hritik_sanjayOn Flashback Friday today, we bring to you a story that’s not known to many.

Hrithik Roshan’s former father-in-law and veteran actor Sanjay Khan had beaten his then girlfriend, Zeenat Aman black and blue.

Unbelievable? Right? Even we were shocked when we heard about it. But, unfortunately it’s true and no action was taken against Sanjay Khan.

It so happened, Sanjay fell in love with Zeenat Aman on the sets of the film “Abdullah”. It wasn’t how it all looked on the forefront. Zeenat, who was a diva and the woman of every man’s dream, didn’t receive a good treatment from her own man.

Reports of 1980 reveal the horryfying story of the fateful night when Sanjay had beaten Zeenat very badly and the on-lookers did nothing to help the poor actress.

The story goes by: Zeenat was shooting in Lonavala and that’s when she got a call from angry Sanjay who ordered her to everything and reshoot a portion of a song in “Abdullah” that had already been shot. When she reasoned that she had already given her dates to another film, he accused her of being sexually involved with the other film-makers.

Upon hearing this, the diva could not hold back herself back and she immediately left the sets and headed straight for Sanjay’s home in Mumbai. When she reached at his residence, she got to know that he was at a party in Taj Hotel. She then reached the five-star hotel to discuss the her dates and also solve the queries that Sanjay had.

The moment she arrived at the party, “the atmosphere there suddenly turned cold and menacing.” She found Sanjay in an intoxicated state and he then yelled her and asked her why she came to the hotel, while his (Sanjay’s) wife Zarine Khan sneered. The actress then said that she had to return to Lonavala and resume her shoot.

Upon hearing this, Sanjay dragged her to the adjoining room and started beating her and everytime she fell he would drag her by her hair and continue his animal wrath. Zarine entered the room upon hearing the voices and instead of stopping her husband she cheered him, “Give the bitch what she deserves,” she shouted, and she too started attacking Zeenat.

Everyone present at the party was aware of what was happening but no one came to her help. Lastly, a steward mustered the courage and rescued Zeenat who by that time had blood and tears all over her face. The actress then took medical help and the doctor advised her complete bed rest. It took her more than eight day to recover from this beating.

The doctor who was treating the actress, revealed to the noted publication, “This is not the first time this man has beaten her. Once before she was given a black eye and kicked in the ribs so hard that I insisted on an X-Ray for fear of a crack.”

Even after all this, she didn’t file any police complaint against Sanjay as she was still madly in love with him.

Little did they know that this happy picture would invite a lot of flak to them, especially Jhanvi Kapoor. The comments trolled her for celebrating her birthday given that her mother recently passed away. They read:

null

While some of the comments did talk positively about the celebration by saying that, ‘Hey guys they r also sensitive people like us… It’s just they r trying to feel janhvi kapoor happy… More than us she is in pain… If today her mother had been alive she also wanted the same na… So stop commenting… Where ever sridevi mam is she will be happy after seeing this that her daughter is Atleast trying to be happy…’ But major comments were trolling her.

varunShoojit Sircar’s “October” which is a story of a very different shade of love had the actors go through drills to be able to perform their roles with utmost honesty.

Varun Dhawan who will be seen playing the lead character in the film was asked to not sleep for an entire week to be able to look a certain way for his character in the film.

Shoojit, who is known to keep his movies authentic, wanted Varun to look as natural as possible and not use makeup. For a few scenes in the film, he wanted Varun to look sombre, for which he instructed him to not sleep for a few days or have minimum sleep of an hour or two every day for a week. Varun without hesitation followed the directors vision and what translated on camera was spectacular.

The film has already gained immense anticipation with the distinct movie telling which the director has crafted for us again with Varun Dhawan to be seen in a very different avatar.

Shoojit Sircar shares, “Yes I usually do this with many of my actors, used this during “Pink” as well. A couple of scenes with Varun required extensive emotional burstouts, a performance that showed him quite exhausted..depth and weight in his overall demeanour and eyes, coupled with a tired voice, so i asked him to not sleep at night prior to the scenes.”

