Rishi-KapoorRishi Kapoor is not new to the world of controversies. His outright and frank nature on Twitter has gotten him into serious trouble on more than a few occasions.

The recent one being Rishi Kapoor’s statement on directors Anurag Kashyap and Anurag Basu for ‘Bombay Velvet’ and ‘Jagga Jasoos’ respectively made at Neha Dhupia’s audio-chat show ‘No Filter With Neha’. Both these ‘big-budgeted’ films featured Rishi’s son and nation’s heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor. Alas, both left audiences dejected and were a major let-down at the box-office.

On the show, the senior Kapoor was asked to speak about a topic for a minute, and it was any Anurag in his life!

Rishi Kapoor answered with spontaneity, “There is Anurag Kashyap, who made ‘Bombay Velvet’, but he made a better film in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. I couldn’t understand head or tale about ‘Bombay Velvet’.”

Talking about director Anurag Basu, who directed ‘Jagga Jasoos,’ his son Ranbir’s maiden production venture; Rishi Kapoor lashed out at him when the film tanked.

On Neha Dhupia’s show, he continued his ‘Anurag’ topic and said, “And then there was Basu (Anurag Basu), who made ‘Barfi’ an outstanding film. I am so happy he took my son for it. My son got great recognition for it, and then he made this ‘Gajja’ Jasoos… what ‘Jagga Jasoos’ whatever… which he made a total mess of. It was as messy as my pronunciation.”

“He probably got indulged too much. I guess both the ‘Anurags’ got indulged in their films. You know when they are good enough to work on a certain budget and suddenly they are given huge budgets in hand so ‘bandar ke haath mein khilona nahin aa jaata hai,’ he goes absolutely berserk. So I think that’s what actually happened with both these guys. They were given budgets they could not handle and I guess it happens. It happens with every director, every actor you can’t have a hundred percent record anyway…So it happens,” concluded the unfiltered audio by Rishi Kapoor.

Wonder what the Anurags have to say about it?

She is one of those few actresses who have survived in the industry for a very long time. Tons of new actors have come and gone, but Kareena Kapoor Khan’s presence still remains strong like no other. She doesn’t need any introduction, because that’s how huge her stardom is. Coming from one of the royal families of Bollywood, she ventured into the film industry and totally proved that she was a true Kapoor product taking the industry by a storm. Begum Kareena is a true “heroine” in every sense, ruling the industry for almost 17 years now. That’s something!

The gorgeous diva has stunned us with her moving performances, because she is a born entertainer. From doing some extraordinary characters to giving box-office blockbusters, she has a lot in her kitty. As the actress turns 37 today, we take a look at 5 of her best films that made her the heartthrob of B-town.

Refugee

She picked JP Dutta’s ‘Refugee’ as her debut film opposite Abhishek Bachchan in 2000. While many would have considered twice before picking such a topic, Bebo took up the challenge and shone bright. The character wasn’t an easy one for a debutant, but she totally nailed it with her raw beauty and innocence. It was difficult to believe that this was her first film, that’s how good she was. This film opened further avenues for her.

Chameli

This film was the turning point for Kareena as an actress. Playing a sex worker in 2004 opposite Rahul Bose brought out a side of her as an actress that none of us was aware of. Her character spoke a lot about her talent and her performance was the talk of the tinsel town among the critics. This was the movie that changed her glam diva image of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’s Poo to an actress who could effortlessly step into real characters. While many criticised her for taking a role of a prostitute at the start of her career, she decided to go against the odds. The film bagged her several awards. Thirteen years later, still when we talk about her best films, the list cannot be complete without ‘Chameli’ in it.

Omkara

This Vishal Bhardwaj film was based on William Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, where we got to see Kareena in a refreshing avatar. She played desi Desdemona (Dolly Mishra), making all literature fans fall head over heels in love with her effortless acting. Ajay Devgn and Kareena literally had put our screens on fire with their outgoing camaraderie. Though most actresses that time were picking commercial films, Kareena, on the other hand, was seen experimenting with her roles, giving us back to back powerful performances.

Heroine

Though this Madhur Bhandarkar film didn’t do well at the box office, there is not a single soul who didn’t love Kareena donning the role of a heroine on screen too. This film might have disappointed many for its screenplay but it did add to her list of best performances. From showing the high to the low of an actress’ life, Kareena brilliantly owned this role and we can’t think of anyone else, who would have done justice to this character.

Imtiaz Ali’s Geet was so relatable that she totally won our hearts. Kareena wore her character just like second skin, delivering a mind-blowing performance. Every girl in town wanted to own that vibe and say the dialogue, ‘Mein meri favourite hoon’ like it was the just best thing to say. Her character inspired many and made people fall in love with themselves. Critics couldn’t stop praising her, as her acting was so brilliant that she literally won most of the awards that year.

