Admit it, most of us have a Netflix subscription with an undying hope that we’ll binge watch something over the weekend. However, most Saturdays and Sundays go away in sleeping, procrastinating, avoiding the laptop screen and adding goodies to your online shopping cart. Diwali is approaching and so is a long weekend. Here’s a list of ten horror flicks you can watch over the weekend while you ‘Netflix and chill’ on the couch with a box full of Diwali mithai:

1. The Devil’s Candy

A family full of metal heads stuck under the roof of a demonic house make a good combination. The story follows a struggling painter who has been plagued by Satanic forces and his family is pulled into it.

2. Hush

A horror movie that shall pique your interest for sure. The protagonist is a deaf writer hibernating in the woods, and there’s a creepy killer on the loose. What is not to be liked about this mind twisting horror flick?

3. A Dark Song

A dark movie just like the title. A young woman is grieving her dead son who was murdered by a group after he was taken away for an occult ritual. She gets adventurous and gets an occultist on board to summon her son, and then… stuff happens. Bad stuff.

4. Clown

This one is directed by Jon Watts, the brain behind ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’. Clown films are the ‘it’ thing in the horror genre right now as we all know. The story follows a real estate agent who finds a clown suit in a house, decides to wear it for a kid’s party, only to realise that he cannot take it off now. Please stop laughing! It’s scary AF!

5. Sleepy Hollow

Johny Depp is reason number one to watch it. Secondly, the story is a take on Washington Irving’s 1820 short story. A constable is sent to examine the murders in the ‘sleeping hollow’.

6. The Void

It involves a hospital which is like a gateway to hell and everyone in there is trapped. Oh, and please add cult figurines in cloaks smirking around to add to the spookiness. Boo!

7. Baskin

It’s a Turkish surreal horror flick centred on a group of cops who face violent and gory situations when they answer a call for a crime scene. A lot of plots are entwined together and it might be a turn off for some, but it makes you want to know what happens next. Pure gore central.

8. The Babadook

If you have watched it already…just watch it again. But if you belong to the other category which is still ignorant to the existence of this movie, then don’t.miss.it. Babadook is an evil spirit unleashed from a children’s book while the mother tries very hard to keep her sanity intact as she deals with the situation in her house with her son.

9. The Sixth Sense

Trust M.Night Shyamalan’s brilliance to cater you a great watch. The film follows Cole, a young boy who can see and talk to the dead.

10. The Den

This movie might make you wanna cover your webcam! It’s a found footage horror film. Elizabeth is logged into a webcam based media site called ‘The Den’ and decides to chat with random strangers for her project.  Eventually her camera is hacked and she is recorded in a lot of events while her laptop is still turned on. Who is this stranger forcing contact and what happens next is what this millennial horror flick deals with.

Perhaps one of the most heavily advertised Marvel Studios franchise, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is setting excitement fever ticking on high, ever since the trailer and teaser were dropped and people literally lost it.

In the latest instalment, Thor has been held captive on0QwXMRHg another planet without his hammer ‘Mjolnir’ and has to return to his world of Asgard in order to stop supervillain Hela and the doomed Ragnarok. However, in order to do so, he has to fight Hulk and THAT is the challenge.

The craving for the release is increasing by the minute and while fans await the November release, Marvel has been tantalising poor souls by throwing around casual videos which are basically adding fuel to the fire. The latest TV spot that was released shows Thor in a gladiatorial battle with Hulk. Cate Blanchett looks fantastic as Hela who represents death and is furiously hell bent on wiping out Asgard.

The stellar star cast includes Tom Hiddleton as ‘Loki’, Chris Hemsworth as ‘Thor’, Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘Dr. Strange’ and of course you’ll see a lot of Tessa Thompson.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ was dope! The action was awesome. The visuals were insane and it was extremely funny. Top 5 marvel movie. #ThorRagnarok

— Geeks Of Color (@GeeksOfColor) October 11, 2017

#ThorRagnarok is stunningly fun and hilarious! A modern-but-maybe-even-better Bukaroo Banzai/Flash Gordon! Splashy, colorful awesomeness!

