Friday and 13th- a day and date which when combined can scare the hell out of anyone and everyone. And if you look at your calendar right now, you’d realize that today is unfortunately the unlucky day.  To make it worse (or better) 20th Century Fox is here with the long awaited trailer of the X-Men spinoff, ‘The New Mutants’.

First things first, it isn’t as vivid and flashy like a superhero movie. In fact, it’s creepy and horrifying and dark and all things one associates with a classic horror movie. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, it is intended to be the eleventh installment in the X-Men film series.

While the Marvel’s comics were about a younger generation of ‘gifted’ students coming together at a school for the first time, the film is set largely in an eerie asylum where young mutants are kept in cells and observed for study.

Bottom line being, it takes the X-Men universe within the four walls of a dark hollow hospital setting.

The cast of the film is nothing short of exciting as it stars some of the most talented young actors of Hollywood. The film follows five mutants – Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why), and Blu Hunt (The Originals) who are held in a secret facility against their will as they are considered “dangerous”, try to fight their way out.

The film is directed by the ‘The Fault in Our Stars ‘director, Josh Boone. In an interview, he said, “We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe. There are no costumes. There are no super villains. We’re trying to do something very, very different.”

He took to his Instagram to tease the audience about the arrival of the trailer today.

And it does look very, very different.

The trailer kind of gave away a ‘Stranger Things’ vibe, only scarier. It doesn’t provide with too many details but all that is shown is enough to leave you unsettled.

It opens with a voice over from Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga,) interviewing a new subject. Reyes asks the child if she has ever hurt someone and if she has ever experienced anything “abnormal”. The shot cuts to Reyes sitting in front of an array of monitors, calmly watching other children located throughout the facility.

The film is set to hit the theatres on April 13, 2018 which of course, is a Friday.

When it comes to B-town, our directors are obsessed with remakes. Maybe directors totally get moved by Tollywood and Hollywood scripts or maybe B-town directors are just short of ideas. Anyways, keeping these thoughts aside, we are yet again all set to make a remake of a popular Hollywood film.

Well, you obviously know which movie we are talking about. ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ has been in news for a very long time. Earlier it was reported that Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar and Jhanvi Kapoor will be making their Bollywood debut with this film, but soon the buzz about the same fizzled out.

However, now it looks like everything is back on track and Sushant Singh Rajput has been locked in for the project and will be seen stepping into Ansel Elgort’s role.

The film is set to go on floors next year and will be directed by popular casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

A source confirmed the speculations to a leading daily and said, “Mukesh was the one who introduced Sushant to Abhishek Kapoor for ‘Kai Po Che’! He had always wanted to work with him and felt he would be perfect for this film. He is currently on the lookout for his leading lady. Though inspired by the Hollywood film, the script will be adapted to Indian sensibilities.”

Well, it would be interesting to see how the famous novel is adapted as per Bollywood standards and if the narrative will be loved by the viewers or not. Now that Sushant will be seen playing Gus’s character, we are not sure about how much he fits the character. Maybe Ishaan was the right choice for the role. Or perhaps Sushant might surprise us with his acting in this one.

Confirming the same Chhabra said, “Yes, I am on board for The Fault in Our Stars remake. I’m working on the script at the moment. Sushant is the leading man and we are still in the process of casting the heroine.”

What’s left for us is to see who is signed in as the leading lady, maybe that would change our entire perspective. Till then, let us know if you think Sushant is the right pick. And who do you think should be locked in for the female lead?

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence may be receiving mixed reviews for her latest release ‘Mother!’ directed by Darren Aronofsky, but one can’t help praise Lawrence’s commendable performance as a woman whose tranquil life is turned upside down when a mysterious couple comes to stay at their house; in this psychological horror movie. Well, it seems that movie was just a glimpse of how versatile an actor Jennifer is and possibly a sneak peek into the various challenging roles she will be taking up in her upcoming movies. The trailer of Jennifer’s next movie ‘Red Sparrow’ was recently released by 20th Century Fox and our jaws actually dropped on the floor when we realized how twisted and intense the movie is going to be.

Fulfilling the fanciful wish (of playing James Bond’s counterpart) of every fan out there, Lawrence will be seen as a dangerously seductive Russian ballerina-turned-assassin, who uses her body and mind as weapons to kill the enemies. She looks striking as a cold-blooded killer who does not think twice before seducing and manipulating anyone, only to kill them eventually. In fact, her straight face and gawking eyes are reasons enough for anyone to fall for her charm. However, things turn wary when she falls for a CIA officer, played by Joel Edgerton. With ‘Red Sparrow’, Lawrence is reuniting with director Francis Lawrence, who has earlier worked with her in ‘The Hunger Games’ series. The movie is slated to release on March 2, 2018 and also stars Jeremy Irons, Mary-Louise Parker, Charlotte Rampling, and Matthias Schoenaerts.

‘The Hunger Games’ actress Jennifer Lawrence has been extremely busy and tied up with her work and we don’t need any proof of her busy schedule, because the release of her last film ‘Mother!’ and the trailer of the upcoming movie ‘Red Sparrow’, speak volumes of the hard work she has been doing throughout  the year. One might think that when does she take a break? Well, guess what she might be taking one now, of two years. Reportedly, the actress plans to take a long break from acting. According to a report in CBS News, when she was asked by Savannah Guthrie on the ‘Today’ show about whether she is taking any break, she said “I’m taking one. I don’t have anything set for two years.” The actor is currently busy with the promotions of Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Mother!’ and is gearing up for her upcoming releases – ‘Red Sparrow’, and ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’.

