Daniel Craig still has one Bond film up his sleeve but people are already betting on the next probable bond! Daniel’s exit from the Bond franchise will leave a subtle hint of disappointment all around but we’re hopeful the next Bond will do deserving justice to the role and why shouldn’t he? It’s the most reactionary and overrated role in British cinema, ever!

I’ve  taken into consideration the most suited contenders who could be a part of the franchise after Craig and I am betting my money and hopes on them! You can certainly agree to disagree with me!

Cillian Murphy

Possible Men Who Can Be The Next James Bond© BBC Worldwide

His odds to become the next Bond were quite high a while ago but they’ve been slashed tremendously after his recent series ‘Peaky Blinders’ started doing well, where he plays Tommy Shelby.

Why: We can totally see Murphy giving the Bond character a fresh and an exciting take. With the beautiful blue eyed charm and chiselled cheek bones, his character as Tommy Shelby is quite similar to that of James Bond in many ways, being a ladies’ man, with an air of mystery around him. Personally I wish it’s him!

Tom Hardy

But of course! He’s inarguably one of the most talented actors around right now (seen Locke?) but he isn’t sure yet if he’d want to take up the role. But there’s no harm in assuming he could!

Why: If you look at him carefully, I believe he physically resembles Fleming’s Bond, with his natural build and a dangerous edge! And moreover so, he did play a Bond like character in Nolan’s ‘Inception’, so we already know how awesome his idea of Bond is going to be. Unfortunately though Hardy fuelled a debate recently by saying “There’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting… that if you talk about it (Bond rumours) you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one!” . Seems like Bond wants Hardy more than Hardy wants Bond!

Michael Fassbender

Possible Men Who Can Be The Next James Bond© 20th Century Fox

Remember Magneto from the latest X-Men Franchise? A typical Hollywood heavyweight, Fassbender can make for the perfect English spy. But he’s sceptical about taking up the franchise too and has already said no! (is it because he’s half German?)  That doesn’t stop me from listing him here anyway!

Why: For one, definitely revisit ‘Inglorious Basterds’ where he plays Lieutenant Archie Hicox , a model British soldier who respects the chain of command and you’ll see what I mean. He’s always the wise quaint, intellectual man, who can kill you with his thumb! Exactly how Bond is envisioned! At 39, he’s an actor at the height of his powers!

Idris Elba

Possible Men Who Can Be The Next James Bond© Pinterest

A very popular choice with critics and fans alike, Elba has been a star contender for playing the next Bond.

Why: What’s there to ask? Tall, handsome, charismatic and suave, he has all that it takes to become the next Bond. We’ve already seen how tough he is playing John Luther, in the British crime drama series ‘Luther’ and I believe he checks all the boxes! Apart from all that, his casting would be historic of course but Elba feels there should be less emphasis laid on him playing a ‘black Bond’ and more emphasis on a natural Bond, who happens to be black! The only problem, though, he’s 43 (four years younger than Craig) and ideally, Bond should last at least a decade!

Damien Lewis

Possible Men Who Can Be The Next James Bond© Twitter

After a ‘black Bond’ are you ready for ‘ginger hair Bond?’ Also, how cool was Band of Brothers? I absolutely dug the series! (it also earned him a Golden Globe nomination BTW!)

Why: A very smooth performer, Lewis will be a whiff of fresh air, after Craig’s very blunt character. His work in ‘Homeland’ was exceptional and with the calibre of adorning a hard working role always, he’s going to do full justice to Bond. He’s 45, which means, he may never be seen as Bond! But he’s definitely one of my favourites on the Bond wish list!

Hugh Jackman

Possible Men Who Can Be The Next James Bond© Twitter

I will definitely pay big monies to see Jackman as Bond! My personal favourite, I wish for him to break out of ‘Wolverine’ and sip some dry Vodka Martini – Shaken, not stirred, on screen.

Why: A fine actor, a definitive ‘manly-man’ and that attitude he carries forth with his roles-he’d make the perfect Bond! Alas, he turned the role down even before Craig was considered to play Bond! Why Hugh why!

James Norton

Possible Men Who Can Be The Next James Bond© Youtube

TV Star Norton’s career skyrocketed with ‘Happy Valley’, ‘War and Peace’ and ‘Grantchester’. I am sure, playing Bond is totally his kinda thing.

Why: I am quite certain Norton can slip into Bond’s character easily with his boyish charms and suave personality to match 007. Young, well educated, attractive and smart AND a rising good actor, what’s there not to consider? Except maybe, his transition from a TV actor to James Bond might take time and people probably will not recognise him as Bond immediately.

So that’s my list of men I believe can and should make the next Bond! They have everything that’s needed and more. Definitely tell me if you have some more contenders you’d like to list out, in the comment section below.

He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes

Salman Khan

He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes. The 52-year-old actor believes there have been breaking points in his life, but the nature of his job does not allow him to share his vulnerable side with the world.

“My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up, do stylised action sequences and romance. Articles come on my affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… People see me on ‘Bigg Boss’ in which I am laughing and joking. “So, people think I don’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or in your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through,” Salman said at the Global TiE Summit.

