The man who has earlier given us some of the most fantastic movies like ‘Doctor Strange’, ‘The Imitation Game’ and ‘Sherlock’; Benedict Cumberbatch is back in action with yet another marvelous drama called ‘The Child in Time’. The trailer of the drama was recently released and we can’t help but feel that this guy can turn any movie into gold with his commendable acting. However, what’s more interesting is that Cumberbatch is returning to the BBC with this heart-wrenching tale about a grieving father and his quest to find his missing three-year-old daughter.

‘The Child in Time’ is said to be an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s 1987 novel, where Cumberbatch plays the role of Stephen Lewis who takes his daughter out for a stroll, only to be filled with anger and frustration later after he loses her under his watch. Later, he finds out that his daughter has been abducted and then together with his wife Julie (Kelly Macdonald), he tries to cope with the disappearance of their daughter. The intriguing 40-second trailer echoes nothing but sheer brilliance of the stellar star cast. It perfectly showcases the pain of losing someone you love, the grief and the troubles that cloud Stephen’s life. Cumberbatch will don the hat of a children’s book author.

The movie is being directed by Julian Farino and is being written by Stephen Butchard. It is being produced by PBS MASTERPIECE, Pinewood Studios and Cumberbatch’s own SunnyMarch TV and will be aired on BBC One and on MASTERPIECE on PBS. “Can time heal all wounds?” Well only time will tell when the drama is released.

Diljit Dosanjh might be two films old in Bollywood, but he has already proved with his acting prowess that he is here to stay for a really long time. After winning our hearts with ‘Phillauri’ and ‘Udta Punjab’, the actor is all set to don the hat of a hockey player and not just any player, but former captain of Indian hockey team, Sandeep Singh. Earlier, speculations were rife about who will play his leading lady, but now all those doubts have been put to rest as actress Taapsee Pannu will be reportedly seen romancing Dosanjh in this movie, which is being directed by Shaad Ali.

The shooting of this film will apparently start in October in Punjab. Both Diljit and Taapsee will undergo extensive training by professionals for their respective roles. Also according to a report in The Times Of India, Diljit might get training from none other than the legendary Sandeep Singh himself. Yes, the ace player is expected to help the actor gain more knowledge of the game and might show him some of his key on-field moves. In fact, Sandeep has earlier trained some actors for a Punjabi movie. The two are expected to meet soon t discuss further about this project, however, the discussions are still at a very nascent stage.

The film which is yet to be titled is not a biopic on ace hockey player Sandeep Singh, instead it will focus on his love life and apparently Taapsee Pannu too will be seen in the role of a hockey player. Diljit has already floored us all with his portrayal of a police officer, entangled in the growing abuse of drugs in ‘Udta Punjab’. Taapsee has already impressed us with her impeccable acting in ‘Baby’, ‘Naam Shabana’ and ‘Pink’ and is now all set to sizzle on the silver screen with her upcoming movie ‘Judwaa 2′ which also stars actors Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez. He is sharing screen space with Taapsee for the first time and we are really excited and looking forward this movie because both the actors are extremely talented.

Last year, the box office was primarily ruled by Marathi movie ‘Sairat’ and if the song ‘Zingaat’ still rings in your head, then you will know that this movie’s popularity is no joke. Well, fast forward to the present time and ‘Sairat’ is still making headlines, this time for its Bollywood remake starring Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishan Khattar. Reports of the movie being remade in Hindi had been doing rounds for quite some time and will be produced by Karan Johar, under his banner Dharma Productions.

Well, in recent developments, according to a report in DNA, the shooting of the movie will begin in November this year and Jhanvi has already started preparing for the role, attending dance and acting classes. Time and again people have blown the trumpet of Nepotism in the negative direction, but that does not deter the star kids from showing what they are capable of. Apart from Jhanvi, Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan too is having her dream debut opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Abhishek Kapoor’s directorial venture ‘Kedarnath’, shooting of which started last week.

Nagraj Manjule’s film ‘Sairat’ has already set the benchmark really high and the credit entirely goes to the exceptional acting of the cast and their interesting take on honour killing and caste system. While actors Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar nailed it in the original, it will be interesting to see how Jhanvi and Ishaan stand out in this film. The film talks about two college sweethearts who belong to different castes and the struggles they go through when their relationship falls prey to the stringent practices of casteism. Jhanvi will be debuting with this remake, Ishaan is a film old as he has already completed shooting for Majid Majidi’s ‘Beyond The Clouds’. This film is being directed by Shashank Khaitan, who is known for making ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’.

And when this happens, ‘Cheap Thrills’ becomes Sasti Masti, Harry Potter becomes Hari Puttar, Tyrion Lannister becomes Chotu Mama, and Jon Snow becomes Jagannath, ‘Hangover’ becomes ‘Oh Raat Sasuri’ and ‘Avatar’ becomes ‘Kasam Pandora Maiyya Ki’. Well, for those who still didn’t get the gist, we are talking about hilarious Bhojpuri titles, and other regional translations. We all have seen Bihari parody of ‘Game of Thrones’ and Punjabi version of ‘Spider Man’, this time around it is another classic show that got a desi tadka and we just don’t have words for it. The show is none other than our beloved ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’.

