'The Hitman's Bodyguard' is an old school classic-buddy comedy': Patrick Hughes

With ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ prepared to hit the theatres on August 25, 2017, the Ryan-Samuel duo and their action sequences have been attracting a lot of attention. The director, Patrick Hughes, saw the potential for a chemical reaction between Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson.

While Deadpool actor Ryan is the tightly-laced, by-the-book perfectionist Bryce, Jackson is the madcap, no-holds-barred Kincaid. “The story of THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD appealed to me in part because it’s got that old-school, classic buddy-comedy flavour to it – with two contrasting characters with completely clashing life attitudes — and that’s something I wanted to maintain, but in a modernized way,” Hughes explains.

As THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD careens in near-constant motion from England to The Hague, erupting into outlandish chases by car, motorbike and boat, the production spanned iconic European locations. The breathless road trip nature of the film gave director Patrick Hughes what he calls “an incredibly textured canvas to work with.”

In conjunction with cinematographer Jules O’Laughlin, production designer Russell De Rozario and Oscar®-nominated editor Jake Roberts (Best Film Editing, Hell or High Water, 2016), Hughes set out to capture the raw energy of live-wire performances set against an array of exhilarating stunts.

Aamir Khan was confined to his home due to Swine Flu for some days but now he has gained convalescence and was seen on his toes as he presented the song ‘Main Kaun Hoon’ from Secret Superstar.

Few days back Aamir along with his wife Kiran Rao was diagnosed with Swine Flu because of which he couldn’t physically attend the event of their NGO Paani Foundation in Pune. But Aamir made sure that he and his wife attended the event virtually via video web conference.

aish+_anil Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer “Fanney Khan” will take up the cause of body shaming — which has become rampant across the world — in a huge way, says producer Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

“‘Fanney Khan’ is a beautiful father and daughter story. We have a new girl playing a 16-year-old daughter. It picks up the cause of a young girl in a big way. And you will see the film in many layers… It’s about her aspirations of getting popular.

“At the same time, it’s about the whole body shaming of a girl — most of the girls not just in India, but around the world go through… The male gaze thing or female gaze also… (which is) very scary,” Mehra told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

To be directed by Atul Manjrekar, the film has music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

A first look into the film — as shared by Anil — earlier this year, saw him dressed dressed in a blingy golden jacket singing his heart way as a spotlight shone on him.

ileana_640x480_51497608262 Bollywood actress Ileana D’Cruz, who is known for her no-nonsense attitude, says she has got all her films on merit and she does not want to impress people to get work.

“People could take (attitude) as arrogance but actually it is not! I could be very nice to people, go out for coffee and dinner or socialize to become their favourite, but I choose not to do that. I cannot sweet-talk to people to get a film,” Ileana, who will soon be seen in Milan Luthria’s upcoming film “Baadshaho”, told IANS here.

“Rather I want to be chosen for a film when the director would think that I can do justice to the role and that I am talented. So far, all the films that I have got are based on my merit,” she added.

After a successful journey in the South Indian film industry, Ileana debuted in Bollywood with the film “Barfi!” in 2012, and acted in various films like “Phata Poster Nikhla Hero”, “Main Tera Hero”, “Happy Ending”, “Rustom” and “Mubarakan” before the upcoming “Baadshaho”.

Coming from a non-filmy background, asked if she manages to make friends in the industry, the actress said: “I am not rude to anyone. As a professional I want all my co-stars, director, producer and colleagues to feel easy and comfortable working with me, but I am not walking into a film set to make friends.”

“I am here to work, this is my professional world and I want to do good work here. I do not take some extra steps to become a friend or develop a relationship with other co-stars. End of the film, if we become friends that is a bonus,” said Ileana.

So, how does Ileana spend her leisure time?

“I like going out with close friends. I watch a lot of animated films and TV as stress busters, I love shopping! I can shop from anywhere in the world whether it is from footpath or shopping mall, I shop from everywhere,” shared the actress.

Scheduled to release on September 1, “Baadshaho” has been directed by Milan Luthria and produced by T-Series.

Madhuri Dixit to produce Marathi family entertainer

415043-jkubrpk3 Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit is gearing up for her new journey as a producer. She will back a Marathi film.

The “family entertainer” will be directed by Swapnaneel Jayakar, and produced under Madhuri’s RnM Moving Pictures banner, which has already come up with e-learning and DTH content, read a statement.