Well, we totally got to say, ‘Kareena humari favourite hai’.

The trailer of the much-awaited film ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ is finally here and by the looks of it, the movie is all set to revive our fading love for retro video games (mind you we are not talking about the Playstation or Xbox). The 1995 ‘Jumanji’ was all about board games and their characters coming out in real life, while this movie stresses on video games and how the players end up going into the game, in the body of the characters they chose to play. As kids we often imagined how the world inside video games like ‘Mario’, ‘Tekken 3′, or ‘Street Fighter’ looked like. This trailer lets us experience exactly that, but only in an exaggerated form.

Check Out The Latest Trailer Of ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle'© Columbia Pictures

The first trailer came out in June and hinted at the kinds of dangerous adventures these folks will experience and the second trailer, introducing the likes of Nick Jonas, Morgan Turner and a deadly cake; is fiercer and funnier than ever. The trailer begins with four friends, who stumble on an old video game console and suddenly get transported into the world of Jumanji, only to find themselves inside the bodies of Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan. With their own strengths and bizarre weaknesses, the four set out on a journey to protect themselves from the unseen danger that awaits them. In this trailer, the characters will also learn about their strengths and weaknesses and how it can literally blow you away. After all, it’s not every day you see people getting blown up after eating a cake.

The film has its own cool antics – each character having three lives to win the game, a phone-obsessed girl ends up in a middle-aged guy’s body and Kevin Hart being blown up by a cake. The film is directed by Jake Kasdan while the screenplay was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. The film will hit the theatres on December 20.

Whenever we hear of a reboot or sequel being made of our favourite film, we inadvertently end up comparing the two and also take some bias towards the original one. But, this one is definitely worth the watch, at least the trailer is hilarious and funny.

Arguably one of the most popular and consistent batsmen in modern-day cricket, Virat Kohli has won accolades and continues to grow his fanbase in every corner of the globe. The Indian captain has undeniably been the driving force behind India’s meteoric rise in cricket over the past few years.

Whether it’s limited-overs or Test cricket, the Indian batting sensation has developed a knack of decimating the opposition bowlers with his majestic batting display. Currently ranked No. 1 in both ODIs and T20Is, only a handful of batsmen can match the influence Kohli tends to have on the opposition in international cricket.

Owing to his exploits, it’s only fair that the 28-year-old is probably the most sought-after cricketer in the country. From politicians to celebrities, Kohli’s aggressive batting has clearly floored us all. And, we bet, that’s probably one of the things that helped Kohli to woo Bollywood hottie Anushka Sharma.

While Kohli and Anushka continue to set new relationship goals for modern-day couple, another Bollywood actress has become the latest addition to the Indian batsman’s fan club.

Kareena, who is celebrating her 37th birthday today, confessed her love for the swashbuckling right-handed batsman. During a recent interview, she showered a lot of praise on Kohli and claimed that he is her favourite batsman.

“I love the way Virat plays. He is my favourite.” When asked if Virat Kohli is soon to become the next Sachin Tendulkar, she stated, “Isn’t he already the next Sachin Tendulkar? After all, he’s the reason why we are winning so many matches in succession,” she said.

Kareena is married to Saif Ali Khan – son of the legendary Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Known as the ‘Tiger’, Pataudi will always be remembered for his contribution to Indian cricket.

At a time when the caste-system had over-ridden the field, the Nawab of Pataudi – despite coming from a family of royals – took it upon himself to unite people to play together as Indians rather than playing in accordance to their respective castes.

Taking over the reins of the Indian team at the age of 21, barely months after being involved in a car accident that would impair the sight in his right eye forever, he led India in 40 of 46 Tests he played in, and won 9 of them.

But more than anything else, he led Indian cricket out of its morass of defeatism and instilled in his fellow cricketers a belief that winning was possible. Under him, India achieved their first overseas Test victory against New Zealand in 1967.

The Blue Whale challenge has left us all a bit frazzled, wondering how the world really functions. The tasks that were put forward, questioned the very morality of human existence. The game was an assertive transformation of actions, leading to one’s death and the designers made sure the young participants followed each task to the T, eventually leading to the participant’s death. From carving a whale on the player’s arm with a razor to watching gory, scary videos and clips at ungodly hours, the participants did everything to psyche themselves out, before agreeing to the last task- which was to jump off a ledge to their death, from a high-rise building.

Although the perpetrators have been caught and imprisoned, the game still remains a gruesome memory and the darkness of it is still a bit malleable. To counter the negative effects of the Blue Whale game, a young boy by the name of Waseem Gul from Pakistan has developed a positive rendition of the game through an app to wipe away any association and the memory of the original Blue Whale game.

