While Deepika Padukone has worked in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the actress has never really been in a Karan Johar directorial. However, the latest post shared by one of Dharma Productions’ directors, Punit Malhotra suggests that Karan has directed Deepika for a new advertisement, the details of which are yet awaited.

Punit shared a photo of the trio and addressed the maverick filmmaker as a ‘new director’ and thanked Deepika Padukone for the fun shoot. He wrote, “Launched a new director at @dharma2pointo today… our very own @karanjohar!!! Thank you @deepikapadukone for a super fun shoot (sic).”

While Karan Johar did not reveal anything about their association, he only shared the picture, where, both Deepika and he are posing for the selfie. He captioned the photo as, “Left profilers! @deepikapadukone (sic).”

Karan and Deepika share a great rapport. Although the dimpled-beauty has just starred in one Dharma Production’s film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, she has appeared several times on Karan’s chat show, Koffee With Karan. Well, one never knows, this small ad shoot might be the stepping case of its translation onto the bigger screens.

Deepika recently delivered a box office hit with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, which earner over Rs 300 crore in India. Her next with Vishal Bhardwaj is on hold because of the deteriorating health of co-star Irrfan Khan. The actor is getting treated for neuro-endocrine tumour abroad and the makers of the film have decided to wait for the actor’s betterment before they begin the shoot. Amidst all this, the rumours of Deepika tying the knot with alleged beau Ranveer Singh by the end of 2018 are also doing the rounds.

Karan Johar is currently occupied with Dhadak, a remake of popular Marathi film, Sairat, which features debutante Janhvi Kapoor and one-film-old, Ishaan Khatter. Simultaneously, he is also producing Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan’s Simmba with Rohit Shetty and Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra.

Karan Johar’s one-year-old daughter Roohi recently called him papa for the first time. The filmmaker tweeted, “She said papa. It’s time for my mini meltdown (sic).”

Karan Johar, who is a proud father of twins Roohi and Yash, says just because he is a father now, doesn’t mean he will make a children’s film. Karan made his directorial debut in 1998 with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji-starrer “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. The first half of the blockbuster focussed on friends on a college campus.

Years later, he made “Student of the Year” that revolved around students played by Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. What about a children’s film?

“Just because I am a father, I don’t think I will be making a children’s film. I will make those films that have appealing stories. It is always story dependent. I produce those films that are entirely dependent on my intuition… when I read it or synopsis that I fall in love with and want to take it further,” Karan told IANS.

Meanwhile, KJo caught up with his Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) actor Fawad Khan in Dubai recently. Designer buddy Manish Malhotra shared pictures on social media.

Filmmaker Karan Johar says he knows that the society looks at a relationship between homosexuals with a different lens, and understands how tough dealing with it can be

Filmmaker Karan Johar says he knows that the society looks at a relationship between homosexuals with a different lens, and understands how tough dealing with it can be. The filmmaker expressed his views while talking about the fundamentals of dating amongst homosexuals on “Calling Karan” on ISHQ 104.8 FM, a statement said.

“Firstly, I don’t want you to divide what is homosexual and heterosexual. Let’s talk about it as a relationship. Yes I do understand that there is a difference because of society and I know how tough it is. When it comes to a man dating a man, understand that men are different from women in that respect. It’s not about orientation it’s just the way men are cut out to be,” Karan said.

“They don’t like anyone who comes on so strong initially and even if women had to do the same they would back off. So sometimes you got to take it easy. If you meet someone on a coffee date allow him to take it on a dinner date and then into like sex. And after that don’t immediately start painting the picture of a future,” he added.

Talking about the dating perception amongst gay men, Karan said: “Don’t be over-eager in the beginning. Allow a relationship to nurture as it takes a while. Stop trying to get married from the first time you meet them. You always feel ‘ohh!! This is the one’.

“Just because your lover is good in bed and you have a great physical chemistry or conversation chemistry doesn’t mean that they are your spouses for life. It just means that you are hitting it off and allow your relationship to breathe. Sometimes you yourself will realise that ‘hey! This one is not worth it. It’s not working out’ or maybe you will realise that ‘let me give it sometime’. And let me tell you, to look for monogamy in a gay relationship or for that matter any relationship in these days is not easy.”

karan_aliaAlia Bhatt says she is single again!

