Remember Polish model-actor Angela Krislinzki? Last year, she created a stir when she spoke about Hrithik Roshan being her mentor. Early this year, she found herself mired in controversy as a contestant on the reality show, India’s Next Superstars, judged by Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty. The show was meant to be for newcomers, but Angela had acted in Vikram Bhatt’s 1921 and in South films.

Cinephiles, who watched the Vikram Bhatt venture, featuring Zareen Khan and Karan Kundra, were quick to notice Krislinzki’s familiar face. It was later learnt that Krislinzki has several gigs to her credit, with her debut dating to 2008. Krislinzki had stated that, “the show isn’t for debutantes alone. I don’t want to do small roles and will work hard to enter the big league. This is a brilliant platform, one that allows me to hone my skills.” Angela Krislinzki’s beginning anew with some interesting films. But Angela and controversies always seem to go hand-in-hand.

It is a powerful parallel role. The last time Abhishek played a character with dark shades was in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan (2010). Simmba is a remake of the Telugu film, Temper (2015), and is co-produced by Karan Johar and Rohit. Sources add that KJo is also keen to have buddy Abhishek on board. Let’s wait for the announcement. ranveerWell, after his stint in “Padmaavat” the actor has got new fans and so are everyone even more excited for his upcoming films. Well, one such film is Rohit Shetty’s “Simmba”.

A source said to a leading tabloid, “He will make a stylish entry to the hoot of ‘Aala re aala Simmba aala.’ The idea to introduce Ranveer in his new avatar stems from the fact that it’s been a while since he has been seen in an action-packed masala movie.”

As it will be for the first time that the actor will be working with Rohit Shetty in a film, talking about the same he said, “I have admired Rohit sir’s work for a very long time now. We also have Karan Johar as the producer in this film. It’s a genre or brand of cinema that I thoroughly love. Of course, socially, I interact with people who are the ‘multiplex audience’, but my heart is ‘massy’ and that’s actually what I get a huge kick out of.”

“My aim is to make the best Rohit Shetty film, with whatever I can contribute from my end as the leading man. I want to make Simmba his best film. I feel we should make such a high voltage mainstream film that it should become the benchmark for performances in mainstream zone. I am extremely blessed and thankful that I got this incredible opportunity,” he further said.

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is in no mood to mess with actress Kangana Ranaut

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is in no mood to mess with actress Kangana Ranaut.

The director expressed his views while shooting for TV show “India’s Next Superstars”.

In an impromptu session, judge and filmmaker Karan Johar requested to see a different side of the two and decided to come up with an act where he will direct a sexy scene between Kangana and Rohit.

The context of the scene was that Rohit was the former lover and Kangana as the girlfriend who wants him back, read a statement.

Rohit had to say the dialogue from “Deewaar”, “Aaj mere paas building hai, property hai, bank balance hai, bangla hai, gaadi hai, kya hai kya hai tumhare pass?” in a sensual way to which they sportingly agreed.

As soon as Karan said action, Kangana touched him to attract him as per the script.

Rohit said: “Na bhai na, isse panga kaun lega? (No way, who will mess with her?)”.

The show is aired on Star Plus.

As reality drama India’s Next Superstar receives flak for allowing Angela Krislinzki as contestant, those involved say it’s ‘about making it big’

While it was meant to pave the way for better roles, a supporting act in the recently released 1921 has turned out to be a thorn for Angela Krislinzki. Cinephiles heading to watch the Vikram Bhatt venture, featuring Zareen Khan and Karan Kundra, were quick to notice Krislinzki’s familiar face. The Polish model, they realised, is also a participant on the reality show, India’s Next Superstar, supposedly judging “newcomers”. It is now learnt that Krislinzki has several gigs to her credit, with her debut dating to 2008.

Portals were quick to slam the talent hunt show for promoting an existing Bollywood artiste on a platform that was supposed to give “fresh faces” an opportunity. However, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who apparently scouted for the participants across 20 cities following auditions, finds little merit in the criticism. Talking about the format of the show, judged by Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty, he says, “We have shortlisted people on talent showcased in auditions. Krislinzki was brought aboard after we found merit in her craft.”

Asserting that an artiste playing smaller roles has the authority to better her prospects in the industry, Chhabra adds, “The concept of the show is to launch people in lead roles, so I don’t see an issue here,” he says, his statements strongly contradicting that of Shetty, who had reportedly said that the show was indeed for “newcomers.” “I think the channel would be in a better position to answer this,” Chhabra says dismissingly. Krislinzki reiterated Chhabra’s claim, stating, “The show isn’t for debutantes alone. I don’t want to do small roles and will work hard to enter the big league. This is a brilliant platform, one that allows me to hone my skills.” Channel Star India refused to comment.

