Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the Indian film personality of the year award at IFFI 2017 and he chose the occasion to highlight the power of cinema saying it brings people together irrespective of their caste, colour, creed or religion. The 75-year-old actor said cinema is the only medium that offers “poetic justice” in mere three hours and he is proud to be a part of the film fraternity.

“I have always felt that my request and regard for the Indian film industry have rested in the presence the film industry has had in our world. When we sit inside a dark hall we never ask the creed, the colour (or) the religion of the person sitting next to us. We see the same film, we laugh on the same joke, we cry on the same emotion, we sing the same songs. In this fast world of today, where can you find such a wonderful and worthy example of unity and integration as we do in the world of cinema,” he said in his acceptance speech.

Recalling a conversation he had with his father, eminent poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, the actor said, “During the last years, my father used to sit in front of the television and see a Hindi film every evening, often it used to be my own film. One day, I asked him what attracts him towards Hindi cinema and he said ‘I get to see poetic justice in three hours.’ This is the power of cinema. I am a very proud Indian and also a very proud and small member of this exquisite fraternity.”

Amitabh Bachchan was presented with the award by Akshay Kumar and Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Smriti Irani. The actor, in his speech, also said that Goa is very close to his heart and thanked IFFI for the recognition. “Goa is very close to my heart. My first film ‘Saat Hindustani’ was shot in Goa and therefore I have immense amount of memories and love for people of Goa. The very first fan I had was also from Goa her name is Zareen Fernandez. I just want to thank IFFI and Smriti ji for this recognition. I have always felt that accolade that come to me are something I do not deserve. I still feel the same but I do respect this award. Thank you so much for having me here tonight and honouring me,” Amitabh Bachchan said.

Filmmaker Mohammad Israr Ansari says he would like to dedicate his forthcoming film “Sallu Ki Shaadi” to superstar Salman Khan. “I want to dedicate my film ‘Sallu Ki Shaadi’ to Salman Khan. My entire team, including me, want Salman Khan to support us. We want to meet him as fans,” Ansari said here on Friday. The comedy drama’s tagline reads: “Until Salman Khan gets married, I won’t get married.” Explaining the tagline, the director said: “At the time of my wedding, I did not know whether Salman Khan will get married or not. Had I known that he would’t get married, I would have stuck with my tagline.”

“But I have interacted with many of Bhaijaan’s fans and they all have the same thing to say, ‘Till Salman Khan doesn’t get married, we won’t marry’. I have three of my employees saying the same thing.” Asked about dedicating a film to the superstar, he said: “Salman Khan has millions of fans and they all talk about different parts of his life, but no one has really thought about his marriage. And even if they did, they just talk about it, but no one does anything more than just talk. “I wanted to talk about his wedding and express it directly to Salman Khan. But then I had a better idea, I thought about making a film and putting my views across to him. I am Salman Khan’s fan and putting my request forward which I want him to consider… to get married,” added Ansari.

The movie stars Arshin Mehta. “I auditioned for the film. The title ‘Sallu Ki Shaadi’ got me excited. When the director narrated the script to me, I found it really amazing and so, I wanted to be a part of the film,” she said. She plays a heroine in the film. “The name of my character is Alia, who is a very big fan of Salman Khan. She is very chubby and has all sorts of problems. One of the problems is that she wants to get married, and she wants to marry Sallu,” she said. The film, which also stars Zeenat Aman, Kiran Kumar and Ravi Pandey, is slated to release on December 8.

After wowing their fans with Mashallah in Ek Tha Tiger five years ago, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have reunited for another dance number in their upcoming release, Tiger Zinda Hai. The duo is set to show their swag in Swag Se Swagat, a dance number that will release next week. Besides being a perfect platform for Khan and Kaif to display their crackling chemistry, the high point of the song is that it features 100 dancers from four countries — Greece, France, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago.

Turns out, dancers of different nationalities were roped in for the Vaibhavi Merchant-choreographed track to drive home the point of diversity, which is the song’s underlying theme. The background dancers are trained in ballerina, hip hop and Afroancehall, each bringing their unique dance form to the song. “Swag Se Swagat is essentially about celebrating peace, love and brotherhood. So we thought why not have Salman, Katrina and dancers from all over the world,” says director Ali Abbas Zafar.

The director reveals that shooting the number in the picturesque island of Naxos in Greece was an experience in itself. The locals were excited at the prospect of having an Indian project being shot in their hometown. “The entire town found out that a big Bollywood film was being filmed in their home turf. Everyone would turn up to check the shoot out. When we would play the song during the takes, the locals too would be dancing on their rooftops, balconies and alleys,” laughs Zafar.

Aish_salmanFor Bollywood fans, Eid is synonymous with a Salman Khan release. The actor has dominated the festival with six of his seven releases being runaway blockbusters. But come 2018, Khan will find a worthy competitor at the box-office — Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Rai’s Fanney Khan, which also stars Anil Kapoor in the titular role, will lock horns with Khan’s Race 3. The clash becomes all the more interesting given their history — Khan and Rai were in a three-year-long relationship before the duo parted ways in 2002.

Says a trade source, “It will be an exciting clash, since Aishwarya and Salman’s relationship continues to hold the audience’s attention, even years after it went kaput. While Salman boasts of tremendous box-office pull, Ash and Anil too have a huge fan following and will draw the audience to the theatres.”