The actor said being a star has a lot repercussions as he does not have the “luxury of being depressed or sad”. “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said. Recalling his initial days in the film industry, Salman revealed his aim as a new actor was to give an equally bigger hit as Aamir Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

“The journey I began with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, not knowing if I would make it, and that time it was difficult because there was another actor, who had started his career and he had given a big hit. That kid’s name was Aamir Khan. “He was from the same locality. I thought that he made it and if I didn’t make it, the whole Bandra will start laughing at me. So, my concern was only Bandra- Pali Hill and the friends’ circle, which just had four-five people,” Salman said.

Priyanka Chopra has decided to cut ties with billionaire diamond trader Nirav Modi’s brand following the news about the alleged banking fraud carried out by him

Priyanka Chopra has decided to cut ties with billionaire diamond trader Nirav Modi’s brand following the news about the alleged banking fraud carried out by him. “In the light of recent allegations, Priyanka Chopra has chosen to terminate her contract with the Nirav Modi brand,” a spokesperson of Priyanka, who was the global brand ambassador for Nirav Modi, said in a statement issued on Friday.

As the news about the multi-crore scam involving Nirav Modi came to light earlier this month, a statement from the actress read that she was seeking legal opinion on her contract. There were also speculations that she is suing the brand for non-payment of dues. But her spokesperson denied this.

The termination news comes in the wake of after actresses Kangana Ranaut and Bipasha Basu accusing Mehul Choksi-owned Gitanjali Group of breaching the contracts with them and not paying their dues.

Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, along with the directors of the Nirav Modi and Gitanjali groups, are under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for an alleged Rs 11,300 crore fraud on Punjab National Bank through illegal use of Letters of Undertaking and Foreign Letters of Credit to raise and rollover money.

Both Nirav Modi and Choksi are said to have left the country, along with their family members, in early January.

As soon as Netflix announced that it will be making its way to India, fans of the online streaming service were ready with their credit cards. But when it finally was available, it caused widespread disappointment across the country as the content available was different and way too less as compared to other countries.

So in a way to compensate for the same, Netflix decided to go ahead and make content with Indian actors and storylines that would be relatable to the Indian audience. Its upcoming show ‘Sacred Games’ is an attempt at the same and its first look sure looks promising.

The first thing that got us intrigued is the fact that it is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel of the same name by author Vikram Chandra and is being directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.

Our hopes were already at an all-time high and then we got to hear the next best news which is the cast of the show: Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Radhika Apte.

And today, the Twitter account of Netflix India provided us with the first look at them.

Radhika’s serious and solemn expression and Nawaz’s unsettling smile sure look intriguing.

But its Saif’s character that has all our attention.

It’s clear that Saif is playing the role of a Sikh police offer and his blood splattered face is just what was needed to get the audience hooked. Good job Netflix!

The series would revolve around Inspector Sartaj Singh (Evidently Saif) and Ganesh Gaitonde, the most wanted gangster in India. Sartaj’s life is going downhill for a variety of reasons when an anonymous tip promises him an opportunity to capture Ganesh.

But of course, it isn’t going to be as easy as it seems. While the two indulge in a classic hide-and-seek game, it becomes clear that both of them are a part of something which is way larger than it appears to be. A story full of violence, betrayal, corruption, and politics awaits us.

On being asked about the release date by a user, Netflix just tweeted that they will keep us posted.

Soon, Aditya. We’ll keep you posted.

Well we are already hooked and can’t wait to watch what Netflix has got in store for its Indian audience.

The common perception is that AIB has been at the forefront of upholding feminist ideals in this country through their humorous sketches

Aayushi Jagad

The common perception is that AIB has been at the forefront of upholding feminist ideals in this country through their humorous sketches. But now, two former actors in their videos have taken the comedy collective to the cleaners over the lack of female representation in their videos, outside of ones that are obviously women-centric. In fact, Aayushi Jagad and Sumedh Natu — in their damning video – have even gone to the extent of pointing out that female actors in general AIB sketches are so non-functional that they can even be replaced with a table lamp.

Check out the video here:

This comes as quite a slap in the face of the comedy group that projects a progressive image amid the sanskari overtones rapidly spreading in Indian society. But to be fair to them, AIB hasn’t taken the criticism with a pinch of salt, and has instead released a statement saying that they acknowledge where they went wrong, and promise to work on making their videos more representational. Now, all we have to do is wait for them to turn their words into action.

Pia Bajpai, who will be seen in a bilingual Tamil/Malayalam film Abhiyum Anuvum, will be sporting a bald look in the movie

Pia Bajpai, who will be seen in a bilingual Tamil/Malayalam film Abhiyum Anuvum, will be sporting a bald look in the movie. Pia will be seen opposite actor Tovino Thomas in the Yoodlee Films production. “I’m having a bald look for a couple of scenes in the film and it’s been very challenging for me. It used to take three to four hours just to place that properly and have that look. For a fact, if I had to start the shoot at 7 a.m., I had to start getting ready at 3 a.m. And more than that the whole day for 12-13 hours having that on my head, was very difficult,” said Pia in a statement.

