleted scenes. Because missing that is sacrilege.

We Bet You Can't Miss These AIB-Made Deleted Scenes From 'Avengers: Infinity War'© Marvel Studios

Talking about deleted scenes, AIB just got its hands on two exclusive scenes from the movie, which no one knew about. These videos are proof why there can be never another movie like ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

*Smirking* Sorry folks, but this was too precious to be missed by anyone and we just HAD TO share this gem with y’all.

However, jokes aside, this movie has truly left most of us in shock and in a state of depression. While I am still coming to terms with what Thanos did with just a snap of his fingers, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ did what it promised- blow our frikkin minds away!

Apr 302018

Avengers: Infinity War ends on a very sad note. I’ve been told it’s mandatory to inform you that there will be spoilers beyond this point. So, if you haven’t seen ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ yet, books your tickets and go watch it. Spoilers ahead.

Thanos killed off half the universe. It’s quite evident that this would include a lot of our favourite characters. But, the big question on all our minds is, how many of these deaths are permanent? In some cases, it is pretty obvious. In others, we can’t say for sure. Still, here’s a list of everyone who died on–screen in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and whether or not they will be brought back to life:

Loki

Loki was the most complex villain in the MCU till ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ The mantle has now passed on to Thanos. Marvel didn’t waste any time showing us this was a different kind of movie by killing Loki off within the first 10 minutes. He’s been the character we love to hate from Day 1. This is mostly because of Tom Hiddleston’s epic portrayal of the God of Mischief. He did ‘die’ in ‘Thor: The Dark World’ but this time it feels different. It doesn’t look like he’s going to be coming back. Will he be in ‘Avengers 4?’ Yes. But, it will only be in flashbacks and alternate realities.

Gamora

With news of ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ floating all over the internet, we know that the Guardians are going to return at least once more. That being said, Gamora was given a special death unlike some others who simply disintegrated. Even though it was a sacrifice by Thanos to get his hands on the Soul Stone it may just get reversed. The only question here is, if the Time Stone could be used to prevent Gamora from dying, why didn’t Thanos use it the moment he had all 6 Stones considering he loved her so much? The Guardians may just have to handle Vol. 3 without the most dangerous woman in the universe.

Heimdall

We didn’t get to spend much time with Heimdall in any of the first 16 films of the MCU. He did have a bit to do in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ but was missing, as expected, from ‘Black Panther.’ I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Idris Elba has been utterly wasted in the MCU. Now that Thor can use the Stormbreaker to summon the Bifrost at will, Heimdall’s main use in the movies is kind of over. He’s most likely not coming back in ‘Avenger 4.’

Vision

The only character to be killed twice in the same movie, Vision’s story is as complex as it is short. He didn’t put up much of a fight in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ which is weird considering what a formidable force he proved to be in previous movies. It’s not just phasing. Come on, Vision is about much more than that! There was a part in ‘Infinity War’ when Bruce Banner talks about how Vision is much more than just the Mind Stone too. They were even trying to separate it from him. This may just be an indication that he’s coming back. In fact, he’s most certainly coming back in Avengers 4. No one wants an emotionally unstable Scarlet Witch (yes, she will return) on Earth. Trust me!

Bucky Barnes

The Winter Soldier wasn’t integral to the plot in this one like the last two Captain America movies. But, that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt when Bucky disintegrated at the end. For everyone who was thinking Bucky was going to be the next Captain America, this is a huge curve ball. Steve Rogers survived and Bucky died. Talk about expectation subversion! That being said will Bucky return in the next one? Of course he will. Marvel is not going to leave Cap without his best friend. Falling to his death of a train in freezing temperatures couldn’t kill Bucky Barnes. Nothing will.

Guardians Of The Galaxy

All the Guardians except Rocket Raccoon are now dead. Just because Rocket became the self-proclaimed leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t mean he is going to get a solo run in Vol. 3. We’ve already mentioned how it looks unlikely Gamora will return. This means the rest of the Guardians are sure to return. Chris Pratt certainly will. So will Groot and Drax. That leaves us with Mantis and considering how she’s barely a Guardian of the Galaxy yet let’s just say her return is inconsequential.

