Aamir Khan and China is like a deadly combination. His movies always work there, and it seems like Chinese people have a soft spot for Aamir. They love him and his movies so much that ‘Dangal’ became India’s highest grossing movie worldwide, coming close to making ₹2000 crore, all thanks to them.

And now, another Aamir Khan movie is receiving a ton of love and adoration from the Chinese audience. Despite not doing as well at the Indian Box Office as it should have, ‘Secret Superstar’ has become a huge hit in our neighbouring country. In the movie, Aamir only has an extended cameo, but if he’s there, so are his Chinese fans.

The incredible movie is getting the recognition it deserves in China, and it even broke ‘Dangal’s’ opening day collection in the process. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Secret Superstar’s’ opening day numbers have well exceeded those of ‘Dangal’. Moreover, the movie, which has Zaira Wasim in the lead role, made a whopping ₹43 crores on Friday alone.

Sensational, indeed.

Aamir Khan scores yet again in China… #SecretSuperstar debuts at No 1 spot at China BO… Collects a WHOPPING $ 6.79 million [₹ 43.35 cr] on Fri… Opening day numbers are HIGHER than #Dangal there… SENSATIONAL!

— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) January 20, 2018

He even predicted that this is just the beginning; the movie is set to do even bigger numbers there.

The tremendous goodwill that #Dangal – and prior to that #PK – created in China has benefited #SecretSuperstar… Although Aamir has an extended special appearance in #SecretSuperstar, Aamir’s star pull is at the peak in China… Expect magical numbers yet again!

— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) January 20, 2018

Well, that would be crazy!

Secret superstar has become a blockbuster in china, thanks to aamir khan’s crazy fan following there
People are saying it will cross entire india business in 3 days over there

— Ashish Chanchlani (@ashchanchlani) January 20, 2018

What a nice thought! It should and it does.

When the world rewards Aamir Khan with success it gives me hope that good content will always come out on top. #Dangal #SecretSuperstar #SecretSuperstarInChina

By now, everyone knows that the release date of ‘PadMan’ has been pushed to February instead of releasing on Republic Day weekend. This was done so that ‘Padmaavat’, which has met with controversy at every turn over every little thing, can have the spotlight alone, because honestly it deserves to have a fair chance.

Akshay Kumar made this important announcement, along with the new release date – 9th February – at a press meet, which also had ‘Padmaavat’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in attendance.

He said, “My film was going to come on January 25 and ‘Padmaavat’ was also releasing on the same date. I was rehearsing for the Filmfare Awards, and Bhansali sir came there and said I have done a lot of films with him, and if I can move my film. See, we are one family and I can understand he has gone through a lot, he has put a lot of money, the studio people have put a lot of money. I would want ‘Padmaavat’ to release solo and would like to wish him luck. ‘PadMan’ will now release on February 9.”

.@akshaykumar reveals how Mr Bhansali requested him to shift the release date and since everyone is part of the film fraternity, he agreed.. pic.twitter.com/zjm7pHlNKh

— Faridoon Shahryar (@iFaridoon) January 19, 2018

He went on to say, “Sanjay is a very personal dear friend of mine. He asked for it, so I went for it. They have a reason to release it this time. It is very essential for them to release it as quickly as possible. So, I understand that. The point is not about fighting or clashing. We both (the films) can easily come on this date because the business will still happen. There are around 5,000 theatres and we both can share it, but at the moment, the stake of their film is much more higher than mine.”

People Have Nothing But Respect For Akshay KumarTwitter

Such big celebrities, and so humble and gracious, it’s very rare to see such selfless acts. Akshay Kumar has once again proved that he’s one of the most genuine guys in the film industry and this generous gesture is just too heart-warming, to be honest.

This deserves every bit of respect, and rightly so. People on Twitter are just as much in awe of Akshay as we are. Even the stars of ‘Padmaavat’ took to Twitter to thank him.

Such a big heart.

‘Padmaavat’ just cannot stop with all the controversies. And all we are wondering is when will it end? Even though the highly anticipated movie finally got a clearance from the censor board recently, it still hasn’t been an easy ride.

