Bollywood hunk Sidharth Malhotra is ready to drop his underwear onscreen, but he has his own terms and conditions before going ‘full monty’

Sidharth Malhotra has had a decent run at the box-office this year with his film ‘A Gentleman’ performing moderately well and ‘Ittefaq’ getting critical acclaim and also raking in the moolah. Sidharth, has also signed ‘Aiyaary’ a war-drama to be directed by Neeraj Pandey. Spanning out his career from the time of his debut in ‘Student Of The Year’ in 2012, Sidharth has covered most of the genres in Bollywood. Talking about his film choices in an interview to DNA , he says he is not swayed by box-office numbers. ” I am looking at the bigger picture as opposed to the smaller things. I can’t keep thinking about the box-office business. You can’t live off a big hit for a long time, but if you get appreciation, you get a bigger equity and a better legacy. Yes, of course, there are films that have not done well, but there have been movies that have been appreciated as well. I’m not insecure in that zone because I still have the same confidence with which I came into this industry. I know that I will make it, but there’s time to do that. It will happen over some time. It’s a matter of getting the correct combination. These are times to learn from because an actor learns the most when things don’t go his way. There’s a sense of maturity that comes in and fear goes away. And that will only help me better myself as a performer.”

A few of his films have failed but that doesn’t unnerve him either. “Never! I have made all the choices consciously, and I stand by them. Yes, I learn from them. On the sets, when I see directors change something because of the location or technical matters, then it’s just an experience ki aisa bhi ho sakta hai. That’s the learning, but not a regret ki yaar kyun kiya.I think my choices are inclined more towards content-driven films. I haven’t really done the typical, mainstream films. I have always looked for that one peg in all my films. More than it changing my choices, it changes my performance. What I do with those films and characters is what’s important. Aiyaary is next and it has a talented director like Neeraj Pandey and he likes things very subtle. So, the film is more about the story than just the performances. I have not seen the film yet so I can’t speak for it. Henceforth, like in the Vikram Batra biopic, whatever I do, there will be far more shades to it than what you saw in Ittefaq. Probably, now, I get the push to try things like that better.I have not differentiated between commercial and niche films. Some of my most commercial choices have not worked. Right now, nobody knows what will work. The smaller films are doing well mainly because they are made on tight budgets. They usually turn out to be sleeper hits. That’s far more satisfying than falling into the trap of having a big film, releasing at a period and following a certain graph.

And finally, will he ever be ready to drop his pants for a role? “Of course, I would do it. But only if there’s a reason or logic behind it. I will not drop my underwear unless it’s aesthetic and it’s great to do a character like that (laughs). I won’t go nude just for the heck of it. It’s pointless.”

Sidharth Malhotra’s latest outing, ‘Ittefaq’ banked by major production houses of Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan is performing averagely at the Box office. Though the film, also starring Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna have been critically praised, it is Akshaye Khanna who is sweeping away with the accolades. With a good acting potential to his credit, Sidharth’s position as a bankable star has started to weaken, unlike his peers. Rumour has it that Sidharth Malhotra has lost out on a quirky comedy film by a renowned production house and Ayushmann Khurrana has been roped in. The production house, bankrolling this comedy, has already delivered a sleeper hit with Ayushmann. With hits like ‘Bareilly ki Barfi’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’ to his credit and his spectacular performances in films like ‘Vicky Donor’ amongst others, the star’s demand amongst the producers has increased.

Confirming about the same, a source told Deccan Chronicle, “Sidharth Malhotra’s disastrous run at the box office with Baar Baar Dekho and A Gentleman had put the makers of the film in doubt of his capability to attract audiences. The underwhelming opening and weekend run of Ittefaq was the final nail in the coffin and the team decided to replace Sidharth with Ayushmann Khurrana.”

“Over time Ayushmann has acquired an audience base in the genre of comedy and is currently considered a more bankable star than Sidharth by film producers,” added the source.

