Bollywood is an interesting industry. Hopes, aspirations, and dreams are galore but very few get a chance to make it big in the tinsel town. 2017 wasn’t a great year for Bollywood but 2018 brings hopes not just in terms of good films but also in the category of fresh faces and new talent.

While a lot has been spoken about Sara Ali Khan, Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor’s debut, very less is known about some talents who are all set to make their big debut this year. These are those who have come a long way on their own without any big name or a godfather to launch them on the silver screen.

This year will be full of raw talents from outside the industry who aim to entertain us and make their space in this big, glamorous town.

Here is a look at the fresh talent who are waiting for their big day. Making it to the list are some model-turned-actors, TV stars and newbies who have landed here out of sheer love for acting and passion.

Mrunal Thakur

Known for her roles in soap operas, Mrunal Thakur will debut in a lead role in Tabrez Noorani and David Womark’s 2018 film ‘Love Sonia’. The film also features Richa Chadda and Freida Pinto in lead roles. That’s quite a combination and a great start we must say!

Banita Sandhu

See you in #October

Varun Dhawan’s ‘October’ is a much talked-about film but it is Banita Sandhu who will be seen along with him. While most people have to wait before they get a huge chance like this, Banita is making her big debut with Shoojit Sircar’s film. The 18-year-old actress is an NRI and has been acting since the age of 11. Before this, she was seen in Doublemint ad commercial.

Well, she made her Bollywood debut with ‘Roar’ but not many know about her. She is an Indo-Canadian dancer and model who will be seen in Sameer Soni’s ‘My Birthday Song’ in a full-fledged role. It is a psychological thriller which features Sanjay Suri as the protagonist and the trailer has received some positive response. We have seen Nora in various special appearances or dance numbers on movies, but seeing her playing a pivotal role would be fun.

Zain Khan Durrani

What should I say? We keep speaking all the time as it is. Now for me to write and fill your mind, when you’re own thoughts are probably stuck, lost, numb or just utterly chaotic… would be exactly the job of a writer. But my mind too has been restless. Full of doubts and chaos and noise. Sometimes just hollow actually. The kind of hollow in the chest that you can’t cry out, or let out, fill up, express or even coat in some tears. No, it stays. Like it’s going to be there for good. I stopped fighting it. Recently. Only recently. When I found out how important this hollow was for me. I shout into it every now and then and the echo reminds me of my existence in a spectacular way. It’s not an adventure out in the woods, but one within me. It’s a gradual, slow and steady acceptance of my demons. Of my flaws and my errors and my misgivings and my innate fallible nature. I will desist from using lofty poetic terms like flight and freedom here because I want to keep it as dark as it is. Its dark, yes but it’s sweet. It’s honey tasted in the dark. I don’t know if that means anything, but I don’t know if this hollow means anything beyond reminding me of the resonance of nothing inside me. As everything lives, nothing too breathes. And it’s illicit. It’s within. It’s here that the birth of you and me occurs. Inside our dark. It’s very kind. Actually. The big abyss. It’s takes you in from one end and let’s you out at the other. Like telling you; it’s not always important to be just feeling and running and chasing and even struggling. Sometimes it’s utterly important to be unimportant. Within yourself. That’s when you start the truest love. That’s not the beginning of life as such. But that’s the hug of that utmost despair and sadness and the warmth under its cheek. And then I begin walking back. The hollow and the sea both inside me. I walk in the middle. The good, the bad and the ugly. Sometimes choosing, sometimes chosen. Mostly, just struggling to remain true. #writer #writing #writer #words #wordporn #love #writeup #shorts #life #philosophy #void #acceptance #mind #aspire #dream #hollow #actor #artist #art #literature #poet #poetry #poem #zkd

Grey-eyed handsome model Zain Khan Durrani will be next seen in an upcoming SaReGaMa production Toodlee films movie ‘Kuch Bheege Alfaaz’. It’s been a while since we saw a new male face, so we are really looking forward to this debut.

Diljit Dosanjh on how being amidst talented musicians while judging Rising Star helped hone his skills despite limited practice

Diljit Dosanjh
Diljit Dosanjh

In a noisy ballroom of a city five-star, I wait for an interaction with Diljit Dosanjh. It has been four years since I interviewed the Punjabi singer-actor, who was then making headlines for his lauded single, Proper Patola. Dosanjh was always a phenomenon in the North, but is also a sought-after name in Bollywood today. But success in the most coveted film industry hasn’t robbed him of his humility. The sense of calm that welcomed me then is intact as he greets me with a Sat Sri Akal.

As we settle for a tete-a-tete, it’s hard to not spare a thought to the shift in demeanour Dosanjh had acquired last year. While judging the music reality show, Rising Star, he was overtly peppy and eccentric. Ahead of the onset of the second season of the live show, he doesn’t dismiss the suggestion that the front he put up was significantly at odds with the man he is. “It’s the demand of the platform. It’s like doing a film. I am required to be peppy, failing which, the show would become dull. I’m a quiet person and not great at expressing myself. But I don’t find it [being enthusiastic on the show] difficult, because acting is my job.”

