Aamir Khan upset over Newton's selection for Oscars?

It’s obvious that if any jury were to pick only one film as the best in a year – from a choice of over a thousand theatrical releases in India – the rest are going to be annoyed. So it doesn’t surprise us to hear that among those upset with Newton’s nomination as India’s official entry to the Oscars, are the makers of the Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal and Adil Hussain-starrer Mukti Bhawan (produced by the director Shubhashish Bhutiani’s dad, Sanjay).

Given Dangal’s global run, they would’ve obviously hoped for a fine Oscar campaign. Aamir’s Lagaan had been nominated for the Academy Award in 2001. As for Mukti Bhawan, the filmmakers had made a pitch with the Film Federation of India — the producers’ body that decides on the entry. Of course there is no perfect choice, but we feel Newton’s as good as it gets.

Taapsee Pannu opens up on Judwaa 2 scene where Varun Dhawan forcibly kisses her

Only a week after she was criticised for flaunting her chiselled frame in a bikini while promoting the upcoming comedy, Judwaa 2, alongside Varun Dhawan, and Jacqueline Fernandez, Taapsee Pannu finds herself defending her choices yet again. Moviegoers had objected to the actor’s decision to be part of the David Dhawan-directed project, a recreation of his 1997 film that hinged on frivolous romance, especially since she had catapulted to stardom with her empowering acts in Baby (2015), Pink (2016) and more recently, Naam Shabana.

“From ‘no means no’ to Tan Tana Tan, what happened to Taapsee,” a Twitter user had chided. Unflinching, Pannu responds to the criticism with, “I want to do every role. Pink got me noticed, and people started taking me seriously after it. But, I am also proud of this film. If I keep doing similar roles, I will get bored, and the audience will tire of watching me in the same parts. Life is too short. I want to experiment.”

At a time when viewers are becoming increasingly vigilant about the portrayal of non-consensual intimacy in cinema, a scene in Judwaa 2, which sees Dhawan’s character forcibly kissing Pannu, has irked a section of social media.

The actor, however, defends the sequence, citing that people have become “too sensitive”. “Social media users are now waiting for opportunities to pounce on filmmakers. One can understand if the objection is raised for obscenity. But sometimes, people perceive things inaccurately. The scene portrays a reflex action by a character. If it was done intentionally, it would amount to non-consensual intimacy, which is not the case with our scene.”

RJ Akash Banerjee Has A Thing Or Two To Say About The Current Government And It's Hilarious!

Nothing has been a longer wait in this country than ‘acche din’ and even if you have witnessed some ‘acche din’ there will be someone or the other criticising the NDA government, at any given point in time for things they’ve promised and not delivered. This time we have Radio Mirchi RJ Akash Banerjee, ranting for almost ten minutes about the various deliverables that were promised by the government and have been casually forgotten or not talked about again, especially by our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The video of his rant went up live on Twitter yesterday and the Internet is loving the hilarity with which he is using his sarcasm to take pot shots at the present government for failing to live up to their promises.

The video starts with him talking about three major developments that came up in the last 24 hours, like FIRs issued against a 1000 BHU students and the PM not saying a word about it, Farookh Ahmed Dar who has been proven innocent and the Saubhagya scheme which promises to provide electricity to all households by December 2018, free for the poor and at very low cost to others. While taunting PM Modi’s far fetched modus operandi, Banerjee keeps insinuating these plans as being ‘joomlas’ which vaguely translate to empty promises!

He also mocks PM Modi’s other ‘joomlas’ like the scheme of giving INR 15 lakhs to the poor, from the recovered black money or the various Vikas Yojna’s (development schemes), or the increasing petrol prices and of course, demonetisation.

Akash, also talks about how a population of 1.3 billion is suffering from a grave medical condition which affects the eyes and it’s like having motiabind (cataract) but instead of motiabind, it’s actually Modiabind! The puns are a bit hard hitting but maybe that’s his way of reaching out to his listeners and showing them what true democracy actually is, by speaking his mind out. The Modi government, according to him, has been re-packaging their schemes and whatever was promised a year ago, is still in conversation by the government currently; case in point- the Saubhagya Scheme.

In the end, Akash urges the janta to take their Modi glasses off and ask the right questions to the government which should mostly involve the original BJP mandate and the various development schemes that were promised by them. He is definitely not asking the people to not vote for the Modi government in the 2019 general elections but instead is asking his listeners and by listeners we mean the ‘aam janta’ to thoroughly question the government, before bringing them into power again.

The actor’s latest painting — a portrait of a woman – was gifted to Maryam Al Mheiri, who is responsible for positioning UAE’s capital as the hub for media and entertainment.

Raj Babbar walks out of 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3', here's why

The third instalment of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s romantic-thriller, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), will see cast members Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill reprise their respective characters, but Raj Babbar, we hear, will not feature in the film starring Sanjay Dutt.

The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president, who played the role of Birendra Pratap in the film’s second instalment (2013), was detained and taken to police lines on Sunday when his team was trying to reach the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus, amidst the ongoing tension surrounding the case of alleged brutality committed on girl students.

