Katrina Kaif is an extremely talented actress and there is no denying that. Since the time she made her entry in Bollywood and till date, we have seen various shades of her. And just recently we came across her new skill. The actress took to Instagram and shared a video where she is trying to learn surfing in Morocco.

The beautiful diva captioned the video, “First time surfing Essaouira.” But she doesn’t look like a first timer at all. Looking at her we feel like packing our bags and go surfing as well.

First time surfing in Essaouira ??????????

Wondering what is she doing in there, well she is shooting for her upcoming movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ with Salman Khan and director Ali Abbas Zafar. Since the time the film was announced, fans are very excited to see their favourite couple back on screen. Abbas recently also shared a video where Tiger (Salman) is seen taking serious horse riding lessons and within no time that video went viral as well.

In one of the interviews, Katrina mentioned that this film is very special to her and have people who will help her in every step, “Ali is one of my closest friends and I have known Salman since I have entered the film industry. These are two people who know me and have trust in me, especially in the work capacity. I know they are there to make sure that the best happens to the film. Salman has the added advantage of knowing me well as a person, while Ali is one of my dearest friends, so that’s the best possible place possible anyone can work in. And that’s exactly what I feel when I am on the sets of TZH — I know that I’m in really good hands and I have people like them to help me every step of the way.”

Although the duo parted their ways, they still share a very strong bond with each other. We have always seen Salman by her side whenever she needs him. And just like many, we are excited to see them back on screen as well.

It doesn’t matter if you understand an word from the song ‘Despacito’, but if you are hearing it everywhere, from a nightclub to the cab, we all are desperately just waiting for the beat to drop to hum the single world we can sing! Yepp, honest thoughts, even Justin Bieber would agree.

‘Dilpreeto' Is Every Punjabi's Answer To ‘Despacito', So Why Aren't You Singing It Already? © Youtube

However, you need to shift to the new version in town which deserves accolades for sheer imagination and creativity. The song is titled ‘Dilpreeto’ and is every Punjabi’s answer to Daddy Yankee.

The song has been a buzz ever since Old Delhi Films uploaded it. They took every Dilpreet and Harpreet in town and added a ‘o’, changing the whole meaning, which is actually witty you know.

Bet if you are a Gurpreet or Jaspreet yourself, kindly be prepared to be the star with this song in your friend circle. Coming back to the original version, it’s always a good time to hear it once again.

Well, it is a known fact that Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ was the most awaited film of the year. After almost three years, fans got to see the director gracing theatres with his film based on World War II. The film revolves around the 1940s’ infamous Operation Dynamo. And with an amazing cast like Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Harry Style, Cillian Murphy, Aneurin Barnard and James D’Arcy, the film is surely another exceptional work of Nolan that will stay with us forever.

Many reviews are already out and critics say that “Dunkirk is chaotic, relentless, thrilling & one of the most captivating movies you will see this year. A master class in craft.” Honestly, we can’t expect anything less from a director who has created masterpieces like ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Interstellar’, and ‘Inception’.

So book your ticket soon because here are 6 simple reasons why this movie is a definite watch for every one of us.

Hail Christopher Nolan!

Christopher Nolan(C) Getty

When he decides to make a film, everything is directly from his heart. He is one of those rare directors who has never disappointed us. When other makers fall short of the idea, Nolan, on the other hand, comes up with concepts that you can’t even think of! Well, yeah that’s him, presenting an unconventional narrative in a way with an unpredictable ending. This is his first attempt at creating a historical story and we bet that you won’t be disappointed.

Yay! Harry Styles Makes His Debut

Dunkirk (c) Giphy

He doesn’t need any introduction. The former ‘One Direction’ member is rules the hearts and he finally makes his acting debut with Nolan. Now isn’t that an interesting combination? In fact, you would be surprised to know that Nolan wasn’t even aware of how popular Harry was before he cast him. In one of his interviews, he said,”I cast Harry because he fit the part wonderfully and truly earned a seat at the table.”

