SonamSonam Kapoor is on a promotional spree for her upcoming film “Pad Man” that has Akshay Kumar in the lead.

Though the actress has less screen time in the film, she will be playing a pivotal role and she revealed that she does not mind playing a small yet important role in a movie if the character is substantial.

During her recent interaction with IANS, Sonam shared that she is primarily interested in working with good directors because film-making is a collaborative art where working with the right team brings the best of every creative individual.

So, who are the director she wants to work with?

“There are actually few directors that I would love to work with again, like R. Balki, Rajkumar Hirani, Ram Madhvani. I loved working with them. That apart, I want to work with Shoojit Sircar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Shimit Amin among others,” she said.

When the actress was asked that despite her film choices, the tag of ‘fashionista’ never goes away from her image.

To this she replied that she will always remain unapologetic about it.

“I love wearing make-up and beautiful clothes. I think there is nothing wrong with it. If someone judges me based on that, it is his problem not mine.

“Seriously, I think when it comes to films, in last few of them, all my directors wanted me not to wear make-up because they think I have very good skin. That is why the no make-up looks. However, I do things in real life that I cannot get a chance to do on-screen. So yes, in public events, parties I flaunt good clothes,” concluded Sonam.

Apart from “Pad Man”, the actress is also gearing up for her next release “Veere Di Wedding” which will hit the silver screens on June 1, 2018.

Which celebrities you believe are the most influential?
I think not only celebrities, but every individual is influential in someway or the other.

On what do you spend the most: clothes, accessories, perfumes, underwear, or anything else?
I think I really splurge on clothes and accessories, as watches and shoes are my weakness. And new clothes, of course, no girl can resist.

Whom do you love more, your parents, friends, spouse, kids, siblings, your yourself? Why?
I love my friends and family but my nephews get a little more from me. They are my kids for the weekend, as that is when I get to meet them.

What do you do when not working?
I love chilling with my family and my friends, reading books or watching movies.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Totally, I am a stickler for romance and love at first side is a big part of it.

What is your dream project?
I’m a dreamer; I dream a lot and have a lot of dream projects that I want to achieve.

Tell me something about your last job, other than money, that would have inspired you to keep working there.
I worked in a kindergarten and being around kids really made me happy. It inspired to be with kids and today I conduct workshops with kids.

Describe yourself in one word.

Actress Anushka Sharma, who is loved for her chic and simple style, says she is not a slave to fashion.

“I like to dress well. I enjoy wearing good clothes but I am not a slave of fashion. I think it is important to use fashion and style as an extension of your personality,” Anushka told IANS over phone from Mumbai. The “Phillauri” star, 29, says it is important to have an individual dressing style.

“For me it’s good to know about fashion trends but at the same you cant wear something that doesn’t look good on you. So I know what works for me and what doesn’t. My fashion sense is very chic, comfortable and simple,” she added. However, Anushka, who is the brand ambassador for sunglass brand Polaroid, doesn’t like to over accessorise her outfits.

“So, for me sunglasses are a natural way of accessorising and practical. I think it immediately lifts your looks… That is the job that accessory has meant to do,” she added. The actress unveiled the fall/winter collection of the eyewear brand on Wednesday evening.

Talking about the association with the brand, she said: “It feels special because the brand has completed 80 years and it feels good to be a part of a brand at a milestone like this for them. I am happy that I am their first global brand ambassador.” Anushka says for her it is important that she actually uses the brand that she endorses.

Manish MalhotraManish Malhotra

Cinema has had an unmistakable imprint on his career but fashion designer Manish Malhotra says he was initially criticised for starting the trend of Bollywood showstoppers.

Malhotra, who has completed 27 years in the industry, is not only a celebrity favourite but has also been responsible for some of the most stylish movies, be it “Rangeela”, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” and “Veer-Zaara”, among others.

In an interview with PTI, Malhotra says, “Having Bollywood stars in my shows was never planned. It was organic. When I was doing my first fashion show, I made Urmila (Matondkar) walk as we had just done ‘Rangeela’ and a lot of actors came to my show. That unknowingly started the trend of showstoppers and the front row.”

The designer says while people mocked his shows for their star quotient, having a Bollywood showstopper has become the trend now.

“I was criticised for getting celebs. Today, when I see all the designers running after actors to make them wear their clothes or calling them to be the showstopper, I have the last laugh. For me, it was always out of friendship and emotions. I am a part of movies as much as movies are a part of me.”

Malhotra says his journey in cinema has been beautiful and the support of his celebrity friends keeps him motivated.

“I was so wide eyed about Indian cinema. I had the foresight to look into costume designing, which no one was looking at. Of course, it involved a lot of hard work. Today, I feel inspired and that encourages me to do a lot more.”

While juggling his collections and movie commitments, Malhotra often faces a creative block but the designer says he cannot afford to stay in that zone for long.

“Every day is not a Sunday and there are times when I come to my office and my assistants have a lot of questions. I go through them and feel blank.

“But I have the responsibility of 600 people who work with me. They are like my family. I am responsible for them. I don’t have a choice other than think and explore. I can’t let them down.”

With his latest collection “Tales of Indulgence”, which he showcased at the recently-concluded Lakme Fashion Week, Malhotra is venturing into bespoke tailoring.

The designer says he wants his brand to evolve with time and bespoke tailoring was something he was keen to explore.

“It’s 12 years for the brand. I wanted to push myself. The brand has been evolving and has done really well in the past seven to eight years. I want to add diversity and range every season and bespoke tailoring is something which we had not explored.”

She is one of the biggest fashionistas in Bollywood but Malaika Arora Khan said things were completely different way back in the early days of her career. The 43-year-old star, who has always impressed critics with her fashion choices, said she turned experimental over a of period time.