You might criticize us for digging old graves, but we still cannot get over the fact that some people in London left music maestro AR Rahman’s concert midway because he played a couple of Tamil songs. While some fail to appreciate good music, there are others who love it irrespective of the lyrics. We belong to the second category. Having said that, we don’t think there’s anyone who will disagree when we say that South Indian songs are one of the trippiest and peppy dance numbers, you just cannot stop yourself from grooving to it. And ‘Jimmiki Kammal’ from Mohanlal starrer ‘Velipadinte Pusthakam’ is one such number. Unless you were living under a rock, you would have definitely heard this song and slyly danced on it too. Well, you are not the only one who is tripping on it, American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel seems to love this song too. Here’s the official video of the song.

For anyone who ever had doubts about Stephen King and his ability to f**k with our minds with novels in various genres like horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, science-fiction and fantasy; the 2017 release, ‘It’, cleared all those doubts. His evil clown tale narrates the ordeal of some kids who put up a fight against a clown with a history of murder and violence in a small town in Maine. Although Andrés Muschietti’s directorial venture is yet to hit the theatres, it has already kept us on edge with the eerily exceptional performances. Having said that, while ‘It’ has raised the bar for thriller movies really high, Stephen King’s talents knows no bounds and the upcoming Netflix original ‘Gerald’s Game’ is proof of the same. The film is based on Stephen King’s 1992 novel of the same name.

There are some stories that lose their essence when turned into a movie, but some stories become eternal once adapted into a movie and by the looks of the trailer, ‘Gerald’s Game’ has the potential to be that movie. The trailer starts on a fun note where a couple is trying to spice up their sex life, in a remote cabin, while on their romantic trip. To take things to the next level, Gerald handcuffs his wife Jessie and while she is handcuffed to the bed, she accidentally kills Gerald, leaving her with her no means of escape. With no one around, Jessie is left with nothing but to listen to her own voice and depend on some weird and painful memories to stay alive. Things turn scary when a hungry stray dog starts wandering the vicinity and tries to attack her. How she lets her inner voice take centre-stage to get out of this situation weaves the rest of the movie.

Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood both look highly promising as Jessie and Gerald. The movie is being directed by Mike Flanagan who has given us horror gems like ‘Oculus’, ‘Hush’ and ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’. While we loved reading the novel, the movie adaptation is bringing some much-needed life to the characters and we must say that so far, we are truly impressed by the trailer. This Netflix original is slated to release on September 29th.

After Ganpati Visarjan, while everyone else went back home to continue with their chores, actor Randeep Hooda turned a Good Samaritan and decided to do his bit to keep the environment clean. Instances of celebrities supporting the cleanliness drive and PM Modi’s Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan is nothing new, yet it is their selfless deeds that win our hearts every time. Wearing saffron coloured turban, black T-shirt and blue jeans; ‘Highway’ actor Randeep Hooda joined hands with an NGO, run by Afroz Shah, to clear the garbage from Mumbai’s Versova beach.

According to sources, the actor got inspired by his learning Sikhism. “This seva is his learning from Sikhism that he has been following closely since a year. He was saying seva is something all religions need to adopt,” the source said. The actor further expressed his gratitude on Twitter, thanking Afroz for showing him the way to do something for the planet, country and future. He wrote “Thank you Afroz Shah for showing us the way to actually be able to do something for our planet, our country, our future #VersovaBeach #Respect.”

Hooda is currently gearing up for his upcoming movie ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ which talks about the battle that took place in 1897 between the British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzhai tribesmen. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and Randeep will play the role of Havildar Ishar Singh of the Sikh regiment who fought the battle. We need more people like Randeep Hooda who actively work towards the betterment of the society, instead of sitting in their homes and complaining about the degrading environment.

Akshay Kumar Raises 6.5 Crores For Soldiers Within Minutes With An Emotional Appeal

On days when Akshay Kumar is not busy smashing box office records with his exceptional movies, the actor is occupied with providing financial help to the families of martyred soldiers. His love for the Indian Armed Forces isn’t unknown and the fact that Akshay always stands next to the families of jawans, even in times of distress is something we truly love and respect him for. Earlier this year, he suggested the launch of the app and website called ‘Bharat Ke Veer’, which was acknowledged and brought about a positive change almost instantly. He has earlier donated crores to the families and even urged his fans to contribute financially to the cause.

This time around, Akshay helped raise Rs. 6.5 crores at the event for the families of the martyred soldiers. At a conference called, India Rising, the actor made an impromptu speech where he informed the businessmen about this website, a platform where anyone can make the donations. His sincere appeal reached the right ears, which got the CEO and corporate honchos to raise Rs. 6.5 crores for the families of martyred soldiers. Akshay reportedly said, “I just felt like talking about the bharatkeveer initiative because the entire audience comprised high profiled individuals with influence and resources. If they won’t come forward for the cause of our armed forces, who will?”

The actor first spoke about the 112 slain soldiers, whose details are mentioned on the website and stay there till the time the amount of donation to their family does not reach 15 lakh rupees. The 49-year-old further added, “These martyrs belong to various states of India. I said if each corporate or CEO pledged to adopt martyrs of at least one state, we could raise enough funds to remove as many soldiers’ details from the site as possible. I started with volunteering to donate for all martyrs from Maharashtra.” Well, when someone is so passionate about a noble cause, how can one not be moved by it? The actor who was overwhelmed by such a great response said that they raised this huge amount within minutes.

In fact, apart from providing financial aid to the families of martyred, he is also someone who actively works towards creating awareness about social issues, things which have been pulling our society down for the longest time now. His latest release ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and its success is proof of his hard work and efforts.