However, in his latest interview to mid-day, Sidharth spoke about Akshaye Khanna having a meatier role than him in ‘Ittefaq’. He said, “The length of a role is the least of my concerns when I green-light a script. In Ittefaq, the story is told by Akshaye Khanna, who has a sizeable part in the movie. Since I don’t belong to a film family, I never get into the insecure zone. Personally, I am not the one to eat into someone’s work or role. It’s always better to work with better actors. I am upping my game.”

The actor is proud of his career choices. “For me, stories matter the most. In films like Brothers and Aiyaary, I was clear that I wanted those parts to make my resume stronger,” says Malhotra. He adds that he wants to experiment with different genres. “This is the time to test the waters. I am reacting to stories rather than if I am going to get to hog the limelight.”

On the professional front, Sidharth Malhotra is occupied with Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Aiyaary’ alongside Manoj Bajpayee and South sensation Rakul Preet. Ayushmann, on the other hand, is shooting for Sriram Raghvan’s ‘Shoot the Piano Player’, co-starring Tabu and Radhika Apte.

A good whodunit is all about mystery, suspense and a plot that keeps you hooked to the screen with its intriguing script. There are very few movies in Bollywood that keep you on the edge of your seat and you still can’t guess who the real culprit is. Well, debutant Abhay Chopra’s ‘Ittefaq’ is all about guessing the murderer until the end.

An adaptation of superstar Rajesh Khanna’s original film of the same name from 1969, this one stands up to the mark. And here’s the highlight: despite being inspired by Yash Chopra’s movie, the film has a different storyline.

The first few minutes are enough to set the tone of this film. A rainy night, dark tone, mysterious background score, a wild chase between the police and the suspect and it is clear that it has all the elements of a noir film.

Plot

Dev (Akshay Khanna) is an investigating officer on a double murder case. But this case is twisted, the only witnesses are also the prime suspects in the case. Maya (Sonakshi Sinha) is a homemaker and Vikram Sethi (Sidharth Malhotra) is a famous writer. Both have their own version of that fateful night. Both the stories look very convincing but only one can be true. Now it’s up to Dev to figure out who is the real killer and what happened that night!

It’s difficult to have an opinion for a film like ‘Ittefaq’ without giving away any spoiler (but we swear no spoilers at all!). So here’s all why you should or shouldn’t watch this movie this weekend.

'Ittefaq' Review: Movie Review, Rating And Reasons To Watch This© RedChillies

1. Akshaye Khanna is on top of his game and takes away the entire spotlight. In fact, he is the perfect choice for Dev and no one could have done it better than him.

2. The confusion created via two different narration works totally in favour of the film, as you just want to know who the murderer is.

3. In Dev’s word, there are three sides to this story: “Maya’s, Vikram’s and the truth”. The work of unveiling the truth pulls all your attention and we are SOLD!

4. Every time you have another dice rolling out, you make your own theories only to find you still have a lot to sink in.

5. By the time you are halfway through the film, the suspense reaches its peak and you find it difficult to wrap your head around what to believe and what not to.

6. Having no music, just like the old film, is an interesting choice.

7. There comes a time when you feel you have seen all this before but that’s because of how the story takes time to settle. Dev’s old-style-one liners at times are just unnecessary. The interrogation process gets annoying because of the way it flows.

8. But all of this doesn’t take away the fact that director Abhay Chopra has dealt with this genre with an ease. Keeping the murder discussion light, he makes you believe in both the versions of the story, even though you know there is just one truth. That’s an exceptional job by the director we must say.

9. Sonakshi and Sidharth have played their roles well but Akshaye Khanna’s stellar performance is all we can think of. We want to see him more in films; he is the real star of ‘Ittefaq’!

10. The real hero is the surprise revelation in the end.

Ittefaq is a gripping Bollywood film, which engulfs you completely leaving you at the edge of the seat.

