Rumours of Irrfan Khan consulting Ayurveda doctor Vaidya Balendu Prakash, who also treated Steve Jobs, has been rubbished by the actor’s spokesperson

Actor Irrfan Khan, who is suffering from a neuroedocrine tumour, is not undergoing any Ayurvedic treatment, his spokesperson said today. Debunking the reports that Irrfan is consulting Ayurveda doctor Vaidya Balendu Prakash, who also treated Steve Jobs, the spokesperson said the actor once spoke to the doctor about his health but there have been no further “conversation or consultation”.

“As suggested by recent news reports, Mr Khan is not consulting with Vaidya Balendu Prakash. He at one point had contacted him but other than one phone call there has been no conversation or consultation whatsoever. It is unacceptable to be using someone’s illness for your own publicity and personal gain. Like Irrfan Khan’s previous statements, we all need to respect the space asked for and wait for him or his wife’s statement for any further update,” Irrfan’s spokesperson said in a statement.

The 51-year-old actor had recently said that he will be travelling abroad for the treatment.

Being a celebrity means that you and your life is always in the limelight and everything is up for speculation, and most of the time, it is still bearable and okay, but sometimes people cross a line.

Yes, they chose this life but people also need to respect their privacy, after all they are also human, and not everything is supposed to be shared with the public.

Irrfan Khan's Wife Wants All The Speculations To StopTwitter/Irrfan Khan

Recently, Irrfan Khan revealed that he’s suffering from a rare disease, probably because he appreciates his fans so much that he wanted to share everything with them, the good and the bad. But, the problem is that this was all he shared, but rumours started flying and there were way too many different theories since he posted his news on Twitter.

Yes, everyone is curious and everyone wants to support him, but this is a private matter and he will share more when he feels the time is right. Making up random stories and starting rumours about different diseases he is suffering from just seems very insensitive right now.

Soon after his tweet, rumours of him having a brain tumour went viral. Even after clarifications from his friend, the speculation continued and everyone was just focussing all their energy on the wrong thing.

It seems like the rumours got so bad that Irrfan’s wife, Sutapa Sikdar has finally spoken about the issue. She wrote a heartfelt message for everyone on Facebook, addressing everyone’s concerns, thanking them for all the prayers and apologising for all the secrecy (which she doesn’t need to, tbh).

Here’s the post:

This is so well put, hopefully everyone will give the family time and privacy to deal with it. This is a time to just pray for him and he has doctors to figure out his condition, so no doesn’t need media and random people on Twitter to diagnose him.

As Irrfan Khan sends fans into tizzy with revelation of suffering from “rare disease”, Blackmail director opens up on collaborating with actor

Irrfan Khan

Irrfan Khan sent shockwaves in the industry when he opened up about contracting “a rare disease” in a post on his Twitter account yesterday. He wrote, “Sometimes, you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me… In trying times, please don’t speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week — ten days, when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me.” (sic)

Though Abhinay Deo, director of Khan’s upcoming film Blackmail, admitted that the tweet left him stunned, he emphasised that it was time to stand by the actor’s side.

Abhinay Deo

“I read his message on Twitter and it was shocking to find out about this health. He never showed any signs of illness while we were shooting for Blackmail, nor did he mention anything about it. I am sure the doctors are doing their best and providing necessary treatment. I haven’t called him because he and his family are taking care of the situation, and during such a time, they need their privacy,” said Deo.

That Khan was under the weather was revealed a fortnight ago when Vishal Bhardwaj announced that he was postponing his project based on gangster Sapna Didi owing to his lead actors’ health problems. Khan was said to be suffering from jaundice at the time. However, things seemed to have taken a turn for the worse since then.

Concerned about Khan’s health, Deo said they are open to postponing Blackmail’s release, should the need arise. “As of now, the film is going to release as per schedule on April 6. It all depends on what news comes from Irrfan and his doctors’ end. Then we can take a call and defer the release if needed.”

Lauding him for opening up about his ailment on a public platform, the director added, “It’s commendable of him to come out on a public forum and speak about what he is going through, as this will put an end to speculations that may have started.”

Abhinay Deo’s upcoming quirky comedy shares a connection to his 2011 comic entertainer Delhi Belly. While the posters of Blackmail feature the star cast covering their faces with bra and panty paper bags, the poster of Delhi Belly too featured Shenaz Treasurywala with a brown paper bag.

The poster of Aamir Khan Productions’ Delhi Belly had Shenaz Treasurywala covering her face with a paper bag as she gets held in the case of diamonds. A paper bag is yet again seen in Abhinay Deo’s upcoming directorial Blackmail as Irrfan Khan is seen covering his face with a bra and panty paper bag not only in the posters but also the teaser.

Actor Irrfan Khan says his wife Sutapa Sikdar, who also produced his movie “Qarib Qarib Singlle”, is his best friend

Irrfan Khan

Actor Irrfan Khan says his wife Sutapa Sikdar, who also produced his movie “Qarib Qarib Singlle”, is his best friend. “My wife is my best friend and we discuss everything. We often talk about my work and she thought producing a film like ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’ would be great as the love story was unique,” Irrfan said in a statement.

“We studied in the same film school and my wife has a better understanding of many things than me, including performances. She has a lot of creative energy, which translated beautifully in this film and its story,” he added. The movie, directed by Tanuja Chandra and starring Parvathy, will be showcased on &pictures on February 17. It is about two people with opposite personalities and sensibilities who meet via an online dating app. Irrfan believes love can be found anywhere.

“Love can happen in the most unexpected ways to people. Some meet their partners and spouses through friends, an arranged marriage set-up or matrimonial sites. A dating site is a cool platform to find someone who you think you’re compatible with. There shouldn’t be any stigma or any taboo around it,” he said.

However, he has an observation to make about the young generation that gets into a relationship very fast and the break up happens even faster. “Today’s generation is more impulsive than what we were. There is no peace in their life and most of them are impulsive decision makers. With time, they will all learn the importance of having that one special person with whom they can spend the rest of their life.”

Irrfan believes “if you really want to know a person, go on a journey”. “The masks come off and you can see their real nature,” he added.