As he promises to showcase “amazing talent” in the second outing, Dosanjh says his stint as judge on part 1 was also a learning experience. “Singing live is not easy. It’s inspiring to see the participants deliver great acts at the first instance. For films, singers get retakes. They [participants] don’t have that option.” Juggling between the roles of singer and actor in both, Bollywood and Punjabi cinema, Dosanjh found himself pulling strings to accommodate his commitments last year. With little time to work on honing his singing skills, his riyaaz sessions took a hit for three months. It was his role as mentor on the show, his debut reality outing, that enabled him to work on his craft. “By being around great musicians, I managed to centre myself as a singer. The better you hear, the better you will sing. In naye kalaakaron ki sur pe pakad dekh kar mujhe bahut help mili,” he says about the gig, which sees Shankar Mahadevan and Monali Thakur as co-judges.

Last year, Dosanjh was able to sing his way into people’s hearts with Raula from Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017). It was one among a series of songs — Dum Dum from Phillauri, Move Your Lakk from Noor and Sadda Move from Raabta — that fared well on the music charts. Yet, it’s discussion on his track Ishq Di Baziyan from his next, Soorma, which brings a twinkle to his eye. “Gulzar saab has written the song,” he says with childlike enthusiasm. “As a kid, I would enjoy listening to the prologues by Gulzar saab in Jagjit Singh’s ghazals. I would rewind the tape and listen to him repeatedly. He was in the studio when I recorded this number. When I finished, he said, ‘Beta, tumne aaj meri shaam bana di.’ It was a dream come true.”

Dosanjh has at least three Bollywood films in the pipeline. But even with the Hindi ventures mounting, Dosanjh doesn’t intend to pull back on Punjabi projects. “I want to do at least one Punjabi film every year. My next, Sajjan Singh Rangroot, releases on March 23. It’s based on World War I. I am also recording a lot of Punjabi songs. My album releases next month.”

Fire-fighters or war photographers, stuntmen or deep sea divers, there are certain jobs that not only require your heart and soul but also remarkable, unfathomable courage. These professions pay enough to support the family but in turn, may sometimes require the same commitment as that soldier standing on the frontline, looking out for the next bullet which may shred his heart to pieces.

Shah Rukh Khan is the uncontested king of Bollywood and a global superstar, whose charm is not only infectious but extremely hard to resist. On days when Bollywood’s Baadshah is not busy teaching Virat Kohli how to impress Anushka Sharma, or sweeping people off their feet with his amazing movies; SRK ensures that he leaves no stone unturned in bringing about a positive change and doing his bit for the society.

And while our hearts have always beamed with pride for Khan who has always contributed to the society, the World Economic Forum (WEF) too acknowledged the same by rewarding Khan with the 24th Crystal Award yesterday. He received the award for “his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India.”

Honoured to receive the @wef’s 24th Crystal Award, together with @eltonofficial and Cate Blanchett. My fan moment!!

Khan needs no introduction. He is a great actor who has been ruling people’s hearts with his charm, wit and humour. But, not many people know that he is also a philanthropist and founder of the non-profit organization Meer Foundation, which provides support to female victims of acid attacks and major burn injuries through medical treatment, legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support.

Our excitement is already skyrocketing and touching the outer space, because the sky is too small a limit to set for Shah Rukh Khan.

In fact, Khan also created a specialized children’s hospital ward and provided support to the childcare centers with free boarding for children undergoing cancer treatment. WEF awarded Khan for his charitable work for the victims of acid attacks at Davos.

With this award, SRK has joined the league of Cate Blanchett and Sir Elton John, who were honoured for their philanthropy at the Davos platform as well. Blanchett received an award for her work with refugees and Sir Elton John received the award for his campaigning on HIV/AIDS.

What’s more, he thanked WEF for the award and ended his speech with ‘namaskar’ and by saying ‘Jai Hind’.

Be it touching base with the challenges present in the society to ‘fanboying’ over Cate Blanchett and asking for a selfie publicly, SRK proved to the world and the guests present at Davos why people love him so much. In fact, after asking for a selfie, he immediately said that it might leave his children embarrassed and the audience broke into laughter.

He said, “I am genuinely and deeply grateful for this honour. It is indeed a privilege to be in the company of two phenomenal and extraordinary human beings and talent, Cate Blanchett and Sir Elton John.”

While, he floored everyone at the forum and left everyone impressed with his speech; his fans back home were happy and jumping for another reason. His Instagram post where he posed with his signature open arm style.

Shah Rukh Khan shared this picture of Instagram and wrote “Switzerland main aake yeh na kiya toh kya kiya?” and we completely agree with him.

Custom Plugin in PHP

Who does custom plugin development? We do. Do all developers develop custom plugins. No not all. A normal run of the mill WordPress developer for example is not that good at core PHP and would avoid developing custom plugins. Being a company, we have different developers for different tasks and have core PHP developers who are great at developing custom plugins or modifying existing plugins.
