According to latest developments, it looks like the ferocious Cheetah isn’t going anywhere and will be the main antagonist in ‘Wonder Woman 2’.

To play this character the Warner Bros are going after big names and if reports are to be believed they are targeting Oscar-winner Emma Stone for the part.

The sequel to ‘Wonder Woman’ will pit the clawed super villain against Princess Diana. Created by William Multan Marston, Cheetah’s character has four different incarnations since its debut.

Definitely craving some Cheetah for the DCEU. Would love an Injustice League/Legion of Doom type flick for her appearance. #barbaraannminerva #cheetah #cheetahdc #cheetahminerva #cheetahwonderwoman #wonderwoman #injusticeleague #legionofdoom #dcvillains

The script of the sequel is being developed by Patty Jenkins, Dave Callahan and Geoff Johns.

Previously, actress Priscilla Rich had donned the hat of Golden and Silver Age Cheetah while Deborah Domains was the Bronze Age Cheetah and the third one was played by Barbara Ann Minerva.

As per Hollywoodreporter.com this one is said to be based on current Cheetah Barbara Ann Minerva and the film is said to be based on 1980’s during the abating days of Cold War.

Director Patty Jenkins has said that Wonder Woman 2 will be an entirely new adventure and will not feel like a sequel

Director Patty Jenkins has said that Wonder Woman 2 will be an “entirely new adventure” and will not feel like a sequel. Actor Gal Gadot will be back in the role of Wonder Woman/Diana Prince in DC Extended Universe’s Wonder Woman 2, which will have her face off against the Soviet Union during the 1980s.

“We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us,” Jenkins told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier (to do),” she added.

Superhero movies are always a treat to our eyes. After all, we all grew up dreaming of becoming a superhero with the ability to wipe out evil. DC and Marvel’s cinematic universe has truly added fodder to our imagination, by bringing these characters out of the comic books and onto the big screen.

Be it an otherworldly demigod who has special powers or an eccentric billionaire who can create an army of ‘Otherworldly creatures,’ we have seen it all. These movies not only captured our hearts and imagination, but also got the bank rolling.

1. Spider-Man: Homecoming ($879.1 Million)

Tom Holland as Spider-Man didn’t have too many takers, but when he stepped into the superhero’s shoes, he stunned critics with his performance. The effort to make the movie different from all the previous installments also worked for the team as they went on to earn more than any of the previous movies which featured Spider-Man. Now that sounds like one hell of a successful job. The second part is scheduled to release in the second half of 2019.

2. Wonder Woman ($821.2 Million)

wonderwoman(c) DC

This movie was a total game-changer for DC. From being loved by critics to the viewers, this movie created a buzz across the globe. Gal Gadot, as Wonder Woman, received massive critical acclaim for her acting while director, Patty Jenkins, was praised by everyone for her skilled handling of the character. ‘Wonder Woman’ went on to become the highest grossing movie ever directed by a woman. ‘Wonder Woman 2’ is scheduled to release in 2019.

3. Deadpool ($783.1 Million)

Deadpool(c) 20th Fox Century

Our favourite R-rated antihero, Deadpool, is third on this list. The film received praise for staying true to the comic books. Reynolds was loved for his comic timing and better approach to acting than in Green Lantern. It also received several nominations and awards. Deadpool 2 is scheduled for an early 2018 release.

4. Doctor Strange ($677 Million)

 Doctor Starnge(c) Marvel

‘Doctor Strange’ was a feast for our eyes, owing to the visual effects implemented in the movie. Such was the quality that it was even nominated for an Academy Award for its use of visual effects. A part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange is now expected to make an appearance in the next ‘Avengers’ movie.

5. Thor ($449.3 Million)

Thor(c) Twitter

Part-god, part-superhero, ‘Thor’, was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011 as the fourth film of the franchise. Since then, it has had a sequel in 2013, and the third film, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is set to hit the theatres this year. Any ‘Thor’ fan here?

6. Batman Begins ($374.2 Million)

Batman Begins(c) Twitter

With the first part of ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy, Christopher Nolan used ‘Batman Begins’ to re-introduce Bruce Wayne and Batman to the world. With a darker undertone than the previous Batman movies and a concentration towards building Batman more than his enemies, ‘Batman Begins’ is hailed as one of the best superhero films ever made. And well, we couldn’t agree more. The story-arc came to an end with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, which released in 2012.

The celebrities reading mean tweets about themselves segment on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ is honestly legendary. It is hilarious to see all the A-listers react to the meanest yet funniest things people on Twitter have said about them.

For the 11th edition of the highly popular and always viral segment – arguably the best one till date – Jimmy managed to gather some of the most famous names in Hollywood, including Gal Gadot, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emma Watson and Jennifer Lawrence. The best part is their reaction while they are getting roasted, all in good fun, obviously.

It starts off with our very own Wonder Woman, with a grammatical nightmare of a tweet.

The tweet sums up all the ridiculous criticism of Gal Gadot, and her being cast as Wonder Woman, in one sentence, but it didn’t seem to faze Gadot at all.

Even Jamie Lannister got roasted and his face is priceless.

Emma Watson didn’t know what to say.

John Lithgow had the best response to his mean tweet, though.

“My face is not complimented, but my ballsack is.”

Oh, even everyone’s favourite Sheldon Cooper wasn’t spared.

Wasn’t that a little too specific?

Jennifer Aniston’s face says it all.

Michael Keaton’s reply – “Put a gun in your mouth.”

Jennifer Lawrence obviously had a witty answer ready.

That puppy dog face, though.

A mean tweet by none other than US President Donald Trump also made an appearance.

But, the segment ended with the best response by Kumail Nanjiani.

