Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, who has given us some entertaining films like ‘Queen’, ‘Trapped’, ‘Masaan’, ‘NH10’, and ‘Mukkabaaz’, is back. Bringing a new superhero in town, Motwane introduces us to ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’ starring Harshvardhan Kapoor who dons the lead role in this quirky-action thriller.

Bringing a tale of a vigilante who fights the wrong in a kick-ass style, Kapoor’s movie is very different than our usually Bollywood superhero movies. It’s edgy, dark and gives you hope that this might be the movie that will change the face of B-town’s superhero film.

This is the first time we have come up with our own desi Daredevil but the important question is: Are we ready for this?

The teaser that was released some time ago, reminded us of Netflix’s blockbuster, ‘Daredevil’. And now the trailer just gives us a deeper look into it. We know the comparison is a little too far-fetched, yet we are gonna go ahead with it, because hey, it is close, right?

The makers have also released a new poster of the film, introducing Kapoor in an intriguing avatar which gives us hope that this might be the film that will establish him in the industry.

In a country where we have seen superhero movies like ‘Krrish’, and ‘Flying Jatt’, it’s interesting to see to a new superhero who ain’t like our cliché ones.

The ‘Infinity War’ between the mighty superheroes and the most dangerous villain Thanos has literally hit the box office numbers like never before. The effect of what happened in Wakanda and the Mad Titan was so huge that ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ took over the world by storm and continues to do so.

Pick any Bollywood blockbuster of this year and you will be surprised to see the results. The success has caught everyone’s attention in B-town. Earlier celebrities have even given their voice to some popular Marvel character.  And now they are gearing up for the Indian Avengers.

While this might get many excited, let us tell you this news is giving us nightmares. Or maybe we are just freaking out. Nothing official has been announced yet nor do we know what might happen in ‘Avengers 4’.

And working towards that, Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sidharth Malhotra are seen working hard to take down Thanos! Sharing a video on Instagram, Sidharth, Katrina, and Aditya are seen on a futsal pitch on top of a building. They’ve got some big tyres and are doing some cross-fit workout. But what has actually caught everyone’s attention is the Avengers music playing in the background.

‘102 Not Out’ (4 May 2018)

Back in the 70’s we got some amazing Bollywood movies like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Naseeb’, and ‘Coolie’. Director Manmohan Desai not just gave us some classic films, but at the same time, he gifted us with the ultimate duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor. And now after a gap of 27 years, we will again witness their magic on the silver-screen.

‘102 Not Out’, revolves around a 102-year-old father Dattatraya Vakharia (Bachchan) and his 75-year-old son Babulal (Kapoor). We have always seen plenty of father-son duo stories, but this ageless family comedy is an adaptation of a Gujarati play ‘Saumya Joshi’. Watching them together on-screen brings back some golden memories. If classic Bollywood movies have been your thing then you just can’t miss this!

‘Omerta’ (4 May 2018)

One thing we have realised over the last few years in Bollywood is that one just can’t miss Rajkummar Rao’s movies at any cost. Last year, was all about this talented actor who gave us some amazing films like ‘Trapped’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, and ‘Newton’. And now we have Hansal Mehta’s biographical drama ‘Omerta’ based on the life of terrorist Omar Saeed Shaikh.

Rao as a criminal mastermind is raw & unabashed and that’s the selling point of the movie. The film is based on the life of Ahmad Omar Saeed Shaikh, a British-born terrorist of Pakistani descent, who was freed in exchange for passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines plane in 1999.

The trailer of the film was released some time ago and it was every bit as terrifying yet exhilarating. We have seen Rao as a protagonist but this time we will see him playing an antagonist for the first time. And if that’s not enough for you to watch this film, then we don’t know what will be.

‘Raazi’ (11 May 2018)

If there is one actor in B-town who has shown us different facets of her talents, it is Alia Bhatt. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, ‘Raazi’ is an espionage thriller that has already made it to our must-watch list. Based on the novel ‘Calling Sehmat’ by ex-naval officer Harinder Sikka. The film is a real-life story of a Kashmiri girl who marries a Pakistani officer (Vicky Kaushal), in order to extract intelligence details ahead of the Indo-Pak war. She dug out discrete and sensitive intelligence details that could work in the interest of India and passed it on to the Indian forces. The plot of the film is enough to make one anxious about the rest of the story. 

‘Bhavesh Joshi Superstar’ (25 May 2018)

Known for producing unconventional movies, filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has given us some great films like ‘Queen’, ‘Trapped’, ‘Masaan’, ‘NH10’, ‘Mukkabaaz’ and more. And now he is trying his hand at vigilante drama.