The makers will be launching the trailer of the film early next week.

Produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar, “October” stars Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu. A Rising Sun Films Production, directed by Shoojit Sircar the film is set to release on 13th April 2018.

sridevi_jhanviSridevi is no more. It’s been five days since she breathed her last, on February 24, 2018. As we try to come to grips with her tragic passing away, throwback videos and pictures of the actress have been going viral on the internet, which only makes us miss the icon dearly. Sridevi’s untimely death shook the entire nation, including her friends from the industry, some of whom she had met in the recent past. Condolence messages still continue to pour in for Boney Kapoor, his two young daughters and the Kapoor family. Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Madhuri Dixit, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone lent their support to the Kapoors in their grieving time and even Salman Khan made it a point that he paid his last respects to the legendary actress soon after her mortal remains were brought to Dubai.

Years ago, Salman Khan had hosted Sridevi and Boney Kapoor on his show 10 Ka Dum 3. The team of Wanted, starring Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia, directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Boney Kapoor, had come on Salman’s show to promote the then-upcoming film. As the show unfolds, Boney Kapoor revealed all that he had to go through before he proposed to Sridevi and got her to say yes. He told Salman that it took him 10 years to muster the courage to confess his love to the actress and that he was passionately love in with her but it was one-sided until the yesteryear diva accepted his proposal. With a blushing Sridevi beside him, Boney also adds that he had lost 20-22 kgs but he gained weight all because of Sridevi’s love and affection

In the latter part of the video clip, Salman Khan questions everyone, Prabhu Deva, Ayesha Takia, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, if they believe that marriages are made in heaven. While the Prabhu Deva and Ayesha agree, he then asks Sridevi’s beautiful daughters Janhvi and Khushi the same question. Khushi is seen replying as saying, “I don’t know” but it is Janhvi’s response which bowls over Khan. She says, “I know Mom’s and Dad’s is made in heaven.” Janhvi’s revelation about her parents’ marriage will definitely bring tears to your eyes at the current time.

kamal_srideviThey may have been one of the most romantic pairs on screen, but Kamal Haasan and late female superstar Sridevi shared a bond like that of siblings. “Sridevi en thangachi (Sridevi was my younger sister),” Haasan said, decades after he was paired opposite Sridevi in a number of Tamil films such as ‘Guru’, ‘Varumayin Niram Sivappu’, ‘Vaazhve Maayam’ and ‘Moondram Pirai’, the last one being also remade as Hindi classic ‘Sadma’ in 1983.

Sridevi, who died of accidental drowning in her hotel bath tub in Dubai last week, captured millions of hearts across India as a Bollywood diva. She had started her career in Tamil cinema industry, besides doing some Telugu films. She later moved to Mumbai to enjoy a successful career in Hindi cinema. Writing in the concluding part of his weekly series in Tamil magazine ‘Ananda Vikatan,’ Haasan, now a politician, said he was revealing the nature of his bond with the late Sridevi as he does not stand the risk of his “market” getting affected now.

“Those days, couples (at weddings) were compared to us, saying they looked like Kamal and Sridevi. They must have seen us singing duets and hugging. We hid the truth (about the nature of the relationship) so as to not shatter that dream,” he said. Drawing parallels with the children donning the roles of god couples Murugan-Valli or Krishna-Rukmini in plays, Haasan said the boy playing the said roles would often describe the girl as ‘thangachi’, meaning younger sister.

“Me and Sridevi were like one such annan-thangachi (brother and sister),” he added. Indicating that people in the industry had a fair idea about this, Haasan said he was asked not to speak about it “since you are being celebrated as a couple.” Haasan said after doing three films together with her, he was in the mindset of “Sridevi again?” for another script, adding that she herself could have shared similar thoughts. But none consulted the two and “they (apparently the producers and directors) decided “that the two will pair opposite each other,” he said, adding, after a point of time, “all heroes desired to act with her.”

