Spoilers ahead. You have been warned.

‘Deadpool 2’ is one of those movies that is loaded with pop-culture references for both young and old. Some may argue that with so many references crammed into a 2 hour film, it can get a tad bit boring or even irritating. Ignore these idiots. We love when a movie shouts out to another (both good and bad).

There are countless references in this movie and to try and list all of them out here would be painstakingly difficult. So, I’m just going to stick to some of the obscure ones which you surely missed. Here are 9 pop-culture references from ‘Deadpool 2’ you definitely missed:

Barbra Streisand

Okay, starting off with a huge one. Why are there so many ‘Yentl’ references throughout the movie? ‘Papa Can You Hear Me’ is mentioned on multiple occasions and in one scene the movie is playing in the background. That’s all I can remember. But, why? Simple answer: Josh Brolin is Streisand’s step-son. Could it really be that simple? I hope not. Then again, this is Deadpool, so you never know.

John Wick

A subtle reference. In fact, you’d have to be paying close attention to spot this one. It appears in the credit sequence.

‘One of the men who killed John Wick’s dog.’ Missed it? Sit through the movie again and pay close attention during the credits this time.

Cure for blindness

When Deadpool is rummaging under the floorboard for some cocaine you see a small sack labeled, cure for blindness. This might seem like a fun joke considering Al is, you know, blind. But, it’s actually a call back to the first movie when Deadpool tells Al that he’s hidden 1,600 kilos of cocaine and the cure for blindness somewhere in her apartment.

All the X-Men

Yeah, this was one of those blink and you miss it cameos. Deadpool was busy complaining about why none of the popular X-Men are ever in the mansion and he only gets Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead when you cut to a shot of all the X-Men sitting in a room. They close the door on him, of course. That’s Professor X, Quicksilver, Cyclops, Beast, Storm and Nightcrawler who made an appearance in this film apart from the Wolverine.

Essex House

This is the second time the word ‘Essex’ has shown up in the X-Men Universe. You might remember the guy with a suitcase that said Essex Corp. in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’ Here, we get to see Essex House. Now we know for sure that Mr. Sinister exists in this universe. Will we get to see the supervillain in ‘Dark Phoenix?’

Matt Damon

Everyone spotted Brad Pitt as The Vanisher in ‘Deadpool 2.’ Yup, it was a blink and you miss it cameo once again, but that was Brad Pitt’s face you saw for a brief second. But, did you know there was a Matt Damon cameo in the movie too? Yes, this is the second superhero movie Damon has cameoed in after ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’ Where was he? Remember the two rednecks having a chat in the field when Cable arrives in the present day? Yeah, that fat guy was Matt Damon! Woah!

Thanos

We’re all aware that Josh Brolin is playing both Thanos and Cable in Marvel movies. Yes, it’s not the same movie universe but it’s unprecedented for the same actor to play two major characters in different superhero franchises at the same time.

At least I can’t think of anyone else. But in trademark Deadpool fashion, the merc with a mouth calls Cable Thanos at one point. To his face.

X-Force Costume

In the final fight, Deadpool’s costume gets scorched by Firefist. It subsequently has a burnt/black look. No, this isn’t just a cool new look for him. This is a nod to his X-Force costume from the comics.

Everything in the end credits

If you haven’t kept up with superhero movies over the last decade or so, you might not understand what’s going on here. Deadpool gets Cable’s time travel device working again and leaves immediately to fix the timeline. How? First off, he kills the abomination that was Deadpool in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’ Next up, he goes straight for Ryan Reynolds and shoots him in the head right before he’s about to open the script for ‘Green Lantern.’ Yeah, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) just killed himself. Talk about meta!
