In a bid to return the favour to Salman Khan for sharing a Creed II clip, superstar Sylvester Stallone wished him luck for Race 3. However, he mistook Bobby Deol for Salman and shared Deol’s photo instead of Salman

Salman Khan is on an overdrive promoting Race 3 on social media. Yesterday, he took Twitterati by surprise by posting a video of Sylvester Stallone talking about Creed II. He wrote, “While I introduce the Race 3 family this week, this is something all of you should know (sic).” Sallu is said to be a fan of Sly. Some online fans wondered if the Hollywood star is a part of Race 3.

Touched by Salman Khan‘s gesture, Stallone wanted to do something sweet in return, which rather turned out unexpectedly. The Hollywood superstar shared Bobby Deol’s photo and addressed him as Salman Khan while he wished him luck for Race 3. This is what he wrote, “The very best wishes to very talented film hero SALMAN KHAN For his next film RACE 3 (sic).” He even tagged the Race 3 actor. Well, it might also be that the Rambo actor wanted to wish the entire cast of Race 3 and therefore shared Bobby Deol’s picture, who is also a part of the franchise.

However, this confusion by the Rambo actor did not go well with Salman Khan’s fans. Some were courteous enough to point out, what they thought was a “mistake”. Some were in no mood to forgive this “confusion”.

A user commented, “This is not not salman khan’s pic u r just confused by the same sun glasses (sic),” another wrote, “Well maybe Stallone is ashamed of writing bobby deol (sic).” “There is a chance that he is trolling Salman Khan,” said another user.

However, there some who let go it and said, “big deal if he posted bobby’s pic..Isnt he a part of #Race3 as well…!!! (sic)” another wrote, “No issues if the poster you posted is of another co actor..we got what u wanna say sir. Love (sic).”

According to reports, Priyanka Chopra will make star alongside Salman Khan in Ali Abbas Zafar directorial, Bharat

Ever since, Priyanka Chopra made it official that a Bollywood film is “happening” through an informal video chat with Ranveer Singh, speculations about her ‘comeback’ films have refused to rest. However, a report in Dna claims that it is Tiger Zinda Hai director, Ali Abbas Zafar’s film, Bharat, that will reunite the pair of Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

Bharat is produced by Salman Khan‘s brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri. If this works out, it will mark the reunion of Salman and Priyanka after a huge gap of 10 years.

Salman and Priyanka Chopra were cast opposite each other for the first time in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004). Since then, they have also worked in Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love (2007) and God Tussi Great Ho (2008).

“Priyanka has also worked with Ali in Gunday (2014) and shares a good rapport with him. This film will see the three of them collaborate for the first time,” informed the source to the daily, stating that desi girl shares a good rapport with Ali Abbas Zafar.

The publication also suggests that recently, Ali met Priyanka in New York where she was shooting for the next season of her international TV series Quantico. Bharat is expected to roll out mid-2018. The source further informed, “The fact that their Jodi is coming together after such a long time will surely be exciting news for their fans.”

There was also news of Priyanka Chopra doing astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic alongside Aamir Khan, and both their fans were excited to see this first-time pair. However, Aamir opted out of the film and Shah Rukh Khan replaced him.

When the Baywatch actress was asked about it at one of the award shows, this is what she said, “I have finalised two-three scripts. Now, I am left to make announcements. Rakesh Sharma biopic was one of those scripts. I was approached for that film when Aamir was doing it… He is not in the film now. We were supposed to do it in 2019. Now, I don’t know.”

Ali Abbas Zafar believes working with Salman has added maturity to his craft as a filmmaker

Ali Abbas Zafar and Salman Khan
Ali Abbas Zafar and Salman Khan

Coming off from two back-to-back successes, Ali Abbas Zafar is nervous about the expectations surrounding “Bharat”, his third collaboration with Salman Khan. The director says it is natural for people to expect him and Salman to strike gold after two superhits — Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai — together. “With ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘Sultan’ behind me, I’m more nervous for my next one because I know the expectations and anticipations will be really, really high,” Ali told PTI. The human-drama is a remake of the 2014 South Korean film “Ode To My Father”.