“I couldn’t move my head much or laugh. Even if my head got itchy, I couldn’t do anything about that. With so much spray and glue. I just couldn’t wait to get home and get that off. And it used to take easily that many hours to even remove that,” she added. It was so tedious for Pia that she even considered going bald truly than wearing a wig.

“I really thought shaving my head would be so much better than wearing that wig, but then my director told me this look was just for three to four days that too during the initial days of the shoot. Hence, I wasn’t allowed to shave my head which I would have preferred,” said Pia.

Abhiyum Anuvum is scheduled to release on March 9.

Zero-Abhishk-kapoorTroubles seem to be far from over for Sara Ali Khan. After the director of her debut film Kedarnath, Abhishek Kapoor and producer Prerna Arora parted ways, reports have been doing the rounds that the project has been shelved. While Abhishek Kapoor aka Gattu assured that the movie is on track and the second schedule has already commenced, the reasons cited by the Fitoor maker for his fallout with KriArj Entertainment were financial interferences and lack of transparency. KriArj Entertainment, founded and headed by Prernaa Arora, contested that the “unprofessional” and “disorganized” handling of the production by Abhishek’s company was the real reason for the severing of ties. However, as per a leading daily, the filmmaker has been foul-mouthing other biggies including Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Rohit Shetty.

According to a report in DNA, Abhishek Kapoor and KriArj Entertainment first locked horns when Prernaa Arora suggested that Kedarnath should not release on December 21, 2018 in order to avoid a clash with Shah Rukh Khan Zero. This did not go down well with Kapoor. “Her suggestion hurt Gattu’s ego. So, he tweeted that Kedarnath would release with Zero, even after Prernaa had officially announced that the film would come on a different date,” DNA quoted a source as saying. But that isn’t all about it. Gattu sent out text messages to people, and spoke ill of Shah Rukh. The daily quoted a source who was also one of those who received the messages, as saying, “Right before the Zero teaser was released on January 1, Gattu sent out a text saying he had watched the teaser and the song and felt SRK looked like an alien in it. He has been ridiculing the actor and his look as a dwarf ever since. He is confident that his film will be better than Zero.”

Cut to Dhadak. 2018 will be witness to two of the most promising female debutants in the form of Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. While Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter shall make her debut with Kedarnath, Karan Johar’s Dhadak will be Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s first on-screen appearance. Naturally, bets are being placed on who shall take away the Best Debutant trophy! For those living under a rock, it was alleged that Karan Johar’s project would serve as Sara’s launchpad. While that didn’t take off, Dhadak, a Hindi remake of Marathi superhit movie Sairat shall arrive in cinemas before Kedarnath. When the first look of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer was released, Abhishek mocked the poster and texted out saying the same, reports DNA. “He sent a few texts saying he feels it’s a rehash of a South film. He also said that the posters lacked steam. Hence, he didn’t consider Janhvi as a threat to Sara,” a source quoted by the daily claims.

After talking ill about Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, Gattu didn’t spare Rohit Shetty either. While Kedarnath releases on December 21, a week later shall arrive Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s first 70 mm collaboration – Simmba. Given the fact that Ranveer has only been seen in historical dramas lately, fans are excited to see their superstar in a rather masala entertainer, add to that Shetty’s magic tricks, aren’t we all expecting a blockbuster? But Abhishek Kapoor feels Simmba will be delayed. “He is extremely sure that Rohit won’t be able to wrap up Simmba in time and it won’t hit theatres on the decided date,” a source was quoted by DNA.

It yet remains to be seen if Abhishek Kapoor has actually made these comments or not. With Kedarnath in the eye of the storm, we wonder what the movie’s fate looks like.

SalmanBollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is busy shooting for his upcoming film Race 3, says he cant afford the luxury of being depressed or emotional. Apart from giving a number of blockbusters, Salman is also known for launching new faces in the film industry and doing charity work through his ‘Being Human Foundation’.

What makes him so selfless and keeps him going? “When I was 15-16 (years old), I started partying and stuff like that because that’s the age when everyone parties. When I was in college, I used to assist in films and then I started working as a model too,” Salman said at the TiE Global Summit (TGS) 2018 on Thursday.

Going down memory lane, he said, “One day, Mr. Kailash Surendranath (advertising filmmaker) made me face the camera for the first time. It was for his Campa Cola advertisement, so, he used to take me out for parties. One day, he kept his arm around me and said ‘Salman, I don’t think you should waste your time by spending your father’s money’. Though he said that jokingly, I didn’t take that as a joke. Straight after that, I started working and till today, I don’t take holidays.”

If he is not doing films or not feeling well then also he keeps himself busy. “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said.

The Tiger Zinda Hai star said an actor’s life does not have any “sub-titles” to show what he is going through at any stage of his life. “My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up well, do stylised action sequences and romance. My articles come on affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… people see me on Bigg Boss in which I am laughing and joking,” said the reality show’s host.

“So, people think that he doesn’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through, you have to forget that and you have to focus on your craft,” he added.