Yes, you heard that right! With the rumours floating in the air about Alia’s relationship status we now know it all, that she is single again.

And we heard it from the gorgeous actress herself when she called her godfather Karan Johar on his show Calling Karan on 104.8 Ishq FM to seek some advice.

KJo who has been donning the RJ’s hat quite well, has been receiving calls from B’town celebs for relationship advice on the show.

Similar was the case with Alia who was feeling lonely in the new year while seeing people around her with celebration plans.

Alia asked KJo what should a single people like her do when they feel lonely to which his mentor replied with much ease, “You are a great person with great friends around. Alia you have such an amazing vibe of your own, you don’t need a boyfriend to feel complete. You can have a great time with your own thoughts. Own yourself, create your own vibe and atmosphere.”

Here’s the conversation that they had:

Alia- Hello

Karan- Yes, who am I speaking with?

Alia – Karan, you don’t recognize my voice or what?

Karan- No, who am I talking to, this is me, you are calling Karan on Ishq 104.8. I hope you are doing the Ishq baby!

Alia – I am totally doing the Ishq baby but I am very sad baby because you don’t recognize my voice

Karan – Oh my god, it’s you Alia. How are you? Sorry I don’t know, I have been getting so many calls you know I am getting confused with the voices. How are you doing?

Alia – How can you get confused about my voice Karan? I am very sad.

Karan – don’t be sad, what makes you sad? What is your problem my dear? Tell me my child, how can I help you?

Alia- I just thought that if I am to take an advice from you, I should rather take it on -air. Since calling Karan is such a hit and since I am always calling you and always calling Karan, tell me right now on Ishq 104.8 FM

Karan – Yes, what do you want to know? What do you want to know?

Alia- It’s the holiday season right, like Christmas, New year, everyone is partying and those who are single feel a bit lonely. What about them? What do we do about the people who are feeling single? Like I am single and everybody is walking in and partying with someone somewhere

Karan – I in fact Alia, this is something I have said to you before or I would say to a lot of people which is you don’t need to feel complete because of other person and I say that to you also very often that you are a great girl, you have some great friends, you have such a great vibe, you don’t need a boyfriend to feel, you know, feel complete or feel completely like you’re having a great time. You can have such a great time even with your own thoughts, you are that kind of a girl. So I mean own yourself, enjoy your own self, enjoy the people around you, you have so many people who love you including your family and friends and I don’t think a boy should come there to kind of change your vibe, you can make your own vibe, you can create your own atmosphere. I always say that, like you know, we sometimes overrate relationships and underrate the power of ourselves. So I’m like, it’s a holiday season, go out, I am sure I believe you are going out on a girls vacation, so isn’t that fun?

Alia- Ya

Karan- Ya

Alia- that’s lots of fun

Karan- that’s going to be lots of fun, are you really interested in a boy to be around and ruin all that fun? You’re gonna have so much more fun with just the girls right?

Alia – Ya, not like I go out too much also, but ya you are right, so not to feel upset

Karan- not at all, don’t feel the holiday blues, feel the holiday highs because trust me you might be better off because who wants the frill of a relationship, the fighting, the arguing, the madness, the possessiveness, the yada yada yada you know the drill, I mean you know how it gets, I mean, you know how it gets. I have been single for so long but I am really in the best phase in my life. Of course, I want you to eventually find the right relationship and eventually the right husband

Alia- but no need right now

Karan- no need, you’ve got some amazing movies, you’ve got great company you are part of, you’ve got me, you’ve got friends, you’ve got your family and you are amazing Alia, you don’t need anyone

Alia- okay Karan, I love you! Thank you!

Karan- Alright, I love you too, have a good time, okay bye

Alia- bye.

Actress Neha Dhupia is the host of ‘BFFs with Vogue’ season 2, which goes on air today on Colors Infinity at 8 pm. After watching glimpses of the show, we just have one word ‘amazing’

Neha Dhupia
Neha Dhupia is all excited for her upcoming talk-show ‘BFFs with Vogue’ to on air today.