His magnetic appeal and physicality helped him slip into the skin of ‘Logan’ in the ‘X Men’ cinematic universe and Hugh Jackman absolutely owned the role. In fact, the foremost reason for the audience admitting that ‘X-Men’ film series is incomplete without ‘Wolverine’ is Hugh Jackman’s remarkable portrayal of the mutant who possesses superhuman healing abilities and metal claws that protrude from his knuckles.

Hugh Jackman has been a part of the ‘X-Men’ franchise since the first movie of the series came out in 2000. Hugh Jackman who always played ‘Logan’ as grumpy but hiding a deep ocean of pain within him has been successful in seizing ‘Wolverine’s’ essence as a haunted warrior. That is why, in-spite of being one of the finest stage actors and an Oscar nominee, he will probably be known as ‘Wolverine’, forever.

After the embodiment of the quintessential ‘Wolverine’, Hugh Jackman is to be seen as ‘The Greatest Showman’ in a movie of the same name. This movie is based on the 1952 drama film, ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’. The iconic movie celebrated the extravagant three-ring circus and depicted the passionate love and jealousy behind the greatest show on Earth.

This adaptation will be a biographical musical about the celebrated American showman, P.T. Barnum, who founded the traveling circuses and The Ringling Bros. While Hugh Jackman is set to play the protagonist Barnum, the film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and singer-dancer, Zendaya.

Jackman was also working on a musical comedy titled ‘Larrikins’ that was expected to release in early 2018. The film would surely have been a treat to his fans. Other Australian actors like Margot Robbie, Naomi Watts, and Rose Byrne were also to be a part of this film. Unfortunately, the movie was scrapped by DreamWorks Animation in early March 2017.

Hugh Jackman will also be seen with Mark O’Brien in an upcoming Hollywood political drama ‘The Frontrunner’ based on the book ‘All the Truth is Out: The Week Politics Went Tabloid’ by Matt Bai. The movie examines the journey of American Senator Gary Hart in the world of politics. Jackman will play Hart in ‘The Frontrunner’, while O’Brien, 33, will play his aide-de-camp, Billy Shore.

Jackman is pragmatically one of the best performers to have donned the spandex and played superheroes in ongoing franchises; so it’s no doubt that ‘Logan’ is the perfect and flawless adieu to ‘Wolverine’. He may have considered staying on for a few more films with the ‘X-Men’ franchise if there had been an edge with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nevertheless, fans who were left disappointed with his farewell in the last ‘Wolverine’ film couldn’t have asked for a better ending.

Superheroes have been ruling the box office, giving rise to franchises in this genre. ‘Wolverine’ or ‘Logan’ is synonymous with Hugh Jackman and that portrayal will be cherished forever. His departure is a swift turn, not just for the series but also for the genre. Such is the impact of Hugh’s unmatched performance.

Before you go, let’s relive that epic scene when Wolverine was on steroids in ‘Logan.’ It took 17 years, but we finally got to see the true and savage Wolverine on screen!!

The commencement of his career dates back to 1978, when interning at the Great Lakes Theatre Festival in Ohio prompted him to drop out of college and follow his passion instead. During the same time, he earned its reward when Time Magazine named Hanks one of the “Top 10 College Dropouts”.

He never disconnected himself with his work since then. In the following year, though, he worked for low budget projects but later landed one of the lead roles in a TV Series titled ‘Bosom Buddies’. Later, Hanks began to extend his comic roles to more dramatic ones. It was with ‘Nothing in Common’ and ‘Josh’, he dipped his toes in the dramatic waters for the first time. He was looked upon as a major Hollywood talent when he earned his first nominations for the Academy Awards for the Best Actor as the lead in fantasy comedy ‘Big’ (1988).

After a few box-office underperformers – ‘The Burbs’, ‘Joe Versus the Volcano’ and ‘The Bonfire of the Vanities’ he had a major comeback with ‘Turner & Hooch’ (1989). His roles in ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, ‘You’ve Got Mail’ and ‘A League of their Own’ ensured that Hanks was there to stay. In the 2000’s he proved that he could still keep the audience captivated by his characters in ‘Cast Away’ and ‘The Ladykillers’, which are known to be the two most outlandish roles he ever played. Critics have always applauded his portrayal of character as Jim Lovell in ‘Apollo 13′, his voice over as Woody in ‘Toy Story’ as well as his Oscar-nominated performance as Captain Miller in ‘Saving Private Ryan’.

While Bollywood has forever been known to make movies ‘inspired’ by Hollywood, we now hear that the makers of the Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Kaabil’ have been approached by 20th Century Fox for procuring the film’s remake rights. Sanjay Gupta confirmed the news in an interview as well. “It’s true that Fox, through Tomas Jegeus (President, Fox International Productions) has approached Hrithik. Even though the developments are too premature to talk about at this moment, it is an honour for the team. What is also exciting is that Kaabil has been declared the best film of 2017 via an online poll. So, it’s a double win for us.”

Remaking and being inspired from Hollywood is a common thing in the Hindi film industry but  ‘Kaabil’ would be the first Hindi film to be on the other side Rumour has it that the producers are thinking about casting Hrithik in the lead role and that is damn exciting.

Ironically, when ‘Kaabil’ was released, critics pointed out that Gupta had drawn inspiration from Hollywood’s ‘Blind Fury’ (1989) and even borrowed inspiration from  the Korean super hit film, ‘Broken’ (2014).