“I have evolved quite a bit from what I was. With age you kind of understand things better. My whole approach towards fashion and clothing has changed immensely. “Initially I wouldn’t think twice if I had to wear micro shorts, but now with time and age these things have come to consideration. Now, I am little more experimental. I was rigid earlier,” Malaika told PTI on the sidelines of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017.

The producer-host said she doesn’t like it when people wear clothes which don’t suit their body type. “I want people to check themselves before they leave their houses,” she added. Malaika today walked the runway for young designer Ridhi Mehra Sekhri, whose collection was inspired by the beauty and intricate interiors of Islamic domes. Dressed in a red attire, the fashion diva looked elegant and sensuous. She said she has always liked walking for budding labels as they are the future.

“Every time a young designer asks me to walk for them I feel it is my duty to say yes and promote them. And If I can be a part for their success it is great for me as well. I like pushing new talents. Even in reality shows, I like supporting the budding artistes. It makes me feel happy and content. “After being in the industry for so many years, promoting the upcoming stars is our duty,” she said. In her collection Ridhi presented printed handmade fabric stripes ingeniously woven together. The delicate bugle beads were turned into jaalis, while scallop print patches, fringes and metallic and fabric tassels added oomph to the ensembles. “I love retro fashion and love the bell bottoms, the fringes, the tassels and the bling. It is my eternal go to fashion,” Malaika said.

What makes a period film or any historic fiction drama a huge success? Storyline, yes! Brilliant acting, maybe! But apart from these it is the costumes, the opulence and grandeur of the sets that make the dramas more mesmerizing. It is this sheer brilliance that kick-starts our imagination and transports us back to that era. ‘Game of Thrones’ is one such show that has captivated our hearts since the day it first premiered.

From the battle between Starks and Lannisters, Daenerys’ revenge and her dragon’s wrath to Cersei’s passive and aggressive scheming mind and Jon Snow’s resurrection; every single moment has been an eventful and enthralling one. Talking about Jon Snow, have you ever wondered what it feels like to “know nothing”? Well, we kind of do, thanks to the numerous developments in the show that have left us as clueless as we were while watching the first episode of the first season.

Recently, an interesting fact surfaced that has left us shell-shocked. Did you know that our beloved show ‘Game of Thrones’ had an Indian and in particular connection with Delhi? We are not talking about any Indian-origin cast or crew member; we are actually talking about the lavish costumes and sets of the show. Surprisingly, their clothes, tents and fabrics and manufactured in Lajpat Nagar. Surprised? Well, you can take a minute to let this settle in your mind.

There is a company called Rangrasons, who have been supplying military ceremonial uniforms, fabrics, embroidery, furniture, architectural pieces, and accessories to the show. Found in 1945, this company has supplied fabric and costumes to various popular shows and movies and their contribution can date back to 1982, when they made costumes for ‘Gandhi’. Their other projects include ‘Captain America’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Kingdom of Heaven’, ‘Wrath of the Titans’, and ‘Price of Persia’ among others.

Wow, the world sure is small and we can probably now boast about playing a crucial role in the success of ‘Game of Thrones.’ Further, can you imagine that every woman’s favourite shopping destination, is actually a preferred choice of ‘Game of Thrones’ makers too!

Meanwhile this is how we are feeling right now.

Bollywood diva Malaika Arora shut down a hater who called her a ‘s**t woman’ and accused her of living off ex-husband Arbaaz Khan’s money and divorcing him for alimony.

It all started when a Mumbai-based photographer posted a picture of Malaika Arora in shorts. In the comments, a troll attacked Malaika for feeding on her ex-husband Arbaaz Khan’s money and claimed she divorced him for alimony.

A user going by the name ‘feelgoodfabric’ wrote, “This what these s**t women do these days. Marry a rich guy then divorce him for huge alumni. And then have fun with that alumni. Why do u need alumni if u are capable of earning… I respect ppl and not the gender…. (sic)”

He added, “Her life now is aal about wearing short clothes, going to gym or salon, enjoying the vacation. Do u seriously have any work… Or just feeding urself on the husband’s money (sic)”

He also commented, “The word is alimony (sic)”

Malaika Arora hit back at the hater and commented, “I donot indulge in such conversation coz it’s below my dignity, but I jus had to @feelgoodfabric coz u certainly got to get ur damn facts right before spewing shit n slagging me off when u know nothing bout me.except sit n pass judgement on other people’s life.i seriously suggest u find something to do with ur time coz u clearly have nothing better to do in life (sic)”

Here are screenshots of the comments:

Malaika gave a fitting reply to her troll, don’t you agree?

Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora have always maintained cordial relations with each other. The two were granted divorce in May. The couple, who married in 1998, had filed for it on mutual consent last November.

The custody of their son Arhaan remains with Malaika, while Arbaaz has access whenever he wants.

Malaika and Arbaaz have not let their divorce come in the way of spending quality time with their son Arhaan and other family members. Take a look:

Despite their split, Arbaaz insists his equation with Malaika’s family has remained unchanged. In anearlier interview with mid-day, Arbaaz said, “My association with Malaika spans over two decades. So, I have always been on good terms with her family. We celebrated special occasions earlier too. If things haven’t gone well between us, it doesn’t mean that the equation with the family changes. They still have a lot of love and affection for me and I have respect for them. Malaika wasn’t with us on New Year’s, but was there a few days before that. But, that’s not the point. We are very amicable.”

The two do not want their teenage son, Arhaan, to be affected by their separation. “We are responsible parents and don’t want our child to get affected. We want him to grow up in a healthy atmosphere rather than be worried if his parents will confront each other when they meet. Malaika and I are mature individuals and don’t want anyone around us to be affected,” he said.
