rajkummar-aishwarya-ndtv_640x480_61504162125Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s new film Fanney Khan has had its fair share of headlines already – the movie has been trending on and off for reports suggesting probable actors to have been cast opposite the 43-year-old actress. Actor R Madhavan was the most prominent name which repeatedly featured in reports about Fanney Khan’s casting. Speculation followed that Madhavan was not really Aishwarya’s preferred co-star for the movie – it was Rajkummar Rao. Now, the producer of Fanney Khan – Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra – tweeted to welcome Rajkummar on board for the movie. “Welcome aboard Raj, tighten your seat belt for the roller coaster,” is what Mr Mehra tweeted on Wednesday.

In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, the Trapped actor has also revealed he’s been roped in for the much talked-about role in Fanney Khan. Rajkummar Rao is currently busy shooting for Hansal Mehta’s series Bose in Poland.

In his interview, Rajkummar said that he was being considered for the role for a while and received a confirmation from producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment on Tuesday night, stated the Mumbai Mirror report. “We’re friends and have been discussing films for a while,” said the actor. Rajkummar Rao features in the recently released Bareilly Ki Barfi, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Ayushmann Khurrana.

Earlier this month, much was being speculated about Aishwarya not being too pleased with the makers for having reportedly chosen Madhavan over Rajkummar. But Mr Mehra dismissed such speculation telling news agency IANS, “It is quite unfortunate that such false and baseless stories are created to grab attention. There is zero truth to that, we are all a team and Fanney Khan is a dear project to the whole team.”

Arjun N Kapoor, the co-producer of the film also added: “There are some stories doing the rounds about disagreement in casting for the film. We want to put the record straight and deny any such so called competition or discord amongst the makers.” Fanney Khan is being considered to be a remake of the Dutch film Everybody’s Famous and will mark Atul Manjrekar’s debut as a director.

In the Mumbai Mirror interview, Rajkummar was asked about his co-star, the former beauty queen, when he said: “She’s the most beautiful woman in the world,” reported Mumbai Mirror. The actor also added the “detailed and different” story-line of Fanney Khan will keep him busy with script reading sessions once he’s back in Mumbai. “It’s a great story, there’s a lot of love, and the content is not just entertaining but is detailed and different. There will be lots of workshops and readings once I am back,” he informed. Will we hear him croon on screen? “I can’t reveal much about the character,” Rajkummar said.

Fanney Khan also stars Anil Kapoor as the father of a 16-year-old ambitious daughter and body-shaming is one of the issues that the movie tackles. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil while Bareilly Ki Barfi remains Rajkummar’s last film.

After charming us with their striking chemistry in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’, actors Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan are now coming together for Vishal Bhardwaj’s next movie which will be directed by Honey Trehan. For all those fans who were eagerly hoping for them to romance each other in ‘Piku’, their wishes might just come true as the reports state that Deepika will play a mafia queen and Irrfan will be a local gangster in love with her. The shoot is expecting to begin early next year and is apparently based on investigative journalist-turned-author S Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Deepika will play the role of female gangster Rahima Khan aka Sapna Didi who had apparently planned Dawood Ibrahim’s execution to avenge her husband Mehmood Kaliya’ death.

According to a report published in Mumbai Mirror, a source revealed that “The team had been meaning to meet for a while now. Since Deepika wasn’t shooting for ‘Padmavati’ and Irrfan is in town, they decided to gather on Tuesday to discuss the script, how their characters would shape up and their looks.” Talking about the movie, Trehan said in an interview, “Deepika and Irrfan are the final leads of the film. However, right now it is too early to talk about anything else about the film. And about casting the two of course you choose an actor or actors, because they will be able to portray the roles well, and do justice to their characters. That’s the same rule for every film and a case for every filmmaker.”

Earlier we saw Deepika fight with swords as the badass Mastani in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and have already seen her badass avatar in ‘xXx: Return Of The Xander Cage’. This time around, she will reportedly be learning how to wield a gun, after the wrap-up of shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. Irrfan, on the other hand, will start training and will be performing his own stunts. Irrfan is currently working on his upcoming project alongside Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar.

It’s exciting to see how Bollywood is gradually shifting towards throwing light on the lives of female gangsters. While, Deepika will place herself in the shoes of Sapna Didi, actress Shraddha Kapoor has already proved her mettle in the trailer of ‘Haseena Parker’. She will play the role of Dawood Ibrahim’s sister and her brother Sidhant Kapoor will play Dawood in the movie.

Alia-BhattThere was a tail-piece in Mumbai Mirror which suggested that Alia Bhatt is busy with projects throughout 2018 and has therefore pushed ‘Aashiqui 2’on the back-burner. The report reads, “We don’t want to be in Alia Bhatt’s shoes right now. Having it all does have its flipside. We hear Bhatt is a bit of a quandary regarding her father’s production company’s newest film, ‘Aashiqui 3’. Alia greenlighted it and so has her rumoured beau, Sidharth Malhotra.

But it seems that Alia isn’t too keen on the film, especially since her next releases are ‘Gully Boys’ with Ranveer Singh, ‘Dragon’ with Ranbir Kapoor and her solo lead film, ‘Raazi’, directed by Meghana Gulzar.Perhaps, she is doing her ‘Aashiqui 3’ for sentimental reasons, or maybe she’s hoping to recreate the chemistry of their last hit ‘Kapoor & Sons’. Alia Bhatt took to Twitter to refute these rumours and wrote,

The actor, who was speaking at a seminar on women’s safety, also touched upon the topic of child abuse while encouraging children and women to talk to their families so that they can be protected and empowered. According to a report on Mumbai Mirror, he revealed how he was once “touched inappropriately” by a lift operator at the age of six which still prevents him from using the word ‘bum’. Narrating the horrifying incident, the actor stressed that it was only because he opened up to his dad about the incident, that appropriate action could be taken against the man, who allegedly had a history of such crimes.

Akshay said, “When I was six, I was on my way to a neighbour’s house when the lift man touched my butt. I was really agitated and told my father (Hari Om Bhatia) about it.He filed a police complaint.Investigations revealed that the lift-man was a history-sheeter.The cops took action and the man was arrested. I was a shy kid and was relieved that I could speak about this to my parents. But even today, I find it difficult to say the word `bum’. We must encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered.”

‘Tubelight’ must have failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office but Salman Khan fans have a chance to rejoice. Their beloved police inspector ‘Chulbul Pandey’ is returning in the third installment of ‘Dabanng’- ‘Dabangg 3’.

‘Dabangg’ released in 2010 while ‘Dabangg 2’ hit the screens in 2012. Co-directed by Arbaaz Khan, both the films starred actress Sonakshi Sinha.

Salman Khan says his brother Arbaaz does not want to direct ‘Dabangg 3’, and that they will find a ‘good director’ for it.
While Sohail has directed Salman in films like ‘Auzaar’, ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Hello Brother’ and ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’, Arbaaz has directed Salman in only one movie ‘Dabangg 2’.

When Salman was asked about his favourite director among the two, he said, “Since Arbaaz doesn’t want to direct, I feel Sohail is a better director because he is more patient and with Sohail, you can improvise on things but in a similar situation, Arbaaz gets panicked and his blood pressure starts to fluctuate.”

“Now we are going to start ‘Dabangg 3’, so he (Arbaaz) told me ‘Very good, but I am not going to direct it and I am only producing it’. So I said, ‘Very good, we will find a good director for that’.”
