While Padmavati has been in the news ever since its announcement , major headlines were made when Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced Shahid Kapoor as the hero of the film opposite Deepika Padukone.

The star will essay the role of Deepika Padukone’s husband, Raja Ratan Singh, a just ruler and a warrior who gave his all to the battlefield. Shahid, who trained with a language coach before and during the shoot of the film , to get the finer nuances of the language and accent right ,will now have his coach accompany him to the Padmavati dub as well.

Says a source, “Shahid’s prep for Padmavati included training under a language coach ,since certain dialogues in the film were typical of that period. His coach will also be with him while he’s dubbing for the film so that he aces the accent and sounds authentic. Shahid’s role in Padmavati promises to be his career’s finest . He is going all out for the film, as he essays the role of the hero and has been looking into the minutest details with complete attention and dedication.”

The first look of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period drama ‘Padmavati’, co-starring Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, is out!

Deepika Padukone looks majestic in her ‘goddess queen’ avatar. She can be seen sporting a unibrow. The heavy jewellery adds to her royal look.

On Wednesday, the actress had shared a logo of ‘Padmavati’ — thereby starting the promotions of the film, which was mired in controversy during its shoot over its subject.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali — known for his grand period dramas — ‘Padmavati‘ also features Ranveer Singhand Shahid Kapoor.

‘Padmavati’ tells the story of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi ruler who fell in love with Rajput queen Padmavati.

The movie’s shoot went through a lot of hurdles.

In January, activists of outfit Shri Rajput Karni Sena had assaulted Bhansali and vandalised the movie’s Jaipur set over alleged distortions in the film’s script.

Later, once the filmmaker had moved the film’s shoot to Maharashtra, an outdoor set of the historic period drama in Kohlapur was reduced to ashes after two dozen unidentified persons torched it in March.

Ending rumours of the film’s release being pushed to next year, the makers have announced that ‘Padmavati’ will hit the screens on December 1, 2017.

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had reportedly agreed to work with her ex-boyfriend and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ which now stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali apparently wrote ‘Padmavati’ script keeping Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in mind. But just like ‘Bajirao Mastani’, he couldn’t make it work as the two had an ugly break-up.

Now, according to Rajeev Masand’s column in Open Magazine, SLB had approached Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan for ‘Padmavati’ after they parted ways. According to the report, Aishwarya had almost agreed to work with Salman, but on one condition.

The twist was she was ready to work with Salman Khan only if he played the role of Alauddin Khilji, the antagonist in the film. This way, they wouldn’t share any scenes together.

The report stated that Salman Khan refused to agree to this condition. Salman Khan was interested to recreate the magic of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But he wasn’t keen on doing ‘Padmavati‘ without having any scene with Ash.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has now cast Deepika Padukone as Padmavati, her rumoured boyfriend Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Deepika’s husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh.

‘Padmavati’ is slated to release on November 11 this year.

Though ‘Padmavati’ is on the brink of completion, buzz from the production house is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has requested investors to delay the film’s release by six months.

It is being said that the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor-starrer has been shot in a hurry because of which the edit will be a long, strenuous one.

The producers are adamant that the film releases on November 17 as scheduled. As it is an expensive film, a long wait will entail extra expenditure making it difficult for the project to recover cost. Now if only Bhansali relents.

Shahid Kapoor has not signed any movie after ‘Padmavati’, which is currently being filmed, and the actor says he isn’t worried about not being seen onscreen.

“I have not signed anything after ‘Padmavati’ and it isn’t a thing to worry about. You should only worry when you are not doing a good film,” Shahid told PTI. “It’s ok to wait and do good movies. I want to be associated with films that have good content and are
entertaining at the same time,” he says.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama ‘Padmavati’ also features Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. “I am not supposed to talk much about the film. All I can say is it’s an amazing cast and it is going to be a spectacular visual experience. I am having an amazing time on it. Wait for it, it’s coming in November.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali seems to be impressed with Shahid and apparently he has cast him in his next ‘Tuesdays and Fridays’, a light-
hearted romantic comedy. “I read about it. But I haven’t signed anything after ‘Padmavati’. So wait for an (official) announcement.”