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) October 11, 2017

THOR RAGNAROK is hilarious & weird & offbeat & retro & sublime. Love how Marvel let Taika Waititi make a movie that’s Waititi-ish as hell.

— Kevin Polowy (@djkevlar) October 9, 2017

If you are a fan, then the decision is obvious for you to watch it. The wait is soon going to be over, so stay strong and wait for it. It’s going to be glorious!

Stephen King’s novels and movie adaptations have a cult following which very few writers have managed to create. ‘The Shining’, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, and ‘The Green Mile’ are just few stellar examples of his brilliance. ‘It’ was a massive hit when it made its debut which is still breaking all records on the screen and is possibly a major influence for every clown themed horror show or a movie that came after that.

Keeping his brilliance in mind, an upcoming show that’s been made for Hulu is already floating high on the charts.  Titled as ‘Castle Rock’, the show has been inspired by his writings and looks to connect the worlds of his works (if you are a fan who has exhausted all the log of the movies and books, this is for you especially), and takes cues from the vast library of his writing. Castle Rock was the hometown of Andy Dufresne from ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ and the setting for stories such as ‘The Dead Zone’, ‘Cujo’ and ‘Needful Things’.  It’s a horror anthology and the trailer is creeping people already.

The plotting of the story looks similar to ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Fargo’. The show stars BillSkarsgard, Sissy Spacek, Scott Glenn, Jane Levy and André Holland.

According to reports, the series “combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.”

The series is being worked up David Thompson and Sam Shaw (The Master Of Sex fame). Much of the plot is led into secrecy, but that’s how one would want to savour it. There’s also Sissy Spacek who was seen in “Carrie”. Talking about familiar faces, well there are quite a few. Melanie Lynske is Molly Strand, a real agent with a rare condition, Bill ‘Pennywise’ Skarsgard is there obviously, in a new creepy avatar.

The series is coming from the Warner Bros. studio and is scheduled to release in 2018. It might not be written by King himself, but the interconnected universe morphed with horror awaits everyone for a sheer visual feast.

When we search for a movie to watch, besides looking at the trailer, we always insist on checking the rating of the movie. We are guessing you do the same, right? Now, we have a little something that should perk your inner movie buff. The blood soaked corporate satire, ‘Mayhem’, has earned a full 100% rating on ‘Rotten Tomatoes’. The set up is a law firm which has been plagued with a virus and people are now quarantined. It turns into a battle for survival as people have to kill each other in order to live.

Mayhem Has A 100% Rotten Tomatoes Rating© Circle Of Confusion

Joe Lynch is a pretty famous indie filmmaker who reprises his smart storytelling again with this one. Steven Yuen of ‘The Walking Dead’ fame plays one of the lead characters, who, when the situation strikes, uses the opportunity to smash all the people he hates in that firm. He teams up with a client (Samara Weaving), who is harbouring her own grudges, and together they decide to seek the ultimate revenge and settle their score. It’s basically a fully blown showdown of catharsis.

‘Mayhem’ is already winning accolades for showcasing such gruesome cluster of emotions in such a way. Matias Caruso seems to have done a good job while writing this horror/action adventure. It seems like onscreen killing would come naturally to Steven, from fighting zombies in ‘Walking Dead’ to killing off bosses in this one. Many people are calling it the ultimate corporate satire as well.

Mayhem Has A 100% Rotten Tomatoes Rating© circle of confusion

The movie also stars Steven Brand, Caroline Chikezie, Dallas Roberts, Mark Frost, and Andre Erikson. We have mostly been accustomed to watching people being killed in action or zombie movies, this genre remains unexplored and if you have some pent up frustration in your heart and boiling away in your veins, then maybe this is your moment for ‘catharsis’.

While we hope the movie is as kick-ass as the trailer makes it look like, ‘Mayhem’ will clearly depict the corporate culture like no other movie has ever done. The movie releases today in the West, and at present there is no idea about the release date for Indian theatres.

The trailer of ‘Padmavati’ dropped yesterday setting off an unprecedented explosion and even after 24 hours, it’s still the only thing that is ticking in B-town.