It’s Bollywood’s superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s 52nd birthday on November 2 and the entire fraternity has assembled at Shah Rukh’s Alibag farmhouse to bring in his special day.

While, earlier in the day wife Gauri Khan and daughter Suhana Khan sailed through the sea with friends like Shweta Bachchan, Sussanne Khan, Ananya Pandey and others to Alibag, Shah Rukh’s close friends Farah Khan flew to his bungalow in Karan Johar’s chopper. Also, accompanying them were Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. Farah shared a group image of the stars from Shah Rukh’s Alibag bungalow and wrote, “All set for birthday boy @iamsrk .. trust the actors to start posingð???#Alibag”.

Well, it’s interesting to see Alia and Sidharth reunite for Shah Rukh’s birthday bash. Rumours about their break-up and patch-up keep emerging but the truth is better known by them. Recently, at a promotional event of Sidharth’s upcoming film ‘Ittefaq’, Sidharth was questioned whether he is single, to which the actor said that he is ‘very much single’. Later, Karan Johar started teasing his student asking him whether he was really single. Katrina Kaif, who was once linked romantically with Sidharth Malhotra is also present there. ‘Ittefaq’ is banked by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar’s Red Chillies and Dharma Productions respectively.

Sidharth Malhotra is said to have cited date issues as the reason he could not commit to Race 3. Bobby Deol was instead roped in for the Salman Khan-starrer. Buzz is Sid did not want to be cast opposite Daisy Shah in the thriller. He is keen to be paired with the leading ladies of B-Town and the Jai Ho (2014) actor does not fit in his scheme of things. Hope Sallu is aware of the real grouse.

Well, I think we all will have to scratch our brains to remember when was the last time we saw Aamir Khan attend an award show, that too, in public glare.

Yes, it happened! On Friday evening, the ‘Dangal’ star attended GQ Men Awards and was seen mingling with the energetic and charismatic Ranveer  Singh.

Dressed in tuxedos and suits, the men looked dapper.

Known for his crazy antics, Ranveer got the otherwise silent Aamir to be a part of his antics.

Ranveer clicked selfies with the ‘perfectionist’, while the latter flaunted his pierced nose, for which he endured so much pain.

At the award show, Aamir was bestowed with the award of ‘Creative Maverick,’ while Ranveer walked with the title of ‘Entertainer of The Year.’

Overwhelmed with joy, in one of the frame Ranveer was seen planting a kiss on Aamir’s face.

Others, who walked with various other titles, were Anushka Sharma (Woman of The Year), Rajkummar Rao (Actor of The Year), Konkona Sensharma (Excellence in Direction and Acting), Rahul Bose (Agent of Social Change), Sridevi (Excellence in Acting), Karan Johar (Producer of the Year), Irrfan Khan (Outstanding Achievement), and Sidharth Malhotra (Most Stylish Man).

While receiving the award, Ranveer congratulated Sidharth Malhotra for receiving the ‘Most Stylish’ trophy and gave a heartfelt speech.

He said, “If there is one thing that I can actually do decently well, is entertain. I like making people happy and putting a smile on their face. I feel like being an entertainer is my calling. And winning this award in front of Aamir Khan, my original idol and one of the main reasons why I wanted to become an entertainer, is such a huge honor for me.”

Well, their camaraderie was bang on, and it’s a rare sight to see a senior actor and actors from the current generation bond so well.

Can we see them in a movie together?

Sidharth MalhotraSidharth Malhotra

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra may have just completed five years in the industry but he has achieved stardom in a very short span of time with a huge youth fan following.

Despite having good run-rate at Bollywood, Sidharth has not forgotten his old days. He still remembers the first time how he spent his first paycheck.

Sidharth reveals that when he signed his debut movie ‘Student of the Year’, he had received Rs 1 lakh from Dharma Productions. He said, “I had not told my friends that I have signed a movie and that too under Dharma Productions banner. My friends and I had gone to Pune to meet another friend who stays there. One evening, when I told them about my debut film, they were shocked. They asked me to treat them and we ended up getting a bill of Rs 50, 000. I told them that half the salary of my first paycheck has already blown up.”

