After Padmaavat, Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut’s highly-anticipated film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is the latest film to get embroiled in a controversy

After ‘Padmaavat’, Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut’s highly-anticipated film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ is the latest film to get embroiled in a controversy. Reports are doing the round that the movie, which was earlier slated to release in April, has now been pushed to August.

However, the producers of the film, Kamal Jain and Zee Studios haven’t officially announced the release date yet. On a related note, a Brahmin outfit in Rajasthan has threatened to disrupt the shooting of the film, claiming it has an “indecent portrayal” of Rani Laxmibai.

The period drama, which stars Kangana in the titular role, also features Atul Kulkarni in a pivotal role as Tatya Tope, Sonu Sood as Sadashiv and Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkarbai.

Vicky Kaushal to slip into the role of Kangana Ranaut’s nemesis in her upcoming thriller set to roll in August

With only a short schedule of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi pending, Kangana Ranaut has turned her attention towards her next project, a whodunit, which she hopes to title Mental. Interestingly, for her debut outing in the genre, Ranaut has zeroed in on Vicky Kaushal to feature alongside her. In a bid to keep the suspense around the thriller intact, insiders, we hear, are keeping their lips sealed about the storyline. However, a source reveals, “Kangana plays a dark character. Vicky slips into the part of her nemesis. He instantly fell for his role when he read the script. The makers wanted someone who could give a tough fight to Kangana’s character, and Vicky has showcased sufficient range to provide the same.”

Ahead of the first schedule in August, Kaushal we hear, will be allotted 15 days to gain a few pounds for the venture. The development comes after reports of the unit having approached Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao for the part. Kaushal is yet to sign on the dotted line.

While the film was set to roll in February, Ranaut will find herself occupied with the patch work for her Rani Laxmibai biopic before she can dive headfirst into this venture. “With Vicky too having a 40-day schedule for his next, Uri, in the pipeline, it was apt to defer this film.”

Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta, who is part of Manikarnika, says actress Kangana Ranaut is like a true goddess on the movie set. Jisshu has already completed the first schedule of the film here and will join the team in Bikaner towards the end of the month. He plays Gangadhar Rao.

“Working with Kangana has been such a treat. She is like a true goddess on sets. She is always very polite and quite the earnest type. She is a phenomenal performer and is very supportive towards the entire cast,” Jisshu said in a statement. With National Award-winning fashion designer Neeta Lulla curating the looks for his character in the Jagarlamudi Radhakrishna-directorial, Jisshu says he is thankful for the “amazing costumes”.

“I have done a lot of fictional reading already for my role. The way the director has envisioned this film, I can’t wait for it to release and I have to thank Neeta Lulla for the amazing costumes,” he said.

Currently, Jisshu is busy shooting a Bengali film tiled Ek Je Chhilo Raja, directed by Srijit Mukherji. In the past, Jishu has worked in Bollywood films like Barfi!, Mardaani and Piku.

Recently, the pictures of Kangana’s ‘piece of heaven’ created a lot of buzz online. In the last month, we got a glimpse of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s new â‚¹34 Crore Sea-Facing Mumbai Apartment and then obviously the Bachchan’s luxurious â‚¹21 Crore Mumbai Apartment.

And now, Kangana is again redefining home goals for us with her palatial bungalow nestled in the hills of Manali, her hometown. Her European themed abode is obviously breath-taking at first look, but what makes it all kinds of goals is the details. Well, who wouldn’t want to live in an eight-bedroom house with step-out balconies attached to every room?

According to DNA, she purchased the bungalow for â‚¹10 crores right after the success of her 2014 movie ‘Queen’ and then went on to invest a whopping â‚¹20 crores over the years for luxury additions and other renovations. And, going by the pictures, it was totally worth it.

Speaking to DNA, a source close to the actress said: “It’s an eight-bedroom house with all the windows opening to a view of the mountains. Each room has a step-out balcony. There is a rooftop glass conservatory, so that there is ample sunlight during the winters.”

But, that’s not it!

The house also boasts of a living room with an incredible view, along with a fireplace, since the temperature dips during the cooler months. The whole thing has been designed by Shabnam Gupta, and moreover, Kangana also plans on getting more home decor products from local handicrafts and handloom collections.

The source added, “Kangana has been making regular visits to her hometown to check on the progress of the place. She just got back from Manali two days ago in time for the shoot of a reality show.”