A source from the unit tells mid-day, “[Owing to the detention] Babbar was unable to turn up at the film’s Bikaner set, where shooting has commenced. The unit couldn’t procure his dates, so, the makers decided to replace him with Zakir Hussain.” Producer Rahul Mittra confirms the developments, but claims the decision to replace Babbar had little to do with the current tension in Varanasi. “The decision was taken since we were unable to get Rajji’s dates. As other cast members also have commitments, we decided against stalling the Bikaner shoot,” Mittra says.

Amy Jackson to play Saturn Girl in American TV series

Amy Jackson is set to make her acting debut in the US with the Supergirl series. The British-born actor will make her debut in season three as Imra Ardeen, aka Saturn Girl, a strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need.

The show airs from October 9 and is based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. On the Bollywood front, Jackson will next be seen in the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer 2.0.

Bigg Boss is all set to start its run for its eleventh year and it’s that time of the year for us when our conversations and all our feeds will be hijacked by the feuds and the gossip that will brew inside the house, just like it’s been a staple, you know, that pack of chips that you open and just cannot stop munching? Bigg Boss will take over and how! Some of the most common denominators that all seasons have include numerous arguments, abuses being hurled, people leaving the house , but above all, the plethora of couples and the string of romances we have witnessed in the last ten seasons. 1. Anupama Varma and Aryan Vaid- It was the first season and they were the first ‘it’ couple of the Bigg Boss house. They broke up post the show because it was believed to be a staged romance.

2. Rahul Mahajan, Monica Bedi and Payal Rohatgi- He was the spoilt brat, she was the hot babe offering to make him muesli breakfast every day. He was in an on-off marriage to his now ex-wife, Dimpy. The brat was, however, mad for the gangster girlfriend Monica Bedi.

3. Diana Hayden and Ashutosh – A classic case of two people from two opposite worlds. Nothing official was confirmed, but everyone who watched the show could see how close these two head strong individuals were with each other.

4. Veena Malik and Ashmit Patel- This was probably the first couple who indulged in some major PDA, not to forget the daily massages!

5. Sky and Pooja Bedi- One of the few couples who managed to carry a mature relationship, which extended to the real world as well. Sky even had a tattoo of his lady love’s name but alas, the couple is not together anymore.

6. Gauhar Khan and Kushal Tandon- Two good looking people, lot of sparks, a romance was inevitable. They were together for a long time but eventually broke up, even though they are on good terms.

7. Armaan Kohli and Tanisha Mukerji- They made a boring couple, but they stood by each other during the show.

8. Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna- They made a cute couple, and after Gauhar and Kushal, they were one candy couple for sure.

9. Keith Sequeira and Rochelle Rao- Probably the only couple who met with a happy ending. They were already dating and now they are engaged.

10. Nitibha Kaul and Manveer Gujjar- Nothing was made official but they were like ‘opposites attract’. However, everyone could see the sparks fly.

The line up for the next season is still under the wraps, but obviously there will be more romance in this one as well. Just waiting to see who is going under the radar.

Bigg Boss 11: Salman Khan expects contestants to behave properly

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who is gearing up for the upcoming season of Bigg Boss 11 says he expects all the participants to behave properly.

The movie star, who was present at the launch of the show here on Tuesday, told media: “Well, I want everyone to behave properly. I know it is not easy considering the situation where all the participants are coming from different background and mingling the first time; there are friendship, politics, people deals with the tricky situation. However, they should behave.” “I think many people come to the show for revamping their career and if they are fighting and misbehaving with people, industry professionals will not prefer to work with them,” he added.

Asked about if there is any rule in the game that he feels like changing, he said: “I think the first week of elimination is not right because it takes a little time to settle down and mingle with people. So, whoever gets eliminated on the first week, I think it is unfair. The show lunch took place at a housing complex on the suburban side of the city where Salman entered the stage with a gala performance of his hit songs. The COO of Colors channel Raj Nayak was also present there along with Deepak Dhar of Endemol.

The popular reality show Bigg Boss 11 is starting from October 1, on Colors TV.

'Dangal' actress Zaira Wasim did not use glycerin for emotional scenes in films

Zaira Wasim has become one of the most talked about youngsters in the country. In an exclusive interview to mid-day.com, Zaira admits that never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that she would star in a movie. Zaira says that she owes all the love and adulation she received from the audiences to her first film ‘Dangal’ and also that she never imagined that she would get a chance to star in another film so soon.

“I was never fond of films or watching films. But now that I am into acting, I am enjoying this phase of my life.” Bollywood is also abuzz with news that Zaira Wasim does not use glycerin for her emotional scenes. She says, ” Yes, it is true. I do not use glycerin for emotional scenes in films. When I face the camera, I feel a surge of emotions and all my emotions come rushing out of me.”

The teenager who plays the role of a singer in ‘Secret Superstar’ adds that she considers superstar Aamir Khan as her mentor and that she is always ready to take his advice. Currently, Zaira completed her 10th class studies and plans to study further.
