It’s Farah Khan’s husband, Shirish Kunder’s birthday, and the filmmaker has a beautiful wish for him

Ace choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan has an adorable birthday wish for ‘above average’ husband Shirish Kunder, who turned 45 on Thursday, May 24. Taking to social media, Farah wished her husband in the most adorable manner. “Happy birthday to an above average husband, but the Best Dad my kids could have!! @shirishkunder .. ur a rare one(sic)!”

Well, knowing 53-year-old’s wit, one doesn’t expect a normal birthday wish from her.

Shirish Kunder is a filmmaker and has also worked as an editor in over several films. He met Farah on the sets of her film Main Hoon Na. Kunder’s directorial debut was with Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta’s film Jaan-E-Mann (2006). Before stepping into the world of glitz and glamour, Shirish worked as an electronic engineer with a reputed phone company for four years.

Apart from this, he is also known for his humour; the art of punching it hard without getting hurt. Here are a few quotes from him that just prove the above-said statement.

“Idiots are always enthusiastic about everything because no matter what life experiences they’ve gone through, they’ve learnt nothing, and can still foresee nothing.”

“Lowering your standards won’t make your battles easier. You will only be fighting with dirtier people.”

“Forgive people. Or just move on to other people. There are enough people in this world.”

“Isn’t it logical that those who believe only in certain religions and castes should focus on running closed groups instead of an entire nation that will have people from all religions and castes?”

Farah Khan and Shirish have been married for 14 years now. They tied the knot in 2004 and have triplets Czar, Anya, and Diva Kunder.

With barely few days left for Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding, the preparations are in full swing for the D-day, May 08, 2018. Choreographer Farah Khan has been monitoring everyone’s dance performances for the sangeet ceremony.

However, what makes it even special is daddy Anil Kapoor‘s special act for daughter Sonam Kapoor’s sangeet ceremony. A Filmfare report states that he has put a special act of his iconic song, My Name Is Lakhan. Well, that’s not all, the ‘Jhakaas actor’ will also get his industry friends to join him along. He will be dancing with Satish Kaushik and Anupam Kher on songs such as Gallan Goodiyan and Dil Dhadakne Do.

“Anil is ecstatic about his performance on Sonam and Anand’s sangeet. He will perform on two of his favourite numbers – Gallan Goodiyan from Dil Dhadakne Do and My Name is Lakhan from Ram Lakhan. It will be more fun because Satish Kaushik and Anupam Kher will also be joining Anil,” told the source to the publication.

Sonam Kapoor‘s cousins – Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor will also be dancing at the sangeet function. While we hear Janhvi will be dancing on late mother Sridevi’s song, Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Chudiyaan Hai, Arjun will be accompanied by Ranveer Singh for the song, My Name Is Lakhan. The magic wand behind their dance performances is the ace choreographer and their friend, Farah Khan.

Farah Khan, who worked with Sridevi and has now choreographed for Janhvi in “Dhadak”, feels it would be unfair to compare the newcomer with her mother

Farah Khan, who worked with Sridevi and has now choreographed for Janhvi in “Dhadak”, feels it would be unfair to compare the newcomer with her mother. Farah believes every actor has a different approach towards the craft and their individuality should be respected. “Janhvi is absolutely lovely and she is a very good dancer. She picks up really fast and to compare her to her mother is the most unfair thing I think because Sri by her age was already a veteran and this is Janhvi’s first film. “I love Sri. When I started my career, she really pushed me and I used to do all her shows. But everybody is (a different) individual,” Farah told PTI.

Sridevi, who started film career at the age of four, died of accidental drowning in Dubai last month. She was 54. Farah has recreated the popular track “Zingat” from blockbuster Marathi film “Sairat” for the Hindi remake version of Karan Johar produced “Dhadak”, that marks the acting debut of Jahnvi and Shahid Kapoor’s half brother Ishaan Khatter.
“What happened was when they asked me to do it (recreate the song) for the Hindi version, I was given two briefs. The director (Shashank Khaitan) wanted it like it was done in the earlier movie, very casual, very organic and Karan wanted it to be a big song.”

Farah, who is known for her commercial sensibilities, believes a well-told story is more important than a boring “pseudo intellectual cinema”. “This year I have really enjoyed watching ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ which I thought was not only saying something but it was also very entertaining. Then, of course, you have Rajkummar’s ‘Newton’ and I think ‘Hindi medium’ was again saying a new story.”

Most of her directorial ventures have featured Shah Rukh Khan but the director said it took three years for the superstar to say yes “Main Hoo Naa”. “It was also a struggle because I was not making your typical so called women should direct only a certain type of movie. I wanted to make a big budget action movie which had drama in it. So I was not falling in that cliche of what people suppose women directors should be making. That itself was a struggle” she said.

The director-choreographer is one of the jury members for REEL movie awards honouring artistes who have entertained audiences with their creativity through excellent storytelling. Film critic-TV host Rajeev Masand will moderate the jury panel that also has names such as Sudhir Mishra, Sujoy Ghosh and Nikkhil Advani. The awards will be announced on March 20.

Choreographer-filmmaker, Farah Khan threw a lavish party at her duplex penthouse in the honour of international singer-composer Ed Sheeran, who was here in the city to woo the Mumbaikars with his magical voice. His concert was held on November 19, which was a star-studded affair, along with several fans gathered in the crowd cheering for him and sinking into his music.

At the party, Ed shook a leg to some of the Bhangra and Bollywood beats and humbly requested to not play his music. “He had specially requested that we play Bollywood and bhangra and NOT his music,” informed Khan. “Your music reminds us of the all-time great songwriters Carole King and James Taylor. Songs that will last over time and become anthems for their generation,” we said to him. “Thanks. That’s a big compliment,” he said with genuine delight at hearing such vintage names introduced in the assembled zeitgeist.

One of the songs he was seen dancing his heart out on was Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon’s song, ‘Sweety Tera Drama’ from ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’. The singer, comfortable in his crumpled shorts, shirt and sandals was grooving with Farah Khan, the hostess. He looked adorable in the dance video posted by the official Twitter handle of the film ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’.

I would love to do something in Bollywood… may be with Shah Rukh Khan. It will be something in their (Bollywood) style,” Sheeran told PTI.

The Shah Rukh Khan- Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Om Shanti Om’ is completing 10 years of release. The movie paid a homage to a lot of 70s era Bollywood, as the movie captured montages of the glorious era in cinema. Complete with the make-up, accessories, hairstyles, sets, dresses, filmmaker Farah Khan ensured that the 70s era in her film.

Deepika and Shah Rukh, made sure that they reminisce us of an era past by, especially the era where wearing blingy clothes, bell-bottom pants, hairbands, etc was a fashion norm. The movie also starred Shreyas Talpade who is shown as Shah Rukh Khan confidante and friend. The antagonist was played by Arjun Rampal, who reminded us of the larger-than-life onscreen villains from the 70s.

This was the second time that Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan came together on the big screen as an actor-director duo. Farah, has fondly posted an image of SRK from ‘Om Shanti Om’ on her Twitter account.