He added, “Before signing my first film, I used to work as an assistant editor and used to get Rs 18,000 as salary but I never received such an amount when I was modelling. Spending such a big amount for my big break is definitely justified.”

Sidharth said that all his friends are still very close to him.

He will be next seen in ‘A Gentleman’.

Produced by Fox Star Studios, ‘A Gentleman’ is directed by directors Raj & D.K and is all set to release on August 25th, 2017.

sidharth-jacqueline-gentlemanThe team behind “A Gentleman” has denied that the censor board demanded a long kissing scene in the movie to be cut short.

At a song launch event here on Wednesday, lead actor Sidharth Malhotra and co-director Raj Nidimoru clarified: “The kissing scene is there. It has not been cut.” Sidharth features in the movie with Jacqueline Fernandez.

Raj added: “I don’t know what is the big deal about the kissing scene. But the fact is that it is not cut from the film. Most of that reports aren’t right. When you see the film, you will see it.”

Directed by Raj and D.K., the film features Sidharth in a double role.

Asked if he would like to work more in the action genre, Sidharth said: “I love the action genre. As someone who loves watching action, I can’t believe I am a part of it now. So I am really excited about a film that will entertain people with action, give them a two-hour masala picture and still look extremely cool.

“After a long time we will see an entertaining action film which has a lot of comedy in it, thanks to Raj and D.K.”

The team got together to launch a new song “Bandook Meri Laila”. The film will release next week.

Well, 11th August 2017 was a day that gave many Bollywood makers the relief they have been looking for. After all, finally the reign of sanskari CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani came to an end. The way, makers, and creatives were upset with his way of working is not an unknown fact.

In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the man has literally treated CBFC like his own territory and demanded irrational cuts based on his so-called ethics and morals. Even though Bollywood was liberated from his terror, the man did manage to use scissors one last time on none other than Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez’s film, ‘A Gentleman’.

As per media reports, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez’s long smooch has been cut from the film, because of course, our ex-CBFC chief doesn’t approve of lovers kissing each other on screen.

Apparently, the CBFC asked the co-directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru to reduce the kiss timing. “The lead pair’s kiss just went on and on unnecessarily, just like the smooch in the James Bond film and Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. We’ve asked them to take it easy. The film is titled A Gentleman, but the hero seems to forget his manners while kissing,” revealed a source to a leading daily.

So as per our understanding, what Mr. Nihalani means to say is that a gentleman can’t kiss his beau for a long time. Just wondering: how you kiss someone decides whether you are a gentleman or not? Haha!

Back to the film, the viewers are already excited to watch the two sizzle the screen once again. ‘A Gentleman’ is slated to release on August 25, 2017.

One of the most hyped tunes from ‘A Gentleman’, namely ‘Chandralekha’, is finally out and you can’t help but to groove to this number. This is the same song, whose teaser was enough to make us go gaga over the incredibly pretty Jacqueline Fernandez.

The gorgeous diva’s sexy moves will definitely raise the temperature, while Sidharth Malhotra’s fabulous dance moves will make you want to slip on your dancing shoes.

One look at this song and you’ll be wishing that your office parties were this cool.

Jacqueline Fernandez's Sexy Pole Dance In ‘A Gentleman'© A Gentleman

While the name of the song sounds pretty serious……the actual tune is fun, peppy and groovy. No doubt Sidharth Malhotra is killing it in the song, but it is Jacqueline who makes our heart race faster.

Looking at this song, we’re totally envious; after all, which office party is this hot! From hot and sexy people to a scintillating pole dance…….where do such parties take place? These two dancing together is the best thing we will see today. Pole dance or not, ‘Chandralekha’ is absolutely the party song of the year.

Watch out this hot and happening video below:

The film is slated to be released on August 25th, 2017.
