Singer Madonna says she is exploring the idea of doing a show that doesn’t travel the world, but stays in one place and is more intimate.

Back in 1990, Madonna set the template for modern pop concerts with her Blond Ambition world tour. From its hydraulic stage to Jean-Paul Gaultier’s iconic costumes, it raised the bar for stadium-sized spectacle.

Now, after seven world tours, the star says she is “exploring” a smaller-scale show in the future. “I’ve done so many shows and tours in stadiums and sports arenas that I feel like I have to reinvent that now too. I like doing intimate shows and being able to talk directly to the audience,” said the singer.

“This is something I’m exploring the idea of doing a show that doesn’t travel the world, but stays in one place and utilises not only humour and the music in a more intimate setting, but other people’s music, as well, and other entertainment,” she adds.

“A revolving door of amazing, gifted, unique talent — dancers, musicians, singers, comedians and me. I don’t know. I’m trying to come up with all those ideas now,” Madonna adds.

You unbox the cover, slide the disc out, give it a light blow and slip it into the console. Ask any gamer why they do that, and they’ll tell you it’s not just a process, it’s a lifestyle! The thrill of being able to control a character and live in an alternate universe is an experience that gives you a totally different type of high. Hitting the ‘X’ on the controller to move someone around, smashing ‘R2 and circle’ to enable a special move might sound silly, but in its own special way, the feeling is very empowering. So, is there anything more exciting than this for gamers? Well, maybe just one… when they see their games come to life on the big screen!

‘Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ and ‘Hitman’ are a couple of such examples. It’s a fascinating to see how franchises that gave us such slick, action-packed game play also gave us equally impressive big screen performances. When a game is finally optioned to be turned into a film, gamers are given a chance to have an outsider’s perspective of a storyline that very few outside the world of games know of. So, without further ado, here’s a look at 6 of the best movies that originated from a gaming franchise and went from one world of fantasy to another:

Hitman:

Hitman(c) Hitmanagent47.com

When ‘Hitman’ stormed the gaming market with its storyline and game-play, it was no surprise that this franchise was given a cinematic rendition in 2007. Based on the story of an ‘assassin for hire’ known as Agent 47, ‘Hitman’ captured the imagination of not just gamers but even the average audience who had the appetite for a slick thriller. With the movie taking key elements from the game and combining it with a plot of an agent on the run, ‘Hitman’ managed to stay true to the original franchise and find a way to innovatively bring to the game to life on the big screen.

Assassin’s Creed:

Assassins Creed(c) Ubisoft

Well, this is one of those games that need no introduction. After crossing 100 million units sold globally, the developers decided to treat their fans with its very own movie. In 2016 Ubisoft decided to send their game to the big screen with Michael Fassbender in ‘Assassin’s Creed, The Movie.’ While the look and feel stayed in sync with the game, the movie was given a modern twist with features that were given a funky new tweak. Take the ‘The Animus,’ for instance, the machine used to experience ancestors’ memories. In the game, this was portrayed as a chair, but in the movie it was converted into a machine that lifts the user in the air, allowing for a more modern experience. The overall theme of the movie was still about the Assassins taking on the Knight Templars, keeping the authenticity intact.

Need for Speed:

Need For Speed(c) Dreamworks

No matter whether you follow games or not, there is no one who hasn’t heard of this game. That’s  how popular ‘Need for Speed’ is. And understandably in 2014, it was reincarnated as a movie. So how did the movie replay the adrenaline rush of cars on a race-track? Well, by taking the route of street racing! The tale revolves around two former partners, some vengeance and a cross-country car race. That’s definitely the right kind of cocktail to get auto-heads in the mood. While this Aaron Paul starter didn’t do well at the box office, gamers loved this age-old franchise come to life.

Prince of Persia:

Prince Of Persia(c) Disney

From MS-Dos to Windows, to consoles, ‘Prince of Persia’ has showed up on every operating system, ever. And gamers all around the world have always followed the adventures of the Prince. Then in 2010, the game made it to the silver screen, with ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.’ Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, this movie obviously had key elements from the game and the plot of the film revolved around saving the world using the sands of time. Focusing on the ‘Prince’ and a magical dagger, the movie managed to replay the mystery and excitement that one associated with the game. For anyone who has played the game, the movie is a definite one-time watch.

 Lara Croft Tomb Raider:

Lara Croft was probably the hottest selling adventure game in the early 2000s. It was a mix of adventure and woman-power, something Angelina Jolie brought spectacularly to the public consciousness in 2001. While critics didn’t praise the film, gamers certainly knew that no one other than Jolie could have done justice to this role. The storyline tied into the game and Croft was placed in a race against time as she looked to collect ancient artifacts. The only drawback was that it didn’t quite bring out the essence of the game as well as it should have. Check it out for a super-hot Angelina in her prime.

