Last night, Kaun Banega Crorepati’s finale episode was aired, which featured Yuvraj Singh and Vidya Balan. The celebrity contestants donated their earnings from the quiz show to people suffering from cancer. The cricketer reminisced his battle against cancer, while Vidya showed host Amitabh Bachchan several memes made on his KBC dialogues. Big B has said season nine may have wrapped up, but he will be back with the show soon, which he considers dear to him.

Amitabh Bachchan says he tries to keep himself free during Diwali to spend time with family. The actor was addressing guests on his game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, when he said: “I try to keep myself free during festivals so that I can celebrate them with my family, but sometimes, if I am out of India for shoots, I can’t be with them.” However, it is suggested that the Bachchan family will refrain from celebrations this year following the death of daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai’s father Krishnaraj Rai.

We all know that ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) is based on the United Kingdom game show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ and is one of the oldest and most popular Indian Television game shows ever. But we’re just gonna go ahead and say the truth: the show doesn’t really owe its success in India to its concept. Sure, everyone likes to improve their general knowledge and if that can happen by watching an interesting TV show, then it’s a win-win situation. But the fact that the makers of KBC roped in the iconic Amitabh Bachchan as the host, right from its first season, is what made this show get the highest of TRPs.

Barring a few seasons here and there, the actor has been the face of KBC since 2000. The man himself is a brand but that wasn’t solely responsible for the popularity of the show. Hosting a show is an art in itself and the ‘Shahenshah’ of Bollywood has surely mastered it.

There have been many a moments that proved that Senior Bachchan is not just a legendary actor but a legendary host too. He laughs, he cries, he sings- there is nothing that this man hasn’t done on the show. The best part is that he ensures that the audience is hooked by just being his brilliant self.

Here are 8 most iconic moments of him as the host of KBC that will definitely take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and memories, making you love him even more (if that’s even possible):

1. When his benevolence towards a KBC participant made the audience cry

One of the best parts of watching KBC is that we get to see people with extremely diverse backgrounds and lives in general. One such participant was Yusuf Mallu who was physically challenged and couldn’t walk after being in an accident.

Mallu who couldn’t stop crying on the show was comforted by Amitabh Bachchan as the legend wiped away his tears .When he revealed that he had been fasting since morning, Amitabh went ahead and helped him drink water. Though they seem like little gestures but this is what makes Mr. Bachchan larger-than-life and such a legend.

2.  When he recited a poem from his father’s collection

No one is better at a strong dialogue delivery than Amitabh Bachchan. He has one of those unique baritones that could give one goosebumps. So obviously, when Amitabh decided to recite a poem written by his father Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan, it stole hearts across the charts. In case you are feeling a little demotivated, this motivational poem in his voice is just the thing you need to listen to.

3. When he danced with the adorable ‘Google boy’ Kautilya Pandit

Six-year-old Kautilya Sharma from Karnal (Haryana) is known as the ‘Google boy’ as he claims to have the answer to anything that he is asked. Though Kautilya wasn’t playing for money, he left Amitabh Bachchan and the audience in awe.  Big B had the time of his life while quizzing the young boy on various topics. But the best moment of the episode when Kautilya expressed his desire to dance with the superstar and he happily obliged. The duo shook a leg to the popular Chennai Express track ‘Lungi dance’.

4. When he revealed the “secret” behind the long sleeves of his shirts

Have you ever seen Amitabh Bachchan feeling awkward and blushing? Probably not.

For a man, talking about a ladies blouse is not easy. And that too on national television. But BIG B can do it all…well, almost. He indulged in a humorous conversation with a female participant as they talked about the issues with her weight. The conversation quickly escalated to ladies blouses and that’s when Big B revealed how he makes his shirts and coats fit his extraordinarily long arms. Although the audience was reduced to splits as this took place, Amitabh couldn’t help but feel a tad bit awkward towards the end of it. See the legend squirming for yourself!

5. When he had a special birthday celebration with his 100-year-old fan

Amitabh Bachchan had a unique birthday celebration on the sets of game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ in 2013. The actor met a 100-year-old fan of his, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and the only thing she remembered is Amitabh. On meeting her favorite star, she was overjoyed and screamed his name aloud, and also later danced with the actor.

6. When he “met” Lallan Bhai

Big B had expressed his desire for the Season 7 finale to be a little hatke, ergo he decided to become a contestant himself!

Big B decided to play the character of an aam aadmi called Lallan Bhai as one of the lucky contestants. As Lallan, he also danced to his own hit numbers.

In short, the episode was one of the funniest ones we have ever watched and it was all Big B’s idea.

7. When he became a rapper along with Bachchan Junior

Amitabh Bachchan is perhaps the coolest father and grandfather. The 75-year-old can do anything and everything including rapping. One of the latest season’s episodes saw Abhishek Bachchan as the host, where the father-son duo entertained us all by rapping perfectly.

8. When he couldn’t control his tears on receiving a special birthday gift

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, the KBC team decided to make Big B’s big day special by compiling a video for him. The video showed some rare known facts of his life including some memorable childhood memories. Big B was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t control his emotions and burst into tears.

A small music session was also organized on the sets of KBC to give a heartfelt tribute to the superstar.

It goes without saying that ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ belongs entirely to Mr. Bachchan. There WAS no one better and there never WILL be a better host than him. Period!

He will turn 75 this year, but there’s no sign of slowing down as far as work is concerned for megastar Amitabh Bachchan. He says his work diary could even spill into 2019, and he wonders if it’s “too ambitious”. Big B seemed to have been in a contemplative mood when he wrote his blog on Sunday night.

He wrote: “Idleness invites complacency… Begs it to be of immense disinterest and lethargic in nature… Binds you in an embrace that you find difficult to get out of. It is the fortune of goodness that I begin work in earnest again by tomorrow… ‘102 Not Out’ starts again and hopefully shall be the end of the film, by the end of the month or a few days into August.

“And then begins the ABC of ‘KBC’… And then some more projects… And the greater time for ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’… And on and on till most of the end of 2018 and perhaps spilling over into 2019… And then some more for consideration… And you wonder… Is it not too ambitious to be thinking so far and beyond.” Big B will turn a year older in October. His experimentation with films continues and his joy to host ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ seems palpable.

In “102 Not Out”, the actor plays onscreen father to Rishi Kapoor, while in “Thugs Of Hindostan”, he features with Aamir Khan for the first time.
