Akshay-RakeshA lot has been spoken about Akshay Kumar making fun of neighbour Hrithik Roshan’s two thumbs in his latest release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. But it is learnt the Khiladi had kept Duggu in the loop about the scene.

Now we hear Hrithik’s dad Rakesh Roshan has loved the film. Roshan Sr has a habit of calling up the actor and the director when he likes their movie. After watching Toilet, he called the Khiladi.

As he was travelling, he was unable to take the call. So Roshan Sr phoned director Shree Narayan Singh and heaped praises on him. As for Hrithik’s two thumbs joke, he feels it is all in good humour and should not be taken seriously.

He is a star, adored by millions of fans; he is Bollywood’s original khiladi; he is fit as a fiddle even at 50; and yet he takes out time to cook at home. Not just cook an ordinary meal, but make white chocolate mousse for his dinner guests. Akshay Kumar, you are setting the bar too high for us ordinary mortals.

Twinkle Khanna shared a picture of her husband Akshay Kumar and son Aarav, making dessert for their guests.

Akshay’s cooking skills are no surprise; the actor worked as a chef in Bangkok where he had gone for martial arts training. A man of many talents, he makes sure his children imbibe them too. He is known to have trained son Aarav with a strict fitness routine. His son has a black belt in Kudo, a Japanese martial art.

Now you could be the biggest star of the country but at the end of the day, you still have to cook for the missus! Perfect husband, perfect father, perfect khiladi.

Okay gotta go; have to start learning how to boil water.

Do you have a personal toilet or are your part of a ‘lota party’? For people who are alien to the concept of ‘lota party,’ it means a group of women going to relieve themselves in the farms or behind the bushes before the sun rises. In short, ‘jaha jagah mile, waha hug lo’.

Well, I bet for many of us, even the thought of that sounds like a nightmare. But what if you had no other option? Have you ever thought that having a toilet in your house is a privilege? If not, then maybe it’s time you do.

For most of us, the issue of 58% of India defecating in open is not our concern but director Shree Narayan Singh shows us the real picture of what our society has to deal with. ‘Toilet’ clearly shows how our religious beliefs, corruption, and government are responsible for converting India into a literal shit-hole.

Inspired by a true story, ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ is about Keshav (Akshay Kumar) And Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar). The story begins when Keshav falls head over heels in love with Jaya, who lives in a neighbouring village in Uttar Pradesh. They get married but Keshav forgets to mention it to her that he doesn’t have a toilet in his house and that causes a ton of issues and is the driving force of the plot. Keshav tries his level best to do what his wife wants, but his father and other village members are against the idea of anyone having a toilet in the house. The issue of basic needs becomes the root cause for Jaya to file for a divorce.

The film is a satirical take on how in the name of religious beliefs and traditions we justify the act of defecating in the open. And it just isn’t a stubborn persistence of ideology, these beliefs and traditions haven’t even caught up to modern sanitation yet.

Looking at the concept, it sounds more like a satirical take on a serious issue but director Narayan Singh has made it a very engaging and an entertaining film as well. The makers have done both the work of creating awareness but keeping the humorous element alive in the film.

It’s fascinating to see how the issue of a toilet that might not even sound like a problem to us, forms the gist of the story. The film clearly states how it is essential for us to build toilets for our women; after all, it’s a necessity.

You will undoubtedly love Bhumi and Akshay’s chemistry. Akshay is the backbone of the film and like always, he brings out the best of acting skills, making us love him even more. Bhumi on other hand is extremely efficient, honest and so natural. You are bound to love them toegther.

From Anupam Kher, Sudhir Pandey to Divyendu, all the other actors are great additions to the film. The first half is crisp and entertaining but it is the second half of the film that feels a bit too stretched. However, despite some glitches, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s film, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ feels like a ray of sunshine after all the dull releases that have taken place this year.

This film makes you laugh, think and contemplate. For many of us, this film might look and sound unbelievable because we haven’t faced such sanitation issues hence it is necessary to get a ‘whiff’ of what the other 58% of the population does in the open.

Having spent almost two decades in the industry, Akshay Kumar is one of the most bankable actors today. While many big actors’ films are tanking at the box office, Akshay’s films not only makes big bucks but also are loved and appreciated by the viewers for the social message they often have.