Recalling Historic Tale

We all know that Hollywood loves World War II movies and there are various films that have been nominated for Academy Awards. From ‘Saving Private Ryan’ to ‘Inglorious Basterds’, these films have been loved by audiences. But what makes Nolan’s film already a winner that it is represented from the British point of view. We wouldn’t be surprised if this film makes it to the Oscars.

Hans Zimmer’s Music

Nolan and Zimmer’s duo is inseparable ever since they worked together in ‘Batman Begins’. And we ain’t complaining; after all, who doesn’t remember that background score of the film. It is obvious like always, they will successfully cast their magic on everyone.

The Visual Experience

To give it a larger than life feel, the director has shot this film with IMAX  large format film cameras for greater visual experience.

The Incredible Cast

People who have seen Nolan’s film know that he is very particular about the people he works with. Once again he has cast Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy who have worked with him previously. Other than this, we also get to see Oscar winner Mark Rylance and five time Academy nominee Kenneth Branagh as part of this masterpiece.

Our favourite mini version of ‘Ghostbusters’, the little kids with intriguing brains are back, the nights full of terror are back and the creatures are calling out louder than ever before.

The New ‘Stranger Things 2' Trailer Is Like Michael Jackson's ‘Thriller' Coming To Life© Netflix

The new trailer for ‘Stranger Things 2′ just dropped and boy is it good! It’s like that song ‘Thriller’ just came to life and it so well executed that I wish the series was released like, yesterday only. Will is back to seeing ‘things’, and dwindles between the real world and the ‘other side’.

Did I mention that the background score is fantastic? Yes it is pretty intriguing. The trailer is living up to the hype and if you are a fan of this series, you sure can’t wait.

The season is reviving this Halloween and what better way to say ‘trick or treat’.

Doesn’t matter you are a diehard series fan or not, we bet you have heard of ‘Sherlock’. If not, then you are living under a rock man! From dominating Emmy Awards in 2014 to making it this popular around the globe, ‘Sherlock’ is one of the best TV series and many would agree with me.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are mind-blowing fantastic and don’t even get me started on their bromance that makes you adore these two even more. But still, there are many who are cynical about this show and fail to understand why is it so well-liked by the viewers. Believe it or not, being so skeptical can be dangerous for you, keeping in mind how crazy people are for this show.

Understanding that many of you still fail to get the aforesaid points, here are few things you might want to think twice before you utter it in front of a ‘Sherlock’ fan.

Just 3 episodes per season? That’s ridiculous!

Sherlock (c) Giphy

Ever heard of the expression quality over quantity? You know what else sounds ridiculous, you and your words. If you would have ever tried to watch even one episode of the show, you would understand why Sherlock doesn’t need lavish amounts of screen time. Just a few minutes into the show and you instantly end up loving it, but then you are used to watching Ekta Kapoor drama, so it’s obvious for you to say this.

I hate that British accent

Sherlock (c) Giphy

Bullshit, darling. You just don’t get it, isn’t it? But then have you ever heard of a thing called subtitles? They’re meant for people like you! Now you get it?

Sherlock’s deductive skills are just so unrealistic!

Sherlock(c) Giphy

Oh is that the thing? Have you ever heard of something extraordinary? If you so want realistic drama then just stop visiting TV series. Still, want to stick to your opinion? Then I disown you.

Martin Freeman is in Sherlock! I loved him in Bruce Almighty

Sherlock (c) Giphy

*Slow claps* You spotted Morgan in Sherlock? I am sure the makers missed that bit too. Besides their last name and the knack to express on-screen, the two actors have nothing in common. Now please get your facts straight, and then open your mouth.

All the skills in the world but no money!

Sherlock(c) Giphy

Well, you don’t have either of them. So please stop talking…..right this moment!

