Anil Kapoor goes off salt and sugar to achieve lean look for 'Fanney Khan'

Besides having an appetite for experimental roles, Anil Kapoor doesn’t shy away from experimenting with his looks either. The actor recently unveiled his look from his next, Fanney Khan. While the first look showed the actor sporting salt-and-pepper hair, those in the know say that he is sporting a lean look in the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film.

The physique didn’t come easy for the 60-year-old actor. A unit hand informs that ahead of the film going on floors a week ago, Kapoor had to adopt a special diet to step into the role of a struggling musician. “Anil was required to achieve a haggard look for the musical. To perfect the look, he completely went off salt and sugar for 20 days,” reveals the source.

Considering the actor suffers from bursitis (inflammation of the tendon near his ankle) — a condition that aggravated during the shoot of Mubarakan in April this year, it was difficult for him to hit the gym with a vengeance. “Anil had to adopt methods other than a regular gym routine to lose weight, as he was nursing an ankle injury at the time. So it was suggested that he go off salt and sugar. He did light workouts twice a day.”

Many drew parallels between this look and the one he sported in Dil Dhadakne Do (2015). Kapoor says, “Fanney Khan’s similarity with Kamal Mehra [his character in Dil Dhadakne Do] ends with the salt-and-pepper hair. The difference in their personalities and circumstances, makes these two characters poles apart.”

Anil Kapoor took 50 hours to finalise his salt-and-pepper look in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s production, Fanney Khan. The actor recently began shooting for the musical, which has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as his co-star.

The makers claim he spent five days at a suburban salon, clocking 10 hours daily till he was happy with the grey strands near the temples and forehead. Considering Mr Jhakaas had a full crop of grey hair in Dil Dhadakne Do (2013), we wonder how many days and hours he spent finalising that look?

There was talk of R Madhavan being part of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s production ‘Fanney Khan’, starring Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The actor says he could not commit to the project due to date issues. But a birdie close to the project chirps to say Maddy asked for a whopper. As a result, the makers roped in Rajkummar Rao. Mehra and Bachchan were keen on Maddy though.

Actor Rajkummar Rao has been floating on cloud nine post the release of his movie ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and why not? His exceptional performance was acknowledged and appreciated by none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who even wrote him a congratulatory note. This year has been a great one for Rao and after delivering back to back hits like ‘Trapped’ and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, the actor is set to floor us with his upcoming movie ‘Newton’ and the trailer looks highly promising. Now, the National Award Winning actor has bagged another big project. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Rao will soon be seen romancing actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Director Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra tweeted out a message welcoming the actor on board to the movie ‘Fanney Khan’.

The movie will be directed by Atul Manjrekar and will also have actor Anil Kapoor in the lead. Rao is currently busy filming Hansal Mehta’s biographical series ‘Bose’ in Poland and is apparently excited to share screen space with Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Talking about the film’s leading lady, Rao said, “She’s the most beautiful woman in the world. It’s a great story, there’s a lot of love, and the content is not just entertaining but is detailed and different. There will be lots of workshops and readings once I am back.”

‘Fanney Khan’ narrates the relationship between a father and his 16-year-old daughter who wants to become a singer. Anil Kapoor has been roped in for the father’s role and we are really excited to see on screen with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after a long hiatus of 17 years. The actors were last seen together in ‘Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai’. The movie is being said to be the Hindi adaptation of Dominique Deruddere’s 2000 hit ‘Everybody’s Famous!’ and will hit theatres in September 2017.

The ‘Mubarakan’ trailer dropped today and the only thing we miss in the movie is probably having a real life Diljit ! Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor play the roles of quintessential Punjabis in London. Arjun is seen in a double role as Charan and Karan.

Anil is the super cool bachelor uncle who is the masala to bland dish. We still cannot believe that this man has touched 60! Because he sure as hell shows no signs of slowing down.

The female leads have Athiya Shetty who is mostly expressionless and Ileana D’ Cruz, who is cruising to some rehashed music.

The trailer looks fun and seems like this is will be a good summer family entertainer.

Anil Kapoors daughter to launch online chat show

Anil Kapoor’s younger daughter Rhea Kapoor, who has always been involved with film production, has decided to launch a new celebrity chat show titled ‘On the Bench’. Hosted by Cyrus Sahukar, the show will be aired on the internet and Youtube unlike Simi Garewal’s Rendezvous and Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan which were aired on television.

The show promises to be sarcastic and on the face but all in good humour. However, as per the format of the show, the celebrities will be sitting on a wooden bench which will be carried by the unit to different locations for the interview. We also hear that two episodes of the show have already been shot with Anil Kapoor and Farah Khan as the guests. Sonam is also supposed to be one of the guests on the show.

New Delhi,Dec 17:Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and director Abhinay Deo, who are working on developing the Indian version of American TV series 24, are said to be on a hunt for 30 new faces for the show.They are looking to launch fresh talent for the show. They have already started the auditions and are scouting for locations for the shooting, according to a source.

24 will go on floors by end of January 2013 or around early February, as soon as the cast is locked, and locations are finalised.

24 is an American television series that started in 2001 and ran till 2010, with a total of 192 episodes.

Anil featured in the eighth season of the show as Omar Hassan, president of the fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan.

In the desi version, Anil will play the iconic character of Jack Bauer, essayed by Kiefer Sutherland in the original.

Anil Kapoor Abhinay Deo to launch 30 new faces in 24

With Anil Kapoor at the helm of the Indian version of the much talked about smash hit American TV show 24, there are huge hopes for not one or two, but a whopping thirty new faces! You heard it right… news is that apart from himself and a few chosen known faces, Anil wants most of the cast to be fresh and that Abhinay Deo and he has already started with the auditions.

While Anil Kapoor has played a cameo in the last season of the American show 24, he will play the iconic character of Jack Bauer (which was played by Kiefer Sutherland in the original) in the Indian version of the show.

Buzz is also that the makers have already started scouting for locations where 24 will be shot. The show will go on floors by end of January, as soon as the cast and locations are finalized.

Rumors have it that Colors channel has bought the broadcast rights for the Indian version from Anil Kapoor for a whopping Rs. 150 crore!
