Moments after picking up the National Award for his act as a cynical CRPF officer in Newton last week, Pankaj Tripathi reflected on his future plans, revealing that he saw himself doing organic farming. Having lived the life of a farmer in his childhood, he is versed with the hurdles that the community faces. Now that he’s in a position to do so, he hopes to improve their livelihood.

Talking to mid-day, Tripathi reveals he is working towards the betterment of farmers belonging to his native place, Gopalganj in Bihar. “Hailing from a farmer’s family, I have known the hardships [they face]. Given the effort they put in, and the returns they get in India, it’s not easy [to live their life]. It has always been my primary [desire] to give back to this community. I have already begun working on various programs,” the actor says.

On his course of action is an educative session that will enable farmers to learn about processes that can make their job easier. “In order to provide sustainable means of making a living, we are putting together a community that can demand better price points for [procuring] tillers of land, and making farmers better educated about processes. We also want them to be less dependent on loans and make a living with their personal funds.”

Tripathi simultaneously intends to uplift their method of living by building toilets to prevent open defecation. “I have tied up with local government [bodies] to help build toilets. I am coordinating with corporator and civic bodies. I hope to make facilities [easily] available to farmers, and educate them about their rights.” Should the initiative be successful in Gopalganj, Tripathi says he will extend it to other villages in Maharashtra. “It would be great if this can reach to the entire community.”

Harish Vyas, director of Pankaj Tripathi-starrer Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain, says the film depicts how romance is not just for the youth. The first look of the film, which also features Sanjay Mishra, Anshuman Jha, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Brijendra Kala and Ekavali Khanna, was released by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) on Thursday.

Scheduled to release on May 18, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain is set in Varanasi and boasts of real-life characters and situations one can relate to, especially for those who are or have ever been in love, read a statement.

“It’s a romantic film. I wanted to address this side of romance that is subdued and wrapped in the fine nuances of the daily grind. Romance in India is usually depicted through the youth but it’s not limited to them. In this case, it is depicted by the younger couple like always, but is instrumental in vocalising the unexpressed love in all generations other than ‘the young’,” said Vyas.

“Sanjayji was the only person I had in mind to play this character for the kind of value he has brought to the character of Yashwant Batra,” he added. Presented by NFDC and produced by Manav Malhotra of Drumroll Pictures in association with Bunty Khan’s Shiny Entertainment, the film shows the lives of three ordinary couples who have very distinct views on what love stands for.

Vyas has also written the screenplay and co-penned the film’s dialogues with Aryan Saha. “Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain” has also won awards for Best Feature Film and Best Director at the Five Continents International Film Festival 2017, Venezuela. The film’s music is composed by Praveen Kuwar, Oni-Adil and Ranjan Sharma, with lyrics by Yogesh Gaur.

The movie is highlighting the problem of a dismantled election system in the country, especially in the rural sector and how it is hindering our progress as a political economy. Rajkummar is shown to be a stringent, law-abiding man and his journey begins when he is assigned a Naxalite area for getting people over there to vote.

The trailer gives an insight into the lives of people living in these backward areas, which don’t turn up to cast their votes because they fear it will cost them their lives. The movie also has Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi playing pivotal roles.

The political black comedy takes a dig at everything that is screwed up with our perception as voters. Truth be told, we complain about election results and even justify how they are always tampered, but that is because we allow the parties to manipulate all the results. Rajkummar Rao represents the minority in our country who takes pride in their honesty and also want to be applauded for it.

The movie is all set to hit the screens next month. There is a wave of this particular genre of movie that support positive changes in the society and highlight what is going wrong with our country. Currently, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is ruling hearts with the chord that it has struck. Let’s hope these movies make the change they are trying to bring.

Lately, such films have been gaining popularity. Time has changed, we look forward to great content.

And one such film that has grabbed everyone’s attention recently is director Shanker Raman’s Gurgaon, which is said to be inspired by true incidents. Since the time the first look was out, people have been talking about it, after all the name itself increasing one’s curiosity.

The film stars star Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Oberoi, Ragini Khanna and Aamir Bashir. The title clearly drops the hint that the film talks about a crime that takes place in an area which is located admits of well-developed place.