I can’t believe that Sherlock won so many Emmy awards. He just spoke very fast, not really acted

Sherlock(c) Giphy

You don’t like peace, do you? Only if your intellect was straight would you appreciate that awesomeness of Sherlock and the well-deserved recognition that it is finally getting. But then you have a low IQ, not your fault!

Byomkesh Bakshi is better than Sherlock

Sherlock(c) Giphy

What is it exactly that you don’t find appealing? His perfect cheekbones? His amazing one-liners? Is there anything you like except your douche face? Now, that’s the door!

Sherlock is simply a psycho

Sherlock (c) Giphy

If you don’t know the difference between a high functioning socio path and a psycho, God Bless you, child!

Feel, the need to watch Sherlock now and understand what is this craze all about? Then watch the Sherlock marathon airing in India from 24th July and experience the fever yourself. There are high chances you might become a fan yourself and if you still can’t get it…then it’s all about IQ, darling.

Man, we just can’t catch a break, can we? After the madness that was the Justice League trailer, the reveal of the Infinity War footage and just a ton of crazy shit, Marvel have just gone and stomped everyone’s sand castles down into the dirt and slapped us with the latest ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ trailer. And it looks good, it looks damn good. I mean, just look at the bloody poster!

Thor

Y’all know the drill. Hela, played by a scene stealing Cate Blanchett, is pissed off and lays waste to Asgard, flinging the God of Thunder all across the galaxy (pun intended) and smashing Mjolnir. Thor lands on a backwater planet where he is kidnapped and forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena. The Hulk shows up and proceeds to kick the Thunder God’s ass! And it’s freaking glorious.

Thor(c) Marvel Studios

The footage looks very cool with that awesome synthwave beat pulsating in the background. Marvel, my heart and soul are ready! I’m no Marvel fanboy, always been a DC stable, until Geoff Johns destroyed the company, but their trailers always manage to appeal to the nerd in me.

Thor(c) Marvel Studios

Thor(c) Marvel Studios

Oh, did I mention Loki? Yeah, he’s back. The fan favourite villain is back with that sly smirk and is ready to kick some serious ass alongside his brother.

Thor(c) Marvel Studios

And what can I say about the Hulk? Wow, If Marvel aren’t getting the rights back for Universal for a solo Hulk film, I’d just rather they do a whole bunch of Hulk team up movies. For sure! That final shot of the Hulk leaping into a fight with Surtur, the fire demon, is the bloody money shot.

Thor(c) Marvel Studios

Thor(c) Marvel Studios

The action is kinetic and the colours pop out of the screen. If there is one thing we know about Marvel is that they know how to get your blood flowing with a damn good fight scene. We can’t wait for November.

Comic Con is in full swing and new trailers have been hitting the net faster than the Flash. First, we got news of some incredible ‘Infinity War’ footage from Marvel Studios as they revealed the Black Hand of Thanos. Not to be outdone, DC Comics had their own warhead up their sleeve in the form of the brand spanking new ‘Justice League’ trailer.

JL(c) Warner Brothers

Look, we all have to admit that ‘Batman v. Superman’ kinda sucked. It was disjointed and the end battle was a huge CGI fight against a cave troll from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series that just wandered off the set of the latest Tolkien film. Naturally, fans were disappointed and were jumping off the DC bandwagon. Then came the travesty that was ‘Suicide Squad’ and it seemed like the end was near. But, DC had a small miracle in ‘Wonder Woman’ and it wasn’t a monumental shift or anything but it did help steady the ship.

JL(c) Warner Brothers

So, in light of all that we’ve now got 4 minutes of insane footage from the new ‘Justice League’ film and boy does it look crazy. Ok, we can’t say what the story and pacing of the film are but looking at the footage, we can sure as hell say that it looks like a lot of fun.

JL(c) Warner Brothers

We get a look at Steppenwolf, the newest villain to be introduced to the DC Universe. He looks menacing enough and sets up the arrival of Darkseid perfectly.