The film ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superstar’ brings Harshvardhan Kapoor as a desi daredevil. At a first glance, the teaser totally reminds us of the Netflix blockbuster, ‘Daredevil’. The action-packed fight sequences, a glow-in-the-dark mask, bikes with turbojets and a cliff-hanger of an end sequence is enticing enough if you’re into superhero movies.

‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ (25 May 2018)

Based on the second nuclear test that was conducted in Pokhran in 1998, John Abraham’s film finally has a release date. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the movie traces the journey of how India achieved the status of being a nuclear power.

Talking about the film, John who will be seen donning the role of an Indian Army officer said, “Our film ‘Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran’ will take audiences on a journey, showcasing the greatest nuclear espionage the world witnessed in 1998. A mission where the Indian Army, scientists, engineers and satellite experts came together to pull off the greatest convert mission of their times.”

February 24, 2018 will always be marked as a black day in the history of Indian cinema. The Kapoors lost their beloved family member and India lost its Chandni. Sridevi, who was known as the first female Superstar of Bollywood, took her last breath in Dubai. The reports of her demise shook the entire nation. The actress was found unconscious in her bathtub by her husband Boney Kapoor. The cause of her death created a lot of speculations. What added more to the controversy was the post-mortem that revealed that the death was caused due to “accidental drowning”. However, whatever actually happened that fateful night will always remain a secret. After an investigation, Sridevi’s mortal remains were released and flown into Mumbai from Dubai on February 27, and a grand funeral took place on February 28. 

Parveen Babi

She was one of the boldest actresses Bollywood had ever witnessed. Doing unconventional stuff and making millions her fan, Praveen Babi had become the first sex symbol of B-town. She was the real example of being successful, but her life was full of complexities and was literally in shambles. It was said that she wasn’t in the best state of her mind and suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. Rumours claim that her mental disorder was the result of her alcoholism and various failed relationships. Living a lonely life, Parveen passed away in 2005 and her body was discovered some days after she died. This thing created the biggest controversial news of 2005, because after all no one knew how she died. She was found lying on the bed after police had to break the door of her terrace and enter her house. It happened when a complaint was filed by her society manager that the newspaper and milk packets had been piling up at her door for three days. What actually happened no one knows, and it still makes us wonder!

90s was the promising year in Bollywood, with talented people making their debut in the industry and taking everyone by surprise. One of those stars was Divya Bharti. Her chirpy presence, beautiful looks and untouched innocence made her the ultimate heartthrob. Her career was going smooth, she was becoming the next big thing, but destiny often has different things in store for us. In 1993, the country lost Divya in a sudden turn of events. There were numerous reports by the media regarding her death,  some claimed it was an accidental death or a suicide and some said it was a murder. It is said that the actress fell from the fifth floor of her Versova apartment in Mumbai that caused her death. On 7 April 1993 her body was released and the same day her funeral took place. Divya was allegedly married to famous producer Sajid Nadiadwala and some claim that her death had a lot to do with her marriage. In 1998 after five years, the police even closed the investigation, but nothing was revealed. 

Nafisa Joseph

Famous VJ and model, Nafisa Joseph apparently hanged herself in her apartment on July 29, 2004. Winner of Miss India 1997 and a finalist of Miss Universe, it is said she was going through a lot of stress and hence committed suicide. Just a few weeks before her death, she had called off her wedding with her fiance, Indian Businessman Gautam Khanduja, when she found out about his first marriage.  

Guru Dutt

The legendary Guru Dutt was a successful director, actor, and producer who gave some classic movies to Bollywood that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’, and ‘Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam’ were a few, to name. It is said that Guru was fighting depression for a long time. In fact, he tried to commit suicide twice before his death. On October 10, 1964, his body was found lifeless in his bed due to an overdose of sleeping pills and alcohol. While many still speculate how he actually died, as per his son it was an accident. “My father had sleeping disorders and popped sleeping pills like any other person. That day he was drunk and had taken an overdose of pills, which culminated in his death. It was a lethal combination of excessive liquor and sleeping pills,” he had told Rediff.

Jiah Khan

There is no one who hasn’t heard about this case till now. On June 3, 2013, the 25-year-old Jiah Khan committed suicide. At the time of interrogation, her mom revealed that Jiah left a note where she gave a brief about how she was tortured and harassed mentally. In fact, her then boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, son of Aditya Pancholi, was blamed for the entire thing and he was arrested and booked for the suicide. However, later forensic reports revealed that Jiah was actually under the influence of alcohol when she took her own life. A bad career and a miserable relationship are blamed for her tragic ending.

Top model at one time, Viveka Babajee’s death was full of mystery. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her house. During the investigation, the police found a diary which said ‘I Kill’. It was said a fight with her boyfriend led her to take this road.
