When it comes to bringing a beautiful story to life, there is no one better than Imtiaz Ali who can do that job effortlessly. He is a master of storytelling and has now come up with a new short film that literally connects to you.

‘The Other Way’ traces a journey of decision making and how often we are left confused. The story brings you Rewa (Shreya Chaudhry), a bride-to-be who is confused and starts questioning everything just hours before her wedding.

The narration starts with a non-linear pattern, as the movie talks about our deepest fear. Rewa is just moments away from getting married to her longtime boyfriend but somewhere she fears what if she gets bored once they are hitched? What if things are no longer the same?

Maybe not the same, but similar incidents do take place in our lives and that’s the reason why you end up liking Imtiaz’s way of portraying a story, that many of us can relate to.

What would you do when you are confused? Talk to someone you are very close to right? But Rewa finds comfort in a total stranger Arjun (Pavel Gulati), who is the photographer.

Ali’s dialogue and voiceover play a very vital role, as he hooks you to the screen within seconds. It’s not that you can’t sense what’s about to happen, but Ali brilliantly makes sure you don’t leave your seat and watch this 14-minute story.

Shreya Chaudhary is high-spirited like Rewa and her eyes often deliver her emotions without words leaving her mouth. Pavel impresses you as well. Imtiaz Ali’s short film is worth a watch and you shouldn’t miss it.

In a recent video with Film Companion, Imtiaz shared a few insights on what led to the brilliance of the final product of the scenes that eventually led to the wonderful song ‘Tum Saath Ho’. He shars some inside information about the shoot and how the actors got into the chaacter and how they managed to improvise on the whol script themselves. The whole video gives a new meaning to the song after you watch him explain it.

How many of us knew that there were three versions of this song before this one came up or how this scene in the cafe was shot over two nights and the actors had to emotionally prepare to that. The song combines the brliiance of his direction, the stellar acting of Ranbir and Deepika, the musical genius of A.R Rahman and ofcourse the magic of Alka Yagnik and Arijit Singh.

The Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ tanked badly at the box-office and was panned badly by the audiencess well. But defiant Imtiaz Ali and Shah Rukh Khan want to still defend the film even after the debacle. In an interview with Indian Express, Imtiaz Ali said, “Some said you really need to be intelligent to understand an Imtiaz Ali film. For me that was a blow. I feel that I have never been part of any intelligent club. I wanted to make a very simple film with all my heart. I have not made this film for praise. You know I would like to be the director who can make different kinds of films. This one is made to reach the maximum number of people. Not to just get praise for myself. I have been a veteran at this. When Tamasha released, lot of people praised the film but the film was not reaching the audience,” Imtiaz added, answering a question about the reviews Jab Harry Met Sejal has got since its Friday release.

Shah Rukh Khan, who worked with Imtiaz for the first time, echoed his director, saying the magic of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ will take time to latch onto people. “I have not seen Imtiaz Ali’s previous work. I have always believed the film should go beyond the subject and create some magic. I also believe people come with preconceived notion that they have seen already,” the 51-year old actor said. This statement has shocked everyone as Shah Rukh Khan had previously given a statement that he thinks Imtiaz Ali is a current day Yash Chopra.It has to be known as to how SRK could make a statement like that, if he claims to have not seen any of Imtiaz’s previous works.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Saturday injured his back while on his way to the city to promote his latest release ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. The actor was forced to delay his arrival by flight.

“I am sorry for the delay. I had to get a dressing done as I injured my back today (Saturday),” he said in a telephonic message to waiting reporters. It was not immediately known how he suffered the injury.

Shah Rukh, Anushka Sharma and film director Imtiaz Ali are expected to visit a mall here to meet their fans and then address the media. ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ was released on Friday.

SRK Jab Harry Met Sejal Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a Banarasi Meetha Paan named after him.

The paan which costs Rs 35 is being sold at the same shop Shah Rukh Khan had visited during his visit to the spiritual city of India, Banaras. He had gone for promotions of Jab Harry Met Sejal.

Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Imtiaz Ali had made a stop at a local betel leaf vendor’s shop to taste the flavour the city of Banaras had to offer in the form of ‘Banarasi Meetha Paan’. The trio were pleasantly surprised to learn that the shop was a 70-year-old shop, named ‘Tambulam Paan shop’. They then savored on ‘chilled meetha paan’ from the age old vendor, Satish Kumar

Shah Rukh Khan personally thanked the vendor and there was no limit to the vendor’s exultation after he met Shah Rukh Khan, Imtiaz Ali and Anushka Sharma.

As soon as Shah Rukh Khan left from the shop, there was a huge flock of people asking Satish Kumar, for the Meetha Paan that Shah Rukh Khan savored. There was immense alacrity amongst the people for the Meetha Paan.