There are still a bunch of people who are protesting against it and Sanjay Leela Bhansali is struggling with different aspects of the movie now as well. They are still trying their best to not offend anyone, but everyday some new problem crops up. So many cuts and the change of the name wasn’t enough, everyone just keeps finding new problems.

Deepika Padukone's Midriff Had To Be Covered With CGI

And, the latest one to join the long list of objections about the movie is Deepika Padukone’s midriff.   Basically Deepika’s 3-inch bare mid-riff from the song ‘Ghoomar’ has been edited out using VFX effects, as per the instructions of the CBFC and the protests by Karni Sena. Why? Because showing any kind of skin is ‘unsanskari’, obviously. How can people control themselves after seeing Deepika’s stomach? It would have been just too much to handle.

Thank God they caught it in time, otherwise there would have been chaos in the theatres after seeing Deepika’s midriff. Just look at the unedited version, there’s just so much skin.

Now, look at the new version which is so much better. No skin, nothing to distract people. So what the song had to be edited so much that it is 2 minutes shorter now? It’s very ‘sanskari’ and that’s the main thing.

I honestly can’t believe we live in a country where someone’s midriff is a very important issue, I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry.

Deepika Padukone’s Midriff Covered By CGI Effect In #Padmaavat As Recommended By CBFC. #Padmavati pic.twitter.com/XAIZjoSOwF

— Sir Ravindra Jadeja (@SirJadeja) January 19, 2018

Well, it seems like I’m not alone in this confusion. Here’s what people on Twitter are saying.

Welcome!

So Deepika’s midriff has been digitally covered in the new version of #ghoomar!!!
Welcome to Saudi Arabia !! #Padmavat #Padmavati #KarniSena #Fringe

— Amar Butala (@amarbutala) January 19, 2018

How to make a big issue out of anything.

Watched Ghoomar and honestly can’t understand what’s the fuss about till they had to edit Deepika’s midriff. Of all things to find fault, that slight skin showing got them worked out till the need to edit it? pic.twitter.com/vPmr4v2Mub

— diwaniladki (@diwaniladki) January 20, 2018

Thankfully, it was changed before the release.

happy to announce that Hindu culture has been saved. the video of ‘Ghoomar’ on YouTube has been replaced by one that uses CGI to ‘cover up’ three inches of bare midriff. bee em kay jay. https://t.co/zehHZ1AiBf

— I’m CONCERNED about the environment (@schmaltzdisney) January 19, 2018

Just release the movie, please.

Pretty confident Padmavat will not release on Jan 25. Various chief ministers imposing bans, historical and geographical references muted, vfx to cover Deepika’s midriff, those Karni morons continuing to holler… Shameful, but the idiots are winning.

— Raja Sen (@RajaSen) January 13, 2018

Yes, it’s a personal attack.

This is the right thing to do. Deepika Padukone’s midriff always offends me when I look down at my ownhttps://t.co/i3Uf3uo3BU

— Veena Venugopal (@veenavenugopal) January 13, 2018

When will this end?

They literally covered Deepika’s midriff with the help of CGI effect. Hadh hai matlab !! #padmaavat pic.twitter.com/2qUfSPyIQB

— LOLendra Singh (@LOLendraSingh) January 19, 2018

Well, that’s one way to look at it.

Thank god they covered up Deepika’s midriff. It was giving me a major inferiority complex.

— Shilpa Rathnam (@shilparathnam) January 19, 2018

Same.

OH MY GOD THEY COVERED DEEPIKA’S MIDRIFF I AM SAD BUT THIS IS HILARIOUS MY COUNTRY IS SUCH A JOKE https://t.co/MtZXTJCzUE

Actress Neha Dhupia is the host of ‘BFFs with Vogue’ season 2, which goes on air today on Colors Infinity at 8 pm. After watching glimpses of the show, we just have one word ‘amazing’

Neha Dhupia
Neha Dhupia is all excited for her upcoming talk-show ‘BFFs with Vogue’ to on air today.

