She has already given her fans a sense of her singing ability with “Sooha saaha” and “Main tenu samjhawan”. But Alia Bhatt proved she can even rap well.

At the IIFA Rocks stage here, the talented actress came to the stage to present an award. And then the hosts Riteish Deshmukh and Maniesh Paul insisted she shows the audience a step or two.

But Alia said she would do that during her performance at the main IIFA Awards event on Saturday night.

However, she was sporting enough to offer to rap. And she did it, adding even a step or two, leading the audience to cheer on.

Manish MalhotraManish Malhotra

Veteran fashion designer Manish Malhotra tripped as he made his way to collect an award at the IIFA Rocks stage here but he was all smiles.

The debonair designer went up the stage to receive the Best Background Score on behalf of Pritam for “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”. But just as he was about to get on to the last stair to the stage, he tripped.

Later, Manish took the stage to receive his own Best Costume Designing award for the same film, and he ensured he was careful.

“When I came to collect an award for Pritam, I fell badly. I think I am lucky when it comes to collecting an award for myself,” Manish quipped.

He was also excited to receive the trophy from one of his “favourite actress” Alia Bhatt.

IIFA Rocks, part of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) extravaganza here, was held at the MetLife Stadium on Friday night.

Karan Johar in Bombay VelvetKaran Johar in Bombay Velvet

He may have provided the perfect launch pad to many aspiring actors, but Karan Johar did not get a dream debut as far as his acting career was concerned. KJo, who made his full-fledged acting debut in Bombay Velvet (2015), had joked after the film’s debacle, “Nobody has offered me any role till now. I think nobody liked me. I should at least get offers to refuse them. I can’t cast myself in my own films.”

Looks like acting is still on the cards for the talented filmmaker. KJo has been roped in for a pivotal role in the film, tentatively titled Crazy Hum, which puts the spotlight on the incidents that occur behind the stage at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards.

“It’s a full-fledged role and not a cameo. While many celebs are making cameos, KJo has a prominent part in the film. He will be seen playing himself,” informs a source. Newbie director Chakri Toleti had approached the filmmaker a few months ago. “He was kicked about the idea the minute he heard it,” informs another source from NYC.

Johar is currently in New York attending the events leading up to the big finale. He will also be hosting the awards ceremony with Saif Ali Khan. We reached out to producer Vashu Bhagnani and Johar, both of whom remained unavailable to comment.

Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh have already begun shooting for Crazy Hum in the Big Apple.

Salman-Katrina-IIFAActress Katrina Kaif tasted her first Bollywood success opposite Salman Khan and she said meeting the superstar was the most memorable moment of her life.

The 33-year-old actress made her film debut with Kaizad Gustad’s 2003 movie “Boom”, which was a failure. Her first hit was 2005 Salman-starrer “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?”, directed by David Dhawan.

When asked what was the most naughty or memorable thing she did at the age of 18, Katrina replied, “I was 18 when I met Salman and that is the most memorable thing.”

To which Salman jokingly added, “There is nothing naughty that I did. And there is nothing memorable that I have done.”
Salman and his former girlfriend, Katrina, will be performing at the 18th edition of The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards here.

When posed the same question, actress Alia Bhatt said, she was giving her exams and was also doing workshops for her debut film “Student of the Year” at the age of 18.

The 24-year-old actress said she was both nervous and excited about her debut performance at IIFA.

“I have not been part of the IIFA so far and I think everything happens for a reason. It had to be in New York and it had to be when I was nominated for two of my films – ‘Dear Zindagi’ and ‘Udta Punjab’. It is special. I am excited, enthusiastic and nervous.”
Katrina quickly added, “I hope Alia wins both the trophies and gives one in charity.”