Black Panther

This one we know for sure. ‘Black Panther 2’ has already been announced. As much as we know that the movie would still be great without T’Challa, there’s no way Marvel is going to kill off a character that just earned them over a billion dollars at the box office. In the words of the great HHH, ‘that’s not good for business.’ There’s no doubt in our mind T’Challa will be returning in Avengers 4.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch disintegrated while she was crying over the lifeless body of Vision. Not a fitting way to go for someone many people would say is the strongest Avenger. She even went toe-to-toe with a nearly fully-powered Thanos, Infinity Stones and all. She did it one handed too while destroying the Mind Stone with her other hand. If that isn’t epic power then I don’t know what is. Yes, they are planning on introducing Captain Marvel in ‘Avengers 4’ but that, in no way, means Scarlet Witch’s time is up.

Falcon

Sam Wilson was introduced to us in the Captain America movies because Cap didn’t have a sidekick after Bucky. But, now that Bucky is back, Sam is no longer needed. That being said, Falcon has managed to make himself an integral part of the Avengers despite being one of only 4 humans without superpowers on the team. (Yes, Ant-Man is not yet an Avenger.) Will Falcon return, though? I don’t think so.

Doctor Strange

‘Doctor Strange 2’ is already in the works which means the Master of the Mystic Arts is sure to make a comeback. He is the one who came up with the plan to defeat Thanos too. It would be a shame for him to not be there at the end to enjoy the victory. While we did get to see that he isn’t afraid to take huge risks in order to protect the Earth, just like the last time, he should survive and come back in ‘Avengers 4.’

Spider-Man

Again, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming 2’ has been announced for release on 5th of July 2019. I doubt Marvel plans to have Ned put on the Spider suit for that one. We hardly got to see Peter use the Iron-Spider to its full potential in this one either. With so many other spider suits yet to be revealed and Tom Holland being just 21 it’s highly unlikely that Marvel will give up on the character or the actor just yet.

Maria Hill

Maria Hill has never been able to come to the fore in the movies mainly because she’s always been considered a lamer version of Black Widow. She has had her moments but in all honesty you can’t imagine her being a part of the Avengers like a certain other Red (*cough* blonde) haired woman. This is in no way an indication of how good or bad Cobie Smulders is as an actor. But, it doesn’t look like Hill will be returning in ‘Avengers 4’ simply because no one would miss her if she didn’t.

Nick Fury

The glue that held the Avengers together, Nick Fury, had a very small role to play in this movie, only being there to disintegrate and introduce Captain Marvel. Since the MCU just introduced a whole new cast of African-American’s in Black Panther there’s no reason to have Fury hang around anymore. But, it is Samuel L. Jackson we’re talking about here. So, you never know. But, as much as we would like to see him return, it’s highly unlikely.

If you want to have a discussion about any of these people and whether they will return feel free to connect with me on Twitter or Instagram @seanhyams.

Do you believe in fate? If not, your stance on it might waver just a little bit after hearing this story about Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky.

Once upon a time, 15-year-old Elsa Pataky got a tattoo of Thor and then in a few years, she was married to the guy who brought him to the big screen. Now, that’s a story that you tell for generations. What a coincidence!

Chris Hemsworth's Wife Had The Symbol Of Thor Tattooed Years Before She Ever Even Met Him

Yes, Thor, it probably was.

During an interview with Vogue Australia’s June 2018 issue, Elsa talked about this cute little coincidence, saying how ‘shocking things in life are’. Well, shocking and perfect, tbh.

Chris Hemsworth's Wife Had The Symbol Of Thor Tattooed Years Before She Ever Even Met Him

Well, it might have been creepy or just a little bit stalkerish, but Elsa literally got the tattoo decades before Chris took on the role of Thor and then ended up marrying him. Talk about foreshadowing!

Elaborating more on it, she said, “Yes, it’s about Thor and I ended up marrying the man who plays Thor. It is shocking how things in life [turn out]. I just liked that [symbol] and the legend he had was so beautiful and I wanted to keep it.”

Fate, or whatever it is that brought them together, I’m so glad it happened because honestly, they look so perfect together. Here, enjoy a few pictures of the both them, because why not?