Actress Neha Dhupia is the host of ‘BFFs with Vogue’ season 2, which goes on air today on Colors Infinity at 8 pm. After watching glimpses of episode one with the flamboyant filmmaker Karan Johar and his ‘Bff’ Shweta Bachchan Nanda, we can clearly say that with her wit and humour, she has added the sass to this show. She promises one to literally roll on the floor after watching the episodes. From making celebrities like Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone eat red chillies to getting them stripped for not answering her question, Neha is quite a task-master! A master everyone would love to dive deep into her conversations. From hinting at her new business venture, curiosity to know more about Salman Khan and her not-so-spoken love life, the actress pours her heart out in this candid conversation with mid-day online.

Excerpts from the interview:

How do you manage the difficult task of getting the celebrities talk about their personal lives on the show?
I don’t know. I feel that whatever you’re doing when you are in a conversation like we are or anybody else, the first thing is the comfort. The minute you get comfortable, conversations come out. It’s pretty amazing. So, I feel now that after being in the business for so many years I have comfort with a lot of people who were on the show. They’ve all been friends and there were some who I never met in my life before. We had wonderful questions and great conversation. I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I want to say this in complete modesty that I had lots of fun. Now, when you’re having fun, it transcends and the camera picks up from the smallest to the largest emotion and exactly what’s going on in your head and your heart. The camera knows you as well as a parent. I’m hoping that they have kept the best part of the show.

What difference did you feel while talking to guests you already know and the ones who you were meeting for the first time?
I’ll tell you the people I didn’t know at all; there was Juhi Chawla, Anisha Padukone (Deepika Padukone’s sister)and Radhika Apte, who I had met for the first time properly on the show and all three of them were so comfortable and we had lots of fun. You don’t need to hear more than that. It’s not about how eloquent, well-versed or worldly knowledge you have, that’s not what a conversation is, it’s having fun, being comfortable and enjoying yourself.

What makes ‘BFFs with Vogue’ different from other talk shows?
Here, people come up with their Best Friends Forever (BFF), plays a fun game and all our segments are different from other talk shows. I know that there is a direct comparison between m a really big show and I’m not anywhere in the running. I’m a fan of ‘Koffee With Karan’. So, even drawing a comparison for me, I don’t care what happens, I think it’s a compliment for me. I love being in conversations and getting to know people. So, I think my interest towards this concept would make it interesting.

We get to see a new unadulterated Neha nowadays. What is the secret behind this revival?
I’m just being myself and I’ve always been this person. It’s now that the audience has tapped into that side of me. It’s great and I hope it lasts. Some people tell me that you have found your niche and I always turn around and say that I haven’t found my niche, I’m just being myself. The only thing I always wanted to do is films and I want to do that for the rest of my life. This is my personal life doing this show, films are my professional life. I’ve really enjoyed myself and now I’m hoping that people enjoy it too.

What made you take up this show as a host?
It was an offer that was put forward via Viacom. Mr. Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors called me up and asked, ‘Would you like to do this?’ and I said that let me think about it. Then, there was no communication for almost two months and I still remember I was shopping at Sohu in New York and I see Raj Nayak calling. It was somewhere at 1 or 2 o’clock at night and I thought to myself that this is a really odd time to call. He called up and said that I know you are in New York and you are doing this show. That’s it and he hung up the call. When people show so much faith in you, one just has to go ahead and say ‘yes’.

The show will go on air from today but the conversations from it have already made headlines. Do you think that is a drawback?
No headline has ever hurt anyone unless it’s a crime. So, in our business making headline is not a crime. I would say that it’s definitely going to work for the show.

Who do you think were at their candid best on the show?
I think Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Deepika Padukone, Bhumi Pednekar and Alia Bhatt were at their candid best.

And who do you think were politically correct?
Somebody who is politically correct is Katrina Kaif and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Talking about your show’s segment ‘Say it or Strip it’, who did you personally want to see getting stripped and tweaked the questions on the spot to make them difficult?
If Sidharth Malhotra or Varun Dhawan would come up on the show then maybe them but apart from that I had no particular interest in seeing anyone strip. Yes, Katrina, she has abs but she didn’t take her shirt off.