“It is a very different film from ‘Tiger’ and ‘Sultan’. We are trying to do something new with it. It’s too early to talk about it,” he said when prodded about “Bharat”. Ali believes working with Salman has added maturity to his craft as a filmmaker. “People tell me there’s a lot of maturity in my work now. May be that maturity has got to do because I’m working with Salman Khan who has so much experience. “The text that I write kind of compliments (him) and he as a mature actor takes it to another level.”

While today he and the superstar stand as one of the most formidable director-actor duos in Bollywood, Zafar’s first meeting with Salman – some seven-eight years ago – was about everything else but work. “My first ever meeting with him was through Katrina (Kaif). She was there in my first film (‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) and we went to his house, somewhere in 2010-2011.

“We just had a very normal, regular conversation. At that point of time I had no idea I am going to make films with him. “He was a huge star and I was just starting my career. We had a nice chat about life and world but not about cinema. He asked me where do I come from, what I want to do.” Talking ahead of the world television premiere of “Tiger Zinda Hai”, scheduled for March 18 on Sony Max, Zafar feels “liberated and uplifted” after the film became a blockbuster.

“Success pushes me to work even more hard. Everything now will create more anticipation, we will have to pull our socks up and work harder to meet those expectations. “But when a film releases and you detach yourself from it, you can see the film more analytically and understand what worked and what didn’t. That is a big learning exercise which always happen when you watch the film three-four months after its release.”

In a tell-all conversation with mid-day online, actor Pulkit Samrat talks about his film newly released Veerey Ki Wedding, personal life, the concept of marriage and many other things in a candid chat

Pulkit Samrat

Actor Pulkit Samrat recently wooed people’s hearts with his amazing comic timing, acting chops and his romantic avatar in Fukrey Returns. The handsome hunk yet another laughter riot, Veerey Ki Wedding with Kriti Kharbanda and Jimmy Sheirgill released last week. Giving some insights into the film and how his personal life grabs more space in the news than his work, and also about always being compared with Salman Khan, the 34-year old bares it all in this candid interview with mid-day online.

Was it difficult to play Veer’s character or you just have that Romeo in you and it translates onscreen?
Yeah, the ‘chichora’ part was really fun and the chemistry shared between Geet (Kriti Kharbanda’s character) and Veer is very volatile. Geet is a very strong headed girl and also has a mind of her own and Veer on the other hand is also a very talkative boy. He helps a lot of people by hook or by crook, but mostly by crook. So, when such chemistry is there, it’s kind of nice to play it on screen. This was for the first time that I am working with Kriti and it was a fabulous experience. She is very natural on camera and when you get to work with an actor of that calibre it becomes very easy for you. The give and take in terms of acting becomes interesting.

Was it difficult to break the ice with Kriti?
Not at all. Both of us connected on the Delhi factor because even she hails from the capital. I didn’t know this until I saw her having food. I thought to myself, “Yeh toh dilli vaalon ki tarah khaati hai yaar.” (She eats like a Delhiate) and then she said yes that she was born in Delhi. And we got it all out in our characters in this film.

Now that we are talking about a wedding film, do you personally believe in the concept of marriage?
I don’t believe in the concept of marriage. It is just for the society – a legal certificate to show the society. Love is the base of every marriage and I believe in the concept of love, yes, if there’s love that escalates to the wedding then it’s a different thing. Going ahead if I fall in love then let’s see how it goes ahead.

You’ve played romantic heroes and done comedy capers, aren’t you afraid of being typecast?
No… I’ve done Fukrey which is a slapstick comedy and a rom-com. I’ve done Sanam Re. So, I think I’ve been doing different kinds of roles, so there’s no fear of being typecast.

Do you think romancing onscreen is easier than off-screen?
Romancing is extremely difficult on screen because you are surrounded by so many people, a camera zooming onto you. And the smell of cow dung, mosquitoes on the sets, it gets very difficult to get the romantic expressions. But at the end, it’s because of these things that it translates beautifully on screen.