Who is Angela Krislinzki?
Polish-Indian model Krislinzki was seen in the first season of the reality show, MTV Splitsvilla. This was followed by turns in Telugu and Tamil cinema, where she was seen in item numbers and smaller roles. More recently, she featured in the acclaimed 2017 Telugu/Kannada film, Rogue. In the Bollywood film, 1921, Krislinzki appears as the antagonist.

In April last year, Krislinzki had also courted attention for her statements about Hrithik Roshan, who she featured with in at least two commercials. When she referred to him as a mentor friend, Roshan took to Twitter to question: “My dear lady, who are you and why are u lying (sic).” Krislinzki later apologised asserting that she merely implied he inspires her.

He’s Bollywood’s man with the Midas touch. Almost a month after his Diwali offering, ‘Golmaal Again’, released, the film is still enjoying a run at cinema halls across the country, and raking in the moolah. Interestingly, more than the actors in the franchise, Shetty has grown to become the stellar attraction of the film. Inarguably, his persona plays a pivotal role in pulling the audience to theatres. Shetty is a star in his own right.

The comic caper, which crossed the R200 crore mark in net domestic box-office collections last week, has now hit R300 crore at the global market. It is being upheld as among the top 10 Hindi films of all times. But even as the film appears to surpass records with its numbers, the director-producer has not stopped counting. “Every morning, I wake up to a new figure,” says Shetty. “We are still keeping track of the numbers. I am elated, but more than me, the guys in my office [are excited]. There is a spring in their step. Seeing them smile and laugh is the most heartening thing for me.”

Even though his faith in his outing was evident when he shrugged off questions about the film clashing with Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar, Shetty admits the success has exceeded his expectations. “When I first saw the final edit, I knew it would do well; but I didn’t expect it to do so well. I have been watching the film with the audience at different theatres in Mumbai. I quietly slink in when the auditorium’s lights dim. Seeing viewers roar in delight gives me a high. And when people say they are seeing it for the second and third time, I tell myself, ‘Man, you got it right!'”

Not known to be party-hearty, he has been celebrating with unit hands and family by treating them to dinners, even agreeing to a visit to expensive places of their choice. “When I am not working, I am at home. I am made like this, what to do?” he sheepishly admits.

Whenever we grab hold of Shetty, he is quick to attribute every success to his crew. Filmmaking, he says, is always a team effort. “From the star to the spotboy, every member plays a part in the success of the film. I can’t take all the credit.” Neither is he taking the acclaim, nor a well-earned break. “But, perhaps in December when my son [Ishaan] has a break from school during Christmas and New Year, we might go on a vacation. I don’t know where [we will go]; Ishaan decides the destination.”

Until then, it’s still all work and no play for Shetty. He has begun the pre-production work for his next, the remake of the Telugu film Temper (2015). The piles of papers scattered on his office desk are testimony that he has already sunk his head deep into the project. “We are working on the script. The film will roll by the end of April,” he says simply of the film, which marks his first Bollywood collaboration with Ranveer Singh.

The “awesome” actor, Shetty had alluded to, would fit the bill of the corrupt cop well, and tells us now that his preference to cast artistes based on their suitability for the role gains precedence over favouritism. Even though he has collaborated with Ajay Devgn several times since his first outing, Zameen (2003), he avoids fuelling the industry’s camp mentality. “Why should I? I don’t live in a camp. I live in a seven-storied building,” he jokes, as we thank our stars that he used better judgement while picking puns for the comic caper. Shetty is known to complete his projects in a start-to-finish schedule. He credits the detailing that goes into the pre-production for his ability to pull them off in time. “The technicians have worked with me for years, so they know exactly what I want. We work in tandem.”

A still from the film

His small screen outings since he debuted nine years ago, have made him a household name. He’s teaming up with Karan Johar for a reality show to find the country’s next superstar. But fans of the stylish filmmaker are hopeful that, like his contemporaries, Shetty too would give acting a go. The answer is a firm, “No.” “I’d rather remain behind the camera, but I have driven cars in my films during action sequences in blink-and-you-miss-it roles.”