The source further adds that the producers of Fanney Khan consulted their lead actors before zeroing in on the release date, especially since the makers of Race 3 had already booked the festival window. “Arjun N Kapoor, Prernaa Arora, Bhushan Kumar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra met Aishwarya and Anil, who were happy to have a festival release. The team is aware of Race 3 also releasing on Eid, but they are confident of their film.”

Producers Kapoor and Kumar released a joint statement saying, “We have locked the release date of Fanney Khan on Eid 2018 (June 15). We decided on Eid because the lead character Fanney Khan, played by Anil Kapoor, is a Muslim character and there’s no better day than Eid [to release it].” However, when asked about clashing with the action franchise, the producers refrained from commenting. Fanney Khan is almost complete, with only some scenes between Rai and Rajkummar Rao left to be shot. Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez’s actioner went on floors yesterday.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’s trailer was unveiled by its director Ali Abbas Zafar on Tuesday, November 8. The fans went berserk after watching the trailer, as it stayed to its promise of offering high-octane action stunts, those of the Hollywood standards. Reportedly, the trailer of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ has become the first Hindi film promo to surpass the trailer views of the magnificent ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif

According to an India.com report, the trailer of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’- sequel to 2010 ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ has garnered the most likes. It has surpassed ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ trailer by getting over 6,48,000 likes, whereas ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ has received approximately over 5,41,000 likes thus far. Considering Salman Khan’s previous outing ‘Tubelight’ proved to be a debacle at the Box Office, this achievement, merely in a short span of four days, shows to be a positive sign for the film’s report card.

Salman and Katrina, both are reprising their roles as RAW agent and ISI agent respectively from ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in the sequel, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. At the trailer launch of the film, when Ali Abbas Zafar was asked about the tremendous pressure on him to take the franchise ahead, he said, “There’s a lot of pressure. Obviously, it’s such a big film with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. It’s a big franchise and I did ‘Sultan’ with Salman, so there’s an added baggage.”

Daisy Shah made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in ‘Jai Ho’, and she is now all set to make an appearance on the big screen with the Bhaijaan of Bollywood once again. The actress has been roped in as one of the lead actresses in ‘Race 3’. Commenting on the same, Daisy stated, “I am elated to be a part of this cult franchise and to be working with Salman again. He has been a mentor to me and I’m sure ‘Race 3’ will be another great learning experience.”

Apart from Salman Khan, other actors confirmed on this list are Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol and now Daisy Shah. Apparently, Sidharth Malhotra was also to join the list, but he didn’t take up the film citing date issues. However, there are several reports stating that he didn’t want to get paired with Daisy Shah and therefore gave up on this big film with Salman Khan. Sidharth’s ‘Gentleman’ co-actress and friend Jacqueline will be romancing Salman in ‘Race 3’.

Daisy had a recent release, ‘Ramratan’ which went unnoticed. Her past outing ‘Hate Story 3’, also couldn’t help her revive her stance in Bollywood as a bankable actress. Let’s see if Salman’s ‘Race 3’ acts as Daisy’s silver lining.

Abbas-Mustan directed the first two films, but according to reports, choreographer-director Remo D’ Souza has been roped in to helm ‘Race 3’. No formal announcements have been made yet.

Salman Khan strongly abides by his film ‘Wanted’s famous dialogue, “Ek Baar Jo Maine Commitment Kar Di, Uske Baad Toh Main Apne Aap Ki Bhi Nahin Sunta” (Once if I commit, I do not even listen to myself). The superstar’s no-intimacy policy still remains intact, despite his contemporaries Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn bending the clause for giving in to the need of the hour. Salman and Katrina Kaif’s upcoming Christmas bonanza, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ had a sequence of intense intimacy between the former couple. However, a Deccan Chronicle report says that Salman refused to kiss Katrina’s luscious lips.

“Everyone felt that just this one time, just once, Salman would break his no-kissing code because the sequence is vital to the plot and also because, well, it’s Katrina. But Salman refused outright. Director Ali Abbas Zafar tried his best to convince him. However, nothing worked. The scene has been dropped now,” says a source in the know.

The 52-year-old has always maintained the no-intimacy clause with his leading ladies in the thought of being considered a prude. Not only this, he also has another clause, wherein, he’s stated that he would never play an antagonist or any character that has grey shades to it. The film which proved to be a turning point in contemporary Shah Rukh Khan’s career, ‘Baazigar’s this negative character was rejected by Salman Khan for the aforesaid reasons.

Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ is the sequel to Kabir Khan’s 2012 directorial, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, the trailer of which was released on Tuesday at the production house Yash Raj Film’s Studio. The Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer releases on December 22.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says as compared to earlier times, the vanity vans have changed and those belonging to superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have most tastefully done up interiors. “I have seen and been invited to a few. Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone — they all have most tastefully done up their interiors and equipped the interiors with almost all home facilities,” Amitabh wrote on his blog on Friday.

The cine-icon said that SRK’s vanity van consists of a drawing room fitted with a large TV console and added that he has been invited on occasion to watch football. Amitabh said that the concept of individual make-up rooms of earlier times has almost disappeared as personal vanity vans have taken over. He also remembered that the first vanity van that came to the industry was that of filmmaker Manmohan Desai.

“He had two made. One for himself and one for me. It was a gift, but one that I cherish till date. A bed, toilet, chairs, drawing room … like to relax on and music and TV systems in place, but difficult to operate,” he wrote. “I do not have that vanity now.” Amitabh, 75, has a “simple rented” vanity van now. “I am happy with its presence. Nothing elaborate, just enough needed for a shooting day,” he said.
