This movie tells the true story of Agent Joseph Pistone who managed to infiltrate one of the New York crime families in the 1970s. Donnie Brasco is his codename and the film portrays a unique relationship between Brasco and Al Pacino’s character “Lefty”. This movie is a complete rat race!

3. Pulp Fiction

‘Pulp Fiction’ is probably THE movie Quentin Tarantino is known for. He has the ability to tell a unique and compelling story using complicated subplots and strong characters. The movie is all about poetic hitmen, boxers and evil gang bosses.

‘Scarface’ deserves a spot on this list thanks to Al Pacino’s performance as Tony Montana. Tony Montana and his close friend Manny build a strong drug empire in Miami. However, as his power begins to grow, so does his ego and his enemies, and his own paranoia begins to plague his empire. 

5. The Godfather 1 & 2 (Available on Netflix and Amazon Prime)

The movie by Francis Ford Coppola is a masterpiece just like the book it’s based on. The movies showcase complicated family relationships, the inner working of a Crome family and realism that cannot be captured by any gangster movie. Coppola managed to put audiences in the shows of Michael Corleone who was removed from the typical Italian experience in the U.S.A. Marlon Brando’s portrayal of the patriarch mob boss will go down as the greatest performance of all time. 

The sequel to the movie is also centred on Vito Corleone and his rise to power. Robert De Niro’s embodiment of the character is simply mind-blowing and taught us more about the mob boss than the first installment in the trilogy. 

6. The Usual Suspects (Available on Netflix and Amazon Prime)

This may classify more as a heist movie over anything else. However, it does have mafia undertones that result in unsuspected consequences for everyone involved. We don’t want to unravel more information about this movie as it reveals one of the most shocking and unexpected twists in cinema’s history. It’s right up there with Darth Vader’s revelation to Luke Skywalker. 

7. Casino

It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Casinos were heavily funded and run by Mafia bosses from New York and other areas. Yet another Martin Scorsese movie that is set in the desire oasis of Las Vegas. This is a classic tale of two mobsters who were once best friends trying to fight and expand their business in Sin City.

8. The Untouchables (Available on Netflix and Amazon Prime)

The movie is filled with a cast that includes Robert De Niro, Brian De Palma, David Mamet, Kevin Costner, Sean Connery and Ennio Morricone, The movie is set in the city of Chicago and dips its feet portraying true events that took place when Al Capone had a firm grip over the city. Everyone knows about Al Capone and his exploits; however, a brutal scene in this movie shows us Capone’s true side and his monstrous acts. The movie is definitely jarring and depicts violence that would make anyone uncomfortable. However, we highly recommend this movie for the subject matter and its realism. 

If you ever believed in that age old legend that how all of us have around seven doppelgangers  in the world, then maybe you should continue believing in it, or at least Peter Dinklage aka Tyrion Lannister should definitely believe in it. Although the character claims to drink a lot and know a lot of things, this is one piece of information that will leave him shook. He has a Kashmiri doppelganger named Tariq Mir who was spotted by Imtiaz Ali and it’s insane how similar the two actors look!

Tariq was spotted by Imitiaz while he was shooting for a project in the Valley and became instantly viral after the director shared a picture with him.

However, acting was more of serendipity for Tariq and not a conscious choice which he made. Turns out that Imtiaz’s distant relative and a line producer in his team spotted him while he was auditioning to be a clown for a children’s event. It was after this meeting that Tariq realised that someone called Peter Dinklage existed in Hollywood and they were basically twins!

Tariq is only 30 years old as compared to Peter who is now 48 years. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, he shared how life had suddenly changed after this new found fame. “Now, I have become famous. It has given me and other actors in the Valley hope that we can accomplish big things. I recently played Tyrion in a short film and now it is my dream to meet him, I imitate his walk, his style… even his clothes. I feel proud every time I see him on Game Of Thrones. Tyrion Lannister is an inspiration for every dwarf.”

It’s amazing how resembling a celebrity can completely change the life of an ordinary person.

The yesteryear’s angry young man, Amitabh Bachchan, is a grammar nazi too. Who knew? It happened over Twitter that Big B cutely corrected Alia Bhat’s spelling mistake, when she wrote ‘que” for “cue”.

Big B, who is collaborating with Alia and Ranbir Kapoor for the first time in Brahmastra, expressed his excitement over working with the two.

“A joy and an honour and an absolute delight to be in the same frame as Ranbir Kapoor and Alia .. first day of shoot for ‘Brahmastra’ .. this generation is simply exquisite and impeccable .. no pictures because cannot release them .. but I do have them .. MANY…,” he wrote.

Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, Bhramastra is being made under Dharama productions. It is a fantasy adventure film, the first part of a trilogy and is expected to hit the screens on August 15 next year.

There’s a protest happening at dhobi ghat, a lady gets hit by one of the goons, a guy runs for help & that’s how we get our lead protagonist – Karikaalan aka Kaala (Rajinikanth). He’s the Robinhood of Dharavi which is second-largest slum in the continent of Asia and the third-largest slum in the world. He’s the messiah for the people of Dharavi who now request him to defend their land from the corrupt politicians.

Hari Dada (Nana Patekar) wants to grab the land and start his pet project ‘Pure Mumbai’ on it. Hari wants to eliminate the slums to build skyscrapers on it. This brings the black & white, Ram & Ravan – Hari and Kaala face to face. Kaala tries everything to protect his fort Dharavi & Hari leaves no stone unturned to pull him out from it. The crux of the story revolves around the rivalry of Hari Dada and Kaala. Kaala’s Godfather-designed family, too, plays an important role in this war of good vs bad.
