The tipsy ‘Kaavaan Kaavan’ has made a comeback and colour us shocked if it isn’t one of the grooviest tunes of the year. If you loved the original song in ‘Monsoon Wedding’ by Sukhwinder Singh, it goes without saying that you are bound to love this one as well.

The slick tune is sung by Divya Kumar and starts with Farhan Akhtar day dreaming about everyone chanting his name. The song plays as the background as Akhtar and Deepak Dobriyal discuss their plan to breakout of jail.

When we heard this song in Mira Nair’s film 16 years ago, little did we know that it would become an iconic generational tune. There was not a party or a wedding that was complete without playing this song. And now, Farhan Akhtar has given this beautiful number a new meaning altogether, making us all super nostalgic.

This song acts more like an inspiring tune for people who want to break the mould and breathe in free. Well, Frahan looks fab (as always) but it is Gippy Grewal who grabs your attention.

The famous singer is finally making his acting debut with this film and his desi swag adds real flavour to this wonderful song.

Just like Sukhwinder, Divya has infused his infectious energy into the song, making it every bit as addictive as the original version.

Check out the foot-tapping tune yourself and get ready to groove to its peppy beats:

The film is slated to be released on September 15.

Bollywood and its fixation with prisons and the life of inmates has been continuing for decades now. Yet the way new directors are experimenting with this concept is something to look forward to. Recently, we came across Yash Raj Films' ‘Qaidi Band' starring Aadar Jain and Anya Singh. The movie talks about a bunch of innocent undertrials who form an orchestra inside the jail. But, will their story be similar to Kishen Mohan Girhotra's fight for freedom? For those wondering who is Kishen, he is none other than our Bollywood's rockstar Farhan Akhtar who will play a jail inmate in the upcoming movie ‘Lucknow Central'. The trailer of this much-anticipated film is out and by the looks of it, audience can expect something new and different from this movie. Farhan sheds his rockstar-on-stage avatar but does not lose his musical connect and that's one of the reasons why we are eagerly awaiting this film.

The story plot is simple yet intriguing. Akhtar plays an aspiring singer from Moradabad, who gets accused of murder and ends up in Lucknow Central Jail awaiting trial for a death penalty. While in jail, he crosses paths with Diana Penty, who plays an NGO worker and wants to form a Band of Prisoners for a band competition. Farhan befriends 4 other inmates and thus ensues their struggle to break free from prison. How the protagonist's life progresses inside the jail premises and how music comes to their aid weaves the rest of the plot. Farhan Akhtar looks really convincing as the small town boy who is falsely accused of murder and although we couldn't figure out much about Diana Penty's character, she will definitely be someone to look forward to.  The surprise element was actor Ronit Roy who within the first few seconds won our hearts with his badassery.

The movie also stars Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Ravi Kishan and Rajesh Sharma among others and is slated to release on 15th September, 2017.

Last year, she became the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Paralympics Games, bagging a Silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the shot put event. Moreover, she already has 54 gold medals at the national level and 13 at the international level in swimming, javelin throw and shot put and was even honoured with the Arjuna Award back in 2012.

And now her inspiring life story will be coming to the big screen, all thanks to Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Reportedly, Farhan was so inspired by her when he met, he felt the need to show the world about the challenges she has faced in her life.

“I had watched videos of her and knew that her life story was unreal, but when I met her and she let me hold her medal, the sheer weight of the silver gave me gooseflesh,” Pune Mirror quoted Ritesh as saying.

“At one point in her life she had to choose between death and life in a wheelchair and she chose the latter. But as she sat in front of me, there was nothing differently-abled about her. She was empowering, a pillar of strength, and I knew that we needed to take her fight to the big screen.”

Vivek Oberoi plays Vikrant Dhawan, a character allegedly inspired by former IPLâÂÂ?ÂÂ?chairman Lalit Modi (inset)

With the Virat Kohli-Anil Kumble war out in the open, Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani’s upcoming web series around a cricket premier league couldn’t have been better timed. Inside Edge is expected to strip the veneer off India’s favourite sport and its heroes to reveal the dark underbelly characterised by manipulation, corruption and power games.

THE BCCI, the national governing body for cricket in India, is allegedly concerned with how the game, and its governance is portrayed. An episode surrounding a powerful character, that sources say is fashioned around Lalit Modi, founder chairman and administrator of IPL, is of particular interest to them.

In 2010, Congress minister Shashi Tharoor resigned after allegations of improper influence during the investigations carried out by tax authorities to probe the IPL valued at $4.1 billion. Following this, Modi was suspended by the BCCI after the final match of the 2010 series, saying, he had “brought a bad name to the administration of cricket and the game itself”.

Insiders claim the producers may be looking at collaborating with the BCCI, especially since they need cricket footage for Season 2. A potential tie-up could translate into the governing body promoting the show via its official social media platforms.

Even as the producers refused to comment, production unit hand, on condition of anonymity, said, “The show couldn’t have come at a better time. It will serve as a mirror to the way cricket is administered. The show looks at ego clashes, the power struggle between team members and spot fixing. BCCI is keen that certain portions are toned down, and in return, might help with necessary permissions for Season 2.”

Actor Vivek Oberoi, who plays Vikrant Dhawan, who is allegedly inspired by Modi, had said in an earlier interview, “For Vikrant Dhawan, power is a drug. He is a mastermind, a puppeteer. This is a world far removed from the normal one. The world [portrayed in the show] is real, the people are fictional. Dhawan’s world revolves around match fixing. You get to see how it actually happens. It’s about how a bet is placed and how it affects every level [of stakeholders], from rookies to teams.” BCCI did not respond to an email sent by mid-day.