Actress Neha Dhupia is the host of ‘BFFs with Vogue’ season 2, which goes on air today on Colors Infinity at 8 pm. After watching glimpses of episode one with the flamboyant filmmaker Karan Johar and his ‘Bff’ Shweta Bachchan Nanda, we can clearly say that with her wit and humour, she has added the sass to this show. She promises one to literally roll on the floor after watching the episodes. From making celebrities like Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone eat red chillies to getting them stripped for not answering her question, Neha is quite a task-master! A master everyone would love to dive deep into her conversations. From hinting at her new business venture, curiosity to know more about Salman Khan and her not-so-spoken love life, the actress pours her heart out in this candid conversation with mid-day online.

Excerpts from the interview:

How do you manage the difficult task of getting the celebrities talk about their personal lives on the show?
I don’t know. I feel that whatever you’re doing when you are in a conversation like we are or anybody else, the first thing is the comfort. The minute you get comfortable, conversations come out. It’s pretty amazing. So, I feel now that after being in the business for so many years I have comfort with a lot of people who were on the show. They’ve all been friends and there were some who I never met in my life before. We had wonderful questions and great conversation. I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I want to say this in complete modesty that I had lots of fun. Now, when you’re having fun, it transcends and the camera picks up from the smallest to the largest emotion and exactly what’s going on in your head and your heart. The camera knows you as well as a parent. I’m hoping that they have kept the best part of the show.

What difference did you feel while talking to guests you already know and the ones who you were meeting for the first time?
I’ll tell you the people I didn’t know at all; there was Juhi Chawla, Anisha Padukone (Deepika Padukone’s sister)and Radhika Apte, who I had met for the first time properly on the show and all three of them were so comfortable and we had lots of fun. You don’t need to hear more than that. It’s not about how eloquent, well-versed or worldly knowledge you have, that’s not what a conversation is, it’s having fun, being comfortable and enjoying yourself.

What makes ‘BFFs with Vogue’ different from other talk shows?
Here, people come up with their Best Friends Forever (BFF), plays a fun game and all our segments are different from other talk shows. I know that there is a direct comparison between m a really big show and I’m not anywhere in the running. I’m a fan of ‘Koffee With Karan’. So, even drawing a comparison for me, I don’t care what happens, I think it’s a compliment for me. I love being in conversations and getting to know people. So, I think my interest towards this concept would make it interesting.

We get to see a new unadulterated Neha nowadays. What is the secret behind this revival?
I’m just being myself and I’ve always been this person. It’s now that the audience has tapped into that side of me. It’s great and I hope it lasts. Some people tell me that you have found your niche and I always turn around and say that I haven’t found my niche, I’m just being myself. The only thing I always wanted to do is films and I want to do that for the rest of my life. This is my personal life doing this show, films are my professional life. I’ve really enjoyed myself and now I’m hoping that people enjoy it too.

What made you take up this show as a host?
It was an offer that was put forward via Viacom. Mr. Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors called me up and asked, ‘Would you like to do this?’ and I said that let me think about it. Then, there was no communication for almost two months and I still remember I was shopping at Sohu in New York and I see Raj Nayak calling. It was somewhere at 1 or 2 o’clock at night and I thought to myself that this is a really odd time to call. He called up and said that I know you are in New York and you are doing this show. That’s it and he hung up the call. When people show so much faith in you, one just has to go ahead and say ‘yes’.

The show will go on air from today but the conversations from it have already made headlines. Do you think that is a drawback?
No headline has ever hurt anyone unless it’s a crime. So, in our business making headline is not a crime. I would say that it’s definitely going to work for the show.

Who do you think were at their candid best on the show?
I think Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Deepika Padukone, Bhumi Pednekar and Alia Bhatt were at their candid best.

And who do you think were politically correct?
Somebody who is politically correct is Katrina Kaif and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Talking about your show’s segment ‘Say it or Strip it’, who did you personally want to see getting stripped and tweaked the questions on the spot to make them difficult?
If Sidharth Malhotra or Varun Dhawan would come up on the show then maybe them but apart from that I had no particular interest in seeing anyone strip. Yes, Katrina, she has abs but she didn’t take her shirt off.

