There goes a popular saying, “You scratch my back, I will scratch yours!” And the people in tinsel town effortlessly do it. Well, it’s as simple as “you sing praises to me and I will return the favour”.

Every time a film releases in B-town, the makers of the film often hold a special screening for B-town people. The close friends and colleagues are invited and they become the first one to critic the film before anyone of us gets the chance. The Khans are often seen raving about each other’s film, giving us an impression that it is the best film of the year maybe. Do you remember SRK before ‘Tubelight’? Or Aamir Khan after watching ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’?

These celebs rule social media and often tweet about what they think about the film. Sometimes the reviews are genuine and we vouch for such movies too. However, lately, it looks like a trend that no matter how pathetic and disappointing the film is, the prominent celebs go all gaga over it.

Well, we are all up for the right of opinion but at least don’t fake it to the world. When a movie is a disaster, call it so! Lately none of Shah Rukh Khan’s films are performing well at the box office. But how can we ever blame King Khan for it? After all he is the badshah and the whole B-town needs to bow to the king. Exactly was the case when ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ released. While the whole world couldn’t get over the fact that why such a film was even created in the first place, you had director Ashutosh Gowariker and actress Kriti Sanon tweeting boosting SRK’s ego.

This Salman Khan film was the most disappointing film of the year. Based on the 1952 Indo-China war, the film was a lost cause and you don’t have to be a ‘Tubelight’ to figure this one out. However, Preity Zinta was on another tangent and rooted for this film to be a blockbuster. Unfortunately, not everyone felt the same.

A movie that was too cliché to even watch. Sidharth Malhotra didn’t fit the bill. But you had filmmaker Karan Johar applauding the film as if it was a masterpiece.

This is one of those movies that literally had the power to fuck with your head so bad, that you couldn’t help yourself from using curse words. But then B-town loved it. Varun was all ‘blahhhh….blahhh…..blahhh’. All those who heard him, regretted booking their tickets big time. On the other hand Ayushmann Khurana was just being nice to his co-star Kriti Sannon, after all they were working on a film together.

Well, there is no doubt that Vidya Balan aced her character, but the film wasn’t good enough to entertain the audience and make big bucks at the box office. Here are The Forbes magazines list of top 10 Bollywood’s highest paid 2017 Actors & Actress

535003-pc-dp-srk-sk Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are the only two actresses who feature in Forbes magazines list of top 10 Bollywood’s highest paid 2017 list, which is led by “Raees” star Shah Rukh Khan.

Deepika ranks sixth in the list with earnings of $11 million, while Priyanka shares the seventh spot with Deepika’s beau Ranveer Singh, with earnings of $10 billion. Both actresses have made their Hollywood debuts.

As for Shah Rukh, he has left his contemporaries Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan behind, despite getting a lukewarm response with his last few films like “Fan”, “Dilwale” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal”. His endorsement deals and profitable productions helmed by his banner Red Chillies Entertainment, helped him make $38 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017, before fees and taxes, reports forbes.com.

Not far behind him is Salman, who is ranked second with earnings of $37 million in the last one year.

Salman gained profits from the success of “Sultan” and “retains a slew of advertisements and a not-for-profit line of clothing and jewellery that benefits his Being Human Foundation”.

The Khans are followed by National Award winner Akshay, whose golden run at the Indian box office doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon.
The “Khiladi” star is listed at the third position at earnings of $35.5 million, with his hit films like “Rustom”, “Jolly LLB 2”, “Naam Shabana” and “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”.

Shah Rukh, Salman and Akshay are also included in Forbes magazine’s World’s Highest Paid Actors 2017 list and ranked at eighth, ninth and 10th position respectively.

With the unprecedented success of “Dangal”, Aamir is ranked fourth in the list with collections of $12.5 million.

Actor Hrithik Roshan has rounded off the top five with earnings of $11.5 million. Hrithik’s 2016 film “Mohenjo Daro” bombed at the box office, however, the actor bounced back with “Kaabil” in 2017.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan ($9 million) and actor Ranbir Kapoor ($8.5 million) have been ranked ninth and 10th in the list, reports forbes.com.

Earnings estimates are based on data from Box Office India, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders.
Together, Bollywood’s 10 highest paid actors banked a cumulative $183 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017.

It was the last day of shoot for the first schedule of Shah Rukh Khan’s TED Talks: Nayi Soch yesterday. During the course of the shoot, news came in about Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh being sentenced to 20 years in jail.

SRK took to the mic and said, “The director will perhaps not like it as it’s not part of the show, but I am happy to say Ram Rahim Singh has been sentenced.” The channel is not likely to air what SRK said about the self-styled godman who produced MSG: The Messenger.

Why is Aamir Khan missing from the highest paid actors list?

The Forbes’ list of the world’s top 20 highest paid actors 2017 was released yesterday. Bollywood makes its presence felt with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in the top 10. Surprisingly, Aamir Khan, whose film Dangal (2016) shattered box office records (it was a big draw in China too), is conspicious by his absence. The list of the highest-paid actors is based on earnings between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017.

Earnings estimates are based on data from media measurement and analytics company, box office collections besides interviews with industry insiders. Aamir detests talking about his earnings. Nor does he share details about his accumalated wealth. We assume this is the reason he does not figure in the coveted list.