JL(c) Warner Brothers

JL(c) Warner Brothers

Also thrown in are a few cool moments with Cyborg taking control of the Batmobile and going apeshit and Aquaman using a poor Paradaemon as a landing platform.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think about the latest footage out of Comic Con.

Kangna RanautKangna Ranaut

All the debate and exchange of thoughts on nepotism is exasperating, but healthy. While I enjoyed some of the perspectives on this subject, I did find a few disturbing ones. This morning, I woke up to one such open letter (circulating online), written by Saif Ali Khan.

The last time I was deeply pained and upset about this issue was when Mr Karan Johar wrote a blog on it, and even once declared in an interview that there are many criteria for excelling in film business. Talent is not one of them.

I don’t know if he was being misinformed, or simply naïve, but to discredit the likes of Mr Dilip Kumar, Mr K Asif, Mr Bimal Roy, Mr Satyajit Ray, Mr Guru Dutt, and many more, whose talent and exceptional abilities have formed the spine of our contemporary film business, is absolutely bizarre.

Even in today’s times, there are plenty of examples where it has repeatedly been proven that beyond the superficiality of branded clothes, polished accents, and a sanitised upbringing, exists grit, genuine hard-work, diligence, eagerness to learn, and the gigantic power of the human spirit. Many examples, all over the world, in every field, are a testimony to that. My dear friend Saif has written a letter on this topic and I would like to share my perspective. My request is that people must not misconstrue this and pit us against each other.

This is just a healthy exchange of ideas, and not a clash between individuals.

Saif, in your letter you mentioned that, “I apologised to Kangana, and I don’t owe anyone any explanation, and this issue is over.” But this is not my issue alone.

Nepotism is a practice where people tend to act upon temperamental human emotions, rather than intellectual tendencies.

Businesses that are run by human emotions and not by great value-systems, might gain superficial profits.

However, they cannot be truly productive and tap into the true potential of a nation of more than 1.3 billion people.

Nepotism, on many levels, fails the test of objectivity and rationale. I have acquired these values from the ones who have found great success and discovered a higher truth, much before me. These values are in the public domain, and no one has a copyright on them.

Greats like Vivekananda, Einstein and Shakespeare didn’t belong to a select few. They belonged to collective humanity. Their work has shaped our future, and our work will shape the future of the coming generations.

Today, I can afford to have the willpower to stand for these values, but tomorrow, I might fail, and help my own children realise their dreams of stardom. In that case, I believe that I would have failed as an individual. But the values will never fail. They will continue to stand tall and strong, long after we are gone.

So, we owe an explanation to everyone who either owns, or wants to own these values. Like I said, we are the ones who will shape the future of the coming generations.

In another part of your letter, you talked about the relationship between genetics and star kids, where you emphasised on nepotism being an investment on tried and tested genes. I have spent a significant part of my life studying genetics. But, I fail to understand how you can compare genetically hybrid racehorses to artistes!

Are you implying that artistic skills, hard-work, experience, concentration spans, enthusiasm, eagerness, discipline and love, can be inherited through family genes? If your point was true, I would be a farmer back home. I wonder which gene from my gene-pool gave me the keenness to observe my environment, and the dedication to interpret and pursue my interests.

You also spoke of eugenics — which means controlled breeding of the human race. So far, I believe that the human race hasn’t found the DNA that can pass on greatness and excellence. If it had, we would’ve loved to repeat the greatness of Einstein, Da Vinci, Shakespeare, Vivekananda, Stephen Hawking, Terence Tao, Daniel Day-Lewis, or Gerhard Richter.

You also said that the media is to be blamed, since it is the real flag-bearer of nepotism. That makes it sound like a crime, which is far from the truth. Nepotism is merely a weakness of the human nature; it takes great deal of will-power and strength to rise above our intrinsic nature — sometimes we excel, sometimes we don’t. No one is putting a gun to anyone’s head to hire talent they don’t believe in. So, there is no need to get defensive about one’s choices.

