Actor Ranbir Kapoor has said the notion of masculinity has to be changed to empower women. Ranbir said this on Thursday while interacting with the media along with Deepika Padukone, Shabana Azmi, and Manish Malhotra. Ranbir and Deepika walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra, in an event organised by Shabana Azmi’s Mijwan Welfare Society.

On asking his idea of empowering the women of the country and securing equal rights for them, Ranbir said: “I think firstly, we have to change the notion of masculinity.” “I think the idea which we have in our mind about masculinity… if we could change the feeling of entitlement then that’s the big thing,” he said.

“Once we do that, we should provide a platform to encourage citizen of our country, especially to girls and the women. It will then be a great start and I think Mijwan Welfare Society is just about that,” Ranbir added.

Speaking on his experience of walking the ramp with his co-actor and ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone after so long, Ranbir said: “I think the biggest thing is we have come together to walk for Mijwan Welfare Society. That is the bigger picture here so it’s always wonderful to walk for Manish with Deepika and for Shabana aunty and everybody concerned with Mijwan Welfare Society.”

When Deepika was asked regarding her experience of walking the ramp with Ranbir, she said: “It’s very exciting. This is for the first time I am walking the ramp for the Mijwan fashion show. I started off my career as a model. I walked the ramp many times but this was special. It felt genuine, real and connected.”

“I feel everyone behind the scenes has worked really hard in doing what they do. Not just putting the show together but you can see the work, effort, and craftsmanship,” said Deepika. The “Padmaavat” actress also said it gives her real joy to see the Mijwan group doing so much to empower women and children.

“I think most importantly, the fact that they have empowered so many women and children give me so much joy and it’s inspiring to see the work they do,” added Deepika. Ranbir will be seen next in the biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt titled “Sanju”, directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, and in “Brahmastra” which is directed by Ayan Mukherji.

On Thursday, the magical pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, together, graced the ramp for Mijwan – a social cause organised by Shabana Azmi. The two were a sight to behold in their traditional outfits, designed by renowned celebrity designer Manish Malhotra. In a black kurta with white flower embroidery, paired with a pant and brown shoes, Ranbir Kapoor looked every bit regal. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone looked ethereal in a white chikankari worked lehenga with a long heavy sequenced trail behind.

The magical reunion of former lovers, Ranbir and Deepika as showstoppers was definitely a sight to watch out for their fans and the spectators around. It got them all excited, and their fan clubs flooded social media with the Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani couple walking the ramp together at this annual charity fashion event. While Ranbir Kapoor has been the Goodwill Ambassador for Mijwan since past many years, it was Deepika Padukone‘s debut at the do.

The Walk Of Mijwan is an annual fundraiser fashion show hosted by the Mijwan Welfare Society. The movement was started by Late Kaifi Azmi in 1993. Noted Urdu poet-writer, Azmi founded the organisation with the goal of making Mijwan a scalable and replicable model of development with a focus on the girl child and women.

Talking about women empowerment at the event, Ranbir Kapoor said, “My mother always taught me that a man is as good as the respect he shows a woman. A man is as good as the space he gives his wife, daughter, sister, mother, to be whoever she wants to be. I am genuinely trying to be that man.”

Some of the names that attended the highly coveted show included veteran stars Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, Neetu Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Huma Qureshi, Sonakshi Sinha, Nandita Das, Sooraj Pancholi, Kriti Kharbanda, Saqib Saleem amongst others. Prominent television faces like Mouni Roy, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Karan Tacker were also present at the fashion show.

golmaal-again-4 The fourth franchise of Golmaal that began assaulting our senses in 2006, is essentially a horror-comedy that sees the reunion of the solid five (Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu), with new entries Tabu and Parineeti Chopra all coming together with one common agenda – to entertain (and make money)! Like every other film from the series, Golmaal Again holds on strongly to its template. Two gangs pitted against one another who eventually come together for the greater common good aka fighting the bad boys. In this case, the baddies are the charming Neil Nitin Mukesh and villain pro Prakash Raj.

Kashmir, a land of serenity, is perceived to be a slice of heaven on Earth. The sad reality of inflicted terrorism, people being uprooted and the perennial fight between two neighbouring countries has made life difficult, but this particular piece of land is not just known for its concrete nature, but the culture, and the people who give it an identity. Once upon a time, the gorgeous valley was the ideal destination for vacations and even inspired many Bollywood movies, but today, thanks to the current fabricated perception of the land, tourism is experiencing an all time dip. The tourism department of Kashmir has taken a wonderful initiative to change all of this and focus on the positive aspects of the valley. This video, titled ‘Kashmir: The Warmest Place On Earth’ is directed by the talented Amit Sharma and has already crossed two million views in less than two days. The video was shared by Mehbooba Mufti as well.

Amit Sharma is no stranger to success. He’s a stellar director who has a unique vision by drawing inspiration from the world around him. Do you remember that heart warming advertisement by Google that involved the reunion of two childhood friends separated by partition but united by technology? It was directed by him only.

He runs ‘Chrome Pictures’, a production house with many reputed brands as their clientele. It’s no wonder excellence comes naturally to him! “It was the first time, that in a tourism film, someone was trying to talk not just about the beauty of the land but about the people as well. And it is so true. The innocence that thrives in this land can be found nowhere else. I was humbled by the hospitality of the people. Every location we went to, the people there (the locals) personally served ‘kahwa’ with something to eat, and we could not say no to them because otherwise they felt as though they did something wrong. All I have done is tried to capture the true essence of Kashmir. Everything that you see in this film is true. Kashmir is an experience, and the people play a major part in that. It is one place that I can call my own”, says Amit, when asked about the reception that this video was getting.

The video on Kashmir captures the essence that resonates in the people of the valley, the ones who have not abandoned their land yet. The movie has caught the eye and attention of everyone and even celebrities on Twitter are overjoyed.

An unnamed member of the show’s crew made the following comment to The Telegraph back in 2014 : “Jerome and Lena aren’t on speaking terms anymore and they are never in the same room at the same time. You can just imagine what a nightmare it must be for both of them to work together after a break-up, especially went it ended that badly. Moreover, think of all the scenes we could’ve had if these two actors were able to work alongside each other.

The 7th season of ‘Game of Thrones’ has ended and so has our watch. The finale has left us in whirlwind of emotions and we have been replaying everything in our heads ever since. Too bad if you haven’t watched it yet, we suggest you do not read any further because this piece has more spoilers than the hair in your head. First things first, Jon and Dany have finally hooked up after leaving fans on the brink of a climax with their sexual tension. Strangely enough, the intimate scene is coupled with the scene of Jon’s bloody birth. Don’t know why but we think Dany might soon have a child of her own.

While Cersei might have sunk to her lowest yet and she is not budging even for the White Walkers, we see a point in her madness. Let your enemies fight and kill each other. One dragon is already dead; she might not have to fight at all to win this war perhaps. Nevertheless, let’s take a moment to savour some of the best moments of this episode!
