Zero-Abhishk-kapoorTroubles seem to be far from over for Sara Ali Khan. After the director of her debut film Kedarnath, Abhishek Kapoor and producer Prerna Arora parted ways, reports have been doing the rounds that the project has been shelved. While Abhishek Kapoor aka Gattu assured that the movie is on track and the second schedule has already commenced, the reasons cited by the Fitoor maker for his fallout with KriArj Entertainment were financial interferences and lack of transparency. KriArj Entertainment, founded and headed by Prernaa Arora, contested that the “unprofessional” and “disorganized” handling of the production by Abhishek’s company was the real reason for the severing of ties. However, as per a leading daily, the filmmaker has been foul-mouthing other biggies including Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Rohit Shetty.

According to a report in DNA, Abhishek Kapoor and KriArj Entertainment first locked horns when Prernaa Arora suggested that Kedarnath should not release on December 21, 2018 in order to avoid a clash with Shah Rukh Khan Zero. This did not go down well with Kapoor. “Her suggestion hurt Gattu’s ego. So, he tweeted that Kedarnath would release with Zero, even after Prernaa had officially announced that the film would come on a different date,” DNA quoted a source as saying. But that isn’t all about it. Gattu sent out text messages to people, and spoke ill of Shah Rukh. The daily quoted a source who was also one of those who received the messages, as saying, “Right before the Zero teaser was released on January 1, Gattu sent out a text saying he had watched the teaser and the song and felt SRK looked like an alien in it. He has been ridiculing the actor and his look as a dwarf ever since. He is confident that his film will be better than Zero.”

Cut to Dhadak. 2018 will be witness to two of the most promising female debutants in the form of Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. While Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter shall make her debut with Kedarnath, Karan Johar’s Dhadak will be Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s first on-screen appearance. Naturally, bets are being placed on who shall take away the Best Debutant trophy! For those living under a rock, it was alleged that Karan Johar’s project would serve as Sara’s launchpad. While that didn’t take off, Dhadak, a Hindi remake of Marathi superhit movie Sairat shall arrive in cinemas before Kedarnath. When the first look of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer was released, Abhishek mocked the poster and texted out saying the same, reports DNA. “He sent a few texts saying he feels it’s a rehash of a South film. He also said that the posters lacked steam. Hence, he didn’t consider Janhvi as a threat to Sara,” a source quoted by the daily claims.

After talking ill about Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, Gattu didn’t spare Rohit Shetty either. While Kedarnath releases on December 21, a week later shall arrive Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s first 70 mm collaboration – Simmba. Given the fact that Ranveer has only been seen in historical dramas lately, fans are excited to see their superstar in a rather masala entertainer, add to that Shetty’s magic tricks, aren’t we all expecting a blockbuster? But Abhishek Kapoor feels Simmba will be delayed. “He is extremely sure that Rohit won’t be able to wrap up Simmba in time and it won’t hit theatres on the decided date,” a source was quoted by DNA.

It yet remains to be seen if Abhishek Kapoor has actually made these comments or not. With Kedarnath in the eye of the storm, we wonder what the movie’s fate looks like.

SalmanBollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is busy shooting for his upcoming film Race 3, says he cant afford the luxury of being depressed or emotional. Apart from giving a number of blockbusters, Salman is also known for launching new faces in the film industry and doing charity work through his ‘Being Human Foundation’.

What makes him so selfless and keeps him going? “When I was 15-16 (years old), I started partying and stuff like that because that’s the age when everyone parties. When I was in college, I used to assist in films and then I started working as a model too,” Salman said at the TiE Global Summit (TGS) 2018 on Thursday.

Going down memory lane, he said, “One day, Mr. Kailash Surendranath (advertising filmmaker) made me face the camera for the first time. It was for his Campa Cola advertisement, so, he used to take me out for parties. One day, he kept his arm around me and said ‘Salman, I don’t think you should waste your time by spending your father’s money’. Though he said that jokingly, I didn’t take that as a joke. Straight after that, I started working and till today, I don’t take holidays.”