Soha Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Karan Johar are your best pals from Bollywood. Would you want to be with them on the other side of the couch?
I would love to be on the other side with Karan.

And be interviewed by?
By somebody who knows us really well. I wouldn’t mind swapping places with Shweta Bachchan Nanda. She actually has a whole bunch of questions to ask.

An actor’s life you would be interested in knowing about?
I would be interested in knowing more about Salman (Khan). He makes us believe that we know about him but we actually don’t.

Is Neha Dhupia in love?
Not yet. I’m getting there.

Character-based roles are specially written in movies today and you are one of the actors who’s always known for character-based roles. What are the kind of characters you are looking out for?

I’m just looking out for interesting parts. I cannot look around and say that I am looking out for work where I’m going to be a woman where three hunks will be chasing me and it’s not going to happen. I’m pretty certain and that’s where my reality check is. My next film is with Karan Johar, a short film titled, ‘Ice-cream’. I’m also on the verge of signing something about which you’ll get to know by next week. I also have ‘Roadies’ coming up, for which I’ll be travelling to Arunachal Pradesh and living in a tent for a month. Soon after that I come and shoot for my film in February and then shoot for it again in April. My calendar is full till April and after that I don’t know what I am doing. The entrepreneur side in me may shine little bit through in 2018.

Whether you like it or not, you have to agree with the fact that Black Mirror’s portrayal of our unhealthy obsession with technology is absolutely true. And the fact that we are probably heading to a doomed society where technology would entirely take over isn’t exactly the best thing.

However, some of us are living in a hypothetical world where all these ‘Black Mirror’-influenced developments are going to take place in a far-fetched world. We might not even live when they’d occur, right?

WRONG.

We hate to break it to you guys, but some of the show’s predictions are already in motion as you read this article. And if they aren’t 100% ready yet, they are in the works and will become a reality very soon.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

1. Season 1, Episode 3:  The Entire History Of You

This episode is set in a world where people can record every aspect of their lives and can choose to play it back whenever they want.

It isn’t exactly a reality yet but a few firms might soon make it one.

Contact lenses that can record and play back the events we witness are in the works. We can play back the events we’ve lived and also zoom if we wish. Sony, Google and Samsung are all working on projects along these lines.

2. Season 1, Episode 2: 15 Million Merits

It talks about a world where people spend their lives riding bikes to generate energy and in turn, gain credits in order to lead a better life.

This is already happening in Brazil. In prisons, to be precise.

Inmates in Brazil’s Santa Rita do Sapucai prison can shorten their time behind bars by riding stationary bikes that helps in generating energy. Prisoners can knock a day off their sentences for every 16 hours they pedal. The energy they produce by riding the bikes charges batteries that are later taken to the city center in southern Minas, where they are used to power light bulbs.

Although this is nowhere close to the consequences we witnessed in the episode, it is wildly similar to the concept but in a good way.

3. Season 2, Episode 1: Be Right Back

‘Be Right Back’ sees a woman replacing her late boyfriend with a synthetic substitute, using his online history, photos and videos.

In 2010, Hanson Robotics created a social robot BINA48 (Breakthrough Intelligence via Neural Architecture 48). The robot was modeled after Bina Aspen, the wife of Dr. Martine Rothblatt, the transgender futurist CEO of United Therapeutics and used Bina’s memories and feelings.

4. Season 3, Episode 1: Nosedive

This one is probably one of the most interesting ‘Black Mirror’ episodes so far. It showcases a world where people are ranked on the basis of their personality and behaviour. And that rating determines everything that you can or cannot do in your life.

From buying homes to getting flight tickets, everything is based on your rating.

The Chinese government has already started working on this. They are compiling digital records of their citizens and use all that information to assign them their ratings.  You can read more about this here.

5. Season 3, Episode 3: Shut Up And Dance

You probably SHOULD know this already. But in case you have been living in a bubble where you think all your online activity is safe, we have bad news guys.

This episode has a fairly simple but intense storyline. A young boy is caught masturbating by hackers who got access to his laptop’s webcam through a random software. They blackmail him using the same and it obviously turns REALLY ugly in the end.

