DilipVeteran actor Dilip Kumar, 94, is feeling triumphant, says his wife Saira Banu after the couple regained possession of their disputed Pali Hill property here.

On Tuesday, Saira Banu had announced via Twitter that they took possession of the property, which has been his residence for decades. She said the Supreme Court had restored the possession to them.

Commenting on those who tried to usurp the property, Saira said: “I can only pray to God to forgive them and hope they have learned the lesson that ultimately it is truth and justice that prevails.”

How is Dilip Kumar feeling about it?
“He is surely feeling vindicated and triumphant,” said Saira, adding that a decade of struggle to get back the bungalow has been full of pain.

“To describe the pain and desperation isn’t easy. As you are aware, it’s been a while since Saab has been going through various health challenges. Just imagine how hard it must have been for him to come to terms with the fact that some people whom he trusted in his own kind and generous manner have betrayed his faith and have plotted to rob him of his peace of mind and his rights,” she added.

Saira, who is always by Dilip Kumar’s side, says she has faith in divine intervention and justice.

“As I said, I hope the culprits have understood that we live in a country where the judiciary is impeccable in delivering justice and above all there is a divine court which protects and provides help to the innocent and truthful,” she said.

SRK-Suhana-Dilip-Kumar-lShah Rukh Khan recently visited Dilip Kumar to wish the legend good health. Wife Saira Banu took to Twitter to share photos from the evening. She wrote, “Sahab’s mooh-bola beta visited him. Sahab’s doing much better since return from the hospital.” King Khan was accompanied by daughter Suhana. He spent considerable time with the thespian and kissed him on his forehead while leaving. However, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Saira Banu has said how SRK’s contemporaries, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are more accessible than him.

She says that Aamir Khan is always just a call away in case of an emergency or even a request from some member of the family to a meeting. “He goes out of his way to comply with such requests and is constantly in touch. So is family friend Salim Khan and his son Salman. They often drop by, on festivals and occasions like saab’s birthday. Shah Rukh was the one who was difficult to reach over the last two-three years. When I pointed this out to him, he admitted that he has been out of the country on shoots a lot but promised to be more connected now. Saab’s taught me that it’s important to be accessible to senior actors when they are old and ailing,” says Saira, recalling visits with Dilip saab to Raj Kapoor, Om Prakash and Ashok Kumar when they were unwell. “These youngsters are good boys, God bless them.

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was last seen in the film ‘Qila’ which released in 1998.

dilipLegendary actor Dilip Kumar’s recovery from kidney-related problems is a miracle, says his wife and former actress Saira Banu, for whom it was a “nightmare” to deal with the sudden deterioration of his health.

Dilip Kumar, 94, was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital on August 2.

Saira, who has been married to the actor since over five decades and is 22 years younger to him, accompanied Dilip Kumar when he was wheeled out of the hospital here.

She told the media: “He is in good health now. All of it felt like a nightmare… How he suddenly fell sick. I am thankful to the Almighty… This has been a miracle.”

Saira thanked the management, doctors and staff members of the Bandra West facility for taking care of Dilip Kumar, and even expressed gratitude for fans who prayed for his well-being.

“The prayers were accepted by Allah and he is feeling well now… I can’t tell you how grateful I am to God that we have come out of this.

“It was a terrible thing that happened. Within a few days, he fell so sick that we just didn’t know what to do.”

She hoped that “after going home he will feel even better soon”.

Ajay Kumar Pande, Vice President, Lilavati Hospital, on Wednesday had said that Dilip Kumar was “critical” when he was admitted to the hospital over complaints of dehydration and urinary tract infection.

High potassium and creatinine levels had raised concerns that the actor may have to be put on dialysis. But doctors had decided against it after he started responding well to treatment.

Pande called Saira a “sati Savitri” for her dedication to her husband.

Saira laughed and said: “If a woman’s husband is India’s ‘Kohinoor’, why won’t his wife be ‘sati Savitri’. All wives love their husbands and it’s no big deal. Whatever I am doing I won’t say that I am taking care of him… It is my love for him and I am ready to do it 100 times more for him.”

Last seen on the big screen in “Qila” in 1998, the actor was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He is known for films like “Devdas”, “Mughal-e-Azam” and “Karma”.

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, who is undergoing treatment for kidney-related problems, on Saturday showed signs of improvement, said a senior official from Lilavati Hospital.

“He is stable, he has no fever, no breathlessness, he is conscious, he has eaten certain food prescribed by the doctors, his creatinine level is lower and his urine output is better, which is a good sign,” Ajay Kumar Pande, Vice President, Lilavati Hospital, told IANS.

The 94-year-old actor is being treated by cardiologist Nitin Gokhale and nephrologist Arun Shah at the hospital in Bandra West here.

He was admitted on Wednesday evening due to dehydration and urinary tract infection.

“As of today, he is stable and it’s a good day.”

Just a day before, one of the attending team of doctors had said they were considering putting the actor on dialysis.

Asked about it, Pande told IANS: “We’re not thinking about that because his creatinine level is lower and urine output has improved. These are positive things.”

Last seen on the big screen in “Qila” in 1998, the actor was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He is known for films like “Devdas”, “Mughal-e-Azam” and “Karma”, and is married to actress Saira Banu.