If he is not doing films or not feeling well then also he keeps himself busy. “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said.

The Tiger Zinda Hai star said an actor’s life does not have any “sub-titles” to show what he is going through at any stage of his life. “My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up well, do stylised action sequences and romance. My articles come on affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… people see me on Bigg Boss in which I am laughing and joking,” said the reality show’s host.

“So, people think that he doesn’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through, you have to forget that and you have to focus on your craft,” he added.

I AM A CHILD WITH LOVE AND CARE

I WONDER HOW FAR THE STARS REACH

I HEAR THE RUSH OF THE WAVES

I SEE THE DEEP BLUE SEA

I WANT TO BE A LOVING CHILD OF GOD

I AM A CHILD WITH LOVE AND CARE

I PRETEND TO BE A BLOOMING FLOWER

I FEEL THE SOOTHING HANDS OF GOD

I TOUCH THE MOUNTAINS WAY SO FAR

I WORRY IF I AM LIKED BY ALL

I CRY FOR THE ONES WHO NEED GOD’S TENDER TOUCH

I AM A CHILD WITH LOVE & CARE

I UNDERSTAND THAT LIFE MUST END

I SAY YOU MUST WORK HARD

I DREAM WHAT I OUGHT TO DREAM

madhubala_Watching our favourite actors perform on-screen is one helluva experience. The perfect faces, the wide smiles and the beautiful expressions almost always leave us asking for more. And the deeper we delve into their lives, the more we appreciate their acting.

And more often than not, even as sadness colours their life off-screen, they go on performing perfectly well onscreen. One such irony-clad actor is none other than Madhubala, a heroine who was regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world during her time and arguably, even in today’s time.

Madhubala, one of the most beloved romantic actor of the Indian film industry, was born on February 14th 1933, Valentine’s Day. Her life, however, was anything but a smooth sail. Her father, Ataullah Khan, who lost his job as a worker at the Imperial Tobacco Company in Peshawar, Pakistan, shifted to Bombay. The family was struggling to make ends meet and Ataullah would often take the young girl to film studios in search of work.

At a tender age of 9, Madhubala, then known as Mumtaz Begum, was signed in for the film Basant in 1942. It was only a matter of time that Madhubala shot to fame and her work in the 1949 film Mahal got her the success she rightfully deserved. She was just 16.

Now, picture this- it was 1954 when the gorgeous Madhubala was shooting for SS Vasan’s film Bahut Din Huwe and during the shooting, she vomited blood, reportedly, for the very first time. She resumed shooting soon after being treated and everybody presumed that she was perfectly alright until she fainted while shooting with Raj Kapoor for the 1957 film Chalack.

Sadly, the film never saw the light of the day.

As it turned out, she had a serious condition of cyanosis and poor oxygen perfusion, colloquially referred to as a “hole in the heart”. And it’s our collective loss that during that time, the medical community’s understanding of the condition was in its infancy and there was no available treatment.

Isn’t it ironical that the beautiful and charming leading heroine of Indian films, who was growing into a vibrant and serene actor, accumulating recognition around the world, was also slowly and simultaneously degenerating into a fragile being, who’s plight was only known to a few.

Her life compels me to recall a stanza from an Emily Dickinson poem:

“Hope” is the thing with feathersThat perches in the soulAnd sings the tune without the wordsAnd never stops at all.”

I believe, Madhubala’s feathers, regardless of her terminal ailment, still had some flight left in them. She resumed work after a month’s rest as opposed to three month’s prescribed to her after she fainted during the shooting of Chalack. Her hope and grit prevailed and she completed every project she signed on during the ten years it took to complete her last film, the classic Mughal-E- Azam.

On one hand, she was fighting for her life and doing justice to her art, and on the other, she was traversing and struggling with her personal life. Madhubala was engaged to the legendary actor Dilip Kumar. However, their relationship reportedly went south because Madhubala’s father wasn’t happy with it.

