Mum about directorial duties, Pooja Bhatt says Sadak 2 with Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt in the works

After months of speculations, it was revealed late last year that Mahesh Bhatt was indeed planning a sequel to Sadak (1991) with Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt reprising their roles. There was also talk about Alia Bhatt joining the duo. Now, we hear, the script has been finalised and the film will roll early next year in all likelihood.

A trade source says that while the makers were keen on shooting the sequel this year, it had to be pushed due to Alia’s chock-a-block date diary. The source also hints that though Dutt has loved the script, he hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet. “Sadak 2 has been written for Sanjay Dutt keeping his earlier character, Ravi, in mind. While Sanju is looking forward to working with Pooja and Bhatt saab again, his remuneration is still under consideration. Once that is finalised, they will announce the film.”

While buzz suggests that Pooja is all set to helm the sequel, the next few weeks will see the Bhatts taking a call on the matter. “Though Mohit Suri is in contention, Bhatt saab is keen that Pooja direct the film. It will be interesting to see her act in, and direct the movie as well.”

When mid-day reached out to Pooja Bhatt, she was tight-lipped about the possibility of directing Sadak 2: “I can’t say it’s true neither can I say it’s untrue. All I can say right now is that we roll in February, 2019, and it will be a start-to-finish schedule,” she said.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, the grandchild of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, says nepotism does not exist in the Indian film industry

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, the grandchild of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, says nepotism does not exist in the Indian film industry. The actress was present at The India Today Conclave 2018 along with her sister Karishma Kapoor on Saturday. In a conversation with journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, she was asked if nepotism exists in the film industry.

Kareena replied: “There are so many superstars from yesteryears and not all of their children are a superstar. If nepotism exists, they would have been a big star by now.”

“The fact that Ranveer Singh has become the new superstar of Bollywood who does not come from a film family proves the fact that they become superstar out of their sheer talent and hard work. Nepotism does not exist,” she said.

“I think it is about the talent that takes you where you go. When you are on-screen, anybody can make or break you; anyone can make a judgment on you irrespective of you are a daughter or grandchildren of someone,” said Karishma.

“And for a youngster who has a huge family and legacy behind, is much tough to make a mark,” she added.

While they were countered by Sardesai that “but Kangana (Ranaut, actress) said otherwise”, Karishma said: “People can have their opinion and we should respect each opinion.”

There is a “solid direction” in place already for Black Panther 2, says Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige. The original “Black Panther” movie, which stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa and his titular alter-ego, may have only just hit screens in February, but Feige has confirmed a sequel will be coming too, reports ew.com.

When asked what he could reveal about Black Panther 2, the 44-year-old: “Nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that.”

“One of the favourite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first ‘Black Panther’. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one,” he added.

Black Panther is among the first films by the house of Marvel Studios which predominantly has a black cast and also shows a number of strong women of substance who work as the protagonist T’Challa’s allies.

Set shortly after Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther shows T’Challa returning home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to become king.

Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Black Panther also features Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B Jordon, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Forest Whittaker and Martin Freeman, among others.

After Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s name cropped up for allegedly spying on his wife, the actor has dismissed these as “random allegations”

After Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s name cropped up for allegedly spying on his wife, the actor has dismissed these as “random allegations”.

“Last evening, I was helping my daughter to prepare her school project Hydroelectric Power Generator and went to her school this morning for Project Exhibition. To my surprise, the media had questions about some random allegations on me. #Disgust,” Nawazuddin tweeted on Saturday morning.

The acclaimed award-winning actor has been accused of spying on his wife. His name cropped up after the Thane police’s Crime Branch nabbed 11 persons, mainly private detectives, who were involved in the Call Detail Records (CDR) scam.

According to statements by some of the accused, Siddiqui had allegedly acquired CDRs of his wife’s phone through an advocate by hiring a private sleuth to keep an eye on her contacts and whereabouts.

The police on Friday said Nawazuddin has not responded to police summons in this matter.

Tiger Shroff is a complete hero, says choreographer-turned-filmmaker Ahmed Khan, who has helmed the actor’s forthcoming film Baaghi 2

Tiger Shroff is a complete hero, says choreographer-turned-filmmaker Ahmed Khan, who has helmed the actor’s forthcoming film “Baaghi 2”. Khan spoke about it at the launch of &TV’s dance reality show “High-Fever” on Friday.

“I haven’t done much choreography since the last one year, but as a choreographer or as a director, I think I see Tiger Shroff right now as a hero. Because you ask him to dance, he is ready, tell him to do action, he does it out of his limits, for a bare body shot he is ready in five minutes because he is always fit,” Khan said.

He also said Tiger’s fans will see his transformation in “Baaghi”. “Look-wise, there is a transformation in him. I asked him for a haircut, and he was ready. He is an actor who is a complete hero. Whether it is songs, action, acting or anything, he is ready. I think Tiger Shroff is complete in terms of everything. Of course, there are Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh… these are the boys who are ready to go,” Khan added.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala had announced “Baaghi 3” even before the “Baaghi 2” trailer had come out. Khan said he is overwhelmed by the confidence of the producer. On the pressure for “Baaghi 3”, he said: “Its announcement took place even before the trailer release and it came from a producer like Sajid Nadiadwala, who is the number one producer in Bollywood right now. So, the amount of confidence he has on me and Tiger (Shroff), we’re overwhelmed with it.

“He told us one thing, ‘See, you have taken the action level to such a level in ‘Baaghi 2’, now you have to take the action on a higher level. We have started preparations to create something very interesting and nice for the audience in ‘Baaghi 3’. I am sure we will come victorious because audience support is tremendous.”

For now, he is focussed on the forthcoming release of “Baaghi 2”. “The action that people have seen in the trailer is just 25 per cent of what’s in the film. Once you watch the film, it is completely different,” Khan said.

“Baaghi 2” also stars Disha Patani, and will release on March 30.