But when a successful actor like him feels that he hasn’t got his due as an actor from the industry, it’s pretty disheartening.

Swag is for boys, class is for men 😎

A post shared by Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) on Mar 15, 2017 at 3:15am PDT

While talking to a leading daily about his upcoming social satire film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, he said, “I still haven’t got my due as an actor from the industry, I just got the National Award.”

Well, many of you might point out that he is a recipient of National Award and a Padma Shri to which he stated, “That is recognition from the government, not the industry.”

People who are ardent Akshay followers or have read about him, are aware of his success and failures. There was been a time when the actor has delivered 12 flops in a row and despite that, he has he has overcome everything and reached the top.

There are very few actors who stick with the same people despite a film tanking at the box office and Akshay is certainly one of those guys. “I’m friends with every producer and director I work with. Our association is not limited to the films we’re doing that point in time. There are directors with whom I have had three flops, yet I have trusted them with the fourth film. A lot of people didn’t give up on me, so I don’t give up on the director if a film doesn’t work.”

When asked about how he often detaches himself after the film recovers from the box office collection, the actor stated, “Well, anyone would be nervous, but I’m lucky that I get to experience it three-four times a year. I feel less nervous than those who have only one film a year because then, the pressure is more. At the most, I’ll be sad till the weekend. Also, it’s not that I want to vanish when my film releases, as some sections of the media report. For example, I’ve taken a 15-day break from the schedule of Gold in London, to promote Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Once this film releases, I’ll return and resume shooting as people are waiting for me there.”

It’s truly alarming when someone like him who is at such a stature feels that the industry still hasn’t given him his due as an actor. Despite the fact that when the Khans’ films are failing big time, his films are the saving grace of the industry. It’s not just about the box office collection but also the reality that he has proved himself again and again and now is the time the fraternity paid its debt.

It’s a Jolly good morning here in Manali😉 Just arrived and already afraid of missing it when I leave…the crew & the film. #lastschedule

Akshay Kumar is one of those actors in the industry who often talks about social issues that we hesitate to even discuss. He encourages people to come out and speak out about their problems, instead of just living with them.

He actively takes parts in seminars where you will find him talking about self-defence, women's safety, and children's problems as well as encouraging people that they talk for help.

But, this time he went a step further and spoke about an incident that happened to him when he was just six.

It takes a lot of courage to talk about something as sensitive as this. Akshay Kumar revealed that he was molested by a liftman at the age of 6. At an international conference on Human Trafficking, he took a page out of his life and shared it with everyone in order to raise awareness about sexual harassment and abuse.

He said, “When I was a child, my parents always encouraged me to speak to them frankly about everything. Whether it was discussing a sexual issue or inappropriate behaviour, I was asked to come home and talk frankly.”

This incident affected him so much that he has to share it on this platform. “The cops took action and the man was arrested. I was a shy kid and was relieved that I could speak about this to my parents. But even today, I find it difficult to say the word ‘bum'. We must encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered.”

In a country where molestation and rapes happen every few minutes, it is important someone talks about it and gives it the required importance, instead of brushing it aside.

In the past, other celebrities like Kalki Koechlin, Swara Bhaskar, Sonam Kapoor and other have also opened about their traumatic past. This actually starts a much needed debate regarding these sensitive topics and gives people the push they need to talk about such issues as well.

Much power to Akshay Kumar who decided to stand up and speak up about something as crucial as this. We salute him!

akshayAkshay Kumar recently revealed a very uncomfortable truth about his childhood. The actor, who was speaking at a seminar on women’s safety, also touched upon the topic of child abuse while encouraging children and women to talk to their families so that they can be protected and empowered. According to a report on Mumbai Mirror, he revealed how he was once “touched inappropriately” by a lift operator at the age of six which still prevents him from using the word ‘bum’. Narrating the horrifying incident, the actor stressed that it was only because he opened up to his dad about the incident, that appropriate action could be taken against the man, who allegedly had a history of such crimes.

Akshay said, “When I was six, I was on my way to a neighbour’s house when the lift man touched my butt. I was really agitated and told my father (Hari Om Bhatia) about it.He filed a police complaint.Investigations revealed that the lift-man was a history-sheeter.The cops took action and the man was arrested. I was a shy kid and was relieved that I could speak about this to my parents. But even today, I find it difficult to say the word `bum’. We must encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered.”