Mortal Kombat:

Mortal Kombat(c) moviemaniacsDE

Ready? FIGHT! If seeing these two words brings back a flood of memories, then you’re surely a Mortal Kombat fan. For the average gamer, there was nothing more thrilling than slamming those buttons and stringing together a host of wicked movies in ‘1 v 1′ Mortal Kombat battles. The ultimate aim was to survive the tournament and stay as the last one standing. The game then got its own movie in 1995, thanks to director Paul W.S. Anderson. The theme of the movie was simple and in sync with the game- surviving a mysterious martial arts tournament. The onscreen portrayl  of each character was impeccable, and for a movie in the 90s this one did very well to capture the essence of the game.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen Priyanka Chopra on the silver screen in B-town. Fans are eagerly waiting just to get a glimpse of her. She was last seen in Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangaajaal’, and while the film didn’t do that well at the box office, her power-packed performance was loved by the audience.

There are many who are looking forward to just getting a glimpse of her, so here’s some good news. The actress has already agreed to two films that she will start shooting next year. But before she starts shooting, the actress is all set to don a new hat; that of a producer. Well, you heard us right, PeeCee is all set to produce her first Hindi film.

Looking at the speed she marking her territory with, we wonder if there is anything this woman can’t do? She has already loved the script and will be producing it under her banner, Purple Pebble Films.

While talking to a leading daily, a source revealed, “The film is about a few kids and stray dogs. On social media, we have all seen nasty videos of people attacking harmless stray dogs. PC, who has pets and is emotionally invested in animal welfare, was touched by this beautiful story. She hopes to bring a change in people’s attitude towards strays.”

“Priyanka wants a well-known, established top actress to do five-six scenes in the film for the necessary star power. She needs a big name for that, and someone who’ll do the film out of goodwill. She was crushed when she realised that none of the prominent actresses were willing to just do five-six scenes in a film; they want a proper full-fledged movie,” the source added.

In an interview, the desi girl revealed that she would want someone from B-town to be the face of the film. Like how it is done in the west, people work on smaller roles if the script is good, without charging a hefty amount. But that might be difficult in India so one can expect her to work on the film herself. Though we would definitely love Priyanka as a canine saviour! The film is yet to be announced.

When asked about her upcoming films, Priyanka said in an interview, “I’m sort of very close to two films that I definitely want to do which is going to be next year after Quantico, so not in a rush because it will be after March, next year.”

That’s Priyanka for you, doing everything she needs to. We truly can’t wait for her to produce her first film and stage her much-anticipated comeback in Bollywood.

Salman Khan is currently on a high as he was recently honoured with a Global Diversity Award by the United Kingdom’s House of Commons, which is their Parliament’s equivalent of our Lok Sabha.

The superstar was bestowed with the Global Diversity Award 2017 in the British Parliament by British Asian MP, Keith Vaz.

Needless to say, Salman looked great, as usual, giving shutterbugs a goofy smile. Bhaijaan was honoured for his contribution to the Indian film industry as an actor, producer, philanthropist, singer and television personality.

Salman Khan (c) Twitter

Praising Salman, Keith said, “Salman Khan is a role model and a hero to millions of people worldwide.” Well, Keith, he is indeed an entertainer and a hero but a role model? I don’t think many would agree with that statement.

“Besides his Indian cinema success, Salman is a well- known philanthropist and his NGO, Being Human, has done life-changing work supporting the underprivileged in India. It is a tremendous honour to present him with the award. I am proud that young Asians worldwide have role models like Salman Khan, ” Keith added as reported by PTI.

Salman Khan(c) Twitter

Listening to Keith, it sounds like he is a huge fan of Salman, and no doubt the man has captured the many hearts of the people there. But not many Indians would approve of the word ‘role model’ being used to describe him. First things first, young Asians don’t necessarily need role models like Salman. Let’s hope you guys get why we are making this point and if you don’t, you are certainly living under a rock or choose not to see what’s in front of you.

Of course, as expected, Salman was very pleased and said, “My father would never have believed that I would make it here. I would like to thank the fans for the respect that they have shown me. Although I have received many film awards, this is the first I have received personally so I am incredibly humbled.”

Salman Khan (c) Twitter

However, this isn’t the first time an Indian has been honoured with this award. Back in the day, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan were also presented with the Global Diversity Award. Apart from the aforementioned celebs, renowned people like Jackie Chan, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton and, American Civil Rights leader Jesse Jackson have also been bestowed with this honour.

The ‘Tubelight’ actor is in Britain for his Da-Bangg Tour, which takes place in Birmingham and in London’s O2 Arena on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Along with Salman, actors like Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prabhudheva, Sooraj Pancholi and Badshah will also be seen setting the stage on fire.