“We at RnM Moving Pictures are very excited to step into this new role and start working on the project. It’s a family entertainer and we have a lovely team on board. I am looking forward to starting the shooting process soon,” Madhuri said.

The film, written by Yogesh Vinayak Joshi, is expected to be released next year.

Meanwhile, actress Priyanka Chopra is executive producing a comedy series about Madhuri’s life for US network ABC.

Malvika Raaj, best remembered as the girl who played the younger version of Kareena Kapoor’s character in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…”, is set to make her big Bollywood debut with Emraan Hashmi-starrer “Captain Nawab”

The actress has been cast in the lead opposite Emraan in the war drama, which is inspired by true events. Emraan will essay an army man for the very first time.

Director Tony D’Souza said in a statement: “We are attempting something new and so it was imperative for us to get the casting right. We were privileged to have met Malvika and have her on board.

“We put her through the usual rounds of auditions and she excelled in all of them. She is already well-versed with the business, having done a film as a child artist earlier and hailing from a family which has been in the film industry.”

“Captian Nawab” is presented by Emraan Hashmi Films and Oddball Motion Pictures.

Esha Deol, who is expecting her first child with husband Bharat Takhtani, tied the knot again at her baby shower. Esha and Bharat took three ‘pheras’ instead of seven on August 24 according to the Sindhi rituals of the ‘Godh Bharai’ ceremony.

Neeta Lulla shared a photo from the baby shower and Esha Deol looks beautiful as she poses with her hubby Bharat, mom Hema Malini and Neeta Lulla.

A photo from Esha Deol’s baby shower was posted by the actress earlier and she looks resplendent in traditional avatar with jewellery and gajra on her hair.

Esha Deol shared the photo on her Instagram account and captioned it, “Getting ready for the Godh bharai ceremony ! Hair done make up done… #GodhBharai”

Her outfit for the special day has been designed by Neeta Lulla. “Besides doing clothes for a lot of my films, Neetaji also made my wedding outfit. She adds confidence and grace to my look with her clothes,” Esha Deol told mid-day earlier.

Talking about the outfit, Neeta Lulla told mid-day, “It’s an asymmetrical Anarkali with multi layers of red and pink tulle, crafted with gota, zardozi and sequin embroidery paired with a sharara, which will enable her to walk around freely.”

Esha and Bharat got married on June 29, 2012, at Juhu’s ISKCON temple. The two were buddies since childhood and had met during the inter-school competitions.

Hrithik Roshan Might Play Mathematician Anand Kumar In His Upcoming Biopic 'Super 30'

After impressing us with his exceptional acting prowess in ‘Kaabil’, actor Hrithik Roshan is back in action and this time he is all set to take his love for Mathematics to new heights. Reportedly, the actor will most likely don the hat of mathematician Anand Kumar, in his upcoming project. Yes, you heard it right, the actor is in talks with the makers of ‘Super 30′, a biopic on the life of Kumar, although there is no confirmation as of now. If everything gets confirmed, then this will be the first time that Hrithik will work in a biopic.

According to a report published in DNA, Hrithik recently met Anand Kumar at his house, “I had a very nice meeting with him. He’s a fantastic person.” The actor further added, “Apart from the movie, I have engaged in a lot of other conversations with him about his life. It’s an extremely inspirational journey.” Hrithik, however, did not give out any details about the movie or his role. He told DNA, “It’s too early to get into such details. I am also looking at many other scripts. Nothing is official right now. But, yes this seems like a very, very good journey for me to collaborate on. We have to wait for the official announcement.” Vikas Bahl might be directing the project.

Further, Kumar after meeting Hrithik, reportedly said, “I am aware that Hrithik doesn’t look anything like me. But I don’t think the physical resemblance is as important as understanding my personality. I feel Hrithik with his sensitive approach to characters will be able to project my thoughts, opinions and world view better than any other actor.” In fact, if rumours are to be believed then actress Katrina Kaif too might be a part of the project as she too recently met Kumar.

‘Kaabil’ was no doubt a successful Bollywood film this year and the fact that the actor was approached by 20th Century Fox for a Hollywood remake only establishes the same. It will now be interesting to see how the actor places himself in Kumar’s shoes on screen. Kumar is an inspiration for the whole country. His Super 30 is a Patna-based Indian educational program founded by Kumar, which selects meritorious students from the underprivileged and marginalized sections of the society and coaches them for the prestigious institutes like IIT for free.
