Shah Rukh Khan, like last year, has topped Twitter’s most talked about celebrity list. Among the ladies, Deepika Padukone has topped the list, replacing last year’s winner Priyanka Chopra

Varun Dhawan had a great 2017, with both his releases, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ and Judwaa 2, ruling the box office. While the actor has been collecting gongs at award galas, he has also been honoured on social media. According to Twitter India’s annual ranking list, the ‘Badlapur’ actor is the favourite Gen Next star for the second time in a row.

The elated actor says, “It feels great that people are talking good things about me. Twitter is a fun place if you don’t take it seriously, and I kept that in mind. I was myself on the platform. Thanks to my activities on Twitter, people could relate to me. I am always open to constructive criticism and don’t give a damn about those who spread negativity.

I even got an e-challan from the Mumbai police [for posting a picture on social media of a selfie with a fan mid-traffic]. Among the ladies, Deepika Padukone has topped the list, replacing last year’s winner Priyanka Chopra. The Piku actor is followed by Anushka Sharma, Chopra and Alia Bhatt. Sharma, who tied the knot with cricketer Virat Kolhi earlier this month, announced her marriage on Twitter. Her post has been lauded as the Golden Tweet Of The Year, as it got the maximum number of retweets.

But, it is a lesser known fact that RS shares a great rapport even with Dippy’s daddy, Prakash Padukone.

Ranveer recently attended the inauguration ceremony of the sports institute, Padukone-Dravid Center for Sports Excellence that has been started by cricketer Rahul Dravid along with Deepika’s father and badminton player Prakash Padukone in Bengaluru.

Even Deepika was present at the event and she even gave a warm speech talking about her father. But, even after having his girlfriend by his side, Ranveer clicked a selfie with her father and captioned it: “GOD OF BADMINTON Prakash Padukone”.

In the picture, both the Men, dressed in formal suits can be seen smiling ear to ear.

Later, Deepika too shared her happiness on her social media account and captioned it: “Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence[PDCSE]this is by far the BEST thing that could’ve happened to Indian Sport! Congratulations.”

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli tied the knot secretly on December 11, in Italy and hosted a grand wedding reception in Delhi on December 21, ready to meet their friends and well-wishers from their respective industries. The reception ceremony of Indian cricket captain Virat Kohliand Bollywood actress-producer Anushka Sharma at Hotel Taj Palace’s Raja Baugh area was more of a traditional affair with a select few including Prime Minister Narendra Modi among the invitees.

The couple was expected to appear for the event at 8 pm but they turned up at a little late. With a neatly-tied bun encircled in a mogra gajra, Anushka wore a traditional red and gold saree designed by Sabyasachi with a heavy palla and jadau jewellery; chuda and sindoor in place. Virat appeared dapper in a black achkan and white churidaar and heavily embroidered shawl with golden border in black mojris. Virat helped Anushka on the stage as they posed for the shutterbugs as fans flanked the streets for the two.

However, what caught our attention was Anushka’s saree, it struck a similar resemblance to one of the earlier outfits worn by actress Deepika Padukone. Sabyasachi’s designs on Anushka offered nothing fresh.

The new bride’s wedding lehenga and earrings were similar to Deepika’s saree and earrings that she wore to one of the awards function. Anushka, however, looked breathtakingly beautiful on both of her special days.

On Sunday, the gorgeous and talented actresses of Bollywood dazzled at the red carpet of the Lux Golden Rose Awards at the famous Yash Raj Film Studios in Mumbai. While beauties like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez chose to keep it subtle and demure, like too many Cinderellas walking the red carpet, there were a few A-list actresses who failed miserably to create their mark. While powder-pink and plum red was the colour of the night, it was dimple-diva, Deepika Padukone‘s blingy golden balloon-sleeve gown that irked the actress’ fans.

