If cinema is the heart of India, music is its soul. While the actors portraying different roles take us to a new world each time we watch a movie, it’s the songs and the voices behind them that makes all the difference in the world. 

While there are brilliant actors in Bollywood, there are few gifted ones with multiple talents. Most of the actors have their trusted playback singers giving them the on-screen voice, making that song our favourite. 

But a few actors in the industry have broken out of this style to showcase their own talent when it comes to music. Being good at one thing is great, but what if you were brilliant in the other one too? Bringing you a list of actors who can act, dance AND sing, proving nothing is impossible for them.

1. Amitabh Bachchan

Just like Bollywood starts with his name, this list has to begin with Amitabh Bachchan’s name as well. He is someone whose voice one can never be forgotten. One of Senior Bachchan’s first songs is a cult classic, ‘Rang Barse’. Can anyone imagine celebrating Holi without this song? 

Just like his acting, he has given a range of songs that are unforgettable. Remember Rozana from ‘Nishabd’? A song that showed us a very different side of B-Big. But our all-time favourite is his pop video song ‘Ek Rahen Eer, Ek Rahen Beer’ that literally took India by a storm. Only if every man could have this incredible baritone! 

2. Priyanka Chopra

Taking the world by a storm, Priyanka Chopra is the ultimate example of queen bee ruling the glamour world! From acting to singing, she has made her place everywhere. While it’s been a while since we have seen her in Bollywood, we got to admit that the desi diva is kicking some ass in Hollywood, making India proud. What started with ‘In My City’, Priyanka has come a long way and given us some amazing songs. 

While we totally love her English singles, it is her song ‘Chaoro’ from Mary Kom that is the real deal. 

And have you heard her Marathi song ‘Baba’? If not, you are truly missing something brilliant!

3. Shah Rukh Khan

Not just the Baadshah of Bollywood, this man is a real king in all senses. He rules the screen, he rules millions of heart, has one of the biggest fan following and boy he can even sing. Remember the popular track ‘Apun Bola’ from Josh, it was sung by none other than SRK.

And how can we ever forget the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan Poem’, he is the best B-town will ever have!

4. Farhan Akhtar

‘Meri Laundry ka Ek bill’ is a song that will never leave our memories. The credit for this classic creation goes to Farhan Akhtar. He is a talent hub! Be it acting, directing, singing, playing instruments, he can do it all man!

His voice always makes us admire him even more. One song by him that every person must hear is a wonderful composition by Farhan and Big B from ‘Wazir’ named ‘Yaari’. 

5. Alia Bhatt

Not only has she proved that she can kill it on-screen with her exceptional acting performance, but she can also impress every soul with her voice. Alia did her singing debut with Oscar-winning musician, A.R Rahman, in Highway. Well, what else could an actor-singer ever demand for? This was that one song that made it to everyone’s playlist!

Beautiful Alia has a wonderful voice that touches your soul, if she ever thinks about changing her profession, she just knows what she can do!

6. Aamir Khan

Mr. Perfection isn’t just a great actor, but a lot more than that. From producing some brilliant films to rocking it even in singing, he is a true blue star! 

Whatever he touches turns to gold. ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ in ‘Ghulam’ and ‘Bum Bum Bole’ in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ are proof this man can do it all and do it with excellence.

7. Ayushmann Khurrana

Pani Da Rang, a song from ‘Vicky Donor’, is a piece that one can hear anywhere, anytime. This beautiful song was sung by none other than Ayushmann Khurrana. Anything said about this track is less, it’s so beautiful. 

And then came Nazm Nazm from ‘Bareilly ki Barfi’, a heartfelt song that just made us love him even more. This ‘Roadies’ winner who rose to fame without any godfather, has made his place in B-town with his hard work and faith.

8. Diljit Dosanjh

There is no home in Punjab that isn’t familiar with Diljit Dosanjh. The actor who already rules North India made his mark in Hindi cinema with ‘Udta Punjab’. He wasn’t just loved for his acting but the song Ik Kudi was an instant hit.

Since then there has been no looking back for Diljit. From ‘Phillauri’ to ‘Noor’, he has been topping the chartbuster list every time. While he is still making his place in B-town, he already has a huge fan following abroad where he is seen travelling and performing quite often. 

The actor played Prince Philip in the first two seasons of the Netflix royal drama The Crown

Matt Smith

Actor Matt Smith has opened up about the news that he was paid more than his The Crown counterpart Claire Foy, saying he supports her. He also said that the show’s producers have now ‘made amends’ for the gender pay gap. The actor spoke about the issue on Sunday at the world premiere of his new biopic Mapplethorpe at the Tribeca Film Festival, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

“Claire is one of my best friends, and I believe that we should be paid equally and fairly and there should be equality for all,” Smith said. “I support her completely and I’m pleased that it was resolved and they made amends for it because that what’s needed to happen. Going forward, I think we should all bear in mind that we need to strive to make this better and a more even playing field for everyone involved — but not just in our industry, in all industries.”

The actor played Prince Philip in the first two seasons of the Netflix royal drama. It’s unclear what Smith was referring to when he said Netflix and producers Sony Pictures Television Production had “made amends”.

Assamese actor Utpal Das says he would like to work in Bollywood but only with challenging roles. “I’m interested to work in Bollywood. I prefer roles which challenge my credibility as an actor to cater to a wider audience of the entertainment industry,” Utpal told IANS.

Utpal, who has featured in films like Dhan Kuberor Dhon, Raamdhenu, Borolar Ghor Durjon and Konwarpurar Konwar, feels “there is abundance of talented people in the North East region who are deprived of the acknowledgment they deserve due to various reasons”. “This is an unfortunate case but with keen interest and proper channelisation of talent management groups or bodies, this aspect could be changed of talent growth and facilitating the right talent for the desired requirement,” he added.

The actor got associated with Pantaloons for Bihu Xubhojatra. The fashion brand, from Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd, celebrated 10 years of opening its first store at DT Tower, Guwahati by thanking the people of Guwahati for their love and support with a 2.5 km long Bihu Xubojatra earlier this month. Utpal said the event was one of its kind.

A cold and spine-chilling stare from a ruthless guy, who has been a mastermind behind many terrorist attacks and doesn’t think twice before taking someone’s life, is enough for anyone to fear him and stay as far away as one possibly can. But there’s one man who is doing exactly the same and getting immense love from people for that. The man in picture is actor Rajkummar Rao, who is all set to play Omar Saeed Shaikh in his upcoming movie ‘Omerta’.

His movie ‘Newton’ has already received rave reviews, Oscar nominations and a National Award. And looks like ‘Omerta’ too has the potential to recreate the history. And the second trailer of Hansal Mehta’s biographical crime drama proves why we can be right.

This trailer was 2 minutes 47 seconds short, a time in which you can’t even cook Maggi properly. But, this time was enough for Rajkummar Rao to blow our minds away with his exceptional acting, and of course, Hansal Mehta with his brilliant screenplay and direction.

“You conspired to destroy Islam, but I won’t let that happen,” says Rajkummar Rao at the beginning of the trailer, while torturing a man. And there’s literally no turning back from there. With every second into the trailer, you realize how evil Omar Saeed Shaikh’s thoughts were while carrying out those terrorist activities.

The trailer also features shots from the 9/11 attacks, 2008 Mumbai attacks and the 2002 kidnapping and murder of journalist Daniel Pearl.

‘Omerta’ trailer is dark and twisted and Rajkummar Rao deserves our respect for pulling up this challenging character with such ease. And that’s exactly the reason why we’re intrigued to head to the theatres on May 4th, the day ‘Omerta’ is going to release.