Interestingly, the focus was less on ‘Padmavati’ and more on the handsome, brooding men, Shahid and Ranveer. At present it seems like the entire nation is blown away by the intense and crazy-eyed ‘Khilji’, as replay buttons are being brutally abused only to watch Ranveer’s piercing eyes.

Of course, comparisons are only natural and Ranveer sure does look like he’s trying to tap his inner ‘Khal Drogo’.

The trailer has done its job of boggling our minds and while the views continue to keep increasing, we are confident that this is going to being Ranveer’s best work ever. It was even revealed that he had to consult a therapist to help him get out of the mindset of ‘Khilji’, clearly proving that this role will redefine his career.

Blownnnnnnnn away by the #PadmavatiTrailer !!!!! Noooo words!!!!! Epic epic epic @shahidkapoor @deepikapadukone @RanveerOfficial !!!!!

Ranveer has owned the internet with his dramatic, crazy look and being the humble bee that he is, a heartfelt letter from his end was out there in no time.

The movie is all set for a December 1st release and we can already predict all the awards flowing towards Ranveer. At this point we can only wonder if there is anyone else in the industry who has a chance of competing with that level of brilliance. Keep thinking about it….while we go watch the trailer AGAIN!

You and I are stuck under the umbrella term of a ‘millennial’, something which we proudly brag about, and other times conveniently discard to ignore the perception attached with it. So the world of the internet has opened new doors for everything and that also includes a new way of dating. In the age of dating apps and speedy romance, ‘Newness’ is a movie which looks extremely relatable at many levels. Two people, meet through an app, and sparks fly quickly.

The Trailer Of ‘Newness' Shows A Poignant Dissection Of Love In The Internet Age© YouTube

But love is not always enough, right? They end up in an open relationship and while they think it’s all chill, it’s actually not because insecurities crawl in. Martin (Nicholas Hoult) and Gabi (Laia Costa) try hard to understand that it’s pretty screwed up for them.

The director of the movie is the same man who gave us ‘Like Crazy’, a movie about distant lovers and the problems they face. Drake Doremus seems to have done a great job in showing the reality.

Looks like Bollywood will finally show us a good crime thriller after a long hiatus. The trailer of ‘Ittefaq’ was released a while ago and yes, it totally looks the kind that we want to watch. Remember the good old crime stories like ‘Talash’, ‘Ajnabee’ and even ‘Kahaani’? Now that’s the kind of genre we are talking about.

The trailer begins with the classic interrogatory line, ‘Toh hua kya kal raat ko’?

He was accused of a crime he did not commit! Wait for his version….his story…..#Ittefaq on 3rd NOV! @S1dharthM @sonakshisinha #akshaye pic.twitter.com/kH8kQ0vFsC

— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) October 4, 2017

The movie stars Sidharth Malhotra as a crime suspect who has probably murdered his own wife and also Sonakshi Sinha’s husband. The latter is also a prime suspect and the trailer shows two sides of the same story.

She is accused of killing her husband…but did she? Wait for her version…her story! #Ittefaq 3rd NOV @S1dharthM @sonakshisinha #akshaye pic.twitter.com/SP3BIaMEE5

— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) October 4, 2017

However, the best part of the trailer is Akshaye Khanna as the sharp and fierce cop who trusts no one and suspects everyone.

He trusts no one and suspects everyone! He only wants the TRUTH!  #Ittefaq #3rdNOV @S1dharthM @sonakshisinha #akshaye pic.twitter.com/imFSSlADBL

— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) October 4, 2017

The film is a co-production between Dharma Productions, Red Chillies Entertainment and BR films.

The movie marks the debut of Abhay Chopra as a director and the interesting part is that it is apparently an adaptation of the Yash Chopra film that goes by the same name.

My fav films by Yashji #Ittefaq is being recreated by Abhay. Thx  @S1dharthM  @sonakshisinha Akshaye. Also BR & Dharma Films tie up with RCE

— Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) February 20, 2017

Will the movie live up to its hype of being a modern day remake? Only time will tell. The movie is all set to hit screens on November 3rd.