A lot has been said and written about your personal life, does it affect you?
Yeah, it does but you know workplace is the best place to divert your mind. It’s a different world altogether. Where you are enjoying your craft and are away from all the hustle and bustle.

You’ve got a good physique and people see the younger version of Salman Khan in you, so what kind of equation do you really share with him?
The phenomenon of comparing has always been there. He’s a good human being and people love him. Although I love him and he loves me too, I want to create a mark of my won and wouldn’t want to get my personality and talent to get overshadowed.

Your views on celebrating Women’s Day.
I hate this gender discrimination. Why a day to celebrate them… We should always celebrate it… They are a creation which is very unique. Why one day for men and women day? But, it’s good that people are changing their mentality and have gone ahead. It’s commendable to see slight changes.

salman_ranveerDecember 2018 already seems to be jam-packed with many big ticket films vying for a release. Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Zero’ is already slated for a Christmas release and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’ is also not far behind. Now, it looks like another big film has joined the list which might lead to a major box office clash.

According to reports, Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg 3’ might clash with Ranveer’s cop film ‘Simmba’. Salman has reportedly said that he would not like his film to be released on Christmas as he would not like to clash with SRK’s film. So if his film is pushed back by a week, then it will clash head-on with ‘Simmba’. Meanwhile, there are apprehensions that since both ‘Dabangg 3’ and ‘Simmba’ are cop films, it might become an overdose for the audience.

However, filmmaker Rohit Shetty who is helming the Ranveer Singh starrer is confident that such confusion would take place as both films are quite different. Meanwhile, Arbaaz Khan who is bankrolling ‘Dabangg 3’ is mum about its release date and has said that it would be revealed by April.

He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes

Salman Khan

He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes. The 52-year-old actor believes there have been breaking points in his life, but the nature of his job does not allow him to share his vulnerable side with the world.

“My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up, do stylised action sequences and romance. Articles come on my affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… People see me on ‘Bigg Boss’ in which I am laughing and joking. “So, people think I don’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or in your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through,” Salman said at the Global TiE Summit.

The actor said being a star has a lot repercussions as he does not have the “luxury of being depressed or sad”. “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said. Recalling his initial days in the film industry, Salman revealed his aim as a new actor was to give an equally bigger hit as Aamir Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

“The journey I began with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, not knowing if I would make it, and that time it was difficult because there was another actor, who had started his career and he had given a big hit. That kid’s name was Aamir Khan. “He was from the same locality. I thought that he made it and if I didn’t make it, the whole Bandra will start laughing at me. So, my concern was only Bandra- Pali Hill and the friends’ circle, which just had four-five people,” Salman said.

SalmanBollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is busy shooting for his upcoming film Race 3, says he cant afford the luxury of being depressed or emotional. Apart from giving a number of blockbusters, Salman is also known for launching new faces in the film industry and doing charity work through his ‘Being Human Foundation’.

What makes him so selfless and keeps him going? “When I was 15-16 (years old), I started partying and stuff like that because that’s the age when everyone parties. When I was in college, I used to assist in films and then I started working as a model too,” Salman said at the TiE Global Summit (TGS) 2018 on Thursday.

Going down memory lane, he said, “One day, Mr. Kailash Surendranath (advertising filmmaker) made me face the camera for the first time. It was for his Campa Cola advertisement, so, he used to take me out for parties. One day, he kept his arm around me and said ‘Salman, I don’t think you should waste your time by spending your father’s money’. Though he said that jokingly, I didn’t take that as a joke. Straight after that, I started working and till today, I don’t take holidays.”

If he is not doing films or not feeling well then also he keeps himself busy. “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said.

The Tiger Zinda Hai star said an actor’s life does not have any “sub-titles” to show what he is going through at any stage of his life. “My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up well, do stylised action sequences and romance. My articles come on affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… people see me on Bigg Boss in which I am laughing and joking,” said the reality show’s host.

“So, people think that he doesn’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through, you have to forget that and you have to focus on your craft,” he added.
