Dangal, Thugs fame Prakash Bharadwaj: Can't wait for Aamir to watch my film

Prakash Bharadwaj says that his film, featuring Rituparna Sengupta and Priyanshu Chatterjee in lead roles, is a result of his learnings from Aamir Khan over the years

His box-office record is proof that Aamir Khan is a whiz when it comes to films. So, it’s not surprising that Khan’s speech and acting coach Prakash Bharadwaj is keen that the superstar be the first one to watch his directorial debut, Colours Of Life. Bharadwaj, who trained the cast of Thugs Of Hindostan — including Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh — has organised a special screening of his English film for the team.

Confirming the same, he told mid-day, “We have booked the preview theatre in Yash Raj Films for the screening of my film, on May 14. So far, the entire cast and crew have promised their presence. Since Aamir sir has been on choc-a-block schedule he hasn’t had the time to watch the film yet. I can’t wait for Aamir to see it.”

Prakash adds that the drama, featuring Rituparna Sengupta and Priyanshu Chatterjee in lead roles, is a result of his learnings from Khan over the years. “He is a masterclass by himself. I have made this movie from everything that I have learnt from him on the job.”

Slated to release on July 6, the film explores two themes — the impact of technology in our personal lives, and women empowerment.

Satish Kaushik's mobile theatre to have tickets priced between Rs 35 to Rs 75

Set to launch his mobile theatre today, Satish Kaushik says he’s making cinema available for as little as Rs 35

To make cinema accessible for people in smaller towns and rural parts of the country, filmmaker Satish Kaushik has launched a make-shift theatre that will travel to villages on a truck. The Mobile Digital Movie Theatre (MDMT) will be launched in Delhi today by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The trucks that will tour 10 cities

Ten theatre units will hit the roads in a couple of months, each of which is named after a famous Bollywood movie, or character. Select names allotted to the trucks include Mr India, Baahubali, Shehanshah and Don. Kaushik tells mid-day that he intends to price the tickets between Rs 35 to Rs 75, based on how recent the film that is being screened is. While tickets will be available for purchase on the MDMT mobile application and the counter, on the spot, the unit is “also planning to collaborate with ticketing websites like Bookmyshow,” says Kaushik.

The central government is enabling the actor to take his portable theatre to different villages across India. They have yet to decide the places that the screenings will be held at. “Though the government is not funding the initiative, it is supporting us by ensuring that we can seamlessly procure permissions, including for the use of land and deployment of fire and police officials. In fact, we are giving preferred ad space to them so that they can connect with the citizens,” says Kaushik.

A theatre of this nature, Kaushik feels, is an easy way to provide entertainment in a country where real-estate prices are always soaring high. “Having a portable theatre that’s real-estate independent and low on regulatory compliances [would be] apt,” says Kaushik, who has also got private funding partners on board the initiative. Talking about the features of the mini cinema hall, he says, “Each MDMT will have a 22-foot screen with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. It will be air-conditioned and will seat around 200 people. The hall will only have one category of tickets as we want to offer affordable cinema.”

Makeup guru Namrata Soni, who styled Bollywood’s resident fashionista on her big day, decodes her cracker look

Given the fashionista tag that has been attached to Sonam Kapoor, all eyes were on what the bride would wear on her big day. The actor looked resplendent in a red Anuradha Vakil creation as she married beau Anand Ahuja yesterday.

Speaking to mid-day after the Anand Karaj ceremony last morning, makeup artist Namrata Soni gushed, “Isn’t she the most beautiful bride ever? We went with little eyeliner, keeping the focus on eyes and soft red-tinted lips. The antique headpiece was her idea. We combined it with a basic bun, decorated with mogras.”

Sonam Kapoor was certain she would wear red on her wedding day. A source from Vakil’s team revealed, “Sonam was in discussion with Anuradha for many months. The golden lotus motifs were also a collaborative decision. We ran a few designs by her and she picked this one.”

Guests — including Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan with husband Saif Ali Khan and son Taimur, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez — started thronging the Bandra venue by 11.30 am as the couple proceeded with the nuptials.

A guest at the ceremony said, “The traditional Sikh wedding comprised four laava pheras around the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs. The wedding vows were followed by lunch. The highlight of the lunch was when Ranveer and Arjun sang Masakalli [Delhi 6] on stage. Anand and Sonam couldn’t stop laughing at their antics.” Within minutes of her wedding, she changed her user name on social media accounts to Sonam Kapoor-Ahuja.

A few hours later, it was time for the grand reception. The bride dazzled in a grey Anamika Khanna lehenga while Anand Ahuja, unsurprisingly, teamed his sherwani with a pair of sneakers. Karan Johar, who had an act lined up, came with mother Hiroo Johar. Kangana Ranaut, Rani Mukerji, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff were present as well.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s post-wedding celebrations at The Leela Mumbai were just as grand as their wedding festivities

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception saw the who’s who of Bollywood and other eminent members of Mumbai’s elite in attendance. Bride Sonam looked gorgeous in a olive and white coloured lehenga, while the groom Anand was dressed in a black bandhgala. The Veere Di Wedding actress’ father, actor Anil Kapoor looked dapper in a black suit as he greeted the media. The dress code was ethnic and western attire.

Sonam and her Delhi-based businessman beau Anand tied the knot on Tuesday morning at the Bandra residence of the Veere Di Wedding actress’ aunt, which was graced by family and friends. The wedding reception was held at The Leela Mumbai in Andheri East, which is owned by the family of Sonam’s close friend Samyukta Nair.

Sonam’s brother Harshvardhan Kapoor, uncle Sanjay Kapoor with wife Maheep and daughter Shanaya, son Jahaan, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jackie Shroff, wife Ayesha Shroff, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray with wife Rashmi, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanju director Rajkumar Hirani and many others were on the guest list.

Pre-wedding celebrations had begun from Sunday, May 6, with a mehendi, which was followed by a sangeet ceremony the next day. Sonam, after debuting in Bollywood with Saawariya in 2007, has featured in movies like Delhi-6, Aisha, Raanjhanaa, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Khoobsurat, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Neerja and Pad Man. Her performance in Neerja won her a Special Mention at the National Film Awards. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja have been dating since the last two years. She was introduced to Anand by friend, fashion designer, dancer and actress Pernia Qureshi.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja wedding: Harshvardhan's warning for brother-in-law

Like any other brother, Harshvardhan Kapoor too is possessive of his sister Sonam Kapoor. He gives a piece of advice to brother-in-law Anand Ahuja

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja have taken their marriage vows, and social media is over-flooded with their wedding photos and videos. While everyone from the film industry and Sonam’s close friends are elated with joy as she enters a new phase in her life, there is one piece of advice brother Harshvardhan Kapoor has for his brother-in-law, Anand Ahuja.

Harshvardhan Kapoor took to his Instagram account to share a photo of his ‘senior’ sister Sonam Kapoor with Anand Ahuja along with himself. He wrote, “Mush alert – Senior @sonamkapoor… there is no one quite like you and no one with a bigger heart. You’re a lucky man @anandahuja but remember I was here first! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and love #EverydayPhenomenal #SonamKiShaadi (sic).”

Isn’t Harshvardhan like any other brother, cute and possessive!?

Talking of bride, Sonam Kapoor, she was elegance personified as she chose to go the traditional way with heavily embroidered traditional red lehenga, chokers, and traditional jewellery. She looked stunning, whileAnand Ahuja looked majestic in a muted gold sherwani and a pagadi with ruby beads around his neck.

The reception and wedding party will take place at The Leela hotel in the evening on May 8, starting from 8 pm onwards.