If you are part of the 20 people on this planet who haven’t seen ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ yet, what are you doing with your life? Bookmark this story, go watch it and then come back here so that the spoilers below don’t ruin your experience. You have been warned.

I’m going to assume that everyone who continues reading has watched the movie.

After Thanos has killed half the universe we see him living in a small hut on an unknown planet watching the sunrise just like he said he was going to. While this has got to be one of the saddest endings to a movie in the MCU (probably the saddest) there is an ‘Avengers 4’ slated for release on the 3rd of May 2019. That movie has a lot riding on it. It needs to fix everything that went wrong in this movie while also ensuring it’s not just a master reset on all the events of ‘Infinity War’ making it pointless.

There is one thing we do know, though. How the Avengers managed to defeat Thanos in the comics. There was even an animated TV series where the Avengers fought Thanos. Here’s what happened in both those story arcs and whether or not they are possible in the MCU:

First, the comics:

The comic series we’re talking about is ‘The Infinity Gauntlet’ which released in 1991 and was written by Jim Starlin. The story goes something like this…

The main motivation behind Thanos getting the Infinity Stones is so that he can impress Death by destroying half the universe and creating balance. There is no showdown between the Avengers and Thanos, no Infinity War. Thanos gets the Stones (Gems) and wipes out half the universe.

The rest of the story is all about how the remaining characters including Adam Warlock, the Silver Surfer, Nebula, Captain America, Doctor Strange and a few more band together to right this monumental wrong. Nebula is the one who takes the gauntlet off Thanos’ hand and then proceeds to wear it herself. Thanos eventually convinces her to rewind time to before he started using the gauntlet and in the ensuing chaos, Adam Warlock gets a hold of the Gauntlet and Thanos ends up as a farmer on an unnamed planet having given up.

Why can’t this happen in the MCU? Well, even though Disney now owns both Fox and Marvel, the chance of us seeing the Silver Surfer in ‘Avengers 4’ is highly unlikely. As for Adam Warlock, he isn’t going to be making an appearance before ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’. At least he isn’t planned to make one. Nebula is still alive but Doctor Strange isn’t. So, while it is possible we’ll see Nebula wear the Infinity Gauntlet at some point in ‘Avengers 4’, it’s not going to go down exactly like in the comics. That’s for sure. Also, Josh Brolin is not going to end up as a farmer on an unknown planet. It won’t be fair!

Now, on to the animated TV series:

In a TV show called ‘Avengers: Assemble’ Thanos took on Earth’s mightiest heroes with the full power of the Infinity Stones at his disposal. While I don’t remember the moments leading up to the battle clearly, I do remember how the Avengers managed to defeat the Mad Titan. They use Thanos’ ego against him. They challenge him to try and defeat them using just one Stone at a time. Thanos accepts the challenge.

He starts off with the Time Stone. He ages all the superheroes to the point where they are nothing but ash. But, as for Thor, he only grows stronger with age. He reverses the Time Stone beam and it hits Thanos leaving him very old and frail. He then resets everything he did bringing back all the superheroes.

Next up, he uses the Mind Stone to make all of them start fighting each other. The only Avenger who is used to being filled with rage all the time, The Hulk, convinces everyone to stop fighting each other and focus their rage on Thanos instead. Just like that, his plan is thwarted once more.

Thanos then uses the Space Stone to teleport and attack each of the Avengers. Hawkeye and Black Widow pick up his pattern quickly and counter him.

The Avengers then capture Thanos and everything seems to be going well until Captain America has a hunch that things are going too well. That’s when they realise Thanos is using the Reality Stone to influence their thoughts. They, subsequently, break free from his mind control.

Thanos then turns to the Power Stone to try and defeat them. But, the Avengers restrain him with the help of the Hulk who only gets angrier the more Thanos attacks him. This is when Thanos reactivates all the Stones, breaks free and destroys Iron Man. They then learn that Tony Stark has been back on Earth all this time working on Arsenal.

Thanos transports him to the moon along with his laboratory. Tony activates Arsenal and he easily defeats Thanos with some help from the rest of the Avengers. Arsenal then turns out to be Ultron and this leads to a whole new war.