Now that the global girl Priyanka Chopra has appeared on this show and spoke her heart out about having no godfathers in the industry and still making it big, at the press conference, Karan Johar was questioned if Kangana Ranaut would be extended an invitation to be on the show.

The man who has had an infamous history over the nepotism facade, said, “I’m sure if star plus invites Kangana Ranaut, we will be very happy to have her on the show. Our hearts are big and our house doors are opened for her. All those who are invited from our side, we will happily, lovingly welcome them.”

The filmmaker also clarified that he isn’t considering this show to be a platform to answer nepotism. “Everyone here with talent will be appreciated and no reference,” clarified Karan when asked him about it.

Rohit Shetty and Karan also revealed that the winner of the show will be launched by either of them, or both together or some big production houses.

Actress Kangana Ranaut, who never minces words, has opposed the threats issued to “Padmavati” actress Deepika Padukone, and said patriarchy in the society needs to be attacked. Kangana was at Reebok’s Fit To Fight Awards here on Thursday night when she was asked about her thoughts on the threats issued to Deepika over the controversial film “Padmavati”.

She said: “It is absolutely wrong, but I feel it is not something which is very surprising. When my sister was in school, she faced an acid attack from a student and now when I am in a professional environment, a superstar is trying to put me behind bars. So, this is very common that happens in our society. “I feel we should not attack individuals, we should attack patriarchy and chauvinism. For individuals, we can call them out and say whatever you are doing is not right.”

“But I feel this is not restricted only to boys, it implies to girls as well, so we have to attack that view point and we are doing it whether with our work, speech or films. And that is why I feel films are an important medium, because we as an industry can reach out to people only through our films.” Kangana is next working on “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi”.

Reacting to comparisons between her look for the movie and Deepika’s get-up in Padmavati”, Kangana said: “Our film is a different film. It’s a film about a warrior queen who fought against British empire. I feel we should feel ashamed that we didn’t make any film earlier based on her life. “I think we should honour real heroes like Rani Lakshmibai, which we are doing through our film. In future as well, we will make an effort in that direction and all we need is support from the media.” Kangana’s “Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi”, directed by Krish, is scheduled to release in April 2018.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel’s baby boy Prithvi Raj Chandel has turned 13 days old and the Ranaut family had a grand celebration with local food and music according to traditional rituals followed in their native place, Himachal Pradesh. Rangoli Chandel shared pictures on Twitter from the function called ‘Gantryala’, but Kangana was seemingly missing from the get-together owing to the injury she sustained on the sets of ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’.

In 2011, Rangoli tied the knot with her childhood love Ajay Chandel in Delhi. The couple has been married for seven years and Prithvi is their first child. Earlier, confirming about Rangoli’s pregnancy, Kangana had told mid-day, “It will be the first grandchild in the family. And naturally, my parents and the entire family are overjoyed!” The National Award-winning actress was always by Rangoli’s side during her pregnancy, taking care of her.

During her pregnancy, Rangoli, who also manages Kangana’s work, took a break from her work and therefore wasn’t seen with Kangana, which flamed rumours of a rift between the two sisters. “I have been by Kangana’s side ever since she started off as an actress. She has not only supported us but has also made our careers. I have taken a break from work since I am pregnant and have been advised bed rest,” Rangoli had said earlier.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut, who has been shooting for the biopic on Rani Laxmibai ‘Manikarnika’, has had her ligament torn while pulling a stunt. “The accident took place when Kangana was performing the iconic scene in fort Mehrangarh, Jodhpur where Laxmi Bai jumps off a 40 feet wall with Damodar her child tied to her back on to ahorse back,” Kangana’s spokesperson told. “Kangana didn’t land properly and in an attempt to save the kid from any injury, she ended up hurting her ankle. She was taken to a hospital immediately in the early morning hours as the crew was filming nights. The X ray was done and it turned out to be a ligament tear,” the spokesperson added.

With the rest of the filming stalled till Kangana gets well, the stunt that injured Kangana, ” was the last dangerous stunt” left to film. “Kangana has been advised rest for one week till she has to keep the cast on. The crew will resume filming as soon as the cast comes off. She is almost done with her shoot, only had one more day to shoot there. Iconic war scene was being shot. Therefore the shoot has not been halted because of the injury,” said the spokesperson.

Directed by National Award winning director Krish, the film is scheduled for release on April 27 next year. It also features Sonu Sood, Suresh Oberoi, Atul Kulkarni and Ankita Lokhande.