This app also includes 50 tasks, like the original Blue Whale game but Waseem’s game is focused more on making people’s lives better and get this, he is just an 18-year-old kid! The game captioned the anti-Blue Whale game’ has already hit app stores and is surely giving away a positive message to all impressionable young kids, all over the world.

The tasks are rather simple and focus more on the smaller, more positive things in life, which give us instant happiness. We’re going to list some of the tasks we found, here, see if you want to start doing them already!

· Do 10 push-ups

· Wake at 6:00 am

· When you wake up, don’t move from your bed for 10 minutes

· Touch your nose using your right thumb

· Slice a fresh onion and try not to cry while doing it

· Eat a donut but don’t lick your fingers/lips afterwards

· Eat 1 big tablespoon of pure ketchup

· Help your parents with household work

· Remember- helping others without interest is cool

· Do something special today

When the player reaches the 50th task, a message pops up saying “Congratulations you have become a Smart BlueWhale. Remember your life is a precious gift, don’t waste it on strange challenges you find on the internet. The world is full of strange people, some of them will try to scare you in order to make you do odd things, if something like this happens to you, inform your parents or adults that you trust. Stay healthy and happy blue whale grand master”.

Waseem has probably cracked life’s success mantra and has put it on an app for young people to follow. We think more youngsters around us should start doing things that make them happy and pull the plug on the negativities around them!

Netflix has been working on ‘The Punisher’ solo series for quite some time now. Owing to the great response that the character’s appearance in the second season of ‘Daredevil’ received, the streaming giant decided to make this Marvel hero’s (or should we say anti-hero) fans happier, but details about the same were unexpectedly kept under wraps.

Except for some cryptic hints and messages in the form of short video snippets, Netflix didn’t reveal much, not even the expected release date.

But now, Netflix suddenly dropped the series’ first full trailer and gave us an idea as to what to expect from the series- blood, violence, explosions, a ton of guns.

We see the character of Frank Castle, played by Jon Bernthal, who was recently seen in Daredevil’s second season as a heartbroken man, with a brutal mission. The trailer shows everything that he’s been through which releases the beast inside, hinting at the comic-book character’s origin story.

Full trailer of ‘The Punisher' and it is pretty violent© Netflix

“They killed my family to get to me,” he says. “I was a part of a covert CIA operation. The man in charge wants me dead. Homeland, the FBI, everybody’s a part of this.”

Metallica’s ‘One’ plays in the background as Castle prepares to avenge his family’s murder.

From what we can see, the series might be more dark and brutal than Netflix has teased it as being.

Even Bernthal confirmed this in an interview when he said that the show will see Frank go to an even darker place, and will take the story to somewhere it hasn’t been before:

“The show takes you on this journey of Frank becoming more and more human again and then shutting off and shutting off and going back to what works for him, and the place where he kind of belongs and I think that’s a place of solitude and of darkness and destruction. It’s going to get into as dark and as brutal places as you’ve ever seen in the Marvel world, I can promise you that.”

To get into the shoes of the character, Bernthal said he stayed fairly isolated during filming, and wanted to be authentic to the gravity of the character.

But alas, the exact release date still hasn’t been released; however the show does appear to be coming soon, sometime in 2017 only.

ShakilaShakila

Yesteryear actress, Shakila, who featured in cult movies like Wadia Movietone’s ‘Hatim Tai’ (1956), legendary Guru Dutt’s ‘Aar Paar’ (1954), ‘CID’ (1956), ‘Shriman Satyawadi’ (1960) with Raj Kapoor and  ‘China Town’ (1962) with Shammi Kapoor breathed her last on Wednesday afternoon. She was 82.

Shakila died after suffering a heart attack.

A Mumbai Mirror report states that she was seeking to be rushed to a nearby renowned hospital.

Her fellow actors from the 50s said that it was unfortunate that she couldn’t get immediate admission in the hospital and therefore had to be taken to Juhu’s Arogya Nidhi Hospital, said the same report.

The news of her death was confirmed by her nephew Nasirr Khan, son of veteran comedian Johnny Walker.

Taking to social media, he wrote, “With a heavy heart, i have 2 inform u all dat my maternal aunt (my moms older sister) Shakila Aunty has passed away. She was a star in her own right in the 50’s n 60’s. Babuji dheere chalna, pyaar mein zara sambhalna…Please keep her in ur prayers. May Allah grant her Jannat (sic).”

Often described as the ‘queen of Indian movies,’ she quit the film industry, married an NRI industrialist, and settles in the UK. She later returned to Mumbai’s Marine Drive for a few years.

However, after her daughter Meenaz committed suicide, she shifted to her Bandra residence, where she was currently residing.

She was best friends with Saira Banu, Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, Nanda and Jabeen Jalili.