Most people of our generation have given up watching TV and it’s not even surprising anymore. We have Netflix when we chill in bed, we stream everything on our laptops, we save movies to our iPads for that long cab drive and basically screens have replaced the good old binge watching TV on the couch, with a wonderful plate of fries while our parents sat with us watching ‘Malgudi Days’. Save heart, for our favourite dramas from the 90s are all set to make a comeback in our lives.

I don’t mean to say that they are being remade, but what I mean is that they will be available for our viewing real soon. Remember those days of watching DD and witnessing some great storylines with no scheming ‘saas bahu’ drama or no ‘Crime Patrol’ being shoved into our eyes. I am talking about shows like ‘Circus’, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ and even ‘Fauji’ which catapulted Shah Rukh to fame.

Dd Channel Series Will Now Be Available Online© Doordarshan

“Some material from the archives has been put on our official website for sale. The next step is to be able to syndicate some of the popular content and make them available through on-demand platforms like Hotstar, Netflix and Amazon Prime. We have set up a separate social media team that has been asked to individually reply to those writing to us on Facebook or Twitter. Live updates of events, matches or shows are now being done that has made a lot of difference”, said Shashi Shekhar Vempadi, CEO of Prasar Bharti.  We want to watch things at our convenience and having nostalgia available on Netflix or Hotstar would guarantee a visual treat. DD is currently going through a major revamp and is redesigning all social media strategies. After all, old is gold right?

Bollywood churns out movies by the minute if you start counting the numbers, but very few make it to the top. Then there are some movies which you already know will make it big once they see the light of the day. Here’s a list of upcoming movies in 2018 that will keep the cash register ringing and make the fans happy.

1.Chanda Mama Door Ke- Creative as the title may sound, the movie is not a kid’s movie. This movie will have Sushant Singh Rajput play an astronaut, along with Nawazuddin and Madhavan in pivotal roles. Sushant is preparing since long now and even went to NASA to get additional training for the role. Will this be our answer to an ‘Insterstellar’ or ‘Gravity’? Only time will tell.

2.The Sanjay Dutt biopic- So much buzz has been generated that it’s already a hit in the eyes of many. A great actor’s biopic being played by a super fine actor Ranbir Kapoor, so very few things can wrong with this one.

3.Padman- Trust Akshay Kumar to make feel-good movies which resonate a strong social message in it. After impressing the audience and critics alike with his latest release ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, Akshay Kumar is gearing up to release yet another film based on a social issue titled ‘Padman’. Akshay’s character in the film is based on that of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who created the first low-cost machine for making sanitary napkins. R.Balki is directing it and two strong women, Twinkle Khanna and Gauri Shinde are producing it. The hopes are pretty high for this one.

3.Kedarnath- It will mark the debut of Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif and Amrita. She has been cast opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and Abhishek Kapoor is directing this one. The storyline has not been made public yet but rumour has it that Sushant is playing a tour guide near Kedarnath and she is a tourist.

Dan Bilzerian’s larger than life paints a rosy picture for his massive fan following. Lot of men envy him for various reasons and even resonate a ‘perfect’ life with him.

Hosting @cowboyscalgary on July 12 w my Eskimo bro @diplo

A post shared by Dan Bilzerian (@danbilzerian) on Jul 10, 2017 at 2:05pm PDT

However amidst all of this larger-than-life world that he has been building over the years, there have been times that his innocuous actions have met some ridiculous consequences. In an interview, he disclosed a rather dark tale of an incident which now sounds like it was a passing ‘oh my god’ thing, but if you analyse it, it is pretty dark. Dan revealed that due to an overdose of Viagra and binging hard on cocaine and booze, he suffered two heart attacks. The surprising part is that he immediately thought that push ups were the cure!

What’s even murkier is the bizarre fact that he was only 25 years old. It’s things like these which are learning lessons for fans who believe that celebrities have it all sorted, while the reality is that they are kinda messed up at a very basic level. Well, guess that even Dan Bilzerian’s life comes with a “conditions apply” sign.