Deepika’s fans have bashed her stylist, Shaleena Nathani, and pleaded her to stop styling one of the most beautiful actresses, Ms. Padukone, like a ‘wrapping bag’. There were various kinds of suggestions popping up for the stylist to make justice with the actress’ personality. Some even went to the extent of asking her to stop styling the ‘Piku’ actress. According to Deepika’s fans, who consider her as a fashion icon, warned Shaleena to style her ‘properly’, as she made her look ‘ugly’. Well, the comments followed on the Instagram picture posted by the stylist.

Well, this isn’t the first time that the ‘Padmavati‘ actress had to face the wrath of the fashion police. In the recent past, she has been more criticised than applauded for her fashion choices. At times, the actress has also lost her cool on being asked about her fashion blunders. Talking about her past fashion mistakes, she was trolled for wearing a blingy green pantsuit at the closing ceremony of MAMI Film Festival 2017. The actress was called a ‘joker’ and comments like ‘Looks like Deepika gift wrapped herself too along with the Diwali gifts’ were made. Prior to this, the ‘Piku’ actress had posted an image from one of the magazine’s photo-shoots, where she was called terms such as ‘dead body’ for looking ‘anorexic’ in that particular photo.

Padukone was also referred to as ‘Bollywood blunder’ by fashion police at the Europe Music Awards last year. Deepika Padukone made her maiden international red carpet appearance at the Europe Music Awards 2016 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It was a big moment for Dippy as she was gearing up for her Hollywood debut ‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage’ then. For the ceremony, Deepika had opted for a swamp green skirt and bralette ensemble by Mumbai designer Monisha Jaising. She had accentuated the look with a gigantic belt and black stilettos. What caught the eye were the oversized green danglers on her ears. But the star’s sartorial choice did not go down too well with the British fashion police who called her a ‘Bollywood blunder’. Buzz had it that Deepika was miffed with her stylist then. She had apparently given her team a dressing down, asking only for outfits that ‘slay’.

Padmavati controversy causes “emotionally affected” Deepika Padukone to push Vishal Bhardwaj’s next film

Shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan starrer has been deferred amidst concerns surrounding Padmavati’s release. mid-day has learnt that the cast and crew has been asked to reschedule the dates that they had allotted for the January 2018 shooting leg. Sources say Padukone is “emotionally affected” by the political climate that has led to her receiving death threats.

Bhardwaj’s publicist confirms that his production, which is being helmed by Honey Trehan, will now kick-off in March. A source tells mid-day, “Deepika wishes to take a break before returning to the set. She wants to be mentally prepared for the film.” Further, a fair share of time will also be spent on training Padukone to wield and shoot a gun, the source adds. “To add to the delay, Bhardwaj has decided to revisit the script. He wants to ensure that he has everything in place before they roll.” Bhardwaj’s publicist however suggests that the film will roll as previously planned. “We never announced a date,” she argues.

Priyanka dethrones Deepika to reclaim top spot in international poll of 50 Sexiest Asian Women

Within a week of her international film, A Kid Like Jake, being selected for the Sundance Film Festival, there’s good news pouring in for Priyanka Chopra again. The actor has topped the list of 50 Sexiest Asian Women, a poll conducted by London-based weekly Eastern Eye. Interestingly, Chopra has dethroned her peer and friend Deepika Padukone, who had bagged the honour last year.

The actor-producer came out on top following millions of votes pouring in, on social media. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Quantico star has made her presence felt on the list. She previously held the top spot in 2014 and 2015.

Reacting to the honour, Chopra shows she’s a mix of beauty and brains as she quips, “I cannot take credit for this at all. Full credit should be given to my genetics and optics! I want to thank everyone who voted for me to be Asia’s Sexiest Woman, for what I’m told is a record-breaking number of times.” Asjad Nazir, curator of the list, adds, “Priyanka has become an incredible ambassador for India. Apart from being courageous enough to fly into the unknown, professionally, she has become a strong symbol for girl power.”
