Apart from original content, the movie section boasts of a lot of different categories- from romance to drama, documentaries to sci-fi; you are bound to find something worthy of your time and interest. So, if sifting and browsing through thousands of movies is too tiring for you, allow us to give you some recommendations which will definitely keep you on the edge of your seats (or in this case, your bed).

1. Death Note

If you are a Japanese manga fan, then you must have heard of the Death Note series. In case you are not familiar with the story, Death Note is a fantasy, thriller film based on the Japanese manga.

A Netflix original, the story of the movie revolves around a student, Light Turner who one day, stumbles across a mystical notebook that has the power to kill any person whose name is written in it. A deadly game of cat and mouse begins when a determined detective named L begins to track him down, attempting to end his reign of terror once and for all.

2. The Shining

This one is a classic thriller. Directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick, who took each maddening piece of this Stephen King’s iconic story, which sees a writer and his family taking care of a very special hotel and developed it into a masterpiece. Dead twins, blood-spewing elevators, the mysterious Room 237 and a garden maze- The Shining is a film that manages to scare the hell out of its audiences.

3. Hush

Netflix describes the plot of this movie as, “A deaf writer who retreated into the woods to live a solitary life must fight for her life in silence when a masked killer appears at her window.”

A simple plot but a clever take on the ‘Home-Invasion’ sub genre, this movie involves great acting, wicked execution and a lot of nail biting moments.

4. Shutter Island

Leonardo DiCaprio fans, this one’s for you. Some consider ‘Shutter Island’ as one of his best works and one of the best psychological thrillers ever made. The movie is set in 1954, when U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo) is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. But things start to go haywire as soon he begins his investigation. The extraordinary acting, suspense and just the right amount of clues, this movie will keep you guessing till the end.

5. Psycho

This is the perfect combination of horror and thriller. The movie revolves around a young female embezzler, who after stealing a lot of cash from a man whom her boss is in business with, arrives at the Bates Motel, which has bewildering secrets of its own.

The movie was filmed in 1960s and is bound to take you back in time with its realism. Great characters, fantastic direction and music; make this one a classic.

6. Let Me In

First things first, ‘Let Me’ In involves a character who is a vampire. But that doesn’t make this movie any less good as calling this film a “vampire movie” doesn’t really do it justice. It tells the story of a bullied 12-year-old boy who befriends his female neighbor whose life itself is a mystery. The movie is an adaptation of the 2008 Swedish film ‘Let the Right One In’.

The movie is part thriller, part drama, part love story, and yet it manages to be extremely captivating.
