Vicky Kaushal undertakes five-hour paramilitary training to beef up for army commander role

Vicky Kaushal
Vicky Kaushal

Though Vicky Kaushal will be seen as an army officer in Raazi, he says playing a special force commander in Uri will be more challenging. Directed by debutant Aditya Dhar, the film is about the Indian army’s surgical strike in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir that was carried out after the September 2016 Uri terror attacks. Since Kaushal plays the commander who led the operation, he is required to beef up for the part.

Despite being in the middle of Raazi promotions, Kaushal is undergoing paramilitary training to gain weight and stamina before he starts shooting for Uri in June. The actor will be seen leading a regiment comprising 80 people in the film. “It was essential that I look the part. I don’t put on weight easily. I am yet to attain the ideal look. I perform a three-hour military drill daily, which includes jumping andrunning. To improve my stamina, I learn slithering and undergo obstacle training, besides the most important part of the job — handling a gun,” says the Masaan (2015) actor.

Though preparing for the part is physically draining, the actor can’t wait for the shoot to commence. “I feel proud to be an actor, because I am part of such a film. From playing a major in the Pakistani army in Raazi to an Indian army commander in Uri, I love the transition,” says Kaushal.

From decreasing dependency on loans to procuring cheaper equipment, Pankaj Tripathi has ideas for government to help group

Pankaj Tripathi
Pankaj Tripathi

Moments after picking up the National Award for his act as a cynical CRPF officer in Newton last week, Pankaj Tripathi reflected on his future plans, revealing that he saw himself doing organic farming. Having lived the life of a farmer in his childhood, he is versed with the hurdles that the community faces. Now that he’s in a position to do so, he hopes to improve their livelihood.

Talking to mid-day, Tripathi reveals he is working towards the betterment of farmers belonging to his native place, Gopalganj in Bihar. “Hailing from a farmer’s family, I have known the hardships [they face]. Given the effort they put in, and the returns they get in India, it’s not easy [to live their life]. It has always been my primary [desire] to give back to this community. I have already begun working on various programs,” the actor says.

On his course of action is an educative session that will enable farmers to learn about processes that can make their job easier. “In order to provide sustainable means of making a living, we are putting together a community that can demand better price points for [procuring] tillers of land, and making farmers better educated about processes. We also want them to be less dependent on loans and make a living with their personal funds.”

Tripathi simultaneously intends to uplift their method of living by building toilets to prevent open defecation. “I have tied up with local government [bodies] to help build toilets. I am coordinating with corporator and civic bodies. I hope to make facilities [easily] available to farmers, and educate them about their rights.” Should the initiative be successful in Gopalganj, Tripathi says he will extend it to other villages in Maharashtra. “It would be great if this can reach to the entire community.”

Monster Hunt 2 is set to release in India on May 11th

Monster Hunt
A still from Monster Hunt 2

Monster Hunt 2 is all set to release in India on 11th May, 2018 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu by MVP Pictures. With its striking visuals, a playful score and lightning fast fight sequence will surely please the worldwide audiences with its mega buster release in India.

Raman Hui, the director of Monster Hunt 2 comments on the certain elements which were used to make a successful movie, “Well, I don’t think there is one thing. You cannot say that if you do A and B then you will be successful. I hope it never works that way, even for us. It’s never like that. While working on Monster Hunt 1, we were so nervous because we didn’t know if the audience would accept that. We thought, at the time, that we should do it otherwise no one is going to make something like that. So we, with Bill Kong, who is so brave and supports everything, we went ahead and did it. Then we didn’t expect it to be a huge success. I was just hoping that if Bill can break even at least he’s not losing a lot of money. But it turned out to be a huge success and then I could do it again.”

Adding to this, Raman concludes, “In this one, they come to realize that maybe setting Wuba free at the end of Monster Hunt 1 was not the right choice. If you love someone, even if there are a lot of obstacles, you should be with them.”

Catch the story of Wuba unfold on 11th of May, 2018 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in cinemas near you