‘A warrior princess who saves the world using her superpowers’…now who wouldn’t love to see a story like this unfold on the big screen? So when ‘Wonder Woman’ released in the month of May 2017, fans of the DC Comics’ character were overjoyed. Starring Gal Gadot in the lead, ‘Wonder Woman’ is the first superhero movie directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins) and thus, high expectations were riding on this, one of a kind movie.

However, if the release of a woman-centric superhero movie made the feminist in you jump with joy, we have another reason to make you all the more happy.

Please take a back seat if you are one of those who think that in a movie, a woman’s role should be confined to being the damsel in distress. Turns out, Wonder Woman not only kicks ass on screen but also, off screen.

According to Mashable, Wonder Woman is all set to be among the top 5 superhero films of all time, at the domestic box office.

The Top 8 superhero films list, as per early August, looked something like this:

1. Marvel’s The Avengers: $623.4 million

2. The Dark Knight: $544.3 million

3. Avengers: Age of Ultron: $459 million

4. The Dark Knight Rises: $448 million

5. Iron Man 3: $409 million

6. Captain America: Civil War: $408 million

7. Spider-Man (2002): $403.7 million

8. Wonder Woman: $399.5 million

However, according to the new report, by the first week of September, ‘Wonder Woman’ will manage to earn $409+, surpassing the Robert Downy Jr. starrer- ‘Iron Man 3′, ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Captain America’ and will move ahead to sit behind ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, at the 5th rank.

Although, snatching away the 4th stage from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ would be a little far-fetched, the fact that Wonder Woman has managed to reach the 5th position, among all the men-centric superhero films, is an achievement in itself. Also, the opening figures act as an important factor; ‘Wonder Woman’ opened at $103 million, while all the four films above it in the list opened at $160 million or higher.

Apart from the high earnings that the film has raked in, ‘Wonder Woman’ was praised by one and all.  Whether it was for Gal Gadot’s extraordinary acting skills or the strong and commendable portrayal of a woman character, the film took the box office as well as the social media by storm. No wonder, it was ranked number 1 on the list of Top 5 Summer Blockbusters on Twitter.

Jenkins, in an interview, also talked about the making of a sequel but the details are under wraps as of now. We can only hope that the second part is as good as the first one.

It’s finally happening! ‘Wonder Woman’ is getting a sequel and our excitement now knows no boundaries! Whenever one spoke about superheroes, we primarily thought of Batman, Superman, Thor, Spiderman, Ironman, Captain America, Hulk and many more. Well they all are superheroes but what’s missing in this list? A woman. But, this summer that trend changed when Warner Bros. brought to life DC Comic’s much loved and cherished character, Wonder Woman.

The fact that we are still swooning over Gal Gadot’s fierce avatar, killer looks, deadlier superpowers and impeccable acting skills is proof enough that she did an amazing job as Wonder Woman, after Lynda Carter, whose name goes hand in hand with the superhero. If you are wondering whether Gal Gadot will come back in this movie? Hell yeah! She will be in the sequel and slaying and beating the sh*t out of people, like she has been doing.

Within a few weeks of its release, ‘Wonder Woman’ has already become the third biggest movie of all time by Warner Bros., ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ are the two biggest hits by them. The announcement of Wonder Woman 2 was made at San Diego Comic-Con and it’s definitely a big deal for the fans across the world. However, it still concerns us how well the sequel will build up, after the fantastic response of the first film. After the sequel was confirmed, there was no way we could have kept calm. As expected, people couldn’t hold on to their excitement and took to Twitter to share the news.

Wonder Woman 2!! Yes it was already a given, but I’m still elated!! ??????????????????????????????????????

— lily (@GoSpurs90) 22 July 2017

Having said that, apart from Gal Gadot, if there was anyone who left an equally deep impact on the fans; it was Director Patty Jenkins, who showed the world who the real wonder woman is. The duo of Jenkins and Gadot has managed to wreak havoc on the success of other films and we aren’t complaining. They deserve all the credit for doing justice with the character. However, the announcement did not exactly reveal whether Jenkins will return to the director’s chair. But, the fans are excited anyway and Jenkins to be back in the sequel as well.

‘Wonder Woman’ has proven to be a critical as well as a financial success and has officially passed ‘Deadpool’ at the domestic box office in the US. The latter, fourth-wall-defiling superhero mercenary, recently took to social media to congratulate Wonder Woman. He posted on Instagram to share the following message from his alter-ego

The Merc May Be Filthier, but Her B.O. is Stronger. Congrats #WonderWoman #BoxOfficeBoss

A post shared by Ryan Reynolds (@vancityreynolds) on Jul 10, 2017 at 6:08pm PDT

Patty Jenkins has since responded to Reynolds’ message via Twitter and talked of mutual admiration:

You are the absolute greatest, Ryan Reynolds @VancityReynolds Thank you! We love you and your movie too. ?????? #deadpool #deadpool2 ?????? https://t.co/6Raj3VBEIR

— Patty Jenkins (@PattyJenks) July 11, 2017

Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, ‘Wonder Woman’ has grossed more than $368 million in North America, eclipsing ‘Deadpool‘s’ haul of $363 million. In terms of worldwide box office, ‘Deadpool’ still leads, $783 million to $746 million.

Here is the trailer of ‘Wonder Woman’, just in case you missed it the first time.

In addition to passing ‘Deadpool’, the box office haul also makes ‘Wonder Woman’ the tenth highest-grossing superhero movie in the good old USA. ‘Wonder Woman’ is also likely to surpass ‘Deadpool’ at the global box office before its run ends, as the film has yet to open in Japan and is still performing well both in the States and abroad in spite of fierce competition from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