“If our acting was watched keenly, we would look like siblings. One could find resemblance of myself in her acting,” he said. During the course of their career, Sridevi would often seek Haasan’s opinions on her films and would patiently listen to his criticism. While she did not dub in her voice in her first two Hindi films, she did so in her third project, Haasan recalled. The deceased actor “became Sridevi by sheer hard work,” he said, and pointed out to her commitment. Expressing sadness over the death of his one-time co-star, he said many senior women actors had called him up and cried following the death of the 54-year-old actor.

Ranbir-Kapoor-Anushka-SharmaClover Wootton, who designed the eerie look for actor Anushka Sharma in “Pari”, says she once lied about the actor’s role to Ranbir Kapoor. Clover, who is also working on the Dutt biopic with Ranbir, decided to trick the star into believing that his “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” co-actor was playing the character of a dog woman in the upcoming movie.

“Given that I’m working on The Sanjay Dutt biopic and Anushka being a very good friend of Ranbir, she had anticipated that he will be asking about ‘Pari’. Between us we decided to plan a prank on him. We decided to fill him in with some lies and see how far the story goes…

“So when Ranbir asked me about ‘Pari’, I told him that Anushka is playing a dog woman – half human and half dog. I went on to tell him how much she is working towards getting into her character, and how she is observing Dude (her pet dog) to get it all right,” the look designer said in a statement. Clover said she and Anushka let Ranbir be under the false impression, which resulted in her “Sui Dhaaga” co-star Varun Dhawan also falling prey to the Chinese whispers.

“After giving all that nonsense, we let Ranbir stew. After, four or five months, Anushka and I met again for ‘Sui Dhaaga’, which stars Varun Dhawan. And, the first thing he asked her was – ‘I heard you are playing a dog in ‘Pari’, how’s that going?’ “We still laugh our hearts out thinking about where it came from!” she added. Produced by Clean Slate Films and presented by KriArj Entertainment and Kyta Productions, “Pari” releases tomorrow. The movie, directed by Prosit Roy, will be released worldwide by Pooja Films.

Jacky-ShroffGood looks and charm can do wonders to an actor’s career in Bollywood. Jackie Shroff is blessed with both, and his rough looks seem to have quite an effect on women.

In the upcoming episode of BFFs with Vogue on Colors Infinity, the much-loved man of the ladies from B-town, Jackie Shroff exudes his charm. Managing to always plant a blush on every woman’s face, he admitted to having crushes on Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, and Dimple Kapadia, while he worked with them in multiple movies.

During the shoot of the show, Jackie Shroff flirted with Juhi Chawla and Neha Dhupia with much ease, which unintentionally skewed their attention towards the handsome hunk. We surely know why he was one of the favourite co-stars for a number of Bollywood beauties.

Also talking about a scene with his favourite male pair – Anil Kapoor, wherein, he had to take 17 slaps from Shroff in the 1989 film Parinda. Speaking of that scene, Jackie said that regardless of the shot being approved by the film’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anil kept asking for retakes as he wanted to make sure everything was perfect.
Jackie said: “I gave him 17 slaps but didn’t give it so hard that he would fall.”

The actors have also featured together in films like Ram Lakhan, 1942: A Love Story and Kabhi Na Kabhi.

CNN News18 film critic Rajeev Masand assembled six of Bollywood’s most talented actors, each of whom had a major standout moment last year for the Breakouts Roundtable. Meher Vij (Secret Superstar), Pankaj Tripathi (Newton), Seema Pahwa (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan), Vikrant Massey (A Death in the Gunj), Shweta Tripathi (Haraamkhor), and Manav Kaul (Tumhari Sulu) spoke candidly about their long road to recognition, the difference between actors and stars, the frustration of being overlooked for parts because they aren’t “commercial” enough, and about the joy of giving a good shot.