Every passerby was telling Satish Kumar to make him the same Meetha Paan which Shah Rukh Khan had eaten.

Satish Kumar shares,”After Shah Rukh Khan has come and eaten paan at my shop, I am getting non stop requests for exactly the paan that he ate. Not just from Varanasi, but I am getting calls from other cities also to parcel and send that paan. So I decided to have that paan separately in my menu. It’s the most expensive paan that I have on my list.”

Now Satish Kumar has named a special meetha paan after Shah Rukh Khan which will be available at his paan shop, for INR 35.

Presented by Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film has released today.

aamir-srk After Aamir Khan tweeted about the success of Shah Rukh Khan‘s Jab Harry Met Sejal and congratulated him along with Anushka Sharma and Imtiaz Ali, it was Shah Rukh Khan’s turn to return the favour. The superstar replied to one of the tweets of Aamir Khan, where he had shared the trailer of his new film, Secret Superstar, and wrote, “This so much yaar. & as I mentioned ur trailer Secret Superstar is sooo endearing. Let me know when u can watch JHMS”

If you are confused by the tweet then let me decipher it for you. The first part of the tweet is for Aamir Khan’s other tweet where he said this, “Shahrukh, Anushka, Imitiaz, all the very best for your release tomorrow! I’m sure it will rock!! Looking forward !!! Love. a.” And then Shah Rukh went on to praise the trailer of Aamir’s upcoming film and called it endearing. He later asked Aamir when he would be free to watch Jab Harry Met Sejal.

We often see the bromance of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, it is very rare that we see Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan sharing their affection for each other. This is one such moment. Let’s just hope the duo, who has never shared screen space apart from a cameo in Pehla Nasha, sign a film soon with full-fledged roles for each. That film will be a sure shot blockbuster.

I wanted to launch Hawayein in the rain: Shah Rukh Khan

Z78_sharuk678 Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is the lead actor and producer of the film “Jab Harry Met Sejal”, wanted to launch the song “Hawayein” while it was raining to make the song more impactful for the audience.

During a press conference here, when it suddenly started to rain, the actor said: “I wanted to launch Hawayein in the rain. I wanted everyone to get wet and enjoy the song.”

The song was launched on Wednesday.

Shah Rukh even joked about opening up the shed of the event’s venue so that the rain could pour in on the audience.

“This is a very beautiful love song, the song’s title is just like today’s weather, ‘Hawayein’. The song has also been picturised beautifully. It’s a very cosy song. Pritam has worked very hard with Imtiaz and Irshad Kamil to make this music,” he said at the launch.

Shah Rukh was accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali and co-star Anushka Sharma along with music composer Pritam.

Talking about the song, Ali said that ‘Hawayein’ is the most intimate song between Harry and Sejal in the Film.

“This is the fifth song that we are releasing. I am happy with the results of the previous songs. I am glad that everyone has loved them. ‘Hawayein’ is a romantic number shot mostly in Budapest. I think this is the most intimate song between Harry and Sejal in the film.” said the director.

Since Shah Rukh has worked with Anushka in films with the same romantic genre, but with different directors — Yash Chopra, Karan Johar and Imtiaz Ali, Shah Rukh commented that all three directors have a huge inclination towards romance as a subject.

“Anushka and I have been fortunate to work with Karan Johar, Yash Chopra, and Imtiaz Ali. They all have a huge inclination towards romance, love and relationships more than anything else. But I think the essence of their stories is the same,” he said.

“What’s different with Imtiaz is, when you watch two people interact in his films, they seep into your hearts without having to introduce too many external obstacles and plot points. I think his stories are about the simple things.”

“I didn’t understand until I worked with him that his films are about special moments. As far as the essence is concerned I think every romantic filmmaker do it with a lot of depth and the same essence of love is the most beautiful feeling,” the “Raees” actor added.

The film is about the duo travelling across different countries looking for Sejal’s lost engagement ring.

Shah Rukh Khan, who is known as the King of Romance, has revealed that his wife Gauri Khan does not feel insecure seeing him romance onscreen.

The 51-year-old actor, who was present at the song launch of ‘Hawayein’, was asked if his wife Gauri Khan ever felt insecure with him romancing his leading ladies onscreen.

To which he replied, “After seeing me throw a woman in Baazigar, she never asked me anything.”

However, he added that it was meant to be a joke and one must not take it seriously.

When asked if he was a romantic husband in real life, SRK said, “I am shy to talk about this but I am a good company, I can make you smile, laugh, listen to what you say.”

The movie revolves around Harry, a tourist guide who is perhaps unaware of what he is seeking and Sejal played by Anushka Sharma, a Gujarati girl who refuses to budge till she finds her lost ring. With this as the premise, the movie traces their journey amidst various locations.

Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie is all set to release on August 4.