SRK ahead of Salman, Akshay in world’s highest paid actors list

SRK--salman-and-akshay-kumar Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is ahead of Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in Forbes magazines World’s Highest Paid Actors 2017 list, which is led by Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.

The response to his last few Bollywood films like “Fan”, “Dear Zindagi”, “Raees” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal” at the box office notwithstanding, Shah Rukh still managed to rake in $38 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017 and is ranked eighth on the list, reports forbes.com.

Salman, who had one hit in “Sultan” and then a “Tubelight” that had dim earnings at the box office, was listed ninth with earnings of $37 million in the past one year.

Akshay, meanwhile, rounded off the top 10 with an income of $35.5 million. The National Award winning actor is having a golden run at the box office and has achieved success with all his films released in the past one year including “Housefull 3”, “Rustom”, “Jolly LLB 2”, “Naam Shabana” and the just released “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”.

Wahlberg has topped the list with earnings of $68 million thanks to Hollywood films like “Transformers: The Last Knight” and the forthcoming film “Daddy’s Home 2”.

He is followed by actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson ($65 million) and Vin Diesel ($54.5 million) at the second and third place.
Following them are Adam Sandler ($50.5 million) at the fourth position and Jackie Chan ($49 million) rounding off the top five.
The world’s 20 highest paid actors tallied a combined $720 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017, before fees and taxes. Earnings estimates are based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders, forbes.com said.

Ahead of Bollywood stars at the sixth and seventh position are Hollywood stars Robert Downey Jr ($48 million) and Tom Cruise ($43 million).

This year, the three Indian stars have left behind Hollywood stars like Chris Hemsworth ($31.5 million), Tom Hanks ($31 million), Samuel L. Jackson ($30.5 million), Ryan Gosling ($29 million), Ryan Reynolds ($21.5 million), Matt Damon ($21 million), Jeremy Renner ($19 million), Chris Evans ($18 million), Chris Pratt ($17 million) and Mark Ruffalo ($13 million).

Shah Rukh Khan visited Dilip Kumar late Tuesday evening to wish the legend good health. Wife Saira Banu took to Twitter to share photos from the evening. She wrote, “Sahab’s mooh-bola beta visited him. Sahab’s doing much better since return from the hospital.” King Khan was accompanied by daughter Suhana. He spent considerable time with the thespian and kissed him on his forehead while leaving.

A while ago, King Khan reportedly said his mother was a fan of Dilip Kumar and never missed his films. He has also said that she always thought he looked like the thespian. No doubt, there is an uncanny similarity between the two stars.

Writer, film producer and former actress Twinkle Khanna has lauded her husband and National Award-winning actor Akshay Kumar’s latest entertainer ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, saying the Bollywood box-office needed it to break free from constipation.

“Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, which released last week, collected over Rs 13 crore on its opening day.

Twinkle’s post hinted at the lukewarm performance of films like “Jagga Jasoos” and superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jab Harry Met Sejal”.

“Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” is in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to improve sanitation conditions in the country, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in rural areas.

It also features Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher in key roles.

Man who lost Rs 60 crore because of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan

Narendra-Hirawat Shah Rukh Khan suffered a blow with his last release, Jab Harry Met Sejal turning out to be a box-office turkey. Six weeks before the release of Khan’s love story, his friend Salman Khan, too, lost his Midas touch as the much anticipated Tubelight failed to set the cash registers ringing upon release.

While both Khans are reeling under the setback, the biggest victim has been distributor Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz. Rumours suggest he lost almost Rs 60 crore over the failure of the two projects.

Hirawat, who had bagged the all-India distribution rights of Tubelight, was in for a rude shock when the film did not recreate the magic of previous Salman movies. While Salim Khan had promised to compensate the distributors who suffered a setback, Hirawat denied receiving any compensation.

Speaking to mid-day, he said, “We haven’t received any money from Salman Khan. All these reports about distributors receiving money, are false.”

However, Hirawat is confident that Salim Khan will honour his word. “I have worked with them many times and we have always been on good terms. Salim saab has promised to compensate us for the loss. I’m confident they will do it. Whenever it happens, I will inform everyone about it.”

When asked if he expects a similar move from Shah Rukh Khan, he said, “The movie has not lived up to the expectations, because of which we have suffered a huge loss. Like Salman, I have worked with Shah Rukh in the past too. He is a nice person. I hope we get some kind of compensation for Jab Harry Met Sejal too, but it is all up to them [the producers]. As of now, there hasn’t been any word on it.”

We reached out to Salim Khan, who asserted that Salman Khan Films will soon provide the compensation, as promised. The celebrated screenwriter said, “Ek baar jo humne commitment kar di hai, toh woh patthar ki lakeer hai. We haven’t returned the money yet, as it takes time to calculate the amount. Many people are involved, so, it can’t be done overnight. We will definitely return the money.”

Pakistani actors Saba Qamar and Imran Abbas trolled for praising Jab Harry Met Sejal

Saba-Imran Pakistani actors, Saba Qamar, who was seen in the Irrfan Khan-starrer Hindi Medium, and Imran Abbas, who featured in Creature 3D (2014) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), have found themselves to be at the receiving end of trolls. The two have been praising the Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal.

This has not gone down well with the detractors across the border. They felt Jab Harry Met Sejal was a copy of the Pakistani film, Bachana, and that the two were resorting to such measures to get Bollywood offers.