Soha Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Karan Johar are your best pals from Bollywood. Would you want to be with them on the other side of the couch?
I would love to be on the other side with Karan.

And be interviewed by?
By somebody who knows us really well. I wouldn’t mind swapping places with Shweta Bachchan Nanda. She actually has a whole bunch of questions to ask.

An actor’s life you would be interested in knowing about?
I would be interested in knowing more about Salman (Khan). He makes us believe that we know about him but we actually don’t.

Is Neha Dhupia in love?
Not yet. I’m getting there.

Character-based roles are specially written in movies today and you are one of the actors who’s always known for character-based roles. What are the kind of characters you are looking out for?

I’m just looking out for interesting parts. I cannot look around and say that I am looking out for work where I’m going to be a woman where three hunks will be chasing me and it’s not going to happen. I’m pretty certain and that’s where my reality check is. My next film is with Karan Johar, a short film titled, ‘Ice-cream’. I’m also on the verge of signing something about which you’ll get to know by next week. I also have ‘Roadies’ coming up, for which I’ll be travelling to Arunachal Pradesh and living in a tent for a month. Soon after that I come and shoot for my film in February and then shoot for it again in April. My calendar is full till April and after that I don’t know what I am doing. The entrepreneur side in me may shine little bit through in 2018.

Karan Johar, who launched Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in Bollywood five years ago with Student Of The Year, supports them at every step. Recently, Malhotra was on the set of India’s Next Superstars to promote his next, Aiyaary.

When KJo also started rooting for the film, the hosts reminded him that it isn’t his production. To which, Johar replied, “I have not produced Aiyaary, but I have produced Sidharth Malhotra.”

As reality drama India’s Next Superstar receives flak for allowing Angela Krislinzki as contestant, those involved say it’s ‘about making it big’

While it was meant to pave the way for better roles, a supporting act in the recently released 1921 has turned out to be a thorn for Angela Krislinzki. Cinephiles heading to watch the Vikram Bhatt venture, featuring Zareen Khan and Karan Kundra, were quick to notice Krislinzki’s familiar face. The Polish model, they realised, is also a participant on the reality show, India’s Next Superstar, supposedly judging “newcomers”. It is now learnt that Krislinzki has several gigs to her credit, with her debut dating to 2008.

Portals were quick to slam the talent hunt show for promoting an existing Bollywood artiste on a platform that was supposed to give “fresh faces” an opportunity. However, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who apparently scouted for the participants across 20 cities following auditions, finds little merit in the criticism. Talking about the format of the show, judged by Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty, he says, “We have shortlisted people on talent showcased in auditions. Krislinzki was brought aboard after we found merit in her craft.”

Asserting that an artiste playing smaller roles has the authority to better her prospects in the industry, Chhabra adds, “The concept of the show is to launch people in lead roles, so I don’t see an issue here,” he says, his statements strongly contradicting that of Shetty, who had reportedly said that the show was indeed for “newcomers.” “I think the channel would be in a better position to answer this,” Chhabra says dismissingly. Krislinzki reiterated Chhabra’s claim, stating, “The show isn’t for debutantes alone. I don’t want to do small roles and will work hard to enter the big league. This is a brilliant platform, one that allows me to hone my skills.” Channel Star India refused to comment.

Who is Angela Krislinzki?
Polish-Indian model Krislinzki was seen in the first season of the reality show, MTV Splitsvilla. This was followed by turns in Telugu and Tamil cinema, where she was seen in item numbers and smaller roles. More recently, she featured in the acclaimed 2017 Telugu/Kannada film, Rogue. In the Bollywood film, 1921, Krislinzki appears as the antagonist.

In April last year, Krislinzki had also courted attention for her statements about Hrithik Roshan, who she featured with in at least two commercials. When she referred to him as a mentor friend, Roshan took to Twitter to question: “My dear lady, who are you and why are u lying (sic).” Krislinzki later apologised asserting that she merely implied he inspires her.
