Barring Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan who wore a Rohit Bal floor-length jacket, the designer duo’s friends, old and new, wore ensembles from Abu-Sandeep’s roster. How’s that for brand loyalty?

For once, nepotism proved good for business. Over the weekend, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla hosted a reception gala for the latter’s niece and the CEO of their brand, Saudamini Mattu, at a Juhu club. And it was a gathering of friends and family of the influential kind, dressed in the designated dress code – Indian festive. She was the style victor of the night. Her deep-tinted locks went well with the ivory bindi prodding same pinch with her saree tone, offset by a jade-hued neckpiece. The blouse had the daintiest of tassel details noticeable only when she swayed to Pallo Latke in comfy Kolhapuri flats.

Whoever thought Mrs Dubash was all-work-and-no-play, think again. The executive director and chief brand officer of Godrej group stepped up to the glamour of the red carpet in a nude mesh and sequinned custom-made saree.

The unmistakable pre-wedding glow was in place as India’s darling fashionista made an appearance in a Phulwari black and white gharara. The mogra cha phirki gajra and maang tikka was a nice touch that the pretty-close-to-perfect to-be bride added.

The two gentlemen who mattered had something in common: moccasins in midnight blue. While Bachchan’s pair had tassels synonymous of the 1920s, KJo’s had spikes – both in gold.

The hosts who claim, “Chikan is our Birkin”, were dressed in white – their favourite shade. Jani wore a Mughal-inspired, full-pleated angrakha in luxurious buttery muslin, accessorised by a gigantic ruby ring. Khosla stuck to the trademark white tee worn under a floral gold cutwork kurta.

The debutant chose a custom-made couture saree draped ever so slightly to highlight her curves. The reticent old-world allure was evident, but the disco-ball cross body sling bag said, hello, dance floor!

The fresh-faced writer is often photographed (we hear it’s her go-to label) in Asal, Abu-Sandeep’s diffusion line. And for the occasion, she picked a breezy white kurti and ghagra sprinkled with just-right gold threadwork. She teamed it with a BVLGARI serpentine wristwatch.

The 102 Not Out team gathered here to promote its song Badumbaaa, which is composed and sung by Amitabh Bachchan

Veteran actors Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan will reunite on the big screen after 27 years, but the former doesn’t “feel the gap”. Talking about his experience of working with Amitabh in the forthcoming film “102 Not Out”, Rishi told the media here on Thursday: “We worked in this film after 27 years but from the time we went on the set, we started rehearsing. We did not feel the gap between these years.”

“I feel proud to say that I have been working with him for the last 44 years. Our first film was ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ (1976) and the last time we worked together was in Ajooba (1991).” Together, they have delivered celebrated films like Naseeb”, Kabhi Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony and Coolie. Amitabh appreciates all his 102 Not Out co-stars, including Jimit Trivedi.

“I believe if you are appreciating my performance, it is due to my co-artistes. If they don’t perform well enough for your reaction, then your reaction would go wrong,” said the megastar. “So I would like to compliment Rishiji and Jimit for this film. Whenever you see (a movie), if you like it or don’t like it, it depends on their performance too. Our performances are the reflection of their performances,” he added.

The film’s team gathered here to promote its song Badumbaaa, which is composed and sung by Amitabh. Not many films are made on senior citizens. Asked why there isn’t much representation of senior citizens in films, Amitabh, 75, said: “Senior citizens are very respectable people of our society. If they are not there, we are not there. Whenever we try to make a film on them, we treat them with dignity. I hope that through this film, we will be able to convey the message to our audience.”

Adding to that, Rishi said: “He (Amitabh) did films like ‘Piku’ and ‘Pink’. Yes, there are not many films made on senior citizens but there are not many Bachchans around, right?” 102 Not Out, directed by Umesh Shukla, will release on May 4.

The untimely demise of Sridevi has left her countless fans as well as Bollywood in a state of shock

The untimely demise of Sridevi has left her countless fans as well as Bollywood in a state of shock. While a steady stream of B-Town stars visited Anil Kapoor’s Juhu residence yesterday to condole the death of the superstar, several others cancelled events that were scheduled for the week. Shabana Azmi took to Twitter to announce that she and husband Javed Akhtar would not be hosting the annual Holi party this year. “Our Holi party at Janki Kutir stands cancelled on 2nd March in the wake of Sridevi’s passing away (sic),” she wrote.

Rani Mukerji, who was slated to release a new song of Hichki yesterday, called off the launch. Another ardent fan of the superstar, Kangana Ranaut was stationed in Bikaner for the shoot of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi when she heard about Sridevi’s death on Sunday morning. So distraught was the actor that she cancelled her shoot for the day. The unit of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor-starrer 102 Not Out too decided to defer the filming of their song on Sunday, as a mark of respect to India’s first female superstar.

Ram Gopal Varma, who had directed Sridevi in Kshana Kshanam (1991) and had often described her as his muse, was grief-stricken by the unfortunate turn of events. He postponed the announcement of the title and poster of his new film with Nagarjuna, to a later date. The music launch of Maniesh Paul-starrer Baa Baaa Black Sheep, scheduled to take place today was also called off.

Though the number of followers of SRK remained the same (32,941,262), Big B lost a chunk of his followers, bringing him second on the list with 32,902,902 followers. What happens when the iconic Amitabh Bachchan meets Sanjay Dutt? It was undoubtedly a fan-boy moment for the latter. The two met at one of the awards shows held recently and the meeting was magical. The love that the duo shares have simply transformed in this picture and we can say nothing more but ‘adorable’! In the picture, Sanjay and Bachchan are about to hug each other and their smiles says it all. Thrilled by it, Sanju baba took to his Instagram account to post the picture and said how the ‘Paa’ actor has always inspired him. He wrote heartfelt words like, “Your modesty and love inspire me. Always a fan-boy moment meeting you sir @amitabhbachchan (sic).”

Sanjay Dutt’s wife commented on the picture saying, “Amazing and outstanding men in one frame (sic).”

Well, this is one relationship that we don’t often hear about, the special bond between ‘Munnabhai’ and Amitabh Bachchan. The duo is a die-hard lover of watches and has awesome international collections of it. Whenever one of the people travels abroad, without fail they have to get a watch for the other person. Dutt’s respect for the megastar is such that once he was smoking a cigarette and watched him come towards him, the former immediately crushed the already lit cigarette in his hand.

They have worked in films like ‘Kaante’, ‘Viruddh’, ‘Department’ and ‘Hum Kisise Kum Nahin’.

How about seeing the stalwarts in the same frame again!?

Thanking his ‘extended family’ — his fans and social media followers — for the concern and wishes for his recovery, Big B wrote on his blog early on Sunday: “It goes well. Yes, the sling is and shall be there for sometime. The rotor cup on my left shoulder has a tear due to an earlier injury.

“This has got aggravated during recent action sequences… Medication and ice fermentations and rest is prescribed and being diligently followed. So, do not despair. Yes, the day before the condition worsened due to the drugs being taken for the pain.

“They were too strong and had affected my stomach which gave me a lot of discomfort. So, was bed ridden. But now a huge improvement now and soon to be on feet again.”