Shahid’s last film was Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Rangoon’ that did not do well at the box office. The actor says he is disheartened with the response to the film but at the same time is hopeful to bounce back with his frequent collaborator Bhardwaj. “When a film doesn’t do the kind of business or get the appreciation it should get, it’s heartbreaking. I was fortunate that people liked me in ‘Rangoon’… Regardless of anything people have liked my work in his films”. “I was happy I got recognised. But I am sure when we work
together again we will do something great,” he says.

Set against the backdrop of World War II, the film also starred Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan in the lead.

Deepika Padukone getting a whopping Rs 12 crore as remuneration for Padmavati

Deepika-Padukone-If sources are to be believed then Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is getting a whopping Rs 12 crore as remuneration for her upcoming film ‘Padmavati’. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali the film also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles.

Deepika Padukone has apparently devoted an entire year for the period drama ‘Padmavati’, in which she is essaying the titular Rajput queen. Sources say this could possibly justify her astrnomical salary demand.

Deepika Padukone has ranked 10 in world’s 10 highest paid actresses’ list alongside Hollywood heavyweights Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts and ‘Friends’ star Jennifer Aniston. Deepika became the only Indian actress and the sole newcomer in Forbes’ 2016 list of the ‘World’s Highest-Paid Actresses.’

According to India Today, when Deepika was recently approached for a film featuring one of the Khans, she quoted the same sum as ‘Padmavati’ as her asking price. The producers were taken aback at this, since it’s a two-heroine film and the other actress, would also have a list of her own demands. But, sources say Deepika remaind adamant.

Deepika Padukone has been a part of recent box-offices successes like ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Piku’.

Deepika Padukone is also set to feature in the fourth outing of the ‘xXx’ franchise. Deepika made her Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in ‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage’ that released in January this year.

‘Padmavati’ starring Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is set to release on November 17.

Deepika Padukone ‘steals’ from director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s tiffin on the set of Padmavati. The actress took to social media yesterday and wrote, “Stealing SLB’s nashta while he’s busy directing Padmapati.”

Has the film’s title changed or is it just a typo error while Dippy was devouring SLB’s dabba? Co-star Shahid Kapoor would prefer this title though.

Shahid Kapoor forced to shun Juhu home, moves into Goregaon five-star hotel

Shahid-Kapoor-aaA hectic shooting schedule for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama-Padmavati, coupled with Mumbai’s testing traffic, has compelled Juhu boy Shahid Kapoor to shift base to a popular Goregaon five-star in a bid to minimise the time spent on commute.

Shahid has taken a cue from his co-actors, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, and moved closer to the Film City set to successfully negotiate his acting commitments and fitness routine.

A source tells mid-day, “Shahid would spend four hours travelling. He moved into a Goregaon hotel for the previous schedule, given that it is closer to Film City. He would start shooting early in the morning and continue working till the wee hours of the next day. Since he needed to sport two distinct looks for the film, working out was crucial. Shahid will stay there for a few weeks.”

The father misses spending time with his daughter Misha. A unit hand informs, “One day, after an early pack up, Shahid’s wife Mira, and Misha, came to visit him. Along with Ranveer, Deepika, and other key cast members, the trio had a small gathering at the hotel.”

Given that Shahid Kapoor continues to interact with ‘Padmavati’ co-star Ranveer Singh, can rumours about an apparent rift be put to rest? “They are competing, but it’s a constructive and healthy competition. They both have well chalked out roles and scenes. The rumours are bogus. Off set, they are quite warm with each other,” the source says.

In order to reside closer to the Film City set while filming Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani (2015), Ranveer had first moved into a five-star, and then purchased an apartment in the vicinity. His rumoured flame Deepika Padukone is also put up nearby. She spends her time in a five-star, or at Ranveer’s residence.