There’s just one loophole here, there is no mention of Arsenal anywhere in the MCU yet. Arsenal was Howard Stark’s robot improved by Tony Stark. You never know, it may just be the Hail Mary solution ‘Avengers 4’ needs. All the heroes that need to be alive for this story to come true are alive so we don’t know. But, if they do go down this path, the introduction of Captain Marvel in the post-credits scene will end up being pointless. We would love to see Ultron come back, though just for James Spader’s voice.

What will they do? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Virat Kohli only needs to step onto the field for people to lose it, and when he wields the willow and unleashes destruction, his fans’ happiness knows no bounds.  Last night The Royal Challengers Bangalore played against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and while people can’t stop talking about Virat’s scintillating half ton, it is Anushka who stole the show.

Mauli first look

Riteish Deshmukh has started work on his next Marathi venture titled Mauli, after his successful acting debut in Marathi cinema with Lai Bhaari in 2014. An out-and-out action drama, Mauli is produced by Riteish and his wife Genelia Deshmukh’s production house, Mumbai Film Company. The film is written by Kshitij Patwardhan and will be directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who collaborated with Riteish on his last production venture – Faster Fene.

Genelia said Mauli is one of the most ambitious films produced by both of them. “With Mauli going on floors now, we will also be making a few more exciting announcements very soon,” she added.

Mauli is expected to release by this year-end.

The makers had announced the film in 2015, however, it was then slated to release in 2016.

The two-day India collection of Hollywood venture outshines that of Bollywood hits Baaghi 2, Padmaavat

Avengers
Avengers

Rewriting the rules of the Indian trade market, the Hollywood superhero trailer Avengers: Infinity War earned the highest two-day figure since its release in India on Friday. It outshined the collections of Bollywood biggies like Padmaavat and Baaghi 2.

With a collection of Rs 61.58 crore over two days of its release – earning Rs 31.3 crore on Friday and Rs 30.25 on Saturday – the coveted third instalment of the franchise has significantly left behind two of the highest grossing Indian films of the year so far. Tiger Shroff’s actioner and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s venture earned Rs 45.5 crore and Rs 56 crore respectively during that period. The Marvel franchise is even expected to beat the earnings of The Jungle Book (2016), which, with its lifetime earning of Rs 180 crore, has remained the highest earning Hollywood venture until now.

Padmavat

Trade analyst Amod Mehra says hitting the Rs 200-crore mark should be no mean feat for the film. “It is smashing records. I am sure it will seamlessly enter the Rs 200-crore club.”

Baaghi 2
Baaghi 2

Mehra acknowledges that not all international releases can enjoy the kind of attention that Marvel’s latest offering does. But, he points out that the film has earned this amount by releasing in a mere 2,000 screens. “When compared to the average screens that a Salman Khan or Aamir Khan film releases in [averaged at about 4,000 screens], this one has done well.”

Echoing a similar thought, distributor-exhibitor Akshaye Rathi says, “The film is not only ruling the world, but is creating fireworks in the domestic market.”

The Simpson focuses on a family of five – Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie – and their animated antics in the fictional town of Springfield

The Simpsons
The Simpsons

The Simpsons has become the longest-running scripted show in primetime American television history after airing its record-breaking 636th episode. The episode was aired on Sunday, surpassing a record last set by Gunsmoke, reported Fox News.

Gunsmoke started on radio in 1952 and eventually became a TV series that ran for 635 episodes from 1955 to 1975. The Simpson focuses on a family of five – Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie – and their animated antics in the fictional town of Springfield. In true Simpsons fashion, the show took aim at Gunsmoke — literally — in a gunfight battle between baby Maggie and Dillon at the end of last week’s show. At the end of that episode, Homer told the children that their series was about to pass “Gunsmoke”.

The Simpsons has won 32 Emmy Awards, 34 Annie Awards and a 2016 People’s Choice Award, according to the show’s website. It was the first animated series to win a Peabody Award, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for the theatrical short The Longest Daycare. The show has been in news of late after it raked up a controvsery over stereotyping of Indians in America’s popular culture.

It featured a South Asian character called Apu, who has had to grapple with the troubling stereotype of a convenience store clerk with an exaggerated, fake Indian accent since the show’s existence. The documentary The Problem With Apu touched upon how The Simpsons damaged the South Asian caricature. The makers of the latter show have since addressed the controversy.