Madhubala left Dilip Sahab soon after and subsequently, married Kishore Kumar. Well, things were looking up for her but the doctors soon informed her that she won’t live for long. The tragedy only deepened with Kishore Kumar buying her a house in Mumbai, only to leave her alone.

madhu_kishor

It is tragic that Madhubala spent her last days in depression and loneliness. What was once the most beautiful face to ever grace the silver screen, full of freshness, vibrancy and youth, was left alone to perish. With a vivid palate of emotions, she could make us laugh with her work in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi and move us to tears with her performance in Mughal-E-Azam.

Her talent mixed with her indomitable spirit motivated her to venture into direction with a film named Farz Aur Ishq. However, during the pre-production stage of the film, Madhubala succumbed to her illness on February 23rd, 1969, and passed away, leaving behind a timeless remembrance, full of beauty, grit and ‘feathers’.
I can almost hear her sing, ‘Kisi din ye tamaashaa muskuraakar hum bhi dekhenge,’ even today.

tiger_dishaWe all are aware of the fairy-tale romance between, Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani. While the lovebirds haven’t made their relationship official yet, it is known to all that they are in a committed relationship and are frequently spotted at various public places and parties together.

On the forefront everything looks so beautiful and lovely, but it’s not what’s on the inside!

If reports in DNA are to be believed, Disha has been very controlling towards Tiger. She is a complete possessive girlfriend.

An insider has revealed to the popular daily, “Disha is a control freak. Apparently, she has been bossing over Tiger and controlling him.”

Not only this, she has also restricted Tiger from interacting with his female co-stars.

“This is Tiger’s first relationship and he’s crazy about Disha. She, on the other hand, keeps a tab on his moves. She allegedly checks his phone regularly and has also given him a diktat to talk to his female co-stars only when he is on the sets. She has also told him that she doesn’t appreciate him liking another actress’ pictures on Instagram.”

Her strict rules and regulations for Tiger has left him with a very handful of friends.

One of his close friend has revealed, “He has changed completely. Disha is extremely possessive about him. Her behaviour has ticked off most of Tiger’s friends.”

Apart from his friends, even Tiger’s mom, Ayesha Shroff dislikes Disha to the core.

The source further reveals, “Tiger’s mom Ayesha isn’t too fond of Disha. But his sister (Krishna) and the actress gel well. His mom feels Tiger has become distant from her. He is living in with the model-turned-actress in her new pad and reportedly there’s been an argument in the family over this issue.”

salman-khan-arijit-singhTwo years after singer Arijit Singh hinted that owing to a discord with Salman Khan, the superstar got his version of “Jag Ghommeya” dropped from Sultan, to replace it with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice, there are reports that the actor has got the numero uno playback singer’s track replaced one more time from upcoming film, Welcome To New York.

Arijit, in a Facebook post in May 2016, revealed he had rubbed Salman the wrong way with his behaviour at an awards show, where the star was also present. The singer also apologised in the long post and requested Salman to “not remove the song that I sang for you in sultan. You want anyone else to sing this song, absolutely fine but keep a version at least. I have sung enough songs sir. But I want to retire with at least one song of you keeping in my library. Please do not take away this feeling.”

Salman, on his part, replied that the decision to use the track depended on the director and the producer of Sultan and people should not make a big deal out of the fact that it was Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, whose version was being used in the film’s final cut and not Arijit’s.

Today, fresh reports have emerged suggesting that in Sonakshi Sinha-Diljit Dosanjh starrer Welcome to New York, which has a special appearance of Salman in a song, Arijit’s voice has been dropped, with the reason being the Tiger Zinda Hai actor’s long-standing issue with the singer.

The film’s team is yet to give any official response on the rumour, but a source close to the movie refuted the report, while sharing with indianexpress.com, “Salman sir hasn’t interfered with the project at all.”

Also starring Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh, Welcome to New York will arrive in theatres on February 23.