There are already two films lined up for Christmas Eve 2018. Aanand L Rai’s untitled Shah Rukh Khan-starrer and Rohit Shetty’s action thriller with Ranveer Singh had earlier booked the Xmas slot. King Khan has been shooting for Rai’s film for a while now. Ranveer’s project, a remake of the Telugu film Temper, will roll next year. With buzz that Sara cannot take on any other projects till the release of Kedarnath, her wait just got longer. This festive clash will make Santa Clause’s sack of gifts even heavier.

55398779After making a successful singing debut with “Maana ke hum yaar nahi” earlier this year, actress Parineeti Chopra is now set to record another song.

The actress is busy shooting for Rohit Shetty’s “Golmaal Again”. Asked if she has sung in the upcoming film, she told select media, including IANS, here: “No. I haven’t sung. I’m trying to butter up Rohit sir to let me sing one small thing. I’m going to release a second song soon though. I’m working on it. It’s going to be a good one.”

“The first song did really well. So, I want to take this forward. I’m yet to record it,” she added.

The actress, who has starred in Yash Raj Films projects like “Ishaqzaade”, “Shuddh Desi Romance” and “Daawat-e-Ishq”, said with “Golmaal Again” — the fourth part in the “Golmaal” series — she has joined the big league.

“I don’t think anybody in this country has not seen ‘Golmaal’. My dad knows every character by heart. I think he was the most excited when I signed ‘Golmaal’ because he is the ‘massy’ audience. For me, it was an honour to sign the film because it was literally like joining the big league,” she said.

“Being Rohit Shetty’s (director) heroine, actor Ajay Devgn’s heroine…it was a big deal for me. The movies that I have done were with boys mostly of my age. It was like stepping up into the big game. So obviously, I felt proud of myself because I earned that,” she added.

“Golmaal” is one the biggest films of the year, she said.

“It is one of the most expensive and biggest franchises. I don’t think any film has reached four. Abroad we have. ‘Dhoom’ has reached three and so has ‘Housefull’. ‘Golmaal’ has the biggest director and cast so, obviously it’s like joining the big league and I’m very happy to be a part of this gang,” she said about the team, which also consists of actors Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Kunal Kemmu.

“I have a very important role in the film. I’m not just the heroine in the film. So, it was like the best of everything,” she added.
And now, she is happy to be a part of the family.

“First few days I was scared of Ajay and Rohit sir. They are like a family and have amazing tuning. It was like entering a new class and wondering ‘Will they like me or not?’ Ajay is like a kid, especially when he does songs. He doesn’t enjoy dancing so, he would complain. But he would work hard also.

“I call him (Ajay) my box office India. He gives me all the ‘gupshup’ (gossip) on the industry. I always message or call him to know about any new film. I can plan my life according to his information. It’s always correct. He is my trade guru,” she said.

Any ragging on the film’s set?

“I was told ‘You have to be prepared for pranks during ‘Golmaal’ shooting’. There is time, money spent on pranks. It’s a separate department. I have been at the receiving end,” she said.

Recalling one of those moments, she said: “One day, Rohit sir seriously came to me and told me to do some funny movement. I asked him ‘Really? But the character is not like that’. Nevertheless, I agreed and did it. The whole team laughed at me. I was so embarrassed.”
It’s not just her. Even Shreyas fell prey to pranks.

“The other day, we were doing a photoshoot. There were some crackers on set. Shreyas and I were talking. Ajay sir came from behind. He told me to shut up and sit. I was talking to Shreyas. The next thing you know, firecrackers bursting behind Shreyas’s back. Shreyas jumped out of his seat. It was crazy,” she said.

Would she still like to be a part of “Golmaal 5”?
“Of course, if Rohit sir is making ‘Golmaal’ or any other film. I think working with him has been the best experience of my life. Even if I am a tree, I will do that role in his film. I can never say no to him. He has become such an important part of my life,” she said.

Rohit-RanveerRohit Shetty, famous for his potboiler films in Bollywood has confirmed that he will be working on a film with Ranveer Singh.

In a report according to DNA he said, “Rohit Shetty confirms that he will be directing Ranveer Singh. “I am going to direct Ranveer very soon. The film will go on floors after he completes Padmavati and Zoya Akhtar’s film. It is going to be a raw, action film.”

Commenting on the current status of Bollywood films flopping he added, “There is a lot of talk of big-ticket films failing at the box office, but Rohit isn’t worried. He explains, “It’s a phase and it has happened in the past too. I remember when we were making Golmaal Returns, the film industry was going through a lull period. This is just a phase and will not last. There is no need to panic and worry about what kind of films to make. This keeps happening every five years and I know it will end soon.”
He is currently shooting for ‘Golmaal 4’ in Hyderabad.
