Ranveer Singh’s fans were elated to see their favourite star perform an electrifying performance at the opening ceremony of Indian Premier League (IPL). Unfortunately, the Padmaavat star won’t be performing at the IPL anymore, courtesy – his shoulder injury. Ranveer took to his social media account to inform his fans about it and wrote, “Thank you for the good wishes everyone. I’m good. It’s just a labral tear in my left shoulder. I intend to come back stronger. Love you all (sic).”

Many of the stars and his fans wished him a speedy recovery. However, what caught our attention was Alia Bhatt‘s ‘get well soon’ tweet. She addressed Ranveer as ‘Tutu’, which indicates that is his nickname. Isn’t it as funky as Ranveer Singh himself!?

The Bajirao Mastani star had injured his shoulder during a football match. He has been strictly advised by doctors to avoid performing at the opening ceremony of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season on April 7. Ranveer Singh was spotted with his arm in a sling over the weekend and even on Monday at Shankar Ehsaan and Loy’s recording studio in Bandra with Zoya Akhtar. He sustained injuries during a football match recently.

“After multiple medical checkups, the doctors have strongly advised Ranveer Singh not to perform at this year’s IPL opening ceremony in which he was doing the grand finale act. They feel his high-energy performance would only overstrain his shoulder and aggravate the injury,” the actor’s spokesperson said in a statement.

However, Ranveer’s film shoot has not been disrupted. “Ranveer will continue to shoot for Gully Boy as per its shooting schedule which is not physically strenuous since only performance-based talkie scenes are left to be shot,” the spokesperson added.

But the organisers have paid Varun much more and he’s the highest paid of the lot this year. His fee is somewhere close to Rs 6 crore, although the exact figure isn’t known.”

The source gave justification for this pay structure and termed Varun’s popularity and he connects with the masses and audience of every generation. “Varun has a great connect with the masses and among all the actors from the younger generation, he has the maximum number of chartbusters in his kitty. He will be dancing to his recent hits from Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2, as well as other films. Jacqueline and he might also perform a few songs together.”

Ranveer is totally in demand right now and the talented actor is getting paid approximately Rs 33 lakh per minute to rock the stage. Believe it or not, this amount is more than the auction package of most cricketers in the team.

Ranveer Singh says he took many risks and went through a “routine drill” to get a massive launch by a banner as big as Yash Raj Films

He still cannot believe he is one of the most successful young stars of Bollywood, but one thing which Ranveer Singh is sure about is that his success in the film industry is courtesy his hard work and determination.

The 32-year-old actor, who made his debut in Hindi cinema with 2010 film Band Baaja Baarat, said he took many risks and went through a “routine drill” to get a massive launch by a banner as big as Yash Raj Films.

“I ought to be pinching myself sitting in front of people. I wake up everyday thinking that I am living a dream. I was this young kid obsessed with Hindi movies. I struggled for three years in Mumbai, with my portfolio in my hand. I went through the routine drill. I made my own luck. I put my self in that position that where that good wave comes and you can flow with it.

“Ranbir Kapoor said no to ‘Band Baaja Baraat’. YRF was looking for a new face I got a call and I knew this was the opportunity I was waiting for. I kept my face safe and didn’t do modelling or music videos. And then I got a massive launch, essentially for an ‘outsider’, opposite a reasonably recognisable star Anushka Sharma,” Ranveer said.

The actor was in conversation with Rajeev Masand at News18 Rising India Summit.

Ranveer said his mentor and producer Aditya Chopra had made him aware that he is “not a conventionally good looking boy. He said ‘my son you have to act really well if you want people to like you’ , which is a polite way to say you are ugly.”

The actor, however, said the gossips that his father had put in money to launch his Bollywood career were heartbreaking and took away the thrill of his maiden success.

Ranveer said by putting faith in him, Chopra set a great example of promoting actors on the basis of talent and not “legacy”.

“Aditya Chopra realised star system was killing the industry at that time. He realised the need of the hour was to give actors break on the basis of talent and not legacy. He started with Anushka followed by me. And mine was a great example. A leading man suddenly born out of sheer auditioning process,” he said.

Ranveer is known for his energetic persona and flamboyance, but the actor said this was not the case when he started out in the industry as he thought as an actor he was suppose to please everyone.

“When I first came to into the limelight I was very nervous. I was famous three days after my first film released. I didn’t grew up around anybody famous so I was confused how to deal with this beast. This fame or stardom hit me like a truck. I was struggling with that hit for three years till the time I got critical acclaim for ‘Lootera’ and critical/commercial success of Ram-Leela.

“I didn’t know who to be? how to be? what to say or do? Every decision was affected by this notion that I want people to like me as we are in the business of making people like us. I was making affected decisions in my dressing or domineer thinking that this is how a young upcoming actor is suppose to be,” he said.

The Padmaavat star said he has now realised it is better to be himself as success and fame are momentary possessions.

The actor, who is also a fan favourite when it comes to clicking pictures or interacting with them, said he takes it as his responsibility to be good to his audience and make them smile.

“You are not allowed to have a bad mood day. There is a certain responsibility. You are an entertainer. I take it upon myself to entertain and please people to spread smile and joy. I believe that’s my calling. I love the crowd and interacting with people. I get very excited when somebody gets excited seeing me. Till now, I haven’t realised or believed that I have become a star. Priyanka Chopra, my very dear friend says, ‘you are that boy who will always be telling his mother… Mom I have become a star’.”

salman_ranveerDecember 2018 already seems to be jam-packed with many big ticket films vying for a release. Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Zero’ is already slated for a Christmas release and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’ is also not far behind. Now, it looks like another big film has joined the list which might lead to a major box office clash.

According to reports, Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg 3’ might clash with Ranveer’s cop film ‘Simmba’. Salman has reportedly said that he would not like his film to be released on Christmas as he would not like to clash with SRK’s film. So if his film is pushed back by a week, then it will clash head-on with ‘Simmba’. Meanwhile, there are apprehensions that since both ‘Dabangg 3’ and ‘Simmba’ are cop films, it might become an overdose for the audience.

However, filmmaker Rohit Shetty who is helming the Ranveer Singh starrer is confident that such confusion would take place as both films are quite different. Meanwhile, Arbaaz Khan who is bankrolling ‘Dabangg 3’ is mum about its release date and has said that it would be revealed by April.