In fact, the subtext of all my talk on this subject has been to encourage outsiders to take the path less travelled. Bullying, jealousy, nepotism and territorial human tendencies are all part of the entertainment industry, much like any other. If you don’t find acceptance in the mainstream, go off beat — there are so many ways of doing the same thing.

I think the privileged are the least to be blamed in this debate, since they are part of the system, which is set around chain reactions. Change can only be caused by those who want it. It is the prerogative of the dreamer who learns to take his or her due, and not ask for it.

You are absolutely right — there is a lot of excitement and admiration for the lives of the rich and famous. But at the same time, our creative industry gets this love from our countrymen, because we are like a mirror to them — whether it’s Langda Tyagi from Omkara, or Rani from Queen, we are loved for the extraordinary portrayal of the ordinary.

So, should we make peace with nepotism? The ones who think it works for them can make peace with it. In my opinion, that is an extremely pessimistic attitude for a Third World country, where many people don’t have access to food, shelter, clothing, and education. The world is not an ideal place, and it might never be. That is why we have the industry of arts. In a way, we are the flag-bearers of hope.

At the IIFA

When Varun walked on stage to receive an award at IIFA, Saif joked, “You’re here because of your papa,” to which Dhawan replied, “You are here because of your mummy.”

KJo joined them and said he was in the industry because of his father.

The trio then shouted, “Nepotism rocks.” Taking the joke further, Saif, Varun started singing, ‘Bole Chudiye Bole Kangana’, when KJo cut in, “Kangana nahi bole toh achcha hai, bahut bolti hai.”

He came to the city of dreams with Rs 2,500 in his pocket and an ambition to make it big in films.

But before giving him his due, Mumbai tested Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s patience so much so that the actor has now become fear-proof.

“I have already faced so much in my life. I have seen that time when I didn’t even have a single penny in my pocket.

And it stayed like that for two-three years. I used to have lunch at one friend’s place, dinner at other’s and a third friend would get cigarettes for me.

“I came to Mumbai with Rs 2,500. If I again face a situation where I am left with just Rs 2,500, I would not feel like a failure. I am not afraid of anything,” Nawaz told PTI. His first Bollywood break was a small role in Aamir Khan’s “Sarfarosh”. The 43-year-old actor continued featuring in blink-and-you-miss-it roles in various films till “Gangs of Wasseypur” came and changed his fate.

Nawaz says he thought about leaving Mumbai a lot during his struggling days but he somehow held on to his dream as going back was not an option for him.

“For 12 long years, I kept waiting but it was my choice. I chose to stay and keep trying. I was prepared to go through all the pain to achieve my dream of becoming an actor. There were times when I felt like leaving Mumbai.

“But I did not want to return to my village as people had already told me that I could not be an actor. Returning to Delhi was also not possible as my batchmates from NSD would have said, ‘Aagya tu bhi vapas’ (You are also back). These were my fears.”

From doing walk-on parts to finally being the star of his own films, life has taken a 180 degree turn for Nawaz, but the actor says he is still unaffected by the success he has achieved.

“After ‘Gangs…’ I have been continuously busy. I did not get time to sit and analyse my success or stardom. My priority is to act and not think about stardom.

“Of course, perception of people has changed towards me, but I am still the same. The only change in me is as a performer. I have grown in my craft,” he says.

Nawaz says earning money and fame is not his aim and hence fear of losing them does not bother him.

“It is not about money, but the experience I have gained during my journey, which matters to me. The experience of rejection and failure is priceless. These things have made me what I am today. Whatever I have today is much more than what I ever expected. I feel very secure in my space.”

The actor admits his focus is on doing good cinema and making sensible choices.

“I choose my projects as per my sensibility. I never pick films to prove that I am different or to show that I can do something which no one else can. Time tells you what to do in life,” he says.

The actor’s latest release “Munna Michael”, which also features Tiger Shroff and newcomer Nidhi Agerwal, hit the screens today.
