After superstar Salman Khan decided to compensate the distributors over Tubelight’s debacle, looks like Ranbir Kapoor is following in his footsteps. The actor said that if he makes money out of a film which hasn’t fared well at the box-office, he will definitely pay back the distributors.

At a promotional event of his upcoming film, Jagga Jasoos, Kapoor said, “The trend has been going on since my grandfather’s (Raj Kapoor) time in the 1950s… The style of making films where everyone makes money, not just the producers, but also distributors and exhibitors. It is a healthy exercise. If someone loses money on something and you have made money out of it, it’s good to compensate. But that depends on the person and film.”

Kapoor cited the example of his grandfather who followed a similar practice. “When Mera Naam Joker (1970) released, distributors incurred losses. So when Bobby (1973) released, my grandfather gave a bigger share to the distributors than the exhibitors. Personally, if my film fails and I am making money out of it, then I will pay back the distributors,” said Kapoor.

Actor Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘Torbaaz’ is in pre-production and rest of the cast is yet to finalised, says its director Girish Malik.

According to reports, TV actress Ankita Lokhande has been signed for the film.

Asked about it, Malik told IANS, “We are currently doing our pre-production. I don’t know Ankita, and apart from Sanjay Dutt, no one else has been signed or even approached.”

“Torbaaz”, set in Afghanistan, is a story about child suicide bombers who have been trained to believe that killing is a virtue and glory is in the afterlife.

The film is to go on floors in December.

Malik is known for making the 2013 film “Jal”, which won the National Award for best special effects.

Production has begun on Priyanka Chopra’s next Hollywood project after Baywatch and A Kid Like Jake, for which PeeCee is currently shooting in New York. The film titled, Isn’t It Romantic?, stars Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth.

Yesterday, New Line Cinema announced the start of principal photography for the romantic comedy, being directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.

Priyanka Chopra will be seen in the role of yoga ambassador while Wilson will play an architect from New York City, who works hard to get noticed at her job, but is more likely to be asked to deliver coffee and bagels than design skyscrapers. Hemsworth stars as a handsome client with Adam Devine as Wilson’s best friend.

Strauss-Schulson is directing the project from a screenplay by Erin Cardillo, Dana Fox, Katie Silberman, and Paula Pell. The film is set for a 2019 Valentine’s Day release.

A source says that Mira wants Misha’s first birthday (August 26) to be a grand affair. The makers of Peppa Pig, the British preschool animated TV series, have approached her for a theme party.

The makers of the British cartoon series, which started airing in India in November last year, want to create more buzz around the show.

A source tells mid-day, “Hosting a Peppa Pig-themed party for Shahid Kapoor’s daughter will help them gain more popularity in India.

‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ is his upcoming action-thriller movie and is directed by Kushan Nandy. The trailer is out now and you can obviously predict that it’s going to be his one of the best we have seen so far. The movie is set out in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the accent and style surely reflects that. The trailer is filled with humorous dialogues and has some wild action romance. Also, before the release of the trailer, Nawaz apparently posted an image of him posing in Salman Khan style with a caption: “Jane kyun sab humko ‘Bae’ bulate hain… matlab #BesharamBabu , kal trailer lekar aayenge”. No wonder he’s a ‘bae’ of the entire nation.

The Hindu Makkal Katchi on Wednesday demanded ban on the Tamil version of reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ and wanted its host actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan to be arrested for tarnishing Tamil culture.

In its police complaint, the nationalist Hindu party demanded that the contestants of the show — such as Oviya, Namitha, Ganja Karuppu and Harathi among others — be arrested as well. 

They claim the show is obscene. 

“The participants are mouthing obscene statements and are acting 75 per cent nude. It is also derogative of Tamil culture and hurts the sentiments of seven crore Tamilians,” read the statement. 

“They should be arrested under law because they are hurting Tamil culture and the programme should be banned,” the statement added.

The show, which went on air June 25 on Star Vijay, marks the television debut of Kamal Haasan.

While taking up the role of the show’s host, Kamal Haasan had earlier said in a statement, “When ‘Bigg Boss‘ approached me to play the host, I funnily quipped, who better than me, right? All my life, I have been under a constant watch and have been judged on whatever I have done, public or private.”

“But now, the roles are reversed, as I would stand with the audiences and watch these celebrities in the house survive this ordeal,” he had added.

‘Wonder Woman’ has proven to be a critical as well as a financial success and has officially passed ‘Deadpool’ at the domestic box office in the US. The latter, fourth-wall-defiling superhero mercenary, recently took to social media to congratulate Wonder Woman. He posted on Instagram to share the following message from his alter-ego

Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, ‘Wonder Woman’ has grossed more than $368 million in North America, eclipsing ‘Deadpool‘s’ haul of $363 million. In terms of worldwide box office, ‘Deadpool’ still leads, $783 million to $746 million.

In addition to passing ‘Deadpool’, the box office haul also makes ‘Wonder Woman’ the tenth highest-grossing superhero movie in the good old USA. ‘Wonder Woman’ is also likely to surpass ‘Deadpool’ at the global box office before its run ends, as the film has yet to open in Japan and is still performing well both in the States and abroad in spite of fierce competition from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