Here is a fan made video of the same:

Getting access to someone’s laptop and recording everything using their laptop or computer’s webcam has become extremely easy now. Even your mobile isn’t safe anymore. Time and again, leading authorities including the FBI director and Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg have warned people to cover their webcams while they use their systems.

6. Season 3, Episode 6: Hated In The Nation

If you ever thought bees cannot be scary, think again.

The gist of this episode is that mechanical bee prototypes are developed to combat the effects of bees dying. (They are in reality dying because of climatic changes). The government tells the citizens that these bees are mainly developed to pollinate flowers, but that isn’t true. They are also used for mass public surveillance and become the reason behind a number of mysterious deaths. We won’t give away all the details.

But guess what? These bees are now a reality. Well, sort of.

Japan has invented bee-like drones which can pollinate the flowers, thereby ensuring that a drop in the bee population does not affect the eco system. Hmmm, we wonder what further use it can have.

7. Season 4, Episode 3: Crocodile

An investigator uses a device called a ‘Recaller’, which allows the viewer to see memories of a person and is extremely helpful to investigate accidents. Now the ‘recaller’ might not become a reality anytime soon but another major aspect of this episode is already in the works. A self-driving pizza delivery truck is what causes an accident in this episode.

In reality, Pizza Hut and Toyota are collaborating on a self-driving pizza delivery truck. In fact, Toyota would also collaborate with other firms for these cars or trucks that might also function as a mobile store.

Introducing the first Pizza Hut fully autonomous delivery concept vehicle. Excited for our future with @Toyota #CES2018 pic.twitter.com/YGNQUgijha

— Pizza Hut (@pizzahut) January 8, 2018

All of this just proves that ‘Black Mirror’ isn’t that fictititious after all. We are now scared. Very, very scared.

Ajay Devgn’s Marathi venture, ‘Aapla Manus’, starring Nana Patekar, explores the story of a young couple living with the man’s father, juggling the pressures of urban life and managing the complexity of relationships. An unexpected incident forces them to question their beliefs about their life and family. “The support and love I have received over the years has made me always want to give more to my fans. As a producer, ‘Aapla Manus’, is my first attempt to showcase my gratitude to the people of Maharashtra and I hope it will get appreciated by all,” Ajay said in a statement.

The film also marks Viacom18 Motion Pictures’ foray into Marathi films. “We have seen enormous audience growth in the Marathi filmscape in the past few years; not just in terms of box office performance but also in terms of the variety of genres,” Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said in a statement. “‘Aapla Manus’ is a thought-provoking film that will move the viewers and question perspectives. As we embark on this journey together with Ajay Devgn FFilms, Watergate Marathi Motion Pictures, and Shree Gajanan Chitra, we are certain that the movie will stand out from the clutter,” Andhare added.

Earlier this year, during the shoot of the movie, Ajay shared a photograph on Instagram in which his wife and actress Kajol was seen giving the clap on the first day of filming. “Aapla Manus” is slated to release on February 9. In a video shared on Twitter, Devgn says, “My bond with Maharashtra has been strong since birth. I always loved the Marathi language, but after getting married to Kajol, I fell more in love with Marathi culture.

He also talks about completing 25 years in the industry and even after experimenting with films, scripts and roles, his equation with the audience remains unchanged. In 2014, Devgn had presented and distributed Ganesh Kadam’s Marathi film, Vitti Dandu, which was written by Vikas Kadam and starred Dilip Prabhavalkar and Mrunal Thakur.

The news of Padmaavat and Padman averting a box-office clash took everyone by surprise. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus  ‘Padmaavat’ has been caught in political turmoil for quite some time now. Various fringe groups have threatened Bhansali with dire consequences, if he releases the film. The movie was previously supposed to release on December 1, but due to unfavourable political conditions, the movie was delayed by a month and is set to release on January 25. However, Akshay Kumar’s Padman’s date was already locked on January 26, thereby making it a huge clash.

Knowing how big both the films are and how a box-office clash would eat into each other’s moolah at the boz-office, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar held a press conference together. Akshay Kumar said, ” My film was supposed to release on January 25 when Padmaavat is also releasing. Sanjay Leela Bhansali saab requested me today to postpone the release. He has been through a lot. A lot of money is at stake too in this film. Bhansali’s need was more than mine to release on this date. Both the films could have come together on this date. But the stakes of their film are higher than ours. It is essential for them to release the film.”

Padman stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role along with Radhika Apte. Sonam Kapoor has a special appearance in the film.

Despite wrapped under the garb of undying controversies, we are finally inching closer to the release of ‘Padmaavat’, which will now hit the theatres on January 25. And it seems that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is now compensating for the lost time when he couldn’t promote his movie, by bombarding us with back to back promos that are making the wait for this movie harder than ever.

Padmaavat promo 2Viacom 18 Motion Pictures

It was only a few hours ago when we saw the kickass dialogue promo, where Ranveer Singh aka Alauddin Khilji was seen declaring about the Khilji Dynasty’s dream to rule the world. As we speak about Khilji’s challenge, we see Rajput king Maharawal Ratan Singh slowly taking over the frame and giving the most fitting and fearless response to the ‘mad king’ and his army.

Padmaavat promo 2Viacom 18 Motion Pictures

While that was possibly the best 30 seconds of the day; by the looks of these teasers and promos we don’t think this sheer brilliance and our excitement is going to die down anytime soon. As we speak about the valour and courage of Ratan Singh and the Rajput community, who not only challenged Khilji but fought them bravely too; let’s not forget about the fearless goddess Queen Rani Padmavati.

Padmaavat promo 2Viacom 18 Motion Pictures

Despite being targeted numerous times for taking up the role of Rani Padmavati, there are no doubts that this role was probably meant only for Deepika. The conviction with which she plays the strong and fearless queen is remarkable and this promo only proves the same.

The makers of ‘Padmaavat’ have just dropped a major promo that showcases Deepika in all her glory, which gives us an insight into her bravery, courage and royal character. Just like Ranveer owned the previous promo like a true boss, Deepika stole the show with this one.

[Video] The fearless and powerful Rani Padmavati is coming to the big screen in 6 days!!â?¤ï¸?🙌ðŸ?½ðŸ™ŒðŸ?½ Retweet if you love Deepika’s new dialogue trailer #Padmaavat pic.twitter.com/kihX72YRIr

— Deepika Padukone FC (@DeepikaPFC) 19 January 2018

While we were recuperating from this promo and were left gasping for air, ‘Padmaavat’ makers dropped another promo on us that shows the amazing chemistry between Deepika and Shahid. Their first encounter in a jungle and Padmavati saving him, the two are literally setting the frame on fire with all that hotness. Deepika’s fierce and headstrong avatar is what making us drool over her beauty and go weak in our knees.

As we are nearing the release date, fresh controversies are brewing up, but honestly after the release of these promos, the wait for the release has become tougher than ever.

If you call yourself a die-hard fan of Tom Hardy, then you must already know that being an actor was not always his aim. It was to become a successful rapper.

Since his teenage days, Hardy spent a significant amount rapping but he wasn’t exactly what one could call ‘good’ back in the day. But he still likes to drop beats whenever he can, even if it’s with his son.

In an interview with BBC back in 2011, he also revealed that he recorded albums too but unfortunately they never got to see the light of the day. That is until now.

A mixtape with the name ‘Falling On Your Arse In 1999’ was uploaded to Bandcamp earlier this month by DJ Eddie Too Tall aka Ed Tracy. Edward is a BAFTA-winning television writer and director.

If you are wondering who the hell is ‘Tommy No. 1’ in this cover art, then we take pride in telling you that that is our very own Tom Hardy.

A note on the webpage reads: “Made in a bedroom 1999 these mixtapes were never really finished. Lyrics written and performed by Tom Hardy. Music written and produced by Ed Tracy.”

The album consists of 18 typical 90s hip-hop tracks.  And without any further ado, you can and should listen to Tom, in all his glory:

And of course, after this album came to the surface, Twitter could not handle it:

While this mixtape is getting pretty good reviews, we would like to see Tom sticking to acting as of now. Along with that, a little bit of rapping here and there would act as the cherry on top of the cake.
